Buttons please that would be nice, the previous generation BMW idrive was perfectly fine. 😣
Indeed
You will have all the buttons you need on the steering wheel.
Why do car companies hate buttons ?!
You will have all the buttons you need on the steering wheel.
Because it’s cheaper to produce!
We need Buttons
Buttons????
Why ? 😂
Il va y avoir l’IA avec le Personal Assistant en commande vocale
@@fabienbismes4757I don't want to have to talk to my car. We already solved low-distraction interaction with car equipment via tactile buttons. There was no need to reinvent the wheel.
AI is gimmick. It's designed for people who think they're smart, but keep following the corporate trend despite the disadvantages to them.
I hope more automakers bring buttons back. It's annoying having everything be on a touch screen.
Soon the steering wheel too becomes an extra 😋
on the steering wheel, where they should belong.

Feel free to take feedback from the BMW lover audience
Drag and drop widgets in stupid little placeholders, are we back in 2010 ? And what about adding some buttons to the dash for a change ?
Love it! Looks very slick! Hope the strangely shaped displace is a concept thing. Hope production intent is a rectangle. Maybe angled towards the driver for that BMW feel.
Sorry to break your heart, but this is the final look before its reveal in June
@ Yeah I know… Hoping that it’s 85% baked, and maybe there is some hope of a bit of common sense before production. But in my heart I think you’re right. I really wanted to like this but it’s the same mistake as the iX “strange for the sake of being strange”. Frankly I like how the iX looks better than this. Very disappointing. I don’t understand why it’s so hard. New BMW designs are always controversial but they are really going out of there way. My eye is wondering to Polestar and Cadillac.
BMW Please run a test: ask users to perform tasks on Old Gen iDrive vs New Gen iDrive and see who’s able to complete their action quicker.
That doesn’t even take into account doing this when you’re trying to drive. 😩
Great!!! Like the shape of the screen
npc
Amazing! :)
I want buttons and a rectangle display,
I want to live in the past again, where distruction was not as high and was not touchscreens, lights, everywhere. I feel like robocop.
Impressive! 😮😮
BMW clearly needs more touchscreens, more LEDs, and approximately zero buttons. The transmission? Oh, just hide it behind the Netflix widget - who needs gears when you're binge-watching?
Electric Cars don’t have transmissions. -> future is electric.
You clearly live in 2014
0:33 ...and iDrive controller. I forgot to say: iDrive controller.
They completely lost the sense for the BMW heritage and DNA. I assume none of the people shown in this video have ever driven up a winding mountain road in an E30. Reduced and clear instruments. Real buttons. A dash focused on the driver. A real joy.
Not a Prius on steroids.
We need buttons and also, make the buttons do what it's meant to do, not a shortcut to the setting that then needs to be pressed again
Freude am Fahren weicht der Freude am Spielen
Can't wait to see the new 3 series on the Neue Classe platform ❤❤❤
Oh yeah the UI/UX team did an amazing job.
Do they ever try using their interface while driving?
Quiet a lot.
Good to see a lot of women have been involved in the development of the system.
This is really starting to look like cyber punk 2077 type tech, this is a lot closer to the future but now I'm thinking is it really worth it. now I'm already reminiscing about the past inventions of what makes a car. -__-
Hope it works. The software on my 2024 iX is very buggy !
Who asked for this? Why is BMW so damn focused on removing the driver's experience? You've moved critical driver information as far away as possible, difficult to find, more difficult to focus upon then respond to as well just wildly potentially dangerous for all the excessive scanning for information.
This is also a styling fail. The aesthetic is bleak. Oh, but here's this lack of interface and a tablet people keep telling you they want gone.
Really, all I want to know is who asked for it? Who at BMW said, 'Ignore the driver. We'll tell them what they want. Shareholders are our priority!'
Seriously BMW, clear the place of all your skinny pant wearing clones and get some frig'n car people in the room already.
I’m a car guy and this is epic. If you want an old BMW, go buy an old BMW.
@@AndreiGonzalesDesign Right so, the use of epic here completely discredits the claim of being a car guy. I mean, maybe a rental car guy. Also, what do older BMW's have to do with Neue Klasse showing up being that cheap in material selection and use? BMW has clowned you here, car guy.
@@konspikuous420 Reserve the material discussion for the production car. What this shows is a very usable and updated dash where drivers no longer need to tilt their head away from the road to see information they are looking for. Rather than fumbling with menus and screen layers, I can just assign the key bits of info *I* generally need to whichever space I want on the panoramic display, and still have a separate augmented reality display for my map-related info. It's very much an 80/20 approach to in-car information. BMW also reinforced the importance of steering wheel controls and improved them, rather than try to cut them out for cost cutting like Tesla does. This is properly thought-out driver-focused UX for modern (a.k.a. digital) experiences.
@@AndreiGonzalesDesign Are you? 🤣
@@davidtop6242 th-cam.com/video/cvqZ2c62n-c/w-d-xo.html
I shouldn't have to take my eyes off the road to change the climate control settings. On my F80 I can set a/c, temperature, recirculation, heated seats, defroster, and more without taking my eyes off the road.
What happened? Who is asking for this? You saw the flashy, "tech forward" XM was a sales failure. Why continue down this path?
I am extremely disappointed.
Looking at the video it was designed by a bunch of women
@@sebastians_ the CTO presenting it is a man. He is the ultimate decider on what to implement, and he signed off on every feature shown here. The fact that BMW doesn't adhere to 1930s gender standards has nothing to do with how dogshit the new design is.
With every iDrive generation BMW goes for a new way to interact with a car. iDrive controller -> screen -> gestures -> voice. And now it's time for something new. I'm pretty sure that iDrive X will bring the comfort to another level, the iDrive 8 was kind of a not a complete step of a transformation from buttons to screen - you had to interact with the screen itself most of the time (which is, undoubtedly, a disadvantage). But it was necessary for analysing the experience of drivers to build a system that will meet everyone's (or at least the greatest part) expectations.
@@alliumpro I don't understand how having to talk to your car is an improvement in any way. What if your kid is sleeping in the back? What if you're carrying on a conversation on the phone?
Why would you try to fix something that isn't broken? Most automakers have already tried alternative methods of input and it didn't go well (Volkswagen fired an executive over it). It's well documented that the removal of buttons is a cost saving measure for automakers - don't make excuses about "the next generation of input" for a company that's clearly just trying to save a few bucks.
@ I guess you noticed how interaction with a smartphone, smart home, etc. is changing to voice chat rather than typing. Because it's more natural and easier. But I think there are two bigger points. We are switching from manual to automatic driving. Slowly, but se are on that track. I'm not stating, but it's much safer to do something on screen with all the safe assists, than to try to do any other things that imply looking on the centre console as well (personally, i don't think that i'll be able to press the right button without watching, and for me it's actually safer to say it rather than searching for a button to push). But it's just my personal experience. The second points is of course the market. Mostly anyone from 18 to 30-40 (with an unlimited amount of money, suppose) will choose a more high-tech car with beautiful and sleek design and more screens. Of course, there are plenty of preferences among drivers, but the target audience of BMW has shifted from the older generations. There are plenty of cars with physical buttons, and i know that they won't degrade for another 10-20 years. But the BMW had always had revolutionary steps in their evolution.
so many gadgets viewed in this demo ... it´s already distracting to the driver. What I don't get is who needs the weather widget on the passenger side displayed? I'm sure you can adjust this but it´s still far away from the drivers field of view ... Dimming everything which is not needed to drive would be great. The only thing I wish for is a fast enough processor to power that fancy stuff and not making a laggy slideshow out of it.
La génération Neue Klasse devrait fonctionner avec un ordinateur central à la façon de Tesla et avec des processeurs Intel. Ça va être la folie
If you don't want progress, you don't have to have it
@@andrewgreen8388 It´s not correct because at some point you can´t decide if you buy a car like this. Some many accidents because of distracted drivers and the resolution is to put more gadgets in the car? Maybe this will stop when every car is self driving. Maybe then also road rage will finally stop. Don´t get me wrong but fancy animations etc. are not providing anything to the experience of driving itself. It simply needs more time until you see the information you are looking for.
Will screen orientation change for Right hand drive vehicles ?
Please no capacitive buttons
Will we see Apple Car play in the Panoramic Vision Display, or will Car Play be limited to the centre screen?
Imagine if the new long display in the back will be compatible with apple car play 😶😶
So, are we expecting another round of designer team firings in bmw in 2025? I hear more and more people switching to Audi as the last harbor of what used to be user ergonomics. How is it possible that such brand as bmw handed over cockpit design to yesterdays graduates who have no idea about user ergonomics and usability? They are just coping everything from chinese brands, but even that they are doing very poorly and childishly naive - let's sprinkle lot of colors all around the dashboard as it looks so much fun and unicorny
I prefer the design of my 2022 X3 M40i I've owned 9 BMWs and I like the older driver-focused interiors better, this looks like a Lincoln, just my opinion😢
Buttons = user friendly!
Bmw ist immer beliebter
For me, the best iDrive is 4 & 6
I'm not sure why people think buttons are coming back. The same way yall got used to cell phones with no buttons, you will get used to a car with no buttons. It's called the future and advancement in techology.
VW are bringing buttons back. It's just very distracting to operate a touch screen while driving
@jomo2483 *voice control*. Besides, there isn't much on there you should need to be operating while driving. The basics are pretty accessible. VW & BMW do not have the same audience. Ain't nobody cross shopping a BMW to a VW. . . That's like saying you are gonna buy a blackberry because it still has buttons.
Comparar um carro com celular parabéns!
FEGELEIN!!! FEGELEIN!!! FEGELEIN
You have to share. It's just amazing
❤❤❤❤❤
The information system looks like borrowing the design from Huyndai or Honda Civic. It does not look elegant or classy at all.
Whilst wearing sunglasses, Will the panoramic display have the same limitations as the current HUDs ?
How to run Apple CarPlay on such display?
Actually Apple already anounced that CarPlay will take a similar way away from a single screen being displayed to a more dynamic setup with multiple screens that would be taken over by the iPhone then, including car velocity and other technical car attributes..
not rectangle? 🫣
Hi there,
the BMW Operating System X provides the prerequisites for using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto in the vehicle - irrespective of the shape of the Central Display. For example, we already integrated Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on non-rectangular display shapes for the current generation of our MINI vehicles on a round OLED display.
@@BMWGroup Thanks for the reply. I found a video about the CarPlay on your round screen and it looks fantastically awful. I have never seen such a disgustingly awkward design 🤮
@@BMWGroup Don't you feel that a rectangular content (Carplay) on a non-rectangular display will look stupid? (Not to mention the wasted space.)
No never use custom electonic screens. Only install docking stations for user provided phones and tablets. Only use analog gauges for BMW provided information. Only use the most primative descrete input devices for factory installed controls. Simplify for the customer not for BMW's benefit. Simplify for the customers ability to replace and upgrade electronic devices. Simplify so customers can use their phone and tablets with their personal connectivity contracts/plans. Never provide additional connectivity services or plans. Simplify the customers data security.
If a customer has to read the manual before he can pull his car out of his driveway...you might just need to rethink things.
::slowly raises hand:: Ummm....I have a question...what happens if a rock flies up and cracks your windshield? I double Safelite is going to be able to replace this...
Hello BMW Group.
I have a question to ask you.
Will the BMW iDrive X going to be upgraded in older BMW such as BMW X series like 2022-2024, Z series 2021-2024, BMW 1 series until 7 series 2019-2024 and will the BMW Hybrid vehicle that came out in 2022- 2024 will they going to be upgraded into iDrive X.
I don't think it can be done and BMW always abandons its old customers, unlike Tesla. I don't see any BMW models that can be updated. There is no way to put these features in older models.
@goodbyemyprince7107 okay.
I have 4 questions to ask you.
1. Which BMW vehicles are going to have iDrive X?
2. What kind of extra features will the BMW owner going to have in iDrive X?
3. Will the BMW going to support the BMW hybrid like IX, IX2 series, or the new Generation of BMW iDrive X?
4. Will the iDrive X going to support Apple car play or Androind auto for android users.
The reason I'm asking you is because I have a BMW x6 competition in 2023, and I love the features of the BMW vehicles, such as heated with a massage seats, self-parking like in BMW 7 series while the driver remove the acceleration pedals and etc.
I can't wait to get my hands on the BMW vehicles that come with iDrive X.
@@goodbyemyprince7107 Tesla hasn't significantly changed their actual cars since they came out. All the owners are getting are software updates on tablets. Where's the next all-new S? Next X? Next 3? Next Y? Once they build a car, there's no next gen/version of the car. The Neue Klasse cars are completely new from the ground up.
@@harounrengua8794 They answered most of those in the full presentation.
1. All *new* BMW vehicles starting from the Neue Klasse SUV coming out late 2025 will have this. They said *ALL* models, not just EVs.
2. You'll have to wait for the production version to know all the features, but if you watch the presentation, they show the new features.
3. Answered this in number 1.
4. Yes. They said Apple Car Play will still be in.
@AndreiGonzalesDesign okay thank you so much.
I'm looking forward to experience the new iDrive X.
Is it true that BMW will release a BMW X8.
They sure live in some bubble.
Not one comment saying yes this is what we needed. BMW doesn't do market exploration.
Justblook at hiw overengeneered its development isnin the backend.
All they needed is AI translating what I want into finding of showing me the function.
You have to take a month class to learn all the names features logics...
I be damned if 10% jkuse even half of it.
And in the end the font amd displayed information looks to small there all the way down the windshield
Looks like the Lincoln and Cadillac. Looks as if the information will be difficult to see...
Please make it more responsive. My M135 is very slow
When was the point when you noticed you forgot the Display and had to screw it on the Dashboard instead to integrate it?
Displaying information on a narrow strip far away from the driver isn't a bright idea and won't resonate well with older customers with weaker vision - you know, those are the guys who can afford this stuff in the first place.
Also, please bring back turning knobs for volume, temperature and the light switch.
these people in the video look exactly how you'd expect, DEI hires
All that development and no buttons - come on!
Congratulations. Since 2014 the first mockups? You really spent 10 years into this bs that nobody was asking for? You had the most iconic cockpits! You can literally read everwhere that customers want physical buttons back
I love it . Good job guys🤩
bro put orientation first but his eyes reconfiguration
We got Peugeot 3 series before we got GTA 6
Get rid of the steering wheel too and not just the buttons 😏
This interior remind me of 2015 Toyota Prius. For me, it is far from what is called German Premium and looks like the interior designed by Chinese startup automakers. And why do the steering wheel looks so horrible??
Who is going to tell them lincoln already done this?
There only goal is: how they can save more money for profits
While other demos showed no buttons this video is a last straw of hope. Please keep some physical buttons on the wheel or you will loose long time fans including myself.
I still don’t understand
I see new M3 with this :D
I don‘t want this. Reduced to nothing digital BS. BMW had the best cockpits in the early 2000s. Now it is swiping menus and lack of buttons. Just to safe money in production. Not my BMW anymore. Bye!
So ugly and not driver friendly. Please BMW get some more senior designers on the case.
No longer ultimate drive machine, driving computer now😅 focus on road condition is more important than fancy infographic
Nobody likes screens.. especially touch buttons
Looks like a citroen from 15 years ago. Ugly then ugly now. Bring back buttons and a normal gear shifter.
Driver safety is our last priority, gimmicky Tesla try-hard first.
-BMW 2026
So many people hated Telsa for being minimalistic. Now bmw is following after Tesla 😂
Model 3 clone. BMW designs have lost their way
Looks like avart 07 copycat
Great, now the BMW Group thinks it’s Silicon Valley. 🙄 This is what happens when out of touch execs think ‘everybody’ wants screens now and it’s the ‘future’. It’s fun to see UI/UX designers, software / computer engineers, and the quality assurance team having a grand ole time. But please - I don’t want my car to become my smartphone. Stop confusing and merging the two!
ugly
Who needs this? Are you sure? Who used voice control ever or gesture control? Where is a seat heating subscription? This is BS boys. Grow up. Be serious. Don't kill The Ultimate Driving Machine.
👀👀👀
Dmn! Because of these chinese and tesla big screens, even the german luxury cars making these huge displays. I missed those buttons.
👀
Screens are pretty. Pretty useless as a safety factor. Give me a knob to turn. A button to push. Something I can feel. Something that gives direct feedback. Radios had buttons to push when choosing a station. You did not look at the radio. You did not have to. You touched the first button (You knew where that first button was from memory) and moved across them to button 4. Build feedback like my finger gets crossing those buttons and I will be happier. Give me a little of that haptic feedback when I move across them so I can find #4 easily. Do not make me look away from the road. Screens are an attention diverter.
Cars have sadly become smartphones... Big battery, large screen, no button. Nobody wants to know how they drive - Cars are now fully interchangeable, leased, soulless machines. 😭
All going downhill after idrive 7 and the obsession to remove buttons and user friendly controls or forcing voice commands. I don’t want to give a 10 sec explanation to my car when I could use less than a sec pressing a button before.
I am on my 5th bmw, and - watching this - it will be my last bmw.
These ad reminds me to the new jag ads. Shiny and woke. No thanks.
Looks flashy and seems to have involved a lot of work. But... very sorry - try to drive at night time with intense rain, on a bumpy road, windy conditions and take your eyes off the road to touch the screen ??? Human to machine interaction and ergonomics ? Safety ?
BMW engineers - are you ready to take this challenge on the road and away from your static lab ?
Simplicity ? Ergonomics ? Haptic buttons on the wheel ? Even VW took a step back. Why BMW ? You must have a good reason to do this.
They still have borders around the touch elements on the steering wheel. So you can feel where your fingers lie and use muscle memory to press the touch elements!
More and more useless tech... And less, less BMW. Just build real cars with feeling and don't joke with your heritage!
BMW please ignore the clowns who call for buttons.
BMW has almost removed all the great features drivers want. the BMW designers hate drivers so much these dudes have no clue of what a great vehicle shoule be like instead they want to make a car in a way of making a smart phone.
Great. Having women designing the UI and talking about animations, because people actually prefer long animations instead of immediate action??!!
What do people use the most?? Their phones. Here is your guide. This is why Tesla is miles ahead.
It's horrible. End of BMW joy of driving as we know.
Matt Watson not gonna like it
UI/UX still in shitty Windows Vista, winamp style. Jesus. Just get a 3rd party vendor to make the software up to current standard. Looks so dated always.
Strange brag. Quantum leap is on an atomic scale i.e. extremely small.
Now bmw copies chineses brands?
Sometimes new developments are worser in terms of useability and acceptence. I will not accept it. 👎
Mini Cooper BMW Style 🤮
Be useful for flashing up reminders that BMW's come with indicators just like every other car, because your drivers sure don't realise.
