You have no idea how much this hurts. This could have been an exceptional sequel. All EA Redwood Shores had to do was bring over the perfect mechanics from the original game and boom, could have done incredibly well. I reached out to the creative director and lead producer and boy they had A LOT to share. Some friends and I also found some cut content. -Vito's story WAS considered to be playable to make it feel exactly like the movie but one of the higher ups felt they could go bolder with the license so it was glossed over. -Dominic went through a LOT of changes before he was finalised. The proof of concept showed that Michael was the lead character but was changed as they couldn't get Al Pacino's likeness. -The game immediately began development after The Godfather Blackhand Edition for the Nintendo Wii was just released. -The Don's View was DRASTICALLY different. -Co-op mode was planned but ultimately scrapped. I have the pitch document for it. -The game was very rushed. There was little to no QA testing, most of the original Godfather game team was shifted to work on other EA games like Dead Space and The Simpsons Game and new developers came on board to work on this game, deadlines kept looming and the new engine the game was created on caused a lot of problems. -The dev team were really disappointed with how the game turned out. -There WAS a 3rd game being worked on that got to a supposed pre alpha state but was scrapped when this game bombed. -There was a scrapped favor called "Espionage" in the games text files. -There is also three scrapped executions known as "Golden Gloves", "Electrocution" from the first game and "Thrown Down The Stairs" in the games text files. -Dominic was supposed to promote one of his men based on some of the games audio files. -Aldo was supposed to talk in the Cuba tutorial based on some of the games audio files.
Question because I'm quite curious... Since the first Godfather video game centered around Aldo Trapani; was there any plan for him to be the protagonist of the second game? For clarity: Godfather Part II we see a past storyline involving Vito's rise to power; and present day involving Michael. So when the second game was announced I half-expected the game to take this route as well but this time involving a past storyline involving Aldo's father's and a present day journey involving Aldo? Because ngl it was very odd suddenly off'ing the main protagonist of the first game and playing someone else entirely. I kinda expected Dominic to be the Vincent for a Godfather Part III video game lol if that ever happened
I really don't get how your channel only has 67k subs. The consistant uploads and the quality deserves more attention. Thanks for the upload tho! I really enjoy your stuff.
I didn’t think anybody on TH-cam would ever mention this game again! Bro shamefully I beat this like 3 times when I was twelve - to this day I think this idea expanded a ton is kinda all I’ve ever wanted in a gta clone and because they fumbled the bag no one ever copied this formula. The empire simulating potential could be so fun
Indeed so on Point! the storyline really sucked and very short & easy , it could've been polished way more better no doubt, but boy that RTS mechanics they introduced in this is significantly what made it a very unique game on it's own, just from that alone i finished the game 10 times as a kid lol
@@user-zi8wd3ov8m yeah games that let you build your empire from scratch and become the most powerful group or gang scratches an itch for me, and I’ve always just wished games like this could flesh out the power fantasy more. More giving orders, more business management and customization, just something to give all that progress more weight. Like ok you took over almost everything, but there’s no changes in the gameplay except you make more money and have better guns. I want a game where you start at the botttom with a shit bucket car, taking orders, and by the end you you are giving orders that are actually consequential. If they went even FURTHER into the RPG route, it be even cooler if certain decisions could really negatively affect your gang and set em back. For instance: say at the beginning of the game if you fuck up and kill one of the biggest gang’s memebers, it could get you in a war that destroys your gang because your not equipped resulting in a game over essentially. I think that would be the most fun criminal shooter game ever
Games make you too invincible, if you cross the big bad when you’re not super powerful, the game has you go on a shooting spree to solve all issues. Idt any game has portrayed that reality of crossing the wrong dude at the wrong time, in mob movies and shows, the characters really can’t harm certain people without extreme consequences coming their way, and I don’t think any game has really stresses that. Like imagine someone’s been sending thugs to extort your businesses, but you have to consider marking them for death because if you do, it starts issues with the gang that could result in a war (killing made members of other gangs unsanctioned)
@@anthonystrain1817there's alot of realistic logic that happens from that mob boss perspective it's what takes up most your attention throughout the game, that made the gamelplay seem to be a lot longer even though the storyline is pretty short, imo it's really seen how the devs really focused on that RTS mechanism more than anything else, i think it really sparked the game's potential, just like Mafia, Saints row series isolated themselves from being a "GTA-cloneee"... & bring it's own uniqueness ,you know... it has it's originality, there's never been a game i played like this because of it's own gameplay mechs alone, if just was good and longer like the first one

When I was young I really liked this game. But as i got older and understood the second Godfather movie better, I thought the game didn't understand the movie at all. The whole of Cuba was to show why the revolution happened in the first place. The mafia used Cuba as their own little playground, along with the corporations that were there. While the mafia and corporations took advantage of the Cuban people, they lived in squalor under Baptista. Communism didn't just come out of nowhere, it was brewing and had been brewing since the 20s. The game has the Almeida mob, a Cuban mafia, but that doesn't make sense at all. Just about every Cubans hated organized crime and such an idea would have been shot down, literally. After Castro took charge, many of the casinos were taken over, nationalized and i believe ended up becoming apartments or something. It was such a huge blow to the mafia in the States that they were willing to work with the CIA for free. I always felt that the revolution scene in the movie was meant to give a light defense of the revolution. But the game takes all that nuance out.
scarface the world is is your is one of the best GTA Clones with Empire Building i’ve seen in my life. I hope the new Mafia has a “build your family, YOUR WAY and rise to the top” sort of thing
Imagine a game with the same kind of dons view and family building/war mechanics but also tied with a nemesis type system like from shadow of war. Families could hire new made men after you kill them, they remember if you tried to kill them and retaliate in kind, u could actually form alliances with families, ur men can be killed, and there is no necessary end game so you can keep waring with some rival families. That would be a 10/10 game concept there.
Godfather II: The Game was my favorite game for about a year when I found it on the PS Store on sale. To the point I even completed the game Melee only (it was hell tbh). Even got the DLC. Even as a ~12 y/o I saw the potential that the game could have had if give the care and love.
Played this game on day one, it was the only game I ever pre-ordered a physical copy of. Immediately, I was overcome with a feeling that I wasted my money. Naturally, I played through it twice to make sure I got the most out of the money spent, but was left wanting. The original game was far and away the better game, it's not even close. Larger, more lived-in world, better side missions, and some interesting exploration rewards, made the game feel much more interesting to play. It's a shame the original game was delisted from all online stores after the EA/Paramount contract expired. I would love to play it again, but I guess I will just have to settle for a playthrough series here on TH-cam.
This brings back memories years ago I bought this game and started playing it got to Florida and my ps3 I had for years and went green and crashed and will not turn back on I still have the system bought after one but haven't got the game out after watching this I'm gonna take apart and finish my play through
A nice 7/10 game fills the void between those masterpieces and is something nice to come home, throw on, and turn off your brain to. Mediocre games are the backbone of gaming, like mcdonalds or burger king. Ill always love my mid tier games
Genuinely appreciate your channel bro. You’ve been convering some of my favorites as a kid. Just recently brought a PS2 this week. Grabbing this & True Crime Streets of NY for nostalgic purposes.

I love this game nostalgia totally, but I don't care, I wish more games implimented the mechanics and mafia family building mechanics, also this game actually made you care about the people you recruit if you get into the game. I still fondly remember my first 3 guys. It's a very important game to me that I do feel could inspire future great Mafia building crime games.
*LOOVVEEEEE Godfather 1 and 2, they both need a remaster 👍👍 I actually consider Mafia 3 an unofficial Godfather game, it does all the things GF2 did and the combat is sooooo satisfying* 🙌
I think the "Godfather 2" epic fail was it didnt have that mafioso new york city feel. It felt like a "Vice City" reject little step brother. It wasnt an open world like the first part. It was an open environment with a tale of two cities (Miami & Havana Cuba). If i had to compare "Godfather 2" vs "Mafia 2"....most gamers will hats off automatically choose "Mafia 2". "Mafia 2" was very well written & it felt mafioso..... 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
The chance was there with the Mafia 3, they had the perfect set up to build your own crew like you do here, literally perfect but they didn't even think about it. The game was great but the system they had implemented in this game would've helped mafia 3s repetitiveness for sure cut it down a bunch, I went to go replay it again but I just can't do all that again 😂 I just watched bro's vid on it lmao
Please do the PSP games video as I always live to have more Fuzzy Slippers content to consume. Keep up tue amazing work my man as your content is just too good to pass up.
I made my top Lieutenant look like Paul Kersey from Deathwish and he was the only one in my crew that wore white pants and used a magnum pistol while everyone else was in all black running shotguns and rifles. The only reason it wasn’t a 10/10 game is because the online was trash. The online should have territories like the single player but as a coop game
I loved this game when I was a kid - the whole concept of taking over your own city and building your empire was so cool. Just a shame that there wasn’t much else to the game - could have really used more polish
I'm just now finding out there was a 2nd game. I loved the first one. Got it in the black box with the rose inside. Think it was the blackhand edition.
thanks for doing this fuzzy, i absolutely love this game, although it has flaws. feels like the perfect game to me to have my own little sopranos/maffia adventure
Until i saw your first video on the godfather on ps2 which i have fond memories of playing multiple times, I had no idea the player character was Aldo. Makes his death in the second game hit much harder. 😭
hey you forgot to mention this game has a manual witness system using the same mechanics as extortion! youll never worry about it but you can intimidate witnesses of murders and carjackings or whatever into silence, its pretty neat
This game was cheesy and less detailed compared to the first one, but I did like the RTS mechanic and firefights. I still have the game with me, but alas I need a new Xbox 360 controller 😅
My friend got the godfather 1 for his Xbox back in the day and genuinely didn’t like video games - so he kindly gave it to me. Boy oh boy I was LOCKED IN. Must’ve spent hours on end playing that while listening to 00’s alt rock. Very nostalgic. I subbed to your channel bc the quality is on point
It’s a good game. I wish ea play would add the godfather series of games to the digital store. I’d love to play through them again. But I swear if someone calls something a gta clone again I’m gonna lose my shit. They are the most popular sandbox crime series, they we’re not the first, and are certainly not the best
Must’ve completed this and the first one over 50 times. Both insane games. Playing the second again at the moment. Can easily complete it in less than a day. It’s great. They’d do wonders if they remade it.
I used to love this game, I am going to watch this full video!! This game would be so massive with the nemesis system and a 3 city map and massive!! Would be so sick!
One of the things that I found goofy, if visually practical, is that Dominic and his crew wear their bulletproof vests over their clothes. I don't know, to me it makes them look like a mafia SWAT team.
I loved this game . There was so much potential. I don’t think it was bad by any means but if they would have spun this off into its own “mafia “ type game with a real focus on the “strategy “ aspect , it could have been massive
The first Godfather game was great but idk what this was. It’s funny cuz there’s a good amount of people that think the 2nd movie is better than the first one, but you can’t say the same about the games lol
Played this game as a kid as well as the first, loved them both, is hard to only now realize how lucky i was to play them then, it's not on steam and my local GameStop doesn't have any in stock 😢😂
I had a lot of issues iwth Godfather 2 back in the day... but i also had more fun with it than with Mafia 2. I would love a remake of Godfather 1, bringing in some of the improvements of Godfather 2 with the family management (and toggable visuals for hte business rewards) and just generally further expanded. Mafia 2 probably was the better game and more compelling story.. but Mafia 2 was, for me, just more fun. You went big, running the family and stuff. A game mixing the best of Mafia and Godfather, set in the 20s, that would be my dream tbh.
I must have 100%'d this game...6-7 times. I know it's not the best, but since I played the OG Godfather 1 for on playthrough when it first came out on Playstation 2, this sequel seemed like a huge upgrade. Not just in terms of graphics, but the four man crew, the tree, the various paths to take to get a business, etc. etc. So, my nostalgia is making me biased. But I can see how people thought it was really bad. For example, I didn't realise that Aldo was the MC of the first game since I changed the name and only did the one playthrough.
I would totally play another Godfather game based on Part 3. I know it's not everyones favorite movie, but you can arguably make the best game based around it's story. All this said I really would just like another game in the same vein as this and the first one, but with more family building aspects.
Shoutout to Uzzano brothers! Make every game run much enjoyable A game that could be worth of Dons approval. Its still fun on occasion, but damn if i didnt feel annoyed by what is missing, scrapped or lost from previous game.
I'd honestly love to see you review the Mob Wars PSP port of The Godfather. It's definitely slimmed down and no freeroam, but the Mob Wars strategy-esq replacement of the freeroam business extortions was interesting.
I like this game I just finished for the first time the first one yesterday it's much more complete than the second one it's a shame a gta by EA he could have invested more for the second one and why not make a third one
I like this game and played it multiple times, but I do realize it was given a bare minimum treatment. Yeah, and New York City is more or less a tutorial city. The team aspect with the ability to customize your crew is what wins the day for me, along with the game's interactive map. I putchased it for 17$ back in 2015, so it wasn't rxactly a bank-breaker. I give the first Godfather an A-, while I consider the sequel a C.I mean, there's a lot of gameplay tools, like bribes and cohesion that really doesn't come into play, since the game is fairly easy. Upgraging your crew isn't really needed either; you can do it to pad your playthrough, but I just blew all that off. That being said, I still had a lot of fun with it.
For all its flaws, it's still probably my favorite mafia game. The combination of strategy and combat is something that has yet to be done again. I swear if it was not a movie tie in, and just its own story, it would have been 1000 times better, cause 90% of its flaws come from when you get confused about the plot changing and not making sense (like how you're the don of the Corleone family, and work directly under the real don of the Corleone family)
It’s an okay game like you said, I remember getting it when it came out and minus the made man system and the dons view I consider it a downgrade! Granted we got 3 “cities” now but I would’ve preferred the much more in detail setting like GF1 had instead of different cities cause honestly they all felt to confined. NYC was definitely only one neighborhood basically, Havana was mostly just all blocked off and couldn’t really do much since the army was literally all over that city so it was easy for anything to escalate into a full combat zone, Miami wasn’t bad I guess but felt to generic. I agree with your idea of a using the godfather 2s prequel setting it would’ve been cool seeing the character of ours being maybe Vito’s underboss since we could’ve been the guy in that role before Sonny maybe but it would I guess be hard to explain the characters fate after that time piece, but it would’ve worked if we did play as Vito since we could play his life out till we see him at the height of his power just before GF1 cause least that way we would know how Vito claimed so much power in the country cause we did it and then we already know the fate of Vito from the film so it would tie it up well
I've played both... Sadly I can't run the original on a newer computer and I was wondering if there were any tips on how to get it to work... I also managed 100% on PS2 and still like playing there to this day just to roam around the city... Even if it's not GTA (and back then I felt like it was better - actual I still do and I feel like it has its own character and personality) it feels immersive and it offers a huge city to explore and get lost in... Mafia II is a game I played but never felt like I was in the mood to continue playing, not to mention finishing... Almost everything about it felt like a complete turn off, from the Sims 3 graphics (or so they felt) to the weird moving animations, the cars being destroyed in a weird way (like if you just scratch another car, your vehicle is deformed worse than a GTA III car), to the small maps that look like Tony Hawk's levels. I wouldn't have minded if the creators had made two or more sequels, each for a unique place (like a sequel in Miami, one in Cuba, one in New York and one in Sicily and 1910's NY)... But something that I can sadly never overlook or forget is giving up the signature PS2 graphics which were charming for something that looks a bit comical
Sorry for the delay folks! Hope you enjoy the video!
Nope we are happy to get videos anytime
We need Max Payne 2 plsssss

-There WAS a 3rd game being worked on that got to a supposed pre alpha state but was scrapped when this game bombed.
-There was a scrapped favor called "Espionage" in the games text files.
-There is also three scrapped executions known as "Golden Gloves", "Electrocution" from the first game and "Thrown Down The Stairs" in the games text files.
-Dominic was supposed to promote one of his men based on some of the games audio files.

Imagine if rockstar made a mafia game.
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
What we need is a mafia rpg
The chance was there with the Mafia 3, they had the perfect set up to build your own crew like you do here, literally perfect but they didn't even think about it. The game was great but the system they had implemented in this game would've helped mafia 3s repetitiveness for sure cut it down a bunch, I went to go replay it again but I just can't do all that again 😂 I just watched bro's vid on it lmao
i just wanted to be able to wear a normal suit with a tie like so many npc's do, btw DO NOT CHANGE BILL BARDI'S SUIT YOU CANNOT GET THE SAME ONE BACK
Godfather 2 was an on game. I remeber getting tierd of the repetitiveness... but finished it
This game has one benefit, it makes me want to rewatch the awesome scenes again.
Dominic: The Italian of Dojima
16:50 Ralphie telling Dom that knee slapper about Ginny Sac.
Ha ha, I once made my arsonist look like Paul Kersey😆.
I loved this game when I was a kid - the whole concept of taking over your own city and building your empire was so cool. Just a shame that there wasn’t much else to the game - could have really used more polish
always love your content, keep up the good work
I'm just now finding out there was a 2nd game. I loved the first one. Got it in the black box with the rose inside. Think it was the blackhand edition.
I got this game here on CD and I forgot owning it. But now that I saw those ridiculous take downs I remember playing it
RIP Aldo.
You were a real mafia dude.
Imagine this game with the nemesis system as a mechanic in the game
as soon as i saw that the new york map was so laughably small i knew it was gonna be bad
You can't just throw that Cyberpunk song at me like that. At least give me some warning first 🤣💀
thanks for doing this fuzzy, i absolutely love this game, although it has flaws. feels like the perfect game to me to have my own little sopranos/maffia adventure
I remember when tbis game came out. It was easily one of my favorite games back then.
22:00 I see bro is as traumatised as me from edge runners
I used to love this game, I am going to watch this full video!! This game would be so massive with the nemesis system and a 3 city map and massive!! Would be so sick!
One of the things that I found goofy, if visually practical, is that Dominic and his crew wear their bulletproof vests over their clothes. I don't know, to me it makes them look like a mafia SWAT team.
This game definitely could have carried itself without needing to tie to The Godfather 2. I love the empire building and henchmen tactics.
I loved this game . There was so much potential. I don’t think it was bad by any means but if they would have spun this off into its own “mafia “ type game with a real focus on the “strategy “ aspect , it could have been massive
Just wanted to say, love all your videos revisiting games! So indepth and detailed, as well as covering the story
The first Godfather game was great but idk what this was. It’s funny cuz there’s a good amount of people that think the 2nd movie is better than the first one, but you can’t say the same about the games lol
I can, I think this game is better than the 1st. I like the don feeling you get playing this game, doubt we'll ever get that in another game tbh.
@@airboruto23 Mafia 1-2 is pretty good one. ALso Scarface The World Is Yours.
@@airboruto23 imo second one is way better
Let's go! Been looking forward to this one
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL MAN !! its been a year since i subscribed to your channel. Your my favorite❤❤
Played this game as a kid as well as the first, loved them both, is hard to only now realize how lucky i was to play them then, it's not on steam and my local GameStop doesn't have any in stock 😢😂
playing godfather mob wars on my phone right now, perfect timing lol. tom doesnt look right in this 😂
Had no clue this even existed 😂
Played the original a couple times over, the extortion and bank robbery missions were always a blast
Imagine the nemesis system applied to this type of game remastered
The Godfather: Reloaded is still the best movie of all time.
😂
This is really good storytelling great job
I had a lot of issues iwth Godfather 2 back in the day... but i also had more fun with it than with Mafia 2. I would love a remake of Godfather 1, bringing in some of the improvements of Godfather 2 with the family management (and toggable visuals for hte business rewards) and just generally further expanded.
Mafia 2 probably was the better game and more compelling story.. but Mafia 2 was, for me, just more fun. You went big, running the family and stuff.
A game mixing the best of Mafia and Godfather, set in the 20s, that would be my dream tbh.
Love your videos so much, thanks for this.
Thanks for doing this video!
The intro music is wild bro😂
we need a remake of this game
Hell yeah new vid and it’s my day off
Every time I make Dominic look like Hugh Jackman from his Wolverine run.. minus the Hair obviously.
The most upgraded pistol looked terrible and i was so mad it didnt let you choose to use a different look.
Good video's man.
Shoutout to Uzzano brothers! Make every game run much enjoyable
A game that could be worth of Dons approval. Its still fun on occasion, but damn if i didnt feel annoyed by what is missing, scrapped or lost from previous game.
This was my shit I can't believe I forgot about this masterpiece
I'd honestly love to see you review the Mob Wars PSP port of The Godfather. It's definitely slimmed down and no freeroam, but the Mob Wars strategy-esq replacement of the freeroam business extortions was interesting.
Yay you finally did play this I am eager to see your opinion
Damn, it's weird hearing my name anywhere else outside of the shade of red that shares this name.
First half of the game would be a doozy for you
I like this game I just finished for the first time the first one yesterday it's much more complete than the second one it's a shame a gta by EA he could have invested more for the second one and why not make a third one
This was a top 5 all time game for me and I never watched any of the movies .. wonder if thats why I enjoyed the game so much?!?
I cannot seem to find any source which allows me to buy this game, its a damn shame. It was an awesome little game.
