Sad thing here in Australia, the only time I ever see Konami anymore is in gaming rooms. And these are not fun gaming rooms, they’re stupid gambling rooms full of slot machines/pokies at every single pub/club in the country (WA excluded iirc). They seem to make new slot machines all the time, sigh.
Never knew Konami created a console! I was aware of Capcom but never of the company that used to dabble with beat em'-ups, whips, turtle power and metal gears!
If you were expecting an actual image of the so-called "Konami Console" this is not the place to watch it. Meanwhile I'm going to play on my Atari Playstation 2 console that I imagine I have in my collection.
Keep making videos, you do a great job. There's been a bit of a dog pile on recently, but shake it off. The positive outweighs the negative. We all make mistakes, and should receive understanding and forgiveness at some point. I've enjoyed your content, and you still have a lot of miles to go. Keep on trucking.
Konami also did Astro Invader (which, like Scramble, Super Cobra and Tutankham, was licensed for the U.S. to Stern), which in Japan was called Kamikaze.
Batman Returns on SNES is the best batman game on the system. They used to make very good games back in the day, good games back then were a necessity for gracious gaming.
A 3D home console would definitely have had the hype - they all did in subsequent years - but a handheld 3D machine at a time when the Game Gear was consigned to history mainly for cost and its hunger for AA batteries, not a great idea. I can imagine me trying to convince my mum to pay much more than she did for my NES and then keep me in AAs afterwards.
Perhaps, but I think it might’ve been doable if they did what Nintendo did and kept the display simple. There isn’t much separating the Game Gear and the Game Boy technology-wise other than their screens. Both were based on their respective company’s 8-bit home consoles (the Famicom and Master System, respectively), which is why the Game Gear could play Master System games with a simple adapter. Where Sega screwed up wasn’t in the processor department but with that screen. They tried to stand out by giving it a color display, but it was too expensive, drained the batteries much faster, and generally just looked like shit. The same goes for their contemporaries, the Atari Lynx and TurboExpress. Konami could’ve avoided this mistake by going black and white (but hopefully, a true black and white unlike the Game Boy, and maybe with a backlight) and putting everything into a better processor. Don’t forget: with cartridge chips that were released around the same time, the SNES was capable of rendering simple polygonal graphics, and this Konami handheld wouldn’t have needed to have them on every cartridge if it already had them on-board. It probably still would’ve been more expensive than the Game Boy, but I think it would’ve been doable.
@@TBustah Game Gear had twice the vram, color screen, and cartridges up to 128 times the size of the game boy. While the two have a similar processor and ram, the two units are extremely different. Gameboy remained supreme due to it's price point and battery life. Nothing else. It was a solid marketing strategy. Many kids had one, including myself. Brand name, familiar titles (though completely different gameplay than the nes), and cheaper than alternatives. I wanted a game gear or ngpc. Fast forward a few decades and I now own a neogeo mvs. Amazing unit no one could afford.
I look the other way with your pronunciation of mario, but i cant with suikoden 😂😭 swee-ko-den is the most accepted pronunciation with tsee-ko-den being the true japanese pronunciation. Love you though!
It's probably good they didn't get in. We had 4 major consoles plus NeoGeo in the 90s. If Sega consoles couldn't survive, neither could they. Although I think in 2022 we could use a 4th console to fill a niche market.

Okay kids I have had it! If you fight about who's turn it is. I'm getting out the Atari 2600 and send you to your room. Maybe you can figure out how to take turn's, that way! The video game market in the U.S. didn't crash in 1982. Atari crashed in 1982. Like the Lady said "WE" just stopped playing. And no they never had competition. By the time the toy company's came out with there Atari 2's. "WE" had quite paying and didn't care. Moved on to girl's,car's and first jobs, school. Be real this didn't rock the nation. Thousands lose job's? No!

Suikoden is pronounced SWEE-KO-DEN, or TSEE-KO-DEN but definitely not how you pronounced it. Also, the most iconic game Konami made on the PS1 was SOTN, which you didn't mention.
@@PiroKUSS Don't get me wrong. The end of MGS was nuts, but SOTN was the first, true Metroidvania game, which is the most extensive genre in games today with the possible exception of the FPS genre.
@@PiroKUSS how many times has MSG been re-released? An original copy of MSG will run you $35, complete. SOTN - $150. Both have a "greatest hits" version, so they both sold over 1 million copies, though I believe MSG sold approximately double what SOTN did.
Solid video. Didn't know this level of detail. Also, like the humor thrown in here and there
I heard the 8-Bit version of the Hungarian song in the background

Wow I never knew that. Great info. Video.
All I can think about is how a 3D portable console in 1992 would have been absurdly expensive. It would have bombed in a major way.

5:56 - I can answer that question Capcom. They were pretty much neck and neck until Konami fell off hard years later.
"Bitches love Frogger" needs to be on a t-shirt.
2:27 I'm assuming that includes you as well? Sorry, I couldn't resist
How have I not come across this amazing channel before???
So much rare footage, attention to detail and such a lovely, kickass english accent 🤩

Thumbs up just for the line "bitches love Frogger".
If anyone could have done it back then, it's Konami. They'd be such a different company today if the succeeded.
