    Thanks. Well produced, edited, and paced. Great callouts of important points. Filled with useful information to budding drone videographers with little photography knowledge - like me. You did the classic lecture, (1) tell them what you're about to tell them, (2) tell them in the time necessary, (3) summarize what you told them.

    Had a 1st outdoor flight with my MA and after having watched a lot of vids to prepare I found your tips to be excellent and without unnecessary drama or the ubiquitous ‘Hey TH-camrs what is happening’ shit, or crappy music and intros.

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very cool, thanks for the thumbs up Max Headroom! How was your first flight?

    • @maxheadroom8814
      @maxheadroom8814 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Up to 5 flights now and have managed to avoid crashing into the trees. Still flying with prop guards and did touch some thin branches. Picked up a set of Pgytech ND+CPL filters which flare a but but no colorcast. Getting a hang of mode-2 on the controller is not that easy. When the quad is far away it gets hard to tell which direction its facing. Guess I should be looking more at the phone app and not the quad. Will try to find a sinulator to practice in VR. Hopefully by the time it’s warm enough to fly without gloves I’ll be ready to film something interesting. Thanks again for your honest and helpful videos Jeff!

Question: I like to manually expose my shots when taken pictures...but when I do so, I noticed that I can’t set my focus. If I switch back to auto, I can tap focus anywhere. Thank you Jeff. I just bought my first drone, a Mavic Air, this weekend. I'm really keen on getting into cinematic drone photography and have been trying to absorb as much as I can from tutorials on TH-cam. First thing I ordered was a set of these ND filters. I think the auto mode for the video is good enough althought I want to get the best shots possible so I find your videos. Awesome stuff! Would be super nice if DJI would set up some type of presets based on what most people try to achieve manually. For instance
    Cinematic Mode1 4K:24fps, Shutter 50, Gimbal, Controls and Breaking Smooth
    Cinematic Mode 2 1080p 24fps, Shutter 50, Gimbal, Controls, and Breaking Smooth
    Slow Motion 1 1080p 120fps, Shutter 240 etc.
    I don’t even think it gives you the option to save profiles like this at this point does it? If not, definitely should. If so, please let me know how. Thanks! Keep up the great work!

      hi friend, i bought polarpro nd-filters cinema series (ND32 ND64 ND32PL ND64PL) and i use the setting you recommend in your video, but i have to admit that the picture is quiet dark. any tips for adjusting ? or do i need ND 4 / 8 / 16 ? i use iso 100, shutter speed 1/60 and 30 fps. thanx and greetings from rostock, germany !

      oh yeah, that is pretty dark. I have the ND4, ND8, and ND16. ND16 handles mid day very well for me. ND32 and higher would be for midday at the beach, or desert conditions, etc. This is what i used on the Mavic Air: amzn.to/2ELOu8J . Happy Flying Vectorixx

    Excellent and very helpful video Jeff. I am learning to create more professional films with my Mavic Air and this was really helpful. I notice you had three filters in the kit although there is a larger kit with more filters available. Would you recommend I invest in the larger kit or woukd the 4 8 and 16 be suitable? I am planning to film in bright sunlight. Thank you

      A Google User interesting timing, i just posted a video today on this. For bright sunlight, i would suggest getting the custom set of 3 from polar pro and get the 8,16, and 32. That should cover just about any situation. Happy flying!

    Excellent explanation of how to set up the Mavic Air from soup to nuts. I especially thought the summary explanation was excellent because there was so much information to digest. I was able to get my paper and pencil out and write it down as you explained your reasoning for the settings. You must have been in the military. Tell them what you are going to tell them. Tell them. Then tell them what you told them.

      Thanks Jim for the thumbs up. No military training for me, but my dad was in the Navy and definitely has been known to tell me how things are done. :)Cheers!

    Hi Jeff , fantastic tutorial . I don't know whether you can help me , I pretty new to this , but my video playback from the internal storage to my computer looks very grainy and pixilated , especially with the rotation of the drone. I have not played with any camera settings. Thanks for any help .

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Peter, are you viewing playback from something recorded on your phone's storage or are you talking about the internal storage on your Mavic Air? It could be a slow PC. Can you post a video clip or a screenshot for your DJI Go4 app from your phone while the mavic is recording. Should be able to confirm the mavic is set up properly.

      Hi Jeff, I have now loaded the video clips on to a USB stick and the video playback is good on 2 laptops, and on 2 large screen TVs we have in the house. My desktop PC is about 7 or 8 years old and the video playback is very pixilated on that, so the problem must be the old PC . I hope this may help someone else with the same problem . Thanks very much for your reply and your help. Keep up the great videos on TH-cam .

    Quick question Jeff. What series of the filters do you have? I see at least 3 different ones.

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bought the cinema series 3 pack (ND4, ND8, ND16). If i had to do over, i would get a custom pack cinema series (ND8, ND16, ND32). I can make do without the ND4.

    Very informative video, thank you. I need to try out now.
    Coming from photo, I would like to take action sport/ like kite surf or ski ...so 1/60 speed seems too low.
    What speed will you recommend?

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing wrong with auto mode. I think the mavic air shoots pretty good straight out of the box.

  • @pvictor54
    @pvictor54 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are very right about the risk of a cinematic mode. I almost lost my drone lifting it up in the narrow yard between high buildings from all four sides. It has lifted ower the roofs and because of the wind vanished of my site. At the very moment a low battery warnind appeared. It was quite difficult to bring the drone back, since I`m a newcomer in drones flights.
