    Great driving lessons and camera angle. Maybe a second camera placed at a different angle. It's my first wrx as well. Been driving an automatic and occasionally drive my brothers stick shift prelude. Your advice on taking care of the car and driving safely are on point and the most important lesson from this video. Keep them coming!

      I have plans for a second camera sometime down the road but honestly it will probably be a while. Funds are tight and the next thing I want to get is an external audio recorder so I can get better audio in the vids.

    I'm looking at a bugeye wrx for around 5 grand. I think that would be a great first car other than the fact that insurance will think I'm driving a Ferrari just because it's the performance model.

    I agree with what you said about maturity. I worked my way up to a WRX. I think that helps you gain a respect for the power. I see some drivers who are just horrendous, and I can't imagine what they'd be like if they drove a performance vehicle. They'd be putting them selves in danger, and more so everyone else on the road. It takes humility though to be honest with yourself and say "Hey this car is sick! I like it and I have the finances for it, but honestly, I'm not ready for it.. yet."

    Keep this camera angle, and good job with the videos. Many viewers out there are first time or beginner manual drivers so watching experienced drivers drive is a good thing and with this angle it'll help. Keep up with the videos about the car!

    A good first car? Lol. The 2015 WRX is my 10th car. I'm 45 years old... I got the limited version and it is the best car I have ever driven, even moreso than the 335xi I had. Could use a little more top end, but the handling and mid range torque is absolutely amazing. Heading to Montana for road trip next weekend.. Needless to say its gonna be fun :)

    Nice video, I love the different perspectives on driving and the insight you provide. I've been driving my dad's 2015 5.0 GT through the last year of high school but since I'm starting college soon I need my own car. I think I want an sti because it's sporty enough and it should get me through winter nicely but I'm conflicted on whether I should get an older 04/05 blobeye or if I should go for something newer like a 2018. I think I'm a responsible enough driver only doing pulls once in a while. Having driven my dad's mustang I'm pretty used to peer pressure of everyone asking me to do burnouts in the parking lot and I think I'm responsible enough to daily an sti. My biggest issue is not the price of the car but more so the maintenance. Both these cars in my area go for about the same amount on marketplace so I'm not worried about that. I really love the older model and would absolutely go for it if not for maintenance issues. Do you think an 04 sti can be a daily driven car without issue? Since I'm starting college I don't have a lot of time or money to be putting into the car if it's going to give me problems regularly which is why I'm considering a newer one. I asked a family member who's in his mid 20's and he's had 2 meaneye sti's over his time as well as an evo 8, s14 and bmw m3, so he's pretty experienced and he said that I could daily an 04 sti as long as I don't take it to redline and find one that's as close to stock as possible. He wouldn't be able to help with maintenance if I buy one as he lives in the US and I live in Canada so I'd be mostly on my own except for my dad who does know a lot about cars. Although my dad is the one who strongly suggests I get a newer car as he doesn't want us to end up working on it all the time and I need to be able to drive it every day. As an owner of an older wrx, what's your opinion? Both the older and newer ones are going for about $15k-$25k although the newer ones range from 50k miles to 100k miles whereas the older ones are 100k to 130+. (I converted from km to miles) Do you think it's worth it for me to get the older one or should I just go for the newer one?

    I want my first car to be a 4banger or maybe a six...I really don't know exactly what I plan on getting...would I put mods in hell yea, My car brands that have always attracted tme to cars was VW because my dad has an 84 rabbit gti and I love that little thing only about 100 some horespower almost 200. about 240 at the crank and 170-200 at the wheels maybe..but it's nice to have a sunday driver haha...But I was looking at Subaru,Honda,Acura,Mitsubishi,Nissan and Mazda...I'm a huge import guy. I love all the brands I listed I couldn't choose one lol, eventually I will need to but I just want something like you said will be fast (I'm not asking for a 5.0 or nothing like that) but something to get you up in running, safe, last and has good parts support both aftermarket and factory. Any suggestions?? HAve been looking at a 05 wrx sti, Evo 8,Acura integra and Nissan 240sx...I really can't choose I would have to pull a name of the bucket lol..

    • @brentd86
      @brentd86  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I recommend you see what of those are available to you in your price range and area. Don't forget to get insurance quotes before you buy. Older cars try to find one with service records and preferably one that hasn't been heavily modded in the past, you don't want to buy a car that has been pushed right up to the breaking point and have things start failing shortly after you buy it. Also do you live in an area where it snows? If you do I strongly recommend fwd or awd, even with snow tires a rwd will not be fun for someone with their first car in winter.

    • @TheRcworld101

      Well I live in Maryland and it always snows hard when we got a big storm that's mainly why I have been looking at a subaru,Evo or maybe a Civic si...but I really love evo's and subaru...I follow rally and love all time 4wd! :D

      They can be good options and by looking at older models it may make your insurance affordable as well. Rates can be pretty rough until you hit 25.

    If your driving and theres a red light, couldn't you just pop it in to neutral and than brake, and than when you get to a stop shift into 1st gear? or will that hurt the clutch

    • @brentd86
      @brentd86  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Coasting in neutral and using your breaks to stop is ok, you will wear through breaks quicker this way than down shifting and letting the engine help slow you down. I recommend letting off the clutch pedal as soon as you have it in neutral to save the throw out bearing as it is always spinning while the pedal is depressed. I only downshift as far as second gear when slowing down as 1st is just geared too low to be practical for it. I usually downshift through second then step on the clutch and break to come to a complete stop, then put it in neutral and let off the clutch. I put it back into first when it's time to start moving again.

    • @Shishizurui
      @Shishizurui 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like to come up to a stop sign at 25-35 i'll be in like 3rd i just press in the clutch stop, and then shift to 1 and stay stopped. I was always told sitting at neutral at an intersection can get you thrown into the intersection if your hit in the ass.

    See I’m 18 and looking for a good first car of my own. I’m not one to drive real fast, I don’t usually go 5 over, in fact, I usually go the speed limit. I also learned how to drive on a car with a good amount of HP(305hp) so I already know what it’s like to drive a somewhat powerful car. I’m a super defensive driver so I think I’m alright, def not a Subbie bro.

      I actually wouldn’t mind having a Subbie as my first car. I’ll have to learn manual but hey that’s a skill I’m def willing to learn. I’ve handled ok power most commonly being in the 290’s. And I would say I am pretty defensive matter of fact I recently avoided a crash. Stupid driver didn’t look before pulling into the road and I had enough distance to stop right before I hit him/her so yea.

      @JakesWhips 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      H1ZM yes definitely! the car is so much fun. when you're in boost it has a lot of get up and go. plus it sounds amazing because all subaru do. also it has a lot of room compared to other sports cars and it's pretty easy to drive. honestly it's your decision but I would stay away from bmws just because of you break a part they are so expensive to work on whereas my subie isn't too bad. also they miata has no where near the get up and go of the wrx. and don't be intimidated by the wrx or getting one with some mods because the when intest drive mine I was 16 and it has an aftermarket clutch and 300 awhp. but it such a great, we'll rounded car. and I couldn't be any happier
