  • How hard-wearing is the fabric on the Ergobaby Omni Dream and Omni Breeze and is there a difference between these two models?
    After my review of the Omni Dream where I said the only real difference between the Dream and the Breeze is the fabric, I got quite a few questions about if there was a difference in how hard wearing these two fabrics were and how they looked after some solid use. At the time both models were so new to me I couldn't really answer... but now a year down the line I can really answer this and there is a clear difference
    Clearly the Breeze looks better for long, although colour is also a factor!
    Both are really well made carriers and wear and tear is relatively minimal and only asthetic a year down the line, but there is clearly more asthetic wear on the 100% cotton Dream compared to the Polyester Breeze.
    Do you have one of these carriers? How has it lasted for you?

    Thank you!
    We’ve got a cotton dream as the breeze was giving irritation to my and baby’s skin on hot days and cotton is the best, it truly is a Dream no comparison to poliéster.
    Fading is the price you pay for the comfort of your baby being carried in natural material with natural dye.

      Definitely true, you see it on all the other brands with fully cotton carriers. Doesn't put me off any of those brands either! But nice to be aware of it, had so many questions and some people surprised or disappointed so good to know both the pros and cons!

    Thanks for this. How do you find the Omni breeze compares to the Omni 360? (in terms of comfort, functionality, etc?)

      I answer this here ... sheenslings.com/2022/06/08/ergobaby-omni-breeze-review/. If you scroll down I compare the Breeze and the 360 in-depth near the end of the review. Hope it helps! Best Madeleine

    You have no idea how useful that is! I've been really considering upgrading my Izmi (shoulder straps are now hurting me) and trying something else asap. As a foster carer I need to use a carrier with many babies, so the fading would eventually make it look untidy. Do you think the impact of the UV that fades the fabric will eventually impact the strength of the fibres? I notice that the faded parts are not necessarily the structural elements, perhaps they use a different softer grade of cotton which fades more easily?

      Yes i think its exactly that - softer grade cotton. I also think its potentially dye fading rather than fabric degrading because its much worse on the colours and basically doesn't happen on the Pearl grey

    Thank you for this! The dream also has a linen fabric. Thoughts on this? Would you choose one over the other or would you say they perform similarly?

      I have never tried the linen. I can't even see it on the UK website... Not 100% sure if it was released over here or not. So I can't comment unfortunately.

    Hi! Thanks so much for doing this comparison. Im expecting soon and looking to buy either the dream or breeze model. I like the idea of the dream more as its all cotton. Esp knowing my babyboy will be chewing on it. Do you know if the breeze is made of a specific type of polyester thats completely non toxic? As far as i know all polyester - recycled or not is made of plastic, which doesnt feel right for a baby to be chewing on - yes im gonna be a wooden toys kinda mum 😂
    All the best

      I know that it is absolutely tested to be made with baby safe fabric and dyes ... its tested with chewing in mind! But I don't know any more than that. I would say however whatever you go for its worth getting suck pads to cover the carrier and protect it from chewing. Also to give baby something soft to suck on... I make some using bamboo towelling which you can find here sheenslings.com/product/suck-pads/

    Thank you for this. I've had a hard time deciding between the two fabrics and even choosing a color (so many options!). Im going to be purchasing the breeze. Are you aware if the hip carry position is a highly used/liked position? I like the idea of the aerloom style and fabric but im thinking the hip position is something i might like and the reason for choosing the omni instead of aerloom. I appreciate all of your videos. They've been so helpful for me (i have no access to a library like yours).

      I like the hip position alot and know qlot of parents who do too but likewise know so many who never try it. My best advice is to consider how you carry in arms. Do you carry on the hip alot in arms? If so likely it will feel natural in a carrier too. If you almost never carry in arms this was likely you won't use it. I should also say compared the the Areloom these carriers last sooo much longer and are more versatile

    Does the Dream (cotton) weight more than the Breeze (polyester)?

    • @SheenSlings
      @SheenSlings  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      No, they actually weigh pretty much the same both around 750g. Because all the things that add weight... The padding, the buckles etc are exactly the same and the actual fabric doesn't make a real difference in weight. From weighing a few before answering I think it accounts for 5g difference overall.

    Do you recommend the breeze and dream more than the mesh?

    • @SheenSlings
      @SheenSlings  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Breeze is mesh? So I am not sure I understand your question. Do you mean more than the Omni 360 Cool Air Mesh. I go through how the Breeze and Dream compare to this model and which I think is better in my review of the Ergobaby Breeze. Hope that helps!

    Do you think the Omni breeze will last better in years to come ???

    • @SheenSlings
      @SheenSlings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, as I show in the video the Breeze is more durable/harder wearing than the Dream
