For €30 I bought a very old belt sander Makita 9924DB...it is in excellent condition and works...just a little dirty, rust etc...I already have all the bearings etc...I will also restore it😃 Good video...keep it up.👍
Nice refurbishing job. I felt bad for you when you broke off the corner when removing the screw that was holding on the plate. But you welded it back drilled and taped it and made it work. All in all, it came out nice. A great color for the sander body would have been a hammer stone silver grey. But it still looks good how you painted it. Thumbs Up!
I was thinking it would look good polished, but then remembered restoring an ELU MHB 90, After fully polishing the case (took ages0 the motor let out the blue smoke, so now it's on a shelf and may get a rewind some day.
Great video and authoritative teardown and rebuild. I restored two of these. One is a Makita and the other branded Wolf (made by Makita). I use one for sanding and one for pulling out vehicles stuck in mud. Joking of course, but they are a beast of a sander. Not sure why yours was bouncing around so much, which it shouldn't. Maybe a belt bump issue?
@@hbrestoration No, I didn't say that. I'm meant that it doesn't matter if a tool is new or old so as long as they do the job. Having said that, its very good that you restored that tool because during a restoration you can find issues that need attention like a worn bearing, or belt drive that slips, or a crack in the housing like the one you found on the sled. Here's another example: my dad had a very old Craftsmen Drill that quit working so my dad got another drill that had a better chuck. So he didn't throw out the old drill. So I restored it and polished it's aluminum casing, and doubled the length of the cord. I replaced the chuck with a newer Jacobs chuck. Next, I sharpened all 100 of his drill bits. So he gave me his other drill, which I used for 10 years until the first cadmium battery drill came out and I got that.
@@robertblahnik7685 I think so too, it's great that you have such a great tool, what's more meaningful is that it's associated with a memory with your father.
Гений. Сперва всадил из гайковер а все что тот мог, потом вместо того чтоб высверлить и аккуратно прогнать резьбу начал молотком выламывать. Это сокрушательство а не реставрация.
I just read the specs on the sander and the thing that really caught my eye was the weight 8 KG's. WOW Some mauls or sledge hammers wern't that heavy. Do you know the year Sir?? Great job and have a nice one. I am only at minute 9 but you always do a fantastic job. Please have a decent Week.
A bit ham handed, but as long as you fix everything you break, great. I would be most interested in the housing. Is it still reliable? This looks like my Porter Cable.

Liked everything you di from the recording, to the restoration to the editing, however, it's what you didn't do that will prevent me from subscribing at this time. You didn't provide any information whatsoever on what steps you were taking once you had deconstructed the sander. I want to be able to follow and you didn't provide that. I'll check back at a later date to see if you've added it. Good luck.
@@hbrestoration Everything is similar in Russia. Old Soviet tools are much heavier and more resistant to damage. I think there weren't many varieties of plastic in those days, so metal alloys were used to make tools and household appliances. It's hard, but reliable.

You could have used a degreaser to prevent the screw from breaking.
