Its more like a granny gear 4 speed with overdrive and in my opinion is a great improvement over the sm 465 that the older trucks have. It really is, I only drove one in a 2003 2500 HD with 6.0. at least that's what I think was in the truck . that low 1st will probably be pretty cool in that suburban especially in 4 low. They shift better than the old ones too. I think you made a good choice and will like the transmission until it twists your drive shafts off with all that low gear power, lol, I meant that in a positive way.
I will probably do that when I can actually drive it somewhere other than my house. it would be nice to have some footage of it moving under its own power.
I'm looking to do this same conversion with my 6.2 could you please comment a list of all the parts I would need. I would greatly appreciate it, thank you.
The 89 should be the same as my 85 so there’s nothing to reprogram. If you have a gas engine with TBI, that may be different, but with the diesel there’s no computer.
Hi. My Burb is an 85 GMC K2500. The transfer case is an NP208. There was an adapter between the TH400 and the NP208 that isn’t necessary with the NV4500. I’m using the same transmission cross member that came with my truck as well.
@@TorqueWagon oh cool, I happen to have a converted 203 mated to a TH400 just laying around. Will that case be a good start since I think the TH400 and my SM465 are both 32 spline?
@@jtp682 I think that should work. You’ll have to measure the total length of the current setup and compare it with your 203 and NV4500 combined. If there’s too much of a difference (more than about half an inch) you may need to find a different driveshaft. A slip yolk shaft will have a bit of wiggle room. I think my set up was about 3/8” shorter than original and my driveshaft still fits perfectly. You’re also going to have to cut a new hole in your trans tunnel because the NV4500 shifter is 4-6 inches farther back than the SM465.
It depends on what transmission the blazer has. If it’s got a TH400, it should be exactly the same. If it’s a 700r4, you might run into some differences in driveshaft lengths and crossmember placement.
marcus falcone kind of. It’s on the street on the side of my house, which isn’t that busy. The cross street that you can see out the front of the burb is super busy though. I wanted to work out of my garage but I’m not sure the suburban will actually fit and I haven’t been able to get it started to find out. My driveway has a decent incline, so that was out of the question as well.

You need to make a video on the Burb that's your inspiration for this build.

can this work with a 96 dakota 318 5.2L v8
I'll bet your grandpa is proud of you!
I know this is a long shot but im doing this on an 89 k2500 with a th400 would i need to reprogram anything

@@TorqueWagon you're awesome, thank you
hi, can you explain what year your rig is and also what transfer case is in there with the 400?

How similar would this swap be to do on a '94 K Blazer?

@@TorqueWagon it's got a 4l60e garbage transmission, same dimensions as the 700r4. I might give it shot this spring.
Are you doing this on the side of the road

That transfer case fit’s On a th400 4x2?
Not that I know of. It does require an adapter to connect to the TH400, though. The adapter isn’t necessary to connect it to the NV4500.
TorqueWagon ok but my transfer case is not nv4500
