Noticing that my MPC1000 log wheel is not working much now, I desided to crack it open and swap it out. Here is me fixing it and talking about how I started repairing my own equiptment.
    Disclaimer
This is not a video telling you to open your synths. You can damage or brick them and this video isnt a tutorial on how to change the log wheel. You are souly responsible for your own DIY and repairs.
However dont be discourage to practice and play with eletronics. Its a lot of fun.
Like if you want to see more content like this, Ive been trying to figure out how i should deliver this content through one or multiple channels. This is something want to start adding as I do like the eletronics side of synthesizers. Also feel free to leave comments or questions below about #MPC1000, #Repair or any #Solderyou are looking for. always looking to improve my videos and I can let you know how in the comments or future videos.
This one I use a Canon760D and a Super Takumars. then the sound was recorded to Reaper. Switching between my tripod and new Smallrig handle for the handheld recording.

In a right paddle tablet it's so many microconductors-covered, there's so rack to reprogramming chords.

After how long of using do the switches fail again ? I recently did a full tact switch replacement on my mpc 1000 and it works so nice now that I am afraid of the time that they will start failing again

Depends on the tactile switch. See if you can find the data sheet. I recently replaced mine and know ill enjoy my Mpc1000 for years

Can you recommend a basic soldering kit? I bought a mpc1000 but the up arrow takes one or two clicks. Ideally I would like to replace everything to keep it fresh but the board from mpcstuff is quite expensive. I'm planning on just fixing a handful of the tact switches (mainly arrows, mode, and main)

The one I use is an ebay cheepy, think i spent 50aud. Just look for a soldering station and make sure it have varible temprature. You will need to get the solder, flux, solder sucker and wik which can be ~10-30aud depending on where you get it. However the solder tip cleaner is a metal scourer in an altoids tin, it works really well. The cost to set up is a bit but if you enjoy it you can move onto better equiptment. It really does open a world of posibilities, especially with eurorack.
Now for the MPC, they are tack switches so easy to find. I would say research what you need and how to do the repair... however if this is your first repair project. Please do not attempt untill you can comfortably A. take apart and put together a device B. solder and desolder parts.
Get some protoboard with the switches you are using, watch tutorials on how to solder and replacing switches on the mpc and getting them the right way. practice a lot. next get a toy keyboard, learn to take it apart and put it together without stripping screw theads. alot of the mpc nuts are mounted to sheet metal and are easy to strip.
I am glad to hear you want to repair your MPC after watching this video, I am going to add you do your own repairs at your own risk. however I hope you go well in your own repairs and have years of fun with your MPC.

Can you do a video on installing MPC 1000 Q Link Slider PCB Board? I recently bought one off mpcstuff but I see no tutorial video on it

You could try spraying deoxit on your tact switches. Its worked for all of my tact switches that broke. I have a tutorial on my channel

It's a skill to itself, and takes time. Might talk about repair culture at one point. Its a big passion of mine to keep things up and running.
