  • In my never-ending quest to find the best pad set fro my MPC 1000, I recently picked up some red FAT pads.
About 10 years ago I tried thickening a set of MPC 1000 pads by filling them with silicone rubber. They didn't come out perfect and played a bit inconsistency so I switched back to a set of stock pads.
In this vid I A/B test the stock pads and the FAT pads, show what the v1 / pre-upgraded sensor & pads look like, and show how to open your MPC 1000 and replace the rubber pad sets.
The FAT pads feel great and are exactly what I was attempting to DYI years ago.

The silicon is too soft so you gotta bang hard still. I use layers of electrical tape and they are very responsive to soft taps

I just upgraded my mpc 1000 with the red pads because I liked how yours looked. I also have the xl screen and 160gb hard drive installed with jjos. I am excited to get to production!!!!

you still have to hit them like hell... got a MPD24 and after almost 10 years of not using it for drumming I now decided to take it apart and mod it till it's at least half as sensitive as my friends Korg padKontrol.

Curious on the mods you are doing to make it more sensitive. I agree it would be awesome if it was more touchy.

@studiohacks I'm curious how you got your drum kit to work with your mpc. I have a Yamaha electronic kit. Its like a dmx pro or something. the mpc triggers the wrong drums or no drums sometimes. I have to map them but don't know how. I use a mpc 1000 and live.

Hey, do you still make the holder for your mpc?

I can hear from the impact there's no bounce and are a cheap material. Like playing drums on cardboard. I feel like you could probably order your own custom manufactured pads for less than mpcstuff charges.
