Was Yahweh Defeated By Another god?

  • 2 Kings 3 says divine wrath came upon Israel after the king of Moab, Mesha, sacrificed his firstborn son. Many think this is an example of the god Chemosh defeating the God of Israel but is that what the text really says?

@@InspiringPhilosophy No obviously Yahweh wasn't defeated by any other god. I'd love to see ya Inspiring Philosophy going on Joe Rogan's show to silence his ungrounded criticisms of Christianity and theism. AMEN brothers and sisters in Christ our Lord and God bless ya brother Inspiring Philosophy 🙏 😎. I really appreciate your Christ centered and Scripturally accurate content. This has nothing and everything to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a 22 year old Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college student. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't.
I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict.
Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers.
Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years
ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of macro Evolutionary biology whereas I accept micro Evolution such as speciation and adaptation because there's no evidence of macro Evolution nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word.
Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant.

Hey! We're from the same country and same age bracket. That's cool. 😂
The whole Euphrates river drying up being a sign is based on really bad thinking. If we take a look at the chronology in the text, the bowls of Revelation 16 come after the reaping of the earth (which I'll assume is Jesus' "harvest" of the church). That clearly hasn't happened yet so the whole thing falls apart.

Human sacrifices have not ended. It's changed to go with the times we live in. Now they call it women's rights, my body my choice, women's health. But in the end, most women have abortions because they want prosperity, and a child will hold them back. Just like in ancient civilizations, they sacrificed their children for prosperity. Nothing has changed but the times. They still sacrifice their children to the gods.

What this video is about, is where the crossroad in my journey to faith was 5 years ago. I was minutes away from totally sealing the coffin of my faith when I read the moabite stone, the English version of the Bible, and took ancient history classes for my social studies degree. I believe God leaned on my heart for a brief moment to dig into this same passage. I did and came to the same conclusion. I decided to revisit all the other things about the bible that I thought were either debunked or just silent in history. I found IP about 4 months later with his 'Man or Rabbit' video. God raised my faith up from death through this passage. God be blessed

They got big rekt and zonked by the Romans multiple times and Greeks..., dirty pagan Romans and Greeks too not even like Catholic or Ortho or Crusader lol pagan, those pagans with their weird Gods literally not only destroyed the place of the biblical God and turned it into a trash pit, they enslaved and sent in chains the most prolific elites temple priests etc total destruction and subjugation and they also enacted their own rites and weird pagan traditions to their Gods, like The Suovetaurilia literally was done by Trajan on the holy of holies, some Greek king also did offerings their after taking it.... sacrificing to their Pagan Gods for centuries(two and half centuries under Greek occupation, like 5.5 centuries for Roman)... like are we seriously saying this is the most undefeatable God? This is not mentioned or even hinted in the passage. Also, given the context of the passage the sacrifice cannot be for atonement. Even if we accept that sacrificing one's child for atonement was not uncommon in the ANE, it is also not uncommon to offer child sacrifice in the context of war or imminent defeat.

Both Malachi 3:6 and Hebrews 13:8 declare that God is the same always and never ever changes. He is always good, always loving, always all-powerful. No matter how this world changes around us, we can trust God is consistent. He is the same yesterday, today, and Forever!
Yhwh and Jesus are polar opposites.
But even Christians are absolutely convinced they're one and the same.
Yhwh is a physical being on Earth.
Yhwh is not the Father Jesus spoke to us about.
If you're going to say Yhwh is God, then you're left with a mountain of contradictions. Yhwh and Jesus are polar opposites!
      Exodus 15:3
“The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.”
      REVELATION 12:9
      KJ21
And the great dragon was cast out - that serpent of old called the Devil and Satan, who deceiveth the whole world. He was cast out onto the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
      "Who Deceiveth the Whole World"
Not just one group. But The Whole World! Think about that.
      The jews/Isrealites were worshipping Yhwh/Satan
      1 Kings 22: 23
23 Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
      1 Samuel 16:14-23
      King James Version
14 But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.
2 Corinthians 3:14-18 King James Version (KJV)
but their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Jesus. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
The vail is lifted in the reading of the words of Jesus.
The Vail remains to this day in the reading of Moses. Why?
Because Moses/Jews/Isrealites were deceived by Yhwh/Satan.
      Isaiah 5:20
      King James Version
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
The Deceived see Satan as God and Evil as Good.
Apologetics is making excuses for the evil actions of Yhwh in the Old Testament. But they are really defending the evil actions of Satan.
      Hosea 13:7
      Yhwh/Jahovah says....
“Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:”
      Hosea 13:8
“I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.”
      Revelation 13:2
“And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear (Tear) and his mouth as the mouth of a lion (Devour) the Dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.”
      Leopard, Bear (Tear) Lion (Devour)
The Dragon gives him his throne and authority!
      Jesus says...
Peter 5:8 - Be sober. Be vigilant. For your enemy the Devil is like a roaring lion looking for whom he may devour.
      John 1:17
      King James Version
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus.
      John 8:19
“Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.”
      John 8:40-44
      King James Version
40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Jesus came to reveal the true Father but the Jews/Isrealites wouldn't listen. Instead they rejected Jesus and handed him over to the Roman's to be Crucified. Jesus came to redeem/free them from the Curse of Yhwh. You don't get redeemed from something good, you get redeemed from something bad. Nothing bad comes from Jesus/Father. Jesus told them "they are of their father the Devil".
      Hebrews 2:14-15
      King James Version
      14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
See, the Devil had the power of Death until Jesus came along and took it from him rendering him Powerless. Jesus took the keys from Satan when he was in Hades. Yhwh/Satan killed millions in the Old Testament.
Yhwh/Jahovah = Dwells in thick darkness.
Jesus/Father = Dwell in unapproachable light
Yhwh/Jahovah = Eye for an Eye
      Jesus = Love your Enemy
      Yhwh/Jahovah = Brought sickness
      Jesus = Healed the sick
      Yhwh/Jahovah = Killed
      Jesus = Saved
Yhwh/Jahovah = Commanded the Isrealites to kill neighboring Nations
Jesus = Love your neighbors as I have loved you
God is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Yhwh/Jahovah and Jesus/Father are polar opposites.
How hardly anyone has caught on to this is beyond me.
It's blatantly obvious when you read the Bible.
      Luke 9:54-56
      King James Version
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village
If it was god/Father who rained down fire in the Old Testament, then why did Jesus rebuke them and say "ye know not what manner of spirit you are of" ?? Jesus wouldn't Contradict himself or the Father.
So manner of spirit was Jesus talking about? The Spirit of Satan!
      Genesis 3:8
“And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.”
      Exodus 33:11
“And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend.
      John 5:37
“And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.”
Jesus said no man has ever seen or heard the Father at any time!
Therefore Yhwh isn't the Father. Yhwh/Jahovah is the Angel who gave the law.
      Again!
      2 Corinthians 3:14-15
      King James Version
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Jesus.
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
Wake up! You cant trust the reading of the old Testament.
The word of the true Father and the lies of Satan are intertwined!
The Bible only becomes clear through the Reading of Yeshua!
You must read the Bible through the Lens of Jesus!

15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
      Galatians 3:13-14

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

This phrase, Qetseph-Gadol, is only ever used to refer to the wrath of a God/Gods. I checked a concordance and did not find any usages that I thought were referencing humans. But if you would like to double check me on this I encourage you to do so. From my perspective, this passage must be referring to the wrath of Yahweh or the wrath of a Moabite God, very likely Chemosh.
"Is the author, who believed no God could rival the lord, really admitting another God could beat their own?" Here IP is unfairly projecting his modern understanding onto an ancient text. I think it's fair to say that IP, like myself, actually has no clue what individual wrote this text and has no authority to assume that they did not believe this. The Old Testament is rampant with Henotheism. The author may well be a henotheist. IP correctly points out that the monotheistic stories of Elijah and Hezekiah are in the books of Kings. However, we know that the work is redacted because the book itself tells us about at least one of its sources of information (the annals of the Kings). I must admit the possibility that the story in question was written by a monotheist, in which case, yes, Chemosh should not be understood as the source of divine wrath. But I think the more intelligent conclusion, i.e., the most likely situation, given our estimations of when these works were written and when they were later redacted, is that the author was a henotheist and the redactor was a monotheist.
So why would a monotheist redactor leave in a story about Chemosh's wrath? Well, for one, there's a lot of room for denial. As long as Chemosh isn't mentioned explicitly by name, people can come up with all sorts of interpretations that don't involve him, and that's exactly what we see them doing, even in 2023. But it also might not just be a case of denial. As IP points out, the phrasing in this passage is quite awkward in the Hebrew. One has to wonder if it's been tampered with. And if it is the object of tampering, then I think a likely possibility is that the monotheist redactor tampered with the story to remove an explicit reference to Chemosh. But this admittedly is pure speculation and should not be accepted without manuscript evidence. In any case, we do have other passages in the Old Testament where we do have the manuscript evidence to show that monotheistic redactors have altered the words of the originally henotheistic authors (Deuteronomy 32:8 is probably the most famous example). Just because the Old Testament was ultimately compiled by monotheists does not mean we should read the text with a monotheistic understanding as IP does; in many cases this is a gross error.
So I think it's necessary simply to read the passage and decide what is the most likely interpretation. I'll compare IP's interpretation to mine and argue that mine is more natural, and that actually we can use IP's own arguments against him.
IP argues that the Moabites are offering an apologetic burnt-offering sacrifice at which the Israelites are present and participating. Let's look at the examples that IP cites and see if they actually help his argument. He cites Judges 20:26 as a passage when sacrifices are made in response to a defeat. Is this a sacrifice of apology to the Benjamites? Not at all. It is a propitiation of Yahweh, intended to overturn their defeat in the next battle, which it does. This citation works directly against his own argument. Let's look at another passage he cites, 1 Samuel 7:9. In this passage, things look to be going very badly for the Israelites. Do they capitulate and sacrifice to the Philistine God, or offer a sacrifice of apology to the Philistines? No, they sacrifice to their own God, Yahweh, and he is pleased, and he defeats the Philistines for them. This passage is a perfect example of an army in dire straits making a sacrifice to their own God and being answered affirmatively. If we interpreted the Moabite story in the same way, we would say that the Moabites, in dire straits, sacrificed to Chemosh. He heard them, answered, and gave them the victory. IP's citations work directly against him.
How about the story of Ahaz and Assyria, later in Kings? Is this a strong parallel that helps IP's argument? Not at all. Ahaz has not gone to battle with the Assyrian kings. He has actually voluntarily subjugated himself and fought on their side. This cannot be a burnt sacrifice of apology because there is nothing to apologize to the Assyrians for. It's a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the Assyrians. It includes burnt offerings, and also grain offerings, and also drink offerings. This clearly cannot be of much use at all in comparison with the Moabite sacrifice.
IP quotes: "nowhere in the biblical text do we find the burnt offering functioning as the means by which one would appropriately provoke a deity for military victory assistance." But this is obviously entirely false because he himself has cited one such instance, 1 Samuel 7:9.
So one of IP's citations (Ahaz) is of no use to his argument, and two of them work directly against his argument. I think most likely IP simply accepted what his sources were telling him and didn't actually double check the passages. Or maybe he did, but he counted on his audience not double-checking him, and knew he could get away with the deception.
As for the idea that we must look to the Bible for context, yes, but why not other documents as well? IP probably didn't expect anyone to read the papers he cited, but unfortunately for him I did, and it turns out there are citations of instances in other cultures (Ugaritic and Carthaginian) of using child sacrifice to overturn an ongoing battle. They aren't perfectly analogous, but they are certainly worth addressing. It's awfully convenient that IP failed to mention these. And of course there's the crucial Moabite Stone, which seems to be discussing the same war as the one in 2 Kings 3. There the opinion is made clear that Moab's temporary vassalage is the result of the displeasure of Chemosh. Rather than doing some sort of apologetic burnt offering sacrifice to the Israelites, doesn't it make more sense for the Moabites, who believe their God is displeased with them, to give him a royal sacrifice that is sure to please him?
And now let's turn to the passage itself. What does it seem to be describing? Is it a sacrifice taking place after the battle is done that the Israelites are participating in? This, of course, is nonsense. Nothing in the passage suggests this, and IP is really trying to stretch things in order to get us to accept this. Rather, it appears that we have an accurate and standard description of ancient siege warfare. "Only at Kir-hareseth did the stone walls remain, until the slingers surrounded and attacked it." What is going on here? Are all the walls of the city razed? Probably not. You can't raze an entire city's walls until the battle is over. But the Moabites follow this with a sortie clearly showing that the battle isn't over: "When the king of Moab saw that the battle was going against him, he took with him seven hundred swordsmen to break through..." It seems to me that what's going on here is a rather standard event. The Israelites have made a breach somewhere in the wall. You can hardly defend a city once it's infiltrated so the Moabites have made the standard response- a last ditch attack through the breach, trying to save the city. And as is typical, this final offensive strategy fails. So the king resorts to the most drastic measures, sacrificing his son. It's all entirely standard stuff, a typical succession of increasingly drastic measures on the part of a losing king. Why try to twist the sense of the text to make it something strange when you can understand it in an entirely normal way? There's nothing in the passage to suggest that the battle is over. And by God, do you really think it makes more sense for the King to sacrifice his own first-born in the context of an apologetic sacrifice to the Israelites. No, obviously not. It makes way more sense as a move of desperation on the brink of defeat.
So the most natural interpretation of the passage is that Chemosh has responded to the sacrifice affirmatively and removed his displeasure, granting the victory to the Moabites. This need not mean that he is stronger than Yahweh. In ancient mythology, battles between God's (eg. Baal and Mot) are often not guaranteed in their outcome, even if one God is stronger. But since IP thought that Yahweh did not approve of this battle and that the Israelites were breaking the law of the Torah, I also think it could be perfectly reasonable to suggest that Yahweh, while more powerful than Chemosh, is permitting Chemosh to overturn the Israelites.
    Hope this helps.

The main issue here is that when people do hold to a Chemosh victory here, they typically are also keeping in mind the Mesha Stele. 2 Kings was written by a later generation, chronicling the history of the Israelites. The Mesha Stele was written by a contemporary to the war. Both written from the perspectives of their respective sides, but both give insight into the conflict. I think by not addressing the Mesha Stele that you are doing a disservice in this analysis. Sure, you might hold that 2 Kings is a much more trustworthy source, but the historical value of the Mesha Stele is unquestionable.

    • @magnificentuniverse3085
      @magnificentuniverse3085 ปีที่แล้ว +7

My understanding is that events in Mesha Stele predate this war in 2 Kings. This war is actually a revenge for the things described on that Stele. Mesha got his freedom from Israel and Joram called his best buddies to punish Mesha for doing that... Mesha Stele doesnt mention neither Joram nor combined forces of Edom and Judah, only that the long suffering of Moab under Omri and his son (Ahab) is over... that perfectly suits 2 Kings 1:1 and 2 Kings 3:5 which sas that when Ahab died Mesha rebelled (during Ahaziahs reign)... only after Ahaziahs death and Jorams accession to the throne this counter attack begins which is not mentioned in the Stele.
But even if the Mesha Stele describes this war with Joram and his allies, it doesnt add up anything to the discussion at hand. Ofc that he ascribes his victory to Chemosh, but that doesnt mean that the authors of 2 Kings thought that it was Chemosh who defeated them and their Lord.
The purpose of this video is to interpret the specific verse in 2 Kings, its original meaning intended by the author of the book, so it doesnt matter if its late or not cause the main purpose of this video isnt to prove historicity or describe actual events but to offer a different understanding of that specific verse about wrath coming against Israel, and it does an awesome job.

Yhwh is the Dragon who was Cast out of Heaven
If God is the same yesterday, today and forever, then why is it that Yhwh and Jesus are polar opposites!??
Both Malachi 3:6 and Hebrews 13:8 declare that God is the same always and never ever changes. He is always good, always loving, always all-powerful. No matter how this world changes around us, we can trust God is consistent. He is the same yesterday, today, and Forever!
Yhwh and Jesus are polar opposites.
But even Christians are absolutely convinced they're one and the same.
Yhwh is a physical being on Earth.
Yhwh is not the Father Jesus spoke to us about.

Wake up! You cant trust the reading of the old Testament.

I have a question regarding Saul, in 1st Samuel it says that he sought the Lord's help but the Lord did not help him but in Chronicles it says that the Lord did not help him because he did not seek the Lord but he sought the help of the dead. How are we to understand this?

Saul aka Sheol is the evil winter season and is called the land of the dead. The Lord that helps is the summer season of crops/blessings.
Samuel (heard of God, or Aries). Samuel was the son of Elkanah (the Ram that builds = the Creator). Elkanah, we are told, was of Ramathaim Zophim, or the two-topped overflowings; i.e., the former and latter rains. He was also an Ephrathite, i.e., a son of Ephraim, or the twin-land '= spring and autumn, which corresponds to, and is the same as Ramathaim-zophim. Elkanah was, then, the Ram Aries during the year, or the year itself. He is further identified as the son of Jeroham (the finder of mercy = spring); the son of Elihu (his Ram = Aries); the son of Tohu (the depressed one- winter); the son of Zuph (flood = former rain).
Like others of the Bible patriarchs, he had two wives: Hannah (favor = Virgo during spring and summer before the ingathering = Sarai), and Peninnah (she that faces the Fishes = Pisces; from peni, to face, and nun, a fish, as Virgo does in the zodiac in autumn = Hagar). Peninnah, like Hagar, had children (ingathered crops), but Hannah, like Sarai, had none; consequently, a jealousy arose between the two wives; and Peninnah vexed poor Hannah until she " wept sore," i.e., until the rainy season, over which she presided, came on.

I believe there is the mesha stele that records the same battle described in 2 kings but from the perspective of the Moabite king and it says that the king made a sacrifice to chemosh and chemosh was satisfied and drove Israel back. It also doesn’t say that the king was seeking repentance for what he did.

It is a very common theme in the story of the Bible that is rebellion against God. One of the most prominent examples outside of the pentateuch was Solomon's marriage to foreign wives and building temples for their gods. Solomon participated in sacrifices to even moloch, which is a parallel to the story in kings. This is an example of that rebellion and obedience to a false god despite what has been commanded of them by the one true God.

According to the general consensus of scholarship (even critical Christian scholars), YHWH was originally incorporated into the Canaanite pantheon as a son of the Canaanite high god El before inheriting the top spot in the pantheon and El's wife Athirat (Asherah) before religious reforms. If you want to see if El is fictional, just read his mythology in the Ugaritic/Canaanite texts.
"I should add here that it is very clear from the grammar that the noun nachalah in v. 9 should be translated “inheritance.” *Yahweh receives Israel as his “inheritance” (nachalah), just as the other sons of El received their nations as their inheritance (nachal, v. 8).* With this verb, especially in the Hiphil, the object is always what is being given as an inheritance. Thus, Israel is given to Yahweh as his inheritance. ((Here I’m indebted to Dan McClellan.)) It would make no sense for Elyon to give himself an inheritance. Moreover, as I’ve argued elsewhere, it is not just the Gentile nations that are divided up according to the number of the sons of El. It is all of humankind, i.e., “the sons of Adam.” This clearly includes Israel. And the sons of Adam are not divided up according to the number of the sons of El, plus one (i.e., plus Elyon). They are divided up, according to the text, solely according to the number of the sons of El. *Thus, that Yahweh receives Israel as his inheritance makes Yahweh one of the sons of El mentioned in v. 8. Any other construal of the text would constitute its rewriting."*

Another interesting note, is that if we read the LXX version, it says in Greek:
"Then he [went back] and took his firstborn son (the one who was to be his successor) and sacrificed him as a whole burnt offering on his [city] wall. And since he’d offered his repentance to Israel in such a great way, they left his land and just went back home."
This translation is written in accordance to the interpretation or understanding of the 70 scribes at the time who wrote the LXX from Hebrew way back in 300s B.C, and this would support one of the arguments made that it was an act of repentance on the king's part to YHWH and Israel, after he had lost. The Greek version interestingly, doesn't say there was wrath, or a defeat, the Israelites just "leave" of their own volition because of the king's repentance to them and their God.

YHWH IS THE DEVIL AKA DRAGON
      "Who Deceiveth the Whole World"

but their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Jesus.

Apologetics is making excuses for the evil actions of Yhwh in the Old Testament. But they are really defending the evil actions of Satan.

      Yhwh/Jahovah says....

“And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear (Tear) and his mouth as the mouth of a lion (Devour) the Dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.”

      14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

      Again!

Why can't the passage just mean what it states plainly? The pagan king offered human sacrifice to his pagan god because he was losing and great wrath came from this god against Israel and they found it to much to bear (refused to trust in YHWH) and withdrew from the battle instead of depending on the prophecy of Elisha that they would defeat the Moabites? Most of the Bible records the belief and unbelief of His people. When they believe; they win. When they disbelieve; they lose. This is just another example of the unfaithfulness and unbelief of His people and the consequences that follow.

The oldest recovered inscription with the name YHVH is the Mesha Steele. Mesha commissioned a steele that parallels the story in 2 Kings. In the Mesha Steele, there is no mention of a Moabite surrender. He basically brags about defeating the Isrealites and YHVH. “ I am Mesha, son of Chemosh-gad,[27] king of Moab, the Dibonite. My father reigned over Moab thirty years, and I have reigned after my father. And I have built this sanctuary for Chemosh in Karchah, a sanctuary of salvation, for he saved me from all aggressors, and made me look upon all mine enemies with contempt.” There is no archeological evidence that Mesha thought he was breaking an oath to Israel that would be displeasing to chomesh. He actually speaks about a mandate from Chomesh to run out the Israelites from Moab.
Mesha says in the Stele, “ Omri was king of Israel, and oppressed Moab during many days, and Chemosh was angry with his aggressions. His son succeeded him, and he also said, I will oppress Moab. In my days he said, Let us go, and I will see my desire upon him and his house, and Israel said, I shall destroy it for ever. Now Omri took the land of Madeba, and occupied it in his day, and in the days of his son, forty years. And Chemosh had mercy on it in my time. And I built Baal-meon and made therein the ditch, and I built Kiriathaim.
And the men of Gad dwelled in the country of Ataroth from ancient times, and the king of Israel fortified Ataroth. I assaulted the wall and captured it, and killed all the warriors of the city for the well-pleasing of Chemosh and Moab, and I removed from it all the spoil, and offered it before Chemosh in Kirjath; and I placed therein the men of Siran, and the men of Mochrath. And Chemosh said to me, Go take Nebo against Israel, and I went in the night and I fought against it from the break of day till noon, and I took it: and I killed in all seven thousand men...women and maidens, for I devoted them to Ashtar-Chemosh; and I took from it the vessels of Jehovah, and offered them before Chemosh.
And the king of Israel fortified Jahaz, and occupied it, when he made war against me, and Chemosh drove him out before me, and I took from Moab two hundred men in all, and placed them in Jahaz, and took it to annex it to Dibon.”

Please take a look at the translation work of Mauro Biglino as it's far more significant than the silly Billy Carson conjecture you recently critiqued.
He's not a psued, he was previously commissioned by the Vatican to translate the OT literally and dismissed because he did what they asked.
It's an interesting story if nothing else.
Bless you for all you've taught me, your channel is laudable. 🙏

So Elisha punk'd the king of Israel, basically?
Sounds to me like he straight up lied, by telling the truth in a way he knew it would be misinterpreted.
Walter White does it all the time in Breaking Bad: lying by telling the truth.
He's not exactly the good guy there...

@Raccoon_Marine Does that make sense? Solomon prophesied, whilst th glory of god filled the temple, that if they disobeyed God and are enslaved, all they have to do was repent and turn towards the Temple and their sins would be forgiven. Either the prophecy was false or Yahweh was powerless or both.
