Steve thank you for explaining mechanics in a manner that myself a 67 year old woman can’t understand. After paying $400 to have two riding lawnmowers completely gone through and maintained only to find that they did nothing. I now do my own mechanic work thank you
So someone told me to take my carburetor apart, boil it, and put it back together with a rebuild kit! Have you heard of this before? It was an older carb. Thanks for sharing!
Steve it's Keith I found out how to fix electric lawnmowers it's not that hard to fix a belt. I know that you mainly work with petrol lawnmowers but electric ones are being thrown away and can be easily fixed. 7 screws and one bolt to hold the blade to undo. 15 minutes later a gentle run in of the belt job done. Have a look see what you think I've picked up 2 and given them on for nothing but cost me £20 I'm happy
Great presentation Sir. I had an Echo leaf blower that would not start anymore. I piddled around with it for about two hours, and I used to be a motorcycle mechanic so I assumed my mechanical experience would help me. It didn't! I abandoned the project and bought a corded leaf blower with a long extension core and began using it. I guess I will revisit that project and thanks to your instructional video and maybe I can bring it back to life. BTW, I love your choice of suds. There is nothing more fun when working on a project like this and drinking beer! Here Here!!!
Excellent info Steve. That's something that isn't anywhere else in a video. I bet you're searching for different repair topics to see which ones have lots of videos and which ones don't. Smart man. This trick really doesn't help mechanics and diy people that throw Chinese aftermarket at everything but actually helps the little guy trying to actually rebuild something he might be wasting his time.
Carbs got meet emission regs so needs all the help it can get. They used to be simple not now. They run as lean as possible and have power valves and accelerator pumps. Good job we doesn’t use fuel that attacks pipes and other components and leave it in the shed without cleaning out the fuels system and servicing filters first. Then let the oil settle out from the fuel over winter and start them on raw gas I mean that would seize the engine right.😀
@@StevesSmallEngineSaloon I started tinkering with small engine 30 something years ago when I went to work at Fire Department and you have help me with things I’ve wondered about
Another good video Steve , I haven't come across that type of carburetor yet but it's very useful to know what to look for if and when the occasion arises .
Steve I think the ones on the fs90 are on the opposite end and have a plate over them. I don't run into fs38/45/55 carbs as much as the 90/91/94/131 etc. Lawn companies and what not. There basically throw away carbs. Might as well buy an Amazon carb. There about 90% accurate from oem. It's not perfect. Check valves make me wanna pull my hair out. The Achilles heel I call it. Hey thanks for the awesome videos, I've been following you for along time. Cheers!!
Same here. I was under the impression that two stroke engines didn't have an accelerator pump. I would like to know what symptoms are shown by one that is leaking.
Good to know Steve, just did that on my FS55R and bought a new carb. Hope this is the fix for mine. Earlier It was starting to run bad and then wouldn’t start at all. I was kinda stumped because I was getting fuel on the spark plug. Check spark plug and just barely getting any spark. So I picked up a new one of those also. Will let you know later how things went once I get these installed.
If you just filled it and it started to crap out, it could be the fuel. Even new it can be bad for small engines. You know because it's a night and day difference.
that might sound like one of my minor problems on my Victa 26cc Leaf Blower and it,s a 2 stroke here in Australia and it does sound about right to me but yeah i have a problem starting mine up but starting with the basics often does go a step further love it Steve mate cheers from the land down under.

Is it not possible to get replacement o-rings for accelerator pumps?
What are the symptoms of a failing/failed accelerator pump?
