The Real Godfather movie was about Colonel Sanders rise to power, but Coppola decided it would be kinda expensive to get him in the movie and had to ask the writers to redo the script all over again. What a movie we lost.
Square and minime? I wasn't expecting this crossover. Ok to be serious now, i really didn't know about you liking this kind of tie in games, i am planning to play the first one, but idk if i will drop that decision and play mafia instead, looks more interesting to me
Godfather 2 is one of my most favorite games of all time BECAUSE of the family features and i just havent been able to find another game with that feature to even compare to it. Its literally one of a kind. The managing and micro managing or whatever you wanna call it really made the game for me. I could send 2 squads to go take over businesses for me and id could take one myself or if i didnt feel like defending or losing a business i could just send people over and have it taken care of. The game was wicked easy i distinctly remember not wanting armored cars or bullet proof vests because it started to become TOO easy for me and kind of took the fun out of it. I also intentionally didnt like taking over every business or killing every mobster because that was half the fun being able to be at war with other families. But again i dont have another game with the same features to compare it to if anyone knows of a game similar please let me know
Honestly the closest thing to it is what he mentioned Shadow of war and Mordor. I'm not even a fan of Lord of the rings but the game play outside of the combat feels very similar to the family building in this. Hire an orc train him up and then he betrays you once you do the big take over fights. Or your favourite orc dies only for you to find out he lived when he comes to save you from dying.
Compared to the other games he usually does, Scarface's actually pretty popular. That said, it is cool to see him talking about Scarface The World is Yours.
It has some good features in it, but after playing for few hours I got bored, the gameplay gets too much repetetive (get money, buy business, protect business, repeat). It has some potential, but I couldn't get myself to finish it.
This is actually my friend's favorite game of all time and if not for him I would probably not know of it. It should also be noted that he has never watched any of the godfather movies.
I found it disappointing compared to the first game, but still had hella fun. I had never seen the films at that time too, but I'm a big fan of the first two now.
Finished it many times. Loved the game It has a lot of cool features that should be used in future open-world games like GTA. I'd love to go to the airport and fly from Liberty City to Vice City and have a business in each city ran by my own criminal organization.
I get the impression with Godfather II that EA saw how successful GTA: Vice City was and told the devs "make it more like that". So any accuracy went right out of the window. Then again The Godfather and accuracy have never been good bedfellows, when US Gold had the rights they wanted to make Godfather IV, but set in the future and in space. But that went so far away from it's roots, they ended up renaming it: Flashback instead!
This is one of those game that left me wanting more, I wanted this to be a gigantic open world with tons of business to take over and strategically defend, but the cities are small and there aren't that many business... I'm still yearning for that dream GTA-like open world game with more deep and properly implemented gang warfare/mafia business mechanics... Hoping for GTA 6 to return to Vice City and do just that, Vice City did "kinda" start the business takeover thing in these kind of games. Also, try out Scarface the World is Yours.
I agree! I had really high hopes for this game and followed its development and pre-ordered it (Godafther II was a huge letdown in comparison to Godfather I). I have been following the development of Empire of Sin, which is slated to be released some time in the fall of 2020. The developer mentioned that their main influences in making the game (which is set in 1920s Chicago) are XCom and Civilization: Revolution (for leaders who have interesting backstories and an impact on the gameplay). While this won't be the same as the third person open world games like GTA, Mafia and the Godfather, taking over businesses and running rackets will hopefully be part of an enjoyable gameplay loop.
I love both of the Shadow of War games and can't wait to see what Monolith does next. Let's hope they flesh out nemesis even more and put it in a new setting.
I was talking with some friends a long time ago about how it woulda been cool if mafia 3 had a nemisis system and how it wouldve made the game a thousand times more engaging
@patrick howard in such a wierd way as well. The opening is very strong, but then immediately takes a nosedive in quality after the big betrayal. It felt like an updated godfather part 2 on the 360. Its pretty much the exact same gameplay actually. And the mafia in mafia 3 is hardly present, which i found disappointing. It just seemed to be endless killing over and over and i was like "wheres the story." Not to mention the combat being fairly janky and had the battelfront 2 "playing with action figures" feel. The driving and music is great though, especially if you change the driving physics to simulation in the settings.
I played this game to the point that there was no fun in it at all, it just got so boring. unlike the first game, this game got no narrative perspective at all, it's just a never ending repeat of the same squad based combat, I don't know why it's even named "Godfather". this game is the definition of cheap cash grab licensed title. the fact that they didn't even bother recreating the places (I mean 50s Miami and cuba? so much potential right there) they just sloppily put together a map, it didn't even had a basic static lighting 💀 Lol
Sadly the creators of the godfather games already announced way back that they are done with the godfather games. Don't think we'll be seeing a new game anytime soon.

this video made me buy the game, I freaking love it!!!! I would recommend this game for anyone who loves games like Saints Row 1 and 2. As long as you just want to have a good fun time without worrying about a complex story or world and just wanna take over Cuba, New York, and Florida while dismantling other families along the way I would say go buy it, also its not very expensive as gamestop has it for $15.
He’s right about a lot of the features, and mind you I never played the first Godfather but somehow I know that a lot of material is missing in the second one. Like he says, this game strays away from the source material in the movie, whereas The first game at least looks like you’re playing in the movie. Then there’s the painfully cringy glitching when playing but I did have plenty of fun shooting up the rivals and doing the side missions, especially blowing up the rival’s mansions, but still, I felt like more gameplay could’ve been added. Needless to say this one was enjoyable but disappointing at the same time.
My brother bought this for me as a Christmas gift right after it released, when I looked at the case I was like "Hell yeah, this looks sick". I was especially excited since I played through the first and loved it. Then I played it for about 3 hours....
If I'm gonna be honest, The Godfather 2 is probably my most Favorite game I've played. Probably because of how I played that game alot. Don't get me wrong, it's completely bugged and rushed. The story was completely Rushed and is Incredibly quick. Hell, I think you can actually beat the game in probably under a day if you know what you're doing. The overall gameplay is repeative and that's all there is, repeats. The graphics look ugly at moments. All the Cities feel completely Empty, like seriously, I sometimes feel like the streets are wide without any street objects. The maps are incredibly Small, like seriously, the first map we play on is NEW YORK. A Massive Metropolis, but in the game it feels like just some small city. Oh, and for some reason, Miami is more bigger then New York, and even then, Miami is still small. And it's final map, Cuba.. *Dear Christ above, Cuba..* Is so incredibly small, Smaller then NEW YORK. That's pretty ridiculous for a Final Map. And the overall game doesn't give you a good reason to play again, but for some Reason, I always find myself doing so. *(Apologies for the Long Paragraph)*
It would have been cool if the game could read your Godfather 1 save data and import the appearance of your version of Aldo. A nice little bonus for owning both games on the same platform.
The fun parts of this game reminds me of Crackdown on XBox. There weren’t more than a handful of missions, and pretty much no quests. The game just pointed you towards the crime bosses, and expected you to make your own fun along the way. It was surprisingly effective!

this video made me buy the game, I freaking love it!!!!
Sold. Gonna get it. I'm sure it'll increase in price years down the road
I loved this game back on the 360, it also had a fun multiplayer
He’s right about a lot of the features, and mind you I never played the first Godfather but somehow I know that a lot of material is missing in the second one. Like he says, this game strays away from the source material in the movie, whereas The first game at least looks like you’re playing in the movie. Then there’s the painfully cringy glitching when playing but I did have plenty of fun shooting up the rivals and doing the side missions, especially blowing up the rival’s mansions, but still, I felt like more gameplay could’ve been added. Needless to say this one was enjoyable but disappointing at the same time.
I absolutely lost my shit with that intro. Good job, well done, my sides are in orbit.
First game I ever beat by myself on my dads old PC after he got this at 5 below lol . So much nostalgia
The Godfather games were extremely fun mob games that hold a place in my heart.
This game is fun, I don;t care if it's silly or strays from the source material. Great game
Imagine a Godfather type game with the nemise system in it
Can't imagine a minimme video without the elevator stock music in the background at the start
*Dear Christ above, Cuba..*
Is so incredibly small, Smaller then NEW YORK.
That's pretty ridiculous for a Final Map.
And the overall game doesn't give you a good reason to play again, but for some Reason, I always find myself doing so.
*(Apologies for the Long Paragraph)*
I bought this on eBay like 3 months ago and I still like just as much as when I’d rent it as a kid
It would have been cool if the game could read your Godfather 1 save data and import the appearance of your version of Aldo. A nice little bonus for owning both games on the same platform.
A "tie-in" is something released simultaneous or close to the main product. There's 35 years between these 2.......
Got a orginal xbox recently, and got to play God Father on it, its jarrying how much more effort was put in it compared to the second one.
The online scene for this game was amazing miss those times.
The fun parts of this game reminds me of Crackdown on XBox. There weren’t more than a handful of missions, and pretty much no quests. The game just pointed you towards the crime bosses, and expected you to make your own fun along the way. It was surprisingly effective!
Thumbnail out here looking like the "had to do it to em" kid
Godfather 1 was one of my all time favs video games.
13:09 I literally could not concentrate on what you were saying due to the war going on behind lol
