  • Ive decided to make my Carpuride W903 smart screen, a semi permanent installation in my Jaguar XK8. I want the best possible mounting position, but want avoid any risk of damage to the car. So In this video Im prototyping a mount made specifically for the X100.
This screen will in a single mod, update the sat nav, audio, and hands free calling. It will also add Internet Radio, Dash cam, a reversing camera and voice activation to my 27 year old V8 GT. ( As long as my smart phone is in my pocket.
If you are interested in the screen. I made a review video about it linked below, and I have some links that offer huge discounts.
If you are interested in this or any of the other Carpuride products. I have arranged for subscribers to my channel to get the VERY lowest prices possible. Just use this link to get to Carpuride's site and see the discounted prices.

Hi David Ball. I wasnt quick enough typing to answer your live chat question. But here is my answer.
No its smooth inside the bottom lip. But if you had stiff wire hooks that went back far enough 'about 80 mm'? (pure guess) you could grab the back edge of the vent if you know what i mean

I have been contemplating the same issue re. mounting without obstructing the windshield. Thankyou John,

I installed a similar, almost identical radio adapter to my XK8 but I prefer the windshield suction bracket. Before installing the radio adapter, I had a gps device hanging in the same spot along with a dash cam device. So I am used to the windshield hanging. I have four semi classic cars and have them all set up the same way. I like the Jags dashboard without anything hanging over and obscuring the vents. I am a member of Jag groups on Facebook and I will share your video with them.

I do John thank you and I shall spend a happy day tomorrow investigating. I don’t need a camera is I’ve already got a dash cam.

How about small rivnuts in your bracket, this would then make it easily removable and you could add a spreader plate on the top for added strength and rigidity.

Hi Graham. I did consider them, but all the ones I have would give too much of a projection on the other side of the bracket. If I ended up using Steel I would have just tack welded on a couple of thin nuts. As you will see in the next episode i ended up going for aluminium for various reasons. (I supose i could have Araldited some on though!

I had previously installed a GARMIN . However, it is small and also a bit old

Times move on Udo. My problem is I drive lots of newer cars as well as my toys and that brings the older kit into strong contrast. I guess if I only drove old cars I wouldnt notice or worry about what was missing?

Hi John...that's a good idea. I have the old NAVI in the dashboard. My question is "can I remove the camera from the carpuride?" Then I can install it better.

Hi Udo. I believe they do versions without a forward facing camera.

Measure with calipers, mark with chalk, and cut with an axe. And careful with that axe, Eugene. You pull out 2 cents worth of cardboard while I log into a multi thousand dollar Autodesk Inventor Suite.😂😂🤣🤣
