- How To BEAT Radiant Silvergun! 1cc Clear with Commentary! It took me about 25 hours of practice and some real heartbreaking losses (2 game overs on the last pattern), but I managed to get the 1cc! So today I show my route and give advice on how to beat this fantastic but brutal shmup.

Aside from the boss skills on display here i really love Hitoshi Sakamoto OST for RSG.

Somehow intersting that stages 6 and 1 have more cave-like patterns. That makes it kind of easier for me than the other stages

Congratz Mark... a nice run and a solid commentary on RSG... i enjoyed it... i'm now grinding through Zero Ranger, Blue Revolver & Natsuki Chronicles, and for Fun Steredenn (all Steam)... Radiant Silvergun (RetroArch) is still outside my Wheelhouse... but getting there... Cheers... btw... there is a pleasant guilty pleasure Early Access Astroid / Geometry Wars STG / Shump called "Nova Drift" i sunk 5 Hours into it and the Rogue-Like Weapon System is addictive for... Just-One-more-go... (Shameless Advertise)

I do think it's important to mention the very, very generous hitbox of the ship. For a 1998 shmup, it feels like the hitbox is even smaller than CAVE shmups. Super helpful considering this game's crazy pattern.

Amazing 1CC! That’s skill bro, lots of learning and practice sure payed off! I’m currently playing this on the Saturn and hope by the end of this year I’ll be able to get a 1CC! Great talk though and awesome stuff bro!
Thanks so much my dude, yes silvergun is a real treat to play and practice, one of the funnest 1cc I've ever done! My routing is a bit crazy so if you are having trouble you may want to focus on scoring the early stages more then I do, as that will pay off later down the line in the boss fights ha.

Awesome vid. Nice to get another newer player perspective aside from Ben Shinobi's vids. Those are invaluable as well for WR scoring, but for us newbies this is excellent.
Great job Mark! My routes have some more weapon level but I never cleared because of stage 5's difficulty (with the battleship). This will be a nice resource to refer to as I go for my own clear.

Revisiting this video after learning the game - and wow, I didn't realize how much of a brute force clear this was... You're at like Stage 5 with Stage 3 weapon levels. Did you make it easier or harder on yourself? I actually couldn't say... but watching you do late-game boss fights is a lot more entertaining than other runs

Im a shmup noob and dont plan on becoming a pro, so i settle with the Saturn game mode on easy difficulty.
Around 5 hours in with lots and lots of Game Over`s i always restart with the available save files, so my weapons get better and stay that way on the next restart. That way i already have PlayerCount 35 and PlayerLive 10..... lots of contunes =D
Now i already got to see the boss that looks like a big human being.... and OMG he still beat my ass, hahaha. But i will get him some time! xD

Your RS videos has really made me understand how the game works and now I want to play it again. I have only played it on Saturn but I remember it being much longer and I also remember more bosses like a turtle. Which game mode are you playing?
So I am playing the "Arcade" mode of the game :-) You can activate it in the options menu!

it is underway and being done by the same dev as the snes, sega cd, and pce cores (iirc)
but no guarantee yet on whether the core can implement it fully

This is an absolute masterpiece that sword clap is so satisfying and love how you can power up and save your progress on story mode arcade mode is doable i can only make it to stage 4C haven't made it past that or stage 2 gotta choose the right path i guess lol
I can't wait for this essential shoot'em up reference to be brought to our modern media, I've never played there. If it is ever released. Hope M2 will stick so well. Otherwise, hats off to your 1CC.

Wish treasure would do a two game bundle radiant silvergun along with guardian heroes for switch..
I have been playing lots of new shooters thanks to this channel lately and I want to go for my first 1cc, and at the end of the day I've come home to believe Radiant Silvergun is the best shmup I've played and it'll be my first 1cc. I do have a question, what is the best way to play it?
Silvergun is so much fun! Best way to practice it is on the 360 because of it s stage select, and then best way to play runs is on the Saturn as it is more accurate and has the least amount of input lag
I believe there is a switch version of Radiant now, Not sure if you played and noticed differences to the saturn or 360 versions. Im trash at shmups, but if I ever wanted to 1cc a shmup it would be this game.

The “Death Pattern” at the end, I just stay at the bottom center, find a gap between the first set of diamonds and simply tap (right) when they pass you to guarantee the dodge of the second set of diamonds.
Have you done an Ikaruga 1cc?

In my eyes the Switch became obsolete once the GPD Win Max came out.
Radiant Silver Gun, R-Type Delta, Ikaruga, what else? All these games make me feel so good, so comfortable. I love playing them. Anyone know others that could generate that feeling? They are just so well made. I can think of Blazing Start maybe.

Super Star Soldier n64 worth checking out, it have cool 3d graphic kinda like radiant silver gun and have a great shield mechanic that you can repel bullets with.

I recommend Einhander, it is not quite as ball busting as radiant silver gun, but the game play and art direction remains fantastic. You can find it for PS1.
You should also try Thunderforce V on Saturn then.
Amazing, gj :D Now do it on the story mode, thats where the meat is xD I put probably like over 100 hours in this game and still doesnt 1CC it, but I got very far until the boss rush so with enough practice I could do it.
.yeah story mode would be a lot of game to 1cc :-)

For stage 2D, I didn't have any trouble seeing the bullets against the background (at least watching this video). Could this potentially be a color blindness thing, or maybe it just doesn't translate well on video? It could also be that it feels very different in the moment, but at least to me they visually stood out pretty well.
I'd love to play this game, but I don't have an Xbox 360. What's the best way to play this game under these circumstances? Can I emulate it? Is the Sega Saturn version good?
Yes the saturn is good and the best way to emulate it on pc is via the sega saturn version with mednafen
Is there a Raiden silver gun American version that you can play on American Sega Saturn or is it only in Japanese🕹🎮😀👍🏾
