As far as suction goes I don’t know of any other upright vacuum that beats the vertex. I just wish the hose had more stretch to it.
For hose suction yes. Floor suction though the Dyson Ball vacuums win at that

Thanks dude, my wife was one to change our filters but she's never shown me how to disassemble the machine. Now we have clean filters and I just pulled two hoppers of crap out of our rug.

Thanks. This was really helpful. I just wish there was a way to clean underneath the other brush roller because that window gets so dirty and it looks like there's actually debris trapped in there.

I like this vacuum but something on it really bugs me. On the apex you could remove the top of the brushroll cover to access on the brushroll. On this you can't which erks me. The NV801 you could actually remove the brushroll which was even better.
Yep. I hope on the new vertex pro iq cordless that the brush roll cover comes off.

I really hate that you cant take that part out anymore, my vacuum looks gross because i cant clean that clear part like i could on the apex

If the blue roller is left off, the vacuum will not turn on if the setting is for carpet. Almost threw away a perfectly operational vacuum since the roller came off when my son was using it and never put it back on

Thank you for the detailed video, it was very helpful. I still have some drywall dust clogged into the brush that doesn't come off. Any suggestions on how do I get that out?
Wipe it with glass cleaner and a microfiber towel. That should work.

100% you can wash the hepa filter? It must take a long time to dry! Also, I have an xtra set of foam filter sets so I don't have to wait for those to dry. Don't use damp filters!
Yes, you can wash it. It takes a while to dry. Put it in front of a fan to dry faster

I like it except how it's hard to maintain and also is very hard to push. Also the hose is way to short.
Can you wash the soft roller brush after taking it out to fluff it back up?
Yes. Use dish soap or tide and clean it. I scrub it with a brush too. That will remove all the gunk and fluff it up.

Another question about the shark vertex upright vacuum. How do you go about cleaning the canister with water? Do you use just straight warm water or do you use any kind of detergent? Can you wash the cyclone to with water and soap? Thanks
I have washed shark bibs with dish soap and water. Make sure to dry it well before putting it back on the vacuum

light for the roller brush is off and we’re trying to figure out how to get the roller to start working in the light to go back on? This is the exact one we have. Do you know where the reset button is on this one?
It should reset automatically when you turn it off and on again
Why does nobody explain what that little tiny brush thingy on the bottom of the vacuum is? What does it do? What’s it for?

@@VacMaster1991 I really appreciate the quick response. However I am a little confused. Could you explain how a lever that rotates back-and-forth with some bristles at the end can displace static? And why it needs to sort of switch back-and-forth?.
Oddly enough with how amazing the vacuum is at keeping hair from getting caught in it. That little brush constantly needs to be picked up to get hair out of it lol. Also the little tiny tires collect hair which is annoying and they don’t pop out very easy in my experience. In fact I’ve yet to been able to get one out.

Yeah, bad design for not being able to easily remove the second roll. I got something stuck, and i can't get it out.

I would replace the whole vacuum. Your never getting that smell or all the germs out
Just got ours in September but it won't shut off without unplugging. If you tilt handle down past 45° it will shut off. The power button triggers between turning light on in on mode but when pressing button again light shuts off but not power.
I honestly don't think I can help with that. Sounds like a motherboard problem
FYI...took my fuzzy brush roller off to clean it today. Promptly dropped it on linoleum floor and plastic broke off one of the sides, looks like little latch do hickey. Costs like 28 to replace it. Dont drop it.

Mine won't start now and I clean it often. It happened after the plug was pulled off the wall on accident twice.
Is the hose connected to the body. If it's not the vacuum will not turn on.

I don't think its possible to take apart the base. You should contact shark for that.
Sorry for all the questions, but can you wash the soft front brush roller with warm water? Or how would you go about it?
No problem.I wash the soft roller with dish soap and warm water. Then I dry it with a towel and sit it on a window sill for 24hrs.

I wash the filter and dust bin every week on mine. Just be sure to let it dry over night.
Every week is a bit excessive. Twice a month. Is good.

@@donb1979 Keeping it clean is important. Most people don't and wonder why their vacuum dies.
Might be a silly question but how do you wash the filters? Hand wash with dish soap or detergent? Or can I throw them in the washer? Never done this before so I apologize if I sound crazy with the question 😂
Hand wash with a little soap. Make sure to rinse out all the soap and let them dry for 24hrs before using again. The washer would destroy them.
The brush roll head main window is filled with hair & dirt & there's no easy way to access it. How could they not make this easy to clean & access for replacing the brush roll & cleaning it out? And why make it windowed if you can't access it to clean it? Are they purposefully being joiks?

My blue soft brush roll won’t spin. I have no idea what the issue is. Unclogged, cleaned and replaced filters. Still no dice.
So it sounds like the inner belt is broken. You will have to contact shark for that.
I really hope someone will see this comment that knows how to help, one of my wheels of my vacuum fell off and i have no idea how to get it back on, i’ve searched everywhere but i don’t see even a single thing of anyone else having this problem, if anyone can help it would be so greatly appreciated!
How did it fall out?
The soft roller stopped spinning. I've removed it and cleaned anything that may have got in the way and still nothing. Any idea what the problem could be?

@@VacMaster1991 I called Shark this afternoon. My Vertex has a 5-year warranty. While I was on the phone with them they processed an order for a new power head which will be delivered in 3-5 days. The main roller was turning but not the front roller. That was an interesting call which was both via phone as well as video so they could see the unit.
Glad they helped. Replacing the belt is pretty difficult.
Great video ! I have a problem that a little soft foam ball (grandkids toy) is caught in the back of the roller that can not be removed😢. Any suggestions ?
Replace the entire head unit, they are not that expensive.

Hi! How do you recommend cleaning out the hose on the vertex? I’ve tried looking it up but haven’t had any luck. I saw two different people sticking it in their sinks on TikTok but I figured you would have to cover the prongs that click into the vacuum? Thanks in advance! ☺️
To remove clogs use a long thin blunt object to push anything out.
@@VacMaster1991 Thanks for that info! I should have been more specific though lol. I actually meant like washing it out. I’ve seen some people just stick them in the sink and soak them then rinse them out and let them dry. I wanted to make sure that is okay and isn’t going to ruin the vertex.

Check if any hose connections are loose. That can affect the power button. Also contact Shark if you can't fix it
My roller doesn't move. Is there a belt that is installed with the Vertex vacuum?
Yes there is a belt. But it's inaccessible to users.
If there is a little water on the floor or after washing the dust holder there are some water left over, is it ok when there is some water and you use the vacuum? it will get stopped at the 2 filters? but you don't want too much water right? also why are there so few videos for the canister version?
I would avoid washing the dust canister. It got metal which will rust. Use a leaf blower.
I have sucked up a phone charger in the main roller. There's no way to take that off.
See if you can just yank it out. Try cutting it in pieces.
My brush roll indicator light is off even though the power works on my vacuum and the roll won't spin because of that. What do I do?
Check if it's jammed

Anything stuck in the soft roller. Try changing the brush speed setting

The hose end where it plugs in to the body may be lose. I had that happen with mine. Check the connections and report back.
@VacMaster1991 I ended up calling shark and 2 things fixed it. First, if it doesn't start, remove the Take Away unit completely and put it back. There is a switch that resets. 2nd, that bottom part with 2 screws, absolutely check there!! I did and there was a bunch of paper s I reds in there! One I cleaned it out, the vacuum works great! Thank you 😊 you inspired me to fix it and not feel like I had to get a new one! Happy new year!!

Any tips on getting the brush roll to spin? The main one spins, but not the fuzzy one in front. I’ve taken it off and there was nothing there to clean. I haven’t had it that long.
Oh and the brush roll indicator is lit up green.
The internal belt may be broken
On the bottom by the rollers there are 2 tiny wheels. Mine have lint rolled up in them and I don't know how to get it out. Any tips?
Tweezers and a sharp knife
I don't know if Sharp would recommend this, but I figured out that you can pop those wheels out by prying from the middle of the wheel (I use the end of a butter knife to pop them off). Then the wheel's rod can slip right out, instantly freeing any lint rolled around them. Put it together and pop it in.
I imagine this might loosen the rod's fitting in the vacuum over time, but for now I haven't run into issues. Tweezers and a knife weren't doing the job for me.

Does it matter which way the felt filter goes in? Grooved side up or down?
The dirty side should always go up. Even after washing.

this vacuum is a piece of junk. I've had it less than a year and barely use and it has no suction. I've cleaned everything and there are no clogs. I always say 'less is more' because the more options, the more parts to break Then for some reason I decided to buy this high tech piece of garbage.

@@VacMaster1991 thanks for replying. the vacuum is still new, that filter is still white. I even removed that filter(and the other two) and barely no suction. the 2 low power settings have 0 suction and the high power setting has a very small amount of suction. when I turn it on is sound normal for 2-3 seconds and then it sounds like something is clogging up somewhere, except nothing is clogged. The only thing that hasn't been apart and checked and cleaned is suction motor.

@@Frenchfrys17 yes, thanks for asking. I get clogs in the handle where it bends. Its really hard to clear any blockages there. I had to use a flexible metal gas line and wedge it there to clear it.
