    Hi Rick! Iv'e been subscribed to your channel for several months now. I'm pretty sure I was actually one of your 1st few hundred subscribers. I absolutly love your content, and I'm very excited for you and proud of you for the amount of success you've had on TH-cam in a relatively short amount of time. I know it's a lot of work and "we" viewers can be a tough audience to please haha. I can tell that you're genuinely passionate, and you love what you're doing. Just want to say thank you for sharing with us your knowledge and all of your trial & error learning experiences. You always inspire me and another thing I like about you is kinda hard to explain...but you have an "Old Skool no BS" way about you! I gain a lot from watching your channel and I always learn something new. I truly value and appreciate what you're doing and I hope to see your channel continue to grow and grow! Cheers buddy,

I do have a question about this review. What is the silver button on the top right near the front. Is it nothing and thats why you didnt mention it. Please let me know. Keep those videos coming. Now to find a video explaining how to use the Litchie app.

    How come the reviews suck on Amazon??

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the post and if you check them closely you'll see that the complaints on most of the reviews are about the "action" button on the headset. I didn't discuss it in the clip because it's essentially useless and not something I use. It's not needed for FPV flying and if you're playing games you'll be using a Bluetooth controller with the goggles so I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish with the button. Either way, these goggles are amazing and like I said in the clip, hands-down my favorite VT headset. I hope that helps and thanks again for stopping by. Rick

      Drone Valley thanks for the reply, I had Noon VR goggles before and I was really not happy with them at all, felt like my eyes hurt and made me dizzy, I returned them and I basically decided that all VR sets sucks this much, you either like it or you done. I will have to give it another shot maybe. By the way love how you explain things, great speaker, wish I had half your talent lol

    Just received some Mavic accessories from you, Thanks for shipping them out so quickly. Question: I have an iPod Touch. It's overall dimensions are 124mm x 49mm x 6mm. The image area measures 89mm x 50mm. Would my iPod Touch work in the Homido V2 headset ? I fly my Mavic with my iPod Touch and it works well, just a little small. Bob

    Hi Rick,
    Always enjoy your reviewer. Well thought out and very meticulous. One thing I would like to know is the quality of the picture that you get. As you know a lot of GOGGLES out there at times over magnify the view and it becomes very blurry or pixelated.
    Cheers....Sam

    @RM-ud9tf 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Rick, I just purchased these based on your recommendation. I'm hoping you are still enjoying them and rating them high. Now it should work with my Mavic and Phantom 4 Pro, is that correct? P.S. I need the Lichi app also, correct?

  • @AroundIndiana
    @AroundIndiana 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    the biggest problem I've seen with the less expensive vr goggles is the field of vision being too limited. It's like looking at a square rather than being a wide immersive view. I saw this at Best Buy for $79.99, I may try it.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the post and I agree with you for most of them. One of the things I liked about the Homido set was they had a very wide FOV compared to other on the market (even really expensive ones). They also provide both an IPD adjustment as well as a focal length adjustment. If you do decide to buy them, you can use the link below on Amazon (same price, free delivery) and I'll get a small credit to support the channel. Thanks again for stopping by. Rick

    Hi Rick, thx again for the outstanding reviews that you do. Since I just bought the phantom 4 pro PLUS, is it safe to say that these will not work w/ the plus version since I don't use my cell w/ the built in screen on the controller? I wouldn't be able to install the Litchi app either. Also, the reviews on Amazon are terrible for this guy despite the great quality you expressed during the review. Have you seem the Amazon reviews from Christmas day?

    excellent video as usual. Very interesting in trying this technology with my P3Pro. Found Homido 1 VR on Amazon for 34.5 bucks...vs 110 for Version2. What are your thoughts on that. Worth getting one to try them out...or go for the VR2? Thanks.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carlos, for the price you can't go wrong. The V2 is a lot more comfortable and holds the phone more securely but for that price you can play around with the V1 to see if you enjoy the entire experience. It's a lot of fun but does take some getting used to. Good luck and thanks for stopping by. Rick

    Thank you sir for this great review. Is this the one that you use when flying your drones? Also why is using the Litchi software an advantage? Is the Lichi software necessary - I have heard pros and cons. Thanks!

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the post and yes. it's the one I use with my Mavic. To use these you'll need an application that "splits" the screen for VR viewing and the current DJI Go application doesn't offer this yet. The Litchi app does and is the one I use when flying FPV. I have used for a long time and it works great so don't worry about using it with your DJI products. Thanks and be sure to sub the channel. Rick

    Yes I have a question. You didn't cover what the heck you can do with these things. I have a Mavic. How do you get the image on the goggles for flying it? Can you watch TV or movies? Games? What is the best things to use them for? Thanks
    Update, I see you have another video on the Mavic flying with these. Thanks.

    For anyone who is suspicious of the magnetic latch on this goggle ,don't worry it is so strong that sometimes you would think it is not functioning well because it is so hard to open.

  • @robrow
    @robrow 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Rick, another great video, well done. I have used this particular set of VR goggles with my Mavic and they work great. The issue for me is that you have to use the Litchi app which works great in it's own right but for me the VR mode view is somewhat limited, ideally I would still like to fly FPV but with the normal view I get from my iphone/tablet that has all the usual flight data on the screen.
    I understand it may be some time before the DJI branded goggles are released so is there any other generic non vr goggles you can recommend that will work using my iphone 7 plus?
    Thanks for any answer you can give.
    Rob.

    What i saw that gave me interest was that i can fly my drone that has a camera on it and yet where i live you cannot hardly see the screen if you are outside ! These vr goggles will help me to see what i am looking at thru my camera ! And i can hook my car charger up and keep my phone charged up ! I would also like to invest a little cash into finding a long flight drone that i use for more than 20 minutes each time ! Do you have any suggestions to a decent priced 4 or 6 bladed drone that is a low decent price !

    Can you suggest a set of goggles that have a large 'dial-in' IPD feature, left to right, not just forward and back. My eyesight favours my left eye, to the ratio 80-20%. I have never been able to use FPV because i just see the left image. I was hoping that a large IPD option would be able to merge the 2 images. Thanx Rick. Watching from the UK!

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blu, The Homido goggles I reviewed in this clip have both an IPD (side to side) adjustment as well as Immersion (front to back) adjustment. They don't allow you to adjust each eyepiece individually but very few do. All of us have some variance between our eyes ability to focus and I'm sure with the adjustments available with this headset you can find a compromise that works. Thanks again for the comment and I hope you sub the channel. Rick

    My main concern with this review in regards to drone flying is the software application that will actually split our screens and render a good FPV image for the headset to pick up. I don't see any native software app with this for flying other than the Zeiss Vr-1 with CLOUDLIGHT FPV. It's seamless technology (assuming you're running ios). Otherwise, you have to rely on the litchi app to render your drone FPV, but it requires the latest updates from DJI. Which are always buggy and result in lost drones. ( I refused to update, which is now mandatory, so I still run the older the Pilot App which is relatively bug-free and doesn't limit my flying). The ideal would be an app for both platforms that render a VR split for WHATEVER is playing on the screen, rather than "converted" videos or apps. Soon, I hope.

    Hello drone valley. I really like this headset. When I was looking on amazon and it had really bad reviews. They where saying it broke after like 5 minutes. Is this true?

    I am not sure yet how these things work or what they are used for. I use the screen and VLOS as I take video but I seem to get the idea these goggles replace the IPAD screen and one looks through the goggles to film? Yes? No? How do you judge distance and obstacles like trees if filming?

      So what am I looking at? The iPhone screen? Is it like looking through the view finder of a ground camera? Sony a7r2 e.g.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically you're putting your phone into the front of these and viewing the footage through the goggles. The Litchi app creates the perfect Side-By-Side video you need for the headset. You have to fly with a spotter when flying FPV to help you maintain VLOS with the quad. It takes a little getting used to but is a blast to fly like this. I hope that helps and be sure to sub the channel so you don't miss anything. Rick

      I tried it with that exact phone but it makes me utterly sick. I think it made me sick because the lg stylo 4's latency and screen hertz isn't as good as iphone. Using iPhone was a way better experience. Homido V2 is good tho.

    One other thing. I need a great hard case, or a well made fabric/backpack type case to carry my Mavic and all its accessories as the one that came with the fly more package, just doesn't cut it. What do you recommend? Thank you !!

    Hey Rick, love your videos but I'd like to make a suggestion; if a product is provided to you by a company for review, I think you should state that at the beginning of the video for full disclosure. I don't know that this is the case with this product, but it certainly seems like it. Who knows, maybe you really do love this headset, but seeing as I really trust your suggestions I went online to buy one and was shocked by the poor reviews. On average this headset got about 2.5/5 and most of the complaints were with build quality issues. Obviously not what I expected after your glowing review. Either way, keep up the great work. I always look forward to seeing your new videos pop up in my feed.

      Jason, thanks for the comment and for enjoying the clips I put together. I actually did state this really clearly about 50 seconds into the clip so it was obvious that Homido sent these to me. I don't have a lot of companies sending me things so I wasn't sure if I needed a different disclosure for the clip. I have used them for a while and really do love them. I'm always honest with my reviews and was as clear as I could be about the advantages on these headsets. I saw the reviews on Amazon as well and the product on;y has 7 total reviews, two of which are bad. If you look at what generated those complaints you'll see that they are all related to an "action" button on the top of the headset. You'll notice I didn't discuss this in my review because it's not really used for anything most people care about. The idea behind it was that by hitting the button on the top of the goggles a mechanical finger would pop out and touch the screen of the phone to activate it. The reason I say that most people would never use it is because if you're flying FPV you won't need it and if you're using the headset for games or viewing content you'll be using a Bluetooth remote to control the video. Aside from this, the headset is really top of the line and I can forgive them for adding a feature I'll never use. I hope that helps explain things and I do appreciate the coaching. Even though I've been in Tech for decades, this TH-cam experience is still new to me and I'm learning a little more every day. Thanks again, Rick

      Drone Valley Very much appreciate the reply, Rick. I'm sorry I missed your disclaimer in the video. I'd delete my comment since it's not based on my omission, not yours, but your comment speaks so well to it I think I'll leave it in case anyone else misses the disclaimer as I did. I trust your opinions, so I may just give these a shot after all. Definitely more reasonably priced than the HDMI module + FatSharks for my P4 setup. Thanks again!

      Marcia, thanks for the post but you can use any VR video with the Homido setup. You can search the web and TH-cam to find a lot of content you can play on your phone and use the Goggles to enhance. The Homido app has probably not been updated to include some of the newest phones but I'm sure they'll catch up. Rick

      John, it works great but you have to have an application like Litchi to provide the split-screen video you need for the headset. I did a clip on how to fly FPV with that app a few weeks back and you can find it on my channel. Thanks for the post and be sure to sub the channel. Rick

    Another great video!
    Thanks fro sharing your experience with the goggles!
    One question.......did you compare image quality & fit of these goggles to the newest 2016 Samsung Gear VR goggles? If so, how did they compare? (Yes, I am aware that you would have to modify the input of Samsung Gear VR goggles if you want to attach an exterior cable to them and use them for FPV).
    Thanks!

    Interesting review, but for that price point, I think I would go w eachine vr d2 headset if I want dvr. For a little more, I can get eachine goggles 2 if I want 1080 and hdmi port. I'm gonna wait till they have both features in their next one

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the post but to use the Eachine goggles you'll either need a transmitter or an HDMI signal to drive the display. They work great for a lot of quads but others like the Mavic Pro don't provide either of those two options. I like the Homido's because they can be used with my phone for FPV of any quad as well as movies and games. Thanks for the post and I hope you sub the channel. Rick

      I'm glad I don't have to make the decision soon. But I thought the P4pro+ had hdmi, and it was a simple mod to add to p4 controller? Could have sworn I saw a post on that.
      Wanted to get into fpv freestyle. Starting out w a rise vusion 250. Practice. Get all the kooky things I feel like doing, out of my system, and improving my flying skills.
      Any idea what the dji goggles will go for? Cause if they would work for a phantom 4 pro, as well Mavic, I may just end up going w them.
      This will only be my fourth quad. As I got a parrot ar 2 when they first came out. Then invested in some camera equipment. Had some friends who liked mine, but got the dji original phantom. Another more recently got a P3, but sold it after he kept crashing it (have no idea why,) as I had advised him that it was what I would get.
      Finally I decided to get more into aerial photography, I got the P4 when it came out. Just got the Mavic. Was thinking about upgrading to the P4pro soon, but getting the racer, next week. I'm even thinking, that the wider angle lens may be the way to go, but if I get a decent price, I'll sell it. It has less than 3hrs on it. And I love it. And, the Mavic just made the second flight.
      Will be traveling a bit in a few months, so I'm gonna have a great package when I do.
      I just wanted something I could learn to really fly on, and would be easy to fix when I crash. The only mod it needs right away is an antenna swap for the monitor. (to a clover)
      I want to go more #charpu, savvy?
      And I've already subscribed.
      This is a very informative channel.
      Keep up the good work!

      I have used these and actually own a pair. I like them a lot also and my only complaint was I found them a little heavy on the bridge of my nose and the foam didn't "breathe" as well as the Homido's so they got a little funky after using them a while. They are a decent set for the money though and probably second or third in my ranking of headsets, especially with the newer upgrades. Thanks for the post. Rick

      Mark, thanks for the comment and there's nothing fishy going on. Once these clips are posted, some people may not watch them right away but come across them a year later and the price of items I review can change dramatically in that time. If I mention the price of an item when I make the clip, the price could have dropped substantially by the time you view it and I'd have to add annotations to all the reviews I did to reflect that change. To answer your question more directly, these are currently selling for $70 - $90 depending on where you purchase them and the discount available at the time. I hope that helps and I appreciate your posting and watching. Rick

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The problem that those reviews are reflecting is the "action" button included on the headset. This is a mechanical arm that swings out when you push the metal button on the top of the headset. You'll notice that I didn't cover that in the review because it's not used for FPV flying or viewing content and only for games. Anyone using this for games would have a handheld Bluetooth controller for interacting with the game and wouldn't use the headset action button either. I was puzzeled as to why they even included it and don't find much use for it. I hope that helps and thanks for commenting. Rick

      Drone Valley Thanks for the concise review. I agree about the useless button on the Homido V2. It hasn't worked once on my iPhone 6+. That being said there area lot of apps that require a tap on the screen to function (The Google Cardboard app for instance). And syncing up a Bluetooth controller which is an added expense which many people don't own is inconvenient at best when the included button should work. I think it is fair that the reviews reflect so negatively on the V2.
