  • Hue's oldest ruins date back to the 4th century and is thought to be the OLDEST city in Vietnam.
    The age of this beautiful city alone made it a must see on our Vietnam list.
    In this video we walk through the streets of Hue and end up exploring the ancient imperial city in what was Imperial Vietnam before we get to try some great Vietnamese food at a restaurant near by!

      Hue seems to be such a beautiful place. Im planning to visit vietnam in august/September. From what ive read online, hue and hanoi have heavy rainfall during those months. Is it true? Would you recommend visiting those places and vietnam in general in those months?

    Hue has got to be one of the most chilled cities in VN. Even the people of Hue are renown for their calm and cool demeanor, with very soft voice, but their self determination and strong will are uber strong even by Vietnamese standard.

    It’s worth considering that any ancient buildings/monuments you see in tropical climate countries is that they were built in the scorching heat/humidity. Honesty, when I’m in south east Asia, I just want to sit in an AC cafe with a cold drink in hand and chill. Absolute respect for the ancient people and their constructions.

    Hue is very beautiful and poetic. Btw, if you want to learn more about the ancient architecture of Vietnam, you can go to Đường Lâm ancient village located in the west of Hanoi about 44km from the center. The village still retains many ancient architectures from several hundred years ago, but compared to Hue or Hoi An, the village is less well known and also quieter.

Such a beautiful country, and I’m so glad that I have decided to retire here now. Thanks @thienngannguyen7320 for the rec of ancient village closer to Hanoi. I’ll be up there in 2 weeks to do the Ha Giang Loop on motorbike with my daughter. Pretty psyched about that!

    Huế is the land of poetry and literature. It is peaceful, quiet and romatic in the eye of Vietnamese people. It used to be the capital of Vietnam. This is where BBH or Bun Bo Hue, a super delicious Vietnanese dish originates. I have not been able to find anywhere else a place which serves such tasty BBH as here. Hue is one of the main tourist attractions in Vietnam.

    I love ancient-ness of the Imperial City. The detail and intricacy in the architecture is beautiful! As far as the food, that is the weirdest banh cuon I've seen yet. It looks just like a spring roll, which is what you had next. LOL! You should have tried it in Saigon even though it comes from the north (Hanoi doesn't add all the extras like they do down south).

    • @JordanandEmily
      @JordanandEmily  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @hungcuongnguyen293
      @hungcuongnguyen293 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually it`s not Banh Cuon , like in the North or in Saigon . It `s Banh Uot Thit Nuong , a specialty of Huê

    • @doodahgurlie
      @doodahgurlie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hungcuongnguyen293 Well, even the banh uot is different than other parts of Vietnam. Banh uot is basically banh cuon, but the way it's served in Hue, it looks like a spring roll. The banh uot I'm familiar with, it's banh cuon, but without the meat inside and you don't eat it like a spring roll with your fingers. It's eaten off the plate with chopsticks and dipped or be uncivilized like me and dump the fish sauce on top and mix, then eat it. Hahaha!

      Civil war, what do you mean. North Vietnam has never fought with South Vietnam, so remember that this is a war of 3 regions, North Central and South unite against the US and its henchmen. The Cu Chi Tunnels represent the will, strength, courage and hard work of the people of the South who are resilient against the US.

    • @hungcuongnguyen293
      @hungcuongnguyen293 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@atnb8148 Be honest with yourself guy . About 5 years after the Geneva agreement , the North Vietnamese government already planned to invade South Vietnam in order to reunify the country (which I totally agree ) , by organizing a guerilla war there . At that time , they always denied that they were behind the coup . The young Southern army was very weak , so the Saigon`s government had to call for help from the US In 1963 , the first American marines landed in Da Nang and the opened war really started . The Hanoi`s troops were sent to the South via the Ho Chi Minh trail to attack the Saigon and American soldiers . That war lasted 12 years from 1963 to 1975 . But by 1969 the American administration felt that they could not win and started the peace talk in Paris . In 1973 an agreement was signed to stop temporary the fight , in order to give an honorable exit to the Americans . The South Vietnamese knew already that their American allies were giving them up . April 30th 1975 was the last day of the Republic of Vietnam (South VN) . What happened in Saigon 47 years ago was repeated in Kaboul ( Afghanistan ) . So Toan , either you didn`t know anything about the war ( maybe you were too young to know ) or you still don`t want to acknowledge the truth . Just be honest with yourself and with History dude . Today , even the current Vietnamese government is no longer hiding the fact that the North had sent troops to the South to fight against the South Vietnamese army and their American ally . Hope all those informations would help you to understand why I call that North-South war , a civil war .
