Hey Mike! So we took your advice and we purchased a used 2013 sti hatch (don't see many of those around for sale anymore). This car is amazing and super addicting to drive. For people deciding if it's a good car for a first car, buy it if you can afford it. Do not listen to others saying that you'll crash because young people have no maturity or respect for speed; although it is true. Just drive safely and know your limits.
Exactly this is what people just don't get, it depends on the type of driver you are. The parents should know what their kids are like by now, and whether or not the wrx is a good fit. If the teen has learned to respect this car it could be a great daily driver, and a fun one at that. The teen just has to know their own limits, and myself as a 17 year old being around moderately fast vehicles my whole life, I can't say that I would be too scared to drive this car, and I can't say I would be comfortable pushing it to its limits either. I have to say I respect the hell out of this car. This is just another scenario where it's enough at least for me to know that my car has what it takes should the opportunity arise (like a track or an event), I wouldn't even dream of pushing this car on roads where it's other peoples lives on the line and not just my own. I am sorry that this was kinda rant-y frankly, I think that this car would make a great starter car, I mean the 2018 wrx won the IIHS top safety pick plus award so I trust it with my life and so do my parents. I will soon own hopefully a 2008 wrx which being so close to an impreza wasn't tested but the impreza won the iihs top safety pick for that year. www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/subaru/wrx-4-door-sedan/2018 www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/subaru/impreza-4-door-sedan/2008
It's so hard to resist the turbo its almost like you feel bad about the gas but then once the sudden rush hits you get a nice smile across your face. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Just bought my first 2005 Subaru WRX and love everything about it. I have owned a Toyota Supra, Mitsubishi 3000GT, and almost had my hands on a Acura NSX. For some reason the Impreza has always been a car I thought of owning mainly b/c I grew up playing Gran Turismo. I like the fact that i can fit an infant seat in as well as 2 booster seats. My girls call it their shiny car they like the turbo especially. Mike love the videos so keep doing what you do.
thanks for they reply's. i "sadly" drive a manual scion tc right now. i bought it because i wanted a new car at a reasonable price. i was going to get a different car but they were wanting to much on interest. scion gave me the best deal. i want a 4 door vehicle for sure. Subaru seems to have the best of what i want in a vehicle. (awd, power, handling) my friend let me test drive his 07 wrx hatch a bit ago. i fell in love with how well it handled. i was also surprised on how hard it accelerated.
hey man this is the perfect video for me i have gone through different phases where I wanted different cars Civic Si, Cobalt SS. But this was the first car my parents really like it because of its safety they are going to help me buy a new one this summer. Thanks
in the uk, getting a Subaru for a first car is unthinkable! Insurance will probably be over £6000 for a young person. You'd have to VERY wealthy to get that hahaha, soooo expensive :(
***** that's horrible sorry to hear that. i have like 1 speeding ticket and my insurance for my mazdaspeed3 is only $150.00 month. i think that's like £120.00 you're country.
Here in America subarus have low insurance unless you get a wrx or brz. Subaru outbacks and legacys are popular first cars because they are safe and reliable.
nahhhh for a 1.5 hatchback should be like 2.5k - 3k minimum for insurance and if u put parents as main drivers its not like ur guna get pulled over daily
While many people complain about the cost of major services, the 12,500km intervals are kinda friendly on the hip pocket. The 8 services till 100K isn't as bad as I thought when compared to the services up tip 100K in my wife's Toyota (10 services). The small premium is worth it in my eyes.
We are looking at a 2015 Subaru WRX sti. We found one for 22,000. Subaru is pretty safe and that’s important. My parents said they would help pay for a car above 2014.
Absolutely! Everyone is different but me owning a 2007 wrx in high school gave me a sense of responsibility in the way I drove around. Of course... when no one was looking I would... ...
I am still young and i now have a 2014 Subaru wrx as my second car i think it is much better that way, when i was first driving i was an idiot sometimes, and im glad i had a big slow truck at the time to keep me safe and in control. I think learning on a larger car makes anything else you drive seem easy. just my opinion but i still worry myself driving such a fast car every day i dont even want to know how reckless i would have been if a wrx was my first car...danger aside of course a wrx is a great car, i would just say having it as second car would likely be the better option
Hi im turning 17 in a few months and i love the wrx/sti. Im getting one used but im trying to decide between the wrx and the sti. I am not the type of kid to go over the speed limit but i do enjoy to floor it from 20-40(speed limit on my road). I know that tons of people get into accidents in this car but i dont speed and i would enjoy the offroad capabilities. The only reason im stuck is because i will definitely miss that 6th gear in the wrx and it seems like more bang for your buck.
um... hello, welcome to my channel. first, i made a video about my shift knob. its my shift knob from my camaro, the same knob has been with me for many many years. so i adapted it to my current car. im not trying to show off, i just enjoy my shift knob that has followed me throughout the years.
You also should have touched on the fact that it's awd! Very important for safety and weather conditions. I live in WA and see so many Subaru's. A ton of wrx's and sti's. Much safer than any comparable-power level rwd sports car. Another thing to consider, some teenagers simply cannot handle the power of an sti so it's all up to the driver to decide if he can handle it or not. I'm 19 and have an 07. Never been in any accidents and no tickets. Some teenagers wreck them or just aren't responsible.
I currently drive a 2011 Toyota corolla 5spd and I am planning on getting a 2013 wrx next summer, hopefully it will be a great second car as I finnally want a performance car. Great info
and to answer your comment, if you're lucky to get the car from a parent or save up long enough then its good. i worked part time as a high school kid and i was able to pay for insurance and gas along with maintenance for my camaro. responsibly comes into play when you want toys.
You should talk about the maintenance and how difficult it might be to work on the car because it is a flat 4 engine. For example, a simple tune up on an Evo wouldn't be to hard to do, but since the WRX had a flat4, doing a tune up involves a lot more work.
Some funny comments here, I got my 09 WRX when I was 16, almost 20 now, and haven't gotten a speeding ticket yet and my car's still running as good as it did the first day I got it. As long you're responsible I don't see what the issue is.
Very true guys.. Im a believer in the Hondas as great for car. If I was in high school id totally get a Civic Si their so inexpensive now and still fun as hell
My first car was a '93 land rover disco tdi and that had a total of about 100hp and when I hear that first car owners are getting things like this with almost double that power and half the weight in makes you wonder, sometimes young guys like more hp then sense and it's then you have to consider what it's like sharing a road with them.
I wouldn't suggest it for a first car just because it has a bit of power, and most kids need to mature a bit first. Plus turbos take some care that most first time drivers just won't understand or care about. It's a ton of fun to drive, and looks awesome, but there's no way that my kid would get one as a first car.
Hey Mike, I'm not hating but im gonna have to disagree completely on this video. A first car should almost never be a good car, especially a WRX/STI. When a person gets his/her first car, they are still completely inexperienced (Maybe they had some lessons with their permit, IDK). A first car should be something that will get you from point a to b, but at the same time it should be a car you really don't care too much about. With your first car you will make mistakes, curb your wheels, grind your gears and burn your clutch, and in worst case scenario, crash. That's why it's safe to get a beater as a first car, to get the optimism you require on the road. Then you upgrade. Also it's not smart to have a powerful car as a first car as well, you will be tempted to speed more since it's a first car and a new feeling. My first car was an 02 Celica. Burnt the clutch a lot on hills and curbed the rims once. But that's cause I'm in a State with lots of hills, Cali is more flat. Within 2 years of upgrading i now own an Evo 8. I still sometimes burn my clutch on steep hills, very rarely though.
I agree with you too. But I was referring to a matured young man. Of course yes, it's probably not the smartest idea of the individual isn't mature to control himself.
SmurfinWRX Ah I see. But sadly not many teens are able to control themselves. 16, 17 and maybe even some 18 year old teens have the tendency to speed irresponsibly and cut people off in any car, it doesn't even have to be fast. But great video none the less, i wish there was some kind of TH-camr that made similar videos for the Evo VIII/IX. I will be doing a complete DIY rebuild of my Evo soon, It has rust spots and engine bay is not as clean as it used to be, will be doing a full engine rebuild as well, while modding it slightly but tastefully. Thinking of recording the project. But yeah man keep up the great work!
SmurfinWRX Thank you for clarifying for "mature man".. Everytime I search "best first car", people are always talking about teens. I guess somehow, people forget not only teens can own a first car? I'm in my late 20s and searching for a first car for myself.
+Paul Walker I have to disagree...in my country you don't really afford your own car when you get your drivers license at 18 so we usually drive our parents car for some time...i've been having my license for almost 4 years and i've been driving a lot and i don't own a car yet but i would like to buy a WRX STI:) also when you're learning to drive or you just got your license it's usually better to have a better car because that means that it's got more protective stuff...although i'll have to agree that maybe the WRX STI model is a stretch because it's powerful but it does have AWD so it can handle that power...so i'm leaning more towards agreeing to this video...Awesome video by the way!!!:)
My first car is a mustang but I also raced Hondas and started racing cars called Thunder Roadsters I've never been in an accident and I dont have shitty driving habbits. it all depends on the driver theres nothing wrong with young kids having sick cars if theyre careful
i love the STI and i love my gc8 subi but i have to disagree about it being a first car about a month ago some wealthy parents gave their 17 year old son named Joeseph Beer a 2012 STI sedan, and he only had a learners permit he took his friends on a joyride on the highway and was doing 110 mph lost control on a curve and killed all 4 passengers, but the 17 year old lived. this accident actually made it to the news in NY. My dad would never let me buy i car i couldnt handle and i thank him 4 it.
my friend wrapped his evo around a tree when he was 17. then he got insurance money and got an evo 8 lol. hasn't crashed that yet though so. personally im 18 and i've gone thru 4 cars already. 3 totaled, 1 broke down. (2 of the totaled's weren't my fault though) already lost my license earlier this year but got it back. money aside, a subbie would be a fine first car, as long as you have respect for the roads, your car, and your ability.
Talking about vacuums and space. I use to work at target and I drove my brother in laws S2000 to work for that one day and I purchased a Dyson Vacuum and it didn't even fit the trunk so I had no choice but to out it in the passengers side and it was super tight. haha.
Im actually looking for my first car (nearly 17 years old) and I have been looking for a clean 04-07 WRX. Boxster I4 turbo + Legendary Subie AWD = Great car
Me too! Im looking for a Hawkeye Facelift 07, good thing is, where I live, theres only 1 STi in town, and thats the one im going to buy, plus, its the s204 version, the limited edition WRX STi, they only made 600 of them so having one of those makes me feel like I have a very rare car thats different from anybody elses, and I think of staying with it until the end of times, just thinking about it makes me happy ´D
this is probably the smartest thing i have ever seen on a youtube comment section. subaru makes a wonderful car, and the AWD is a huge selling point. keep in mind the base model mitsu lancer is only FWD. insurance wont be too bad on a base impreza, and even the STI insurance isnt bad compared to BMW. a 2008-20111 impreza hatch is the car i want for my first vehicle, excellent on gas, AWD, and i cant afford the wrx. good luck man!
I'm 17 and I really wanted a wrx. Called up the insurance company and for a 2004 WRX they wanted to charge me 375 a month...if your parents are willing to pay for everything, get a newer model. (older models are cheaper) If you work, and are helping them out with it, get an older year. I'm not going to tell you not to get a WRX, but look around to see if there are other sporty cars that fit your liking because WRX/WRX STI are THE MOST expensive cars to insure for us male teens.
thank you for our comment, im going to respectfully disagree with you. i personally have been driving fun cars since i was 15. first car was a camaro and i was not irresponsible. yes there are some out there that do stupid things. but that shouldnt push us responsible people away from having a fun car. pretty much all of my friends had fun cars, and we are all alive
I totally agree with everyone here. Although there are people who know how to drive and are smart enough to know if they can afford it. Moral of the story is , if you dont have any experience with "faster" cars, then it wouldnt be smart, especially because taking care of it is key.
actually my friend had an 2011 WRX, when 2013 came around he traded it in, got a lot of equity so kept his payments low (430$) so in general, its a stretch but definitely possible. (im 19, and have a 2013 WRX)
You make a valid point there are very responsible young ppl but the bad outway the good. Even if its 51%-49%. Im not saying a first car shouldnt be a new great car just saying it shouldnt be a 300 hp/performance car. I say we agree to disagree. To each parent and child their own. Love the vids
I don't think a WRX or an STI would be suitable as a first car, rather something like a 2.0R (What we got here in South Africa) non turbo would be better in terms of insurance and other costs.
For a nice way around pricey insurance rates rates on wrx/stis go with a forester xt! they care next to nothing bc its an suv but it has the same power train as the wrx and it can be modified pretty much the same way as the wrx
hate to tell u buddy but thats the way it should be i split the cost of my first car with my dad, all 1200 of it, it was a beat to crap 1500 standard cab v6 chevy work truck the basic of the basic. i worked on that truck so much it hurt but i thank that truck everday. now that i hve my wrx i can really appreicate it and if something breaks i can fix it getting ur kid a nice car right off the bat is a terrable idea but im not a parent so all i can do is tell you my experience as a son.
Thaks, you realy helping me, i want a subaru and i'm getting my licence in Lets say from now to next year and a subaru is my dreamcar and you realy gave me some tips now, realy amazing video's do you have on your Channel btw
Watched a few of your videos on the WRX, came here with a question. Recently test drove a WRX and found the high engagement point threw me off a bit. How much of an issue is that with the WRX? Compared to the VW I've been driving with a much lower engagement, it was a little rough at first but adaptable. Great car by the way, was fun as hell to test out.
I'm talking about a brand new WRX. Which I thought he was telling 16 year olds to buy. Insurance is a shit ton here for any WRX due to high crash rate, you must live in the middle of nowhere to pay only 60 a month.
I would say WRX is not for inexperienced drivers especially for teenagers. First, it will cost you arms and legs for insurance and I can assure you that insurance companies will kick your ass with their quotes. Second, inexperienced driving of performance car can easily lead to reckless driving......just like many teens who drive wrx around my town. Third, reckless driving also means putting lot of pressures on turbo engine and clutch day and night which reduces the life of the car. So pretty please, go drive used Camry first.
young kids having wrxs is why my insurence is insane....WRX is a good car for an experienced driver, the AWD tends to make people over confident, which ends in them killing themselves. i woulndt buy a wrx for my kid, an impreza yes, but too much power in the wrx and sti
It all depends, If you join the union at a young age like what i'm doing, You can make 25-40 bucks an hour with health insurance ect... included. you could own a new sti and lots more with that kind of money.
I'd have disagree on one condition. If its your first car that's fine IF you are paying for it. When mom and dad do you take it for granted and don't understand and lack the respect and car like this needs. Just recently a teenager was giving an sti and wrapped it around a pole with buddies in the car showing off his 6spd 305 HP beast. That's what a 18 yr is gonna do without question
Car insurance must be cheap in the states for first time drivers if you think someone can get a wrx for a first car. I got quoted 18 thousand pound for a MG Zr first car so there is no way i can even think about that car.
Personally I would never recommend a WRX as a first car first insurance would be murder. If they want a fun sporty first car go with a civic si. They may not be nearly as powerful but it's a good stepping stone towards a WRX they are fun to drive, good on gas, come in stick, but much better on insurance. Besides a 16-17 year old behind the wheel with one of these things is just asking for trouble.
get a non turbo impreza for the first 3 years, then import a used STi performance engine from Japan and swap the engine. you can find really good engines for cheap in Japan. People do this a lot.
Hey Mike.. I was thinking about buying an cert. used sti but here's the problem. I really dont have much experience with driving a stick shift car. Right now I have a rwd 08 lexus gs so Im not new to driving at all. Lol... well heres another issue. I did my research on the wrx/sti and I see alot of people having problems with the ringland failure (thats whats holding me back from purchasing this car) and I dont want to spend 3-5k to repair the engine especially if it happens again. How can I avoid the ringland failure? Do you recommend me or anyone to purchase an wrx/sti for there 1st manual car?
First manual shouldn't be a problem. You have to learn some how and a manual. I learned on a 350 HP muscle car so a subaru isn't a problem. As for the ring land failure. I wouldn't worry too much if you're not a heavy foot driver. Every car has its problems and it's always a risk buying used. It's a hard decision. Someone what a gamble to be honest but I personally would buy used because you save a lot
SmurfinWRX Not a good advide because first if you are not a heavy foot driver don't buy an sti, it's pointless. and if you are a heavy foot driver know before hand that your average speed gonna go up because an sti is a really special car(tickets, gas milage) risking of high speed loosing your license tickets)Not me i got a beltronics sti driver radar detector) . 3rd if you are a haevy foot driver an buying an sti.......... and if you tune it.......... be ready to a motor rebuild anytime in a near or not future in your budget!
As far as buying a first car, I plan on a WRX, but I don't want to walk in to the dealership looking like a dumbass. I plan on trading my truck in and expect to get the low side of a trade, around 5000$ and is that towards the downpayment/taxes etc. Should I try and save up additional money for a downpayment? What was your experience like?
Lol yea you can get them around 20K but they're the older models and also depends on mileage. From my point of view they're still very expensive for an old car. Lol. I feel very poor myself driving a civic for now. Lol. That student life. Lol.
thanks man! i do agree with you. for a starter, a different car would be great. but to grow into, a wrx/sti would work. but that comes down to preference. either way, its all life style. =]
I am speaking for the majority of the population. Most people cannot drive very well and a lot of teenagers do not think before they do something, there are people that do though.
Hey Mike, I've been blessed enough to get a 2009 Toyota Camry with under 70K miles on it from my grandfather, and while I appreciate this, as a 17 year old I can't help but look at other options and other cars I could get from either trading it in or selling it altogether. I was looking at the purchase of a 2004 G35 with about 90K miles on it. I'll be paying for my own insurance (everything) gas, ect. I just wanted to get your opinion on this. Looking for some advice. Thanks.
Well if you read verrrry closely the question is regarding an STI not a wrx so i think you may be confused... plus if monthly insurance cost is a factor, (which it is for most young people) getting insured (above state minimum requirements) on an sti will be around 300$ a month.. not a good first car sorry kid.. it is my favorite car so far but no 16 year old should have one dude, think for a moment.
Why are Subies so cheap i the US? In Poland the STI goes like $65000. It's bacause it's 2.5l and we have a annoying tax which grows when the car's engine is bigger than 2l... I'm so jealous...
im just curious. about how many miles do you get out of a full tank of gas. either hwy only or mixed driving. i am considering buying one by january but i cant find any solid info on what i have asked. your videos seem to be very informative and i have enjoyed them so i thought i would ask you...
I’m 16 and working right now and my parents offered to pay for the other half of the car we’re about to finance . I’m financing for half . Do I go for 2016-2017 wrx or 2016 sti?
Especially for a 16 year old child. IF you are a parent you should definitely buy one as a first car for your kid that is still in high school hahaha. A good fact of life is that no kid in high school is responsible enough to own anything above a base model Impreza. Not trying to be brash, just being honest here.
Well, I just figured out I might be able to afford one of these when I'm 16 because the value might depreciate a little. Should I get an 06-07 or an 08-09? I personally think the 08-09 looks newer but a lot of people say they like the looks of the older one more. Also the 06-07 cost less.
xObeyGuz I would be surprised to see one of these in a good state for that price where I live. I live in switzerland and even some of the used ones cost sometimes even 30k franks which is equal to around 30k dollars. Everything here is just ridiculously expensive to the point where importing a car wpuld probably get you one for around half of the price...
People in the comments: You realize not every teenager is a reckless driver which wants to go 150mph on the highway any chance they get
Mr_RaVe exactly
Coming from a Teenage boy, honestly I know more girls who speed and drive faster than most guys lol 😂
^^
Subaru Tecnica international I'm 16 and I only go the speed limit or 5 over. I just floor it to get up to the speed limit.

yea true. depends on the person. i was very responsible with my camaro at 16. i had some fun but never dangerous

How is a 16 year old supposed to afford this???????
mommy and daddy
Or get a older one. There is some you may be able to find that are 10g or even under that. If you can't afford that, then get a damn job.
I am 17 and my dad bought me an AWD 300hp 2006 subaru wrz sti impreza and i am not ashamed.

um... hello, welcome to my channel. first, i made a video about my shift knob. its my shift knob from my camaro, the same knob has been with me for many many years. so i adapted it to my current car. im not trying to show off, i just enjoy my shift knob that has followed me throughout the years.
That actually depends on you. I'm biased toward the hatch because well, I have one but I could see people liking the sedan shape even more.
I agree. Some are crazy drivers
I use to work at target and I drove my brother in laws S2000 to work for that one day and I purchased a Dyson Vacuum and it didn't even fit the trunk so I had no choice but to out it in the passengers side and it was super tight. haha.
base goes for like 25,500 but then you have to add tax and licensing. If you get a limited or premium the price is higher (closer to 30k).
Im actually looking for my first car (nearly 17 years old) and I have been looking for a clean 04-07 WRX. Boxster I4 turbo + Legendary Subie AWD = Great car
Boxer flat 4*
You forgot to mention its AWD and safe in almost any road condition: rain, snow, gravel etc.
this is probably the smartest thing i have ever seen on a youtube comment section. subaru makes a wonderful car, and the AWD is a huge selling point. keep in mind the base model mitsu lancer is only FWD. insurance wont be too bad on a base impreza, and even the STI insurance isnt bad compared to BMW. a 2008-20111 impreza hatch is the car i want for my first vehicle, excellent on gas, AWD, and i cant afford the wrx. good luck man!
thank you thank you. its a fun car. you wont regret it
I'm 17 and I really wanted a wrx.
I have a 2012 WRX hatch and I get about 300-320 miles of mixed driving. DISCLAIMER: This was the first stick shift I have ever owned.
actually my friend had an 2011 WRX, when 2013 came around he traded it in, got a lot of equity so kept his payments low (430$) so in general, its a stretch but definitely possible.
I would love one of these for a first car! I am gonna get a CVPI tho. Nice video
thanks man! i get 300-320 out of the tank. i average about 21-23 mpg.
Going to try as hard as possible to get my hands on a 2005 WRX STI for my first car. Wish me luck:)
all new cars in my country are really expensive so a new STi cost around 75k EUR or 100k USD
hate to tell u buddy but thats the way it should be i split the cost of my first car with my dad, all 1200 of it, it was a beat to crap 1500 standard cab v6 chevy work truck the basic of the basic. i worked on that truck so much it hurt but i thank that truck everday. now that i hve my wrx i can really appreicate it and if something breaks i can fix it getting ur kid a nice car right off the bat is a terrable idea but im not a parent so all i can do is tell you my experience as a son.
Thaks, you realy helping me, i want a subaru and i'm getting my licence in Lets say from now to next year and a subaru is my dreamcar and you realy gave me some tips now, realy amazing video's do you have on your Channel btw
best WRX is the gb270 year 2007 to 2008 this was the last edition of impreza for the uk and im ,loving it
well 30k is to much but is the 2004 cheaper because i have around 11-12k budget for a car and i want a sti badly
Ive seen some 04s and 06s worth around 16k in good condition, you just gotta look anywhere you can man good luck on finding them...
There is some I actually have seen going for 10g or lower. Atleast here in canada ontario.
Insurance is a shit ton here for any WRX due to high crash rate, you must live in the middle of nowhere to pay only 60 a month.
i know the insurance will be alot but the remaining budget can cover that aswell as the tax and fuel! :) what do you think??
Im 17 and I cant decide between a impreza RS 2.5 or a WRX? I really want a Wrx but imprezas are cheaper, what should i do?
I would say WRX is not for inexperienced drivers especially for teenagers. First, it will cost you arms and legs for insurance and I can assure you that insurance companies will kick your ass with their quotes. Second, inexperienced driving of performance car can easily lead to reckless driving......just like many teens who drive wrx around my town. Third, reckless driving also means putting lot of pressures on turbo engine and clutch day and night which reduces the life of the car. So pretty please, go drive used Camry first.
young kids having wrxs is why my insurence is insane....WRX is a good car for an experienced driver, the AWD tends to make people over confident, which ends in them killing themselves. i woulndt buy a wrx for my kid, an impreza yes, but too much power in the wrx and sti
what about even older? like 1999, I feel like anything newer would be out of reach for a good amount of time.
Hey mike I really enjoy your videos! saw the videos about your bov's but I was wondering what setup you were running in this video? It sounds great
It all depends, If you join the union at a young age like what i'm doing, You can make 25-40 bucks an hour with health insurance ect... included. you could own a new sti and lots more with that kind of money.
Or saving up money...My friend just bought a brand new EVO from saving since high school. Same with me i saved up since i was a kid.
I dont know about that just like Smurfinwrx said to each its own, I like the sedan more the hatch is smaller.
yeah so sedan or hatch it doesnt matter because its a sports car like you said all the same.
I have a 2010 Evo MR for my first car. Also my dream car. and no, my parents aren't rich nor did they pay for it. I payed for it in full.
i like the sedan, but thats personal preference. i also made a video on it.
Turbocharged cars are illegal for first cars in Australia :( [first 3 years of holding a licence].
Your so lucky in America!
get a non turbo impreza for the first 3 years, then import a used STi performance engine from Japan and swap the engine. you can find really good engines for cheap in Japan. People do this a lot.
Great channel. I love this car. Now I need to get some money and get one.
This is good advice for kids who are looking for a new car
a lancer ralliart is good because you insure it as a regular Lancer, but you may not want that
Another reason to buy a subaru is their top notch all wheel drive system.
I really want a STI but here in Canada its near 50K for a new one and even used they are expensive af. :(
Lol yea you can get them around 20K but they're the older models and also depends on mileage.
From my point of view they're still very expensive for an old car. Lol. I feel very poor myself driving a civic for now. Lol. That student life. Lol.
I got a 2011 wrx for my first car. a swp hatch. my dad got the loan but I make the payments awesome car
thanks man! i do agree with you. for a starter, a different car would be great. but to grow into, a wrx/sti would work. but that comes down to preference. either way, its all life style. =]
i had a few add ons on the car. after taxes and all (california) it gets up there quick.
maybe in a wagon/hatch back, but you can always buy a roof rack.
Wow that's crazy. I would hate to imagine what my 5.0 mustang would go for over there.
I am speaking for the majority of the population. Most people cannot drive very well and a lot of teenagers do not think before they do something, there are people that do though.
thanks man. cobb intake and stage 1 cobb ap tune. thats it =]
I wouldn't mind having one as a first car i would also save up and get a job
Hey Mike, I've been blessed enough to get a 2009 Toyota Camry with under 70K miles on it from my grandfather, and while I appreciate this, as a 17 year old I can't help but look at other options and other cars I could get from either trading it in or selling it altogether. I was looking at the purchase of a 2004 G35 with about 90K miles on it. I'll be paying for my own insurance (everything) gas, ect. I just wanted to get your opinion on this. Looking for some advice. Thanks.
What's your opinion on the 2015 wrx and the Sti I'm debating on which do to the engine n all
Well if you read verrrry closely the question is regarding an STI not a wrx so i think you may be confused... plus if monthly insurance cost is a factor, (which it is for most young people) getting insured (above state minimum requirements) on an sti will be around 300$ a month.. not a good first car sorry kid.. it is my favorite car so far but no 16 year old should have one dude, think for a moment.
Why are Subies so cheap i the US? In Poland the STI goes like $65000. It's bacause it's 2.5l and we have a annoying tax which grows when the car's engine is bigger than 2l... I'm so jealous...
I wouldn't say ugly, but I prefer the look of the hatch aswell.
im just curious. about how many miles do you get out of a full tank of gas. either hwy only or mixed driving. i am considering buying one by january but i cant find any solid info on what i have asked. your videos seem to be very informative and i have enjoyed them so i thought i would ask you...
He drives a WRX, that knob on his car is actually from his old camaro.
Even the early 2002 2003 versions still go for $23000, which is a rip off
Your stupid if you think they go for that much
Where are you looking? I'm living in the world's most isolated state capital and they start at 9k AUS hah
If you search the 06-07 under 40k miles they go for 25k plus. The value of Subaru holds true. #1 Kelly blue book value.
xObeyGuz I would be surprised to see one of these in a good state for that price where I live. I live in switzerland and even some of the used ones cost sometimes even 30k franks which is equal to around 30k dollars. Everything here is just ridiculously expensive to the point where importing a car wpuld probably get you one for around half of the price...
did you get your first car when you got your learners permit or did you wait until you got your provisional?
So if you're over 21 insurance shouldn't be that bad right? I live up in the Bay Area and I have Allstate. Thanks!
