i can't understand why some people don't like oydessy but it's a but excessive to hate on it considering how popular it is Mario Wonder d Deserves no hate
Wonder’s art style was way too childish for me. The New Super games were the perfect mix of family friendly, but adults would still enjoy it. I don’t see the same with wonder. Again, this is just my opinion. I’m not just “looking for a reason to hate wonder.”
and that's what's annoying to me, it's the fact that it's the loud minority. It's annoying because a lot of the takes against Odyssey really don't make any sense. I mean i've seen people say that Odyssey's moons are useless because they vary in difficulty yet still have the same value, but this goes for both Sunshine and 64 also. I mean for example you have Thwomp's fortress, were one star you literally just go left, go down and do any sort of high jump such as a triple or wall jump and reach the star, which is vastly more easy compared to other stars in Thwomp's fortress. I don't even have an issue with that but I'm just sick of hypocrites using logic against Odyssey which wouldn't even stand against the games they praise like 64 and Sunshine.
@@Daft0Cean968 Not understanding a criticism, doesn't mean it doesn't make sense. In 64 and Sunshine, the star/suns represented progress through the game. They varied in difficulty, but that didn't matter because finding one always felt rewarding. In Odyssey, the moons are over abundant, many hidden with no greater challenge than random coins, and are arguably less important than coins to the overall game. They ultimately suffer the same problem that the Blue Coin Challenges suffered in Sunshine, they aren't worth the effort of finding.
My dislike of Odyssey is mostly just out of the too many moons thing. Specifically them being easy to get. When it comes to the movement, aside from the fact it doesn't have a sunshine spin jump, I find it great. Heck, while not 1-1, there's a reason this sort of movement was modded into SRB2 for a Mario mod. And I love it there too.
Unfortunately this always happens, everyone loves a game, then a bit of time passes and they decide they hate it and then when the next game comes out everyone will inevitably start loving it again 🙄
That's because they're not as prone to reselling older titles like SEGA does, While I am more of a Sonic guy I respect what Mario goes for though tbh most of the Mario games are repetitive and have the same story plot over and over awhile Sonic goes for different villains and stories Even if some of the games failed at least SEGA tried, I'm not saying Nintendo doesn't try and Peach Showtime is a good start they hardly change up the Mario formula But fans make Nintendo sound worse then what they actually are
People didn’t flip on these games. Fandoms aren’t a monolith. At the start, the majority opinion is the loudest. For these games, the majority opinion was positive. Then time passes, the accolades quiet down, and people who never liked the games in the first place feel safe and emboldened to share their negative opinions on the game. As for people saying the games are bad…. I think to be bothered by it suggests that people are insecure about their opinions. Why should it bother me that somebody else didn’t like something that I liked? They aren’t obligated to like something just because I did. It doesn’t make my opinion less valid, nor does it mean that their opinion isn’t valid. Two opposite opinions can be valid at the same time, because different people can value different things in a game based on their personal past experiences. To say otherwise feels like opinion gate keeping. None of these games are objectively good. They can be subjectively good to a majority of people based on common values and game design principles that are held in high regard by the majority, but that still isn’t objectivity. We need to normalize letting people dislike things that we love.
@@bethanyh1637 on an individual level, sure. People’s opinions do change and evolve. But regarding the optics of what an entire fan base thinks, it’s far too often said that fandoms “can’t make up their minds,” which really annoys me. This notion that people who were singing a game’s praises are now the same people who are saying the game is actually bad is frankly absurd to me. I think that 9 times out of 10, you’re just seeing the opinions of a different subset of players within a fandom, not people who have radically changed their minds.
@@artsyomni You're right. The optics are near sighted. No one ever sees the entirety of a fanbase at any given time. But hype can cloud peoples' judgment to the point that they might not be as open to criticism they otherwise would be. The typical pattern, no matter the medium, is always downward... praise becomes scorn or apathy. Sometimes apathy becomes praise, but almost never does anything move from scorn to praise. I've seen my opinion of something change too often and I've seen the general opinion of something change too often to attribute 90% to different groups.
@@bethanyh1637 well I can’t pretend to know the actual proportion of how often it can be attributed to different people expressing opinions at different times. I’d have to do some pretty thorough research to come to a real conclusion on that. But my intuition is that more often than not, that’s what’s happening. I have a hard time believing that people who are open minded enough to actually be persuaded from one position to a different one are also frequently going online to disown their own previous opinions in a public forum. I think more often, people are just giving hot takes that they were too timid to give when they were surrounded by vocal people who felt the opposite way. I’ve had my own opinion of things shift in both directions. I enjoyed Skyward Sword a lot when it came out, but looking back, I can recognize its flaws. But because I’ve held both perspectives, I’m not exactly compelled to share some kind of incendiary take about it on twitter, because I think both perspectives are valid and don’t need to be challenged. Maybe I’m naive to think that other people will see it that way.
As I shouted into the void the last time this happened, sometimes people just take up unpopular opinions, such as hating on well-received media, purely for the sake of attention, because they’re hot takes. In reality, they don’t have those opinions at all.
@@ClaireS-op8id orrrr people actually have those opinions but don’t get noticed/don’t voice them until the original hype of the game has died down. Odyssey and Wonder are very overrated IMO, and *almost* every criticism I’ve seen against them are completely fair. It’s very sad people can’t have differing opinions than the majority without being absolutely trashed on for it.
For Mario Wonder, the reasons I dislike it are more like nitpicks, tbh. Like, every character plays the same (aside from Yoshi and Nabbit, who are "easy mode" characters - though I don't get why Easy Mode isn't just a toggleable thing). I also felt there is just some Power-Up drought in Wonder (Fire Flower, Elephant Apple, Bubble Flower, Drill Mushroom... oh, that's it?) Then, of course, the actual elephant in the room - the bosses. Four Bowser Jr fights, then Bowser. The Koopalings could've really benefited from Wonder power for unique Wonder-induced attacks, yet we slandered them too much which I think caused Nintendo to just forget about the Koopalings. Though, more ORIGINAL BOSSES could've been a good thing, too. Gotta "stay fresh", as the Squid Sisters would say. Also, Castle Bowser could've been a bit bigger of a world. Look at Mario 3D World's World Bowser, for instance. Castle Bowser is supposed to be one massive gathering where Bowser invites his entire army to watch his mind-manipulating rock concert and yet... there's only four levels in Castle Bowser. This game sure has a problem with the number four (FOUR Bowser Jr fights, FOUR Power-Ups, FOUR Castle Bowser levels. Where is this rule of FOUR coming from?!). Just little nitpicks on my end, but they're not reasons to outright hate the game. Mario Wonder is still a great time!
Yea, I honestly just blame the internet (or ig just social media) at this point for making it easy to spread negativity And that's not just for Mario games, but the gaming industry as a whole, everyone's too busy shouting "gAMiNg iS DyiNG" whenever a bad game comes out, as if bad games were a new thing, and then proceed to generalize that to saying even the good games we have now aren't as good as the older ones I personally think the Switch is Nintendo's best console, and I'm pretty sure someday we're all gonna be nostalgic for it, like, even the Wii U is getting there now...
@@marcoalves9029Especially they don’t know that Nintendo so far is literally carrying the future of gaming so far despite being shady along with Sony and Microsoft. At least you don’t see Nintendo acquiring multiple studios and publishers and not doing anything with them, along with buffing up prices at 100-120 dollars which is really crazy.
@@justinyoon2840as someone who owns a PC, PS5 and a Switch, I can confidently say that, in my opinion, Nintendo makes the best and highest quality games. They’re simply pure fun, and almost every 1st party Nintendo game has a charm to it which no game has ever come close to mirroring. They are all so unique, so fun, the art styles are amazing. Meanwhile everyone else (Xbox, PlayStation) is too worried about ultra realistic graphics, and now every game looks the same. Games don’t have art styles anymore on PS and Xbox. Save for a few titles like Elden Ring (but Elden Ring isn’t a 1st party game). Long live Nintendo, and I love that they still make and support proper physical games. No downloading bullcrap - but proper physical games. Put in the cartridge, and play right away. No need to download the game contents. All the content is on the cartridge (except for updates obviously). Despite all these things I love about Nintendo, I’m well aware that their Online services are very outdated. They don’t even have a party chat system. Whilst this doesn’t bother me, because I only play multiplayer games on PC/PS5, it’s still not an excuse because a lot of people only have a Switch, and the lack of a party chat system can be annoying. Meanwhile, PlayStation and Xbox have full on discord implementation on top of their party chat system. So yeah, they are lagging behind on the online aspect. However, for 1st party Nintendo games, I could talk about how I love them for hours. I don’t think I’ve ever played a 1st party Switch game without smiling at least once at the art style, the expressiveness of characters despite the lack of voice acting, the charming worlds and puzzles, it’s just all so amazing. And what’s so great is, I’ve barely even scratched the surface when it comes to Switch games. I’ve owned a Switch since December 2019, basically 2020. And there are still SO many games that I am extremely interested in buying in the future. However, these are some of my favourite Switch games I’ve played so far (in no particular order) 1. Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 3. Super Mario Odyssey 4. Super Mario Maker 2 5. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 6. Pokémon Legends Arceus 7. Super Mario 3D World (not played Bowser’s Fury yet) Games I own but have yet to play: 1. Skyward Sword HD 2. Link’s Awakening Games I’d like to play in the future: 1. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze 2. Super Mario Bros. Wonder 3. Pokémon Scarlet/Violet 4. Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom (on release) 5. Mario VS Donkey Kong 6. Mario Party Superstars
The only reason that people like the old games so much (despite the fact that newer games are objectively better) is due to nostalgia, that’s it, pure nostalgia
I don’t care what people think. If the game is fun, then I will support it. If it is memorable, then I will support it for a long time. That’s just how it is for me.
I still want to know why the “bosses” in Wonder suck so much. Instead of coming up with original designs, they chose to make _every_ boss just a rehashment of Jr. Talk about lazy writing and wasted potential.
@@oliverhurt3418 First of all, defaulting to calling the devs "lazy" is a stupid and reductive. Such ideas are a plague in the gaming community. There could be many reasons why bosses in 2D Mario are bad. It could me that they didn't prioritize it and ran out of development time. (Bear in mind that this game _was not,_ in fact, developed over 10 years.) It could be that the devs simply aren't good at making bosses. It could be that they don't care about bosses, and only add them by necessity. Or it could just be that momentum platformers like Mario don't make for good boss fights.
Yep and they want an excuse to get free games and come up with BS reasons to pirate and say Nintendo doesn't allow them to play older titles when every console had backwards compatibility and they're online service! And they also get mad at them for shutting down Wii U and 3DS shop when no one cared for it to begin with only when Nintendo shuts it down is when they all of a sudden care
I love Mario to DEATH. The reason they are hating on the most recent popular Mario games (Oddysey, Wonder) is only because of your brain messing with you. If wonder was the only Mario game, people would actually appreciate this game a lot. Or maybe not. But there is a thing that I know: Their standarts are extremely high
@MacUser2-il2cx i mean i kinda get it with TOTK. There's is alot of treading familiar ground in that game and i think that's why people were disappointed. However, i kinda was expecting that the game would basically be a mario galaxy 2 situation again, where it's just more breath of the wild. I think people were setting their expectations high due to how long it took to come out
No idea. We are in a new era where we have Mario RPG classics coming back at the same time as brand new Mario games that are actually high quality and not just NSMB games getting copied and pasted over and over again with lackluster sequels.
@bradleydrake6941 oh sir surely you're right! But in all accounts, those negative opinions without any concrete evidence about our beloved mario is an agglomeration of every negative part of fandons in general
As a Mario fan, I love Super Mario Odyssey, the gameplay was fun and the graphics/cutscenes were amazing, better than Sunshine imo. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is also amazing as well, all though it’s not my personal favorite, it still is one of the best Mario games I’ve played. It has so much unique features that the previous NSMB games don’t have. I do agree that the boss battles were pretty lazy and the game felt pretty short. But overall both of those games were absolutely amazing and fun.
I saw someone on a comment section say Sonic Mania absolutely sucks and there is nothing good about it. I immediately knew he was just trying to be different.
Why are people like this ? Mario odyssey was the reason that I got a switch when it came out. I love the Mario community for so many years for their creativity, and share in love in the games. Can't people just be satisfied.
While Wonder and Odyssey aren't in my top ten Mario games, I enjoyed playing them and would never say they suck. Even though they're not my favorite, I still think Wonder and Odyssey are amazing games that shouldn't be hated on.
Because new games become old games and nothing makes someone more mad than thinking older games were better than overpriced new games. Happens to Mario sonic fire emblem etc. It's why I loved seeing paper Mario ttyd release again same with Mario rpg. Pretty much destorys that logic instantly
It would piss me off if anyone said to my face that all 2d platformers are as simple as a mobile game, that’s insane, obviously simplicity was something old 2d games like Mario world and sonic had and most of those have mobile versions now but the 2d games also evolved making them a lot more complex than just two buttons. I’d like to see someone try to play donkey Kong country on a phone, it just ain’t happening
Wonder is such a fun game ! I honestly love most Mario games ! Some def lack some stuff but for the most part you can tell they truly put love into their games
This comment is more about Odessey than Wonder since I agree with the things you said about Wonder. Although I don't believe Odyssey is a bad video game, I can acknowledge that there are alot of aspects about the game that deserves the criticism its getting. From what I've seen there's plenty of really old videos (like 5 to 6 years old) that go over why in great detail. The most popular one being "Super Mario Odyssey - It's No Masterpiece" by Joesph Anderson. Anyway, although there are people out there that just hate for the sake of hating, many actually bring up valid points. It's sort of becoming a trend in its self for people who love a game to become very defensive towards others, who come out saying that they don't quite enjoy it or hold the same amount of appreciation towards a product even if a good amount of time has past. Its not an out of place concept for people to grow and their opinions to change. Sort of like toxic positivity, where your not willing to accept that a game you like could have any significant flaws, and the people who point it out are unreasonable and wrong for doing so.
Super Mario Odyssey got criticism 1 year after it's release it's not a recent thing so it isn't as drastic as you may think it is it started to get criticism after the hype died down
@@Josue_S_6411 It's also worth noting the hate for Super Mario Odyssey is not a more recent thing people have been criticizing the game 1 year after it came out
I think they’re both great. And they should get either deluxe versions or sequels for the switch 2. However for wonder, they should go back to the previous formula
When I first saw the wonder trailer, I was skeptical about it, since it was so different. But when I actually played it, I loved it! Seems like some people kept that feeling that i did unfortunately.
Wonder does have at least one big problem that we can all agree on though, that being the lack of save files. Otherwise, it’s a really good game, don’t know why people would be hating on it. Y’know, I think I heard about this being a phenomenon in the Sonic fandom, switching up on games a few years after they came out, saying bad games weren’t that bad or good games weren’t that good. My guess is that people are either second guessing their own opinions, or thinking a bit too critically and focusing too hard on minor flaws.
The worst part is seeing everybody really excited for new games, for example; Brothership or Jamboree. Then the community will just hate them months later after release for no reason at all.. People need to just be satisfied they even get this many games for the franchise, not every company does this and for the past year, Nintendo has been actually cooking up and listening to the community for some great games and remakes if I'm being honest.
I honestly prefer Wonder over Odyssey. I love wonder, even though it has terrible bosses, and easy mode characters being Yoshi and Nabbit (Hence why I never played as them to not lose medals). I do like Odyssey in terms of creativity and capture mechanics, even if tiara was a waste of potential, but after loathing it before in like 2021-2022, nowadays I think it's just ok nowadays, mostly because of those egregious abundance of moons and Peach not being playable, but other than that, it's my 2nd least favorite 3d mario game, only behind Super Luigi Galaxy 1, but Wonder? Now that's my favorite Mario game of all time.
I think, the Main problem is simply that we fans, after playing throught the game. Time passes and the we think about how much potential was missed. And then we get upset that the potential was left behindert and criticize far too late or to much. Because: nintendo should have investiert their time in something more useful or something like that. These are thoughts that I want to get rid of.
I should also note that this is happening with EVERY major Nintendo game on Switch as well as the Switch itself. If you ask me, all of it is just heavy nostalgia bias.
I don't hate Mario but I also don't like Mario I love games like 64, Sunshine, Kart 64 and Wii along with Mario World and the spin off's like Luigi Mansion and the party games but most of the Mario games are repetitive and repeats the same story and same villain Galaxy is a great game but I think that would have been a perfect chance to bring us a new villain someone other than Bowser I'm really just sick of the same thing over and over but there are still Mario titles I love like what I listed and a few more
I wish Super Mario Odyssey's main collectibles were more rare and valuable. Super Mario Odyssey moons are found all over the kingdoms, and are just as common as groups of purple regional coins. Most moons are hidden in the same way as a group of 3 purple coins. Even the multi moons just increase your moon count by 3. There isn't a unique collectible that there is only 100 of in the entire game that specifically come from the longer main quests and side adventures as opposed to the small secrets that you come across every few seconds.
For me, I can see on how someone can like odyssey, but for me something doesnt click for me about the game, I dont hate it by any means I just cant get into it. Wonder has been a game I kinda felt meh when it released, this could be that a few months before, I played New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe and for me, it takes a while for me to play let alone complete another 2d Mario. btw I dropped wonder after world 2
No way people think that Mario odyssey is WORSE than Mario 3D land💀. Mario 3D land is amazing, in fact, I grew up playing it. It’s just nowhere near as good as odyssey 😔
Honestly, Mario Wonder, though I think is a good game, has flaws that make the game come off as weaker to me than a game like New Super Mario Bros U. Firstly, the game feels light in content, as it only has 8 world compared to the more standard 9, with no bonus content like mini games, challenge mode, coin rush, etc. In its place, we have these break levels that honestly degrade the quality of the game. Just a bunch of nothing levels. The game also removes warps, so now, every play through is much more linear than literally every other 2D Mario game before it. Whenever I replay this game now, I will be forced to play some of the easiest levels before getting into the later good stuff. That isn’t to mention the common criticisms of difficulty, unbalanced badge mechanic, and bosses. Don’t get me wrong! I really like this game!! But, it’s on the weaker end of 2D Mario games for me.
That’s just video game fans, not just Mario or Zelda or Sonic or Pokémon- games come out, get loved, and then people just hate them for whatever reason with whatever terrible arguments they can muster. I just don’t care what they have to say if they pull a complete 180. If you reevaluate after some time and look at the flaws, I’m more willing to hear out the complaints. As for me and Wonder- I overhyped myself on the game and the trailers and stuff showed too much, so what I was most looking forward to, the surprise factor for a big new Mario game wasn’t there. Like, I’d still say it’s far and away the best 2D Mario since I’m not as big on World and 3 as other people. And I still think Odyssey is great, but I might like 3D World/Galaxy better. Yes, in a linear game, I always know the beginning to end, but if the game is still fun, and I have more fun with it… then I just have more fun with it. 3D World gets propped up by having Bowser’s Fury attached but the core experience is just fun to run through, and Galaxy has nostalgia bias, plain and simple. Even then, Odyssey is one of my favorite 3D Mario games, I just like what Galaxy and 3D World do more.
Wonder was a masterpiece that actually listened to what fans wanted for once and gave us a huge playable roster alongside exciting Wonder Effects to shake up the game and make it fun for all ages. It practically saved the franchise, or at the very least did a good job of renewing it. Can’t believe we’re already hating on it 😢
Even know I not a Sonic Forces person, I still play that game, even know Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle don't have great movement, it still a great RPG
I am a sonic and mario fan myself but i really hate how people are acting ungrateful on the games the developers worked hard on Feel bad for the developers
I hate when this happens when every 2 or 3 years people play tgese fantastic games and then hate them again. And it saddens my heart that natio wonder is one of those games. No matter what ppl think I will continue to always love these games and nobody can tell me otherwise.
I have always been a genuine and loving Mario fan since I was a kid. I have never had any toxic opinions at all. Why are these people so picky compared to fans like me?
mmm i dont think so. I really enjoyed Odyssey, but in my opinion Galaxy is much better. As for Zelda, in my opinion the best game is still Link's Awakening DX. Tears of the Kingdom looks fantastic, but I don't think it can top Breath of the Wild. I have no hate for any games in either series, because they are all good but I just don't feel that the newest game in a series is automatically the best one
In an ironic twist sonic fans are not being too harsh on Sega lately, I mean they still always complain like every fan base does but it hasn’t been insane. Sonic fans are praising Sega for not rushing the development of the newest sonic game, really the only complaints are going to paramount because of the sonic movie 3 trailer’s absence

Sonic 4 was a very sinful game since it was terrible but they had the nerve to call it the successor to sonic 3. Those are the big ones but honestly it doesn’t even scratch the surface of how many complaints fans have with sonic
Really need to find where the hate is originating and isolate the reasons. Is it coming from multiple Mario communities (i.e. Speedrunning, Modding, casual, Nintendo haters, etc), or just one community? Are their reasons valid, or are they letting their emotions get the better of them? My guess is that there are a mixture of both. People just like to blow things out of proportion, where any criticism turns to hate, and polarized views. Something can be great with a few flaws. Same for something can be awful, with bits of greatness.

Most of the time it feels like collecting Korok Seed from Botw with all those easy to collect moon. I also miss more bigger challenges. For me Odyssey is worse that. SMG1, SMG2, SM64 and SM3DW
I’m almost left Mario as a series because of Elden Ring (which also led to Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro). Their older games didn’t measure up to the “Soulsborne” test that I put many of my previous games through (Galaxy, Galaxy 2 and Odyssey) being the ones to pass. Then this 2D stoner game comes put of left field and feels like a love letter to Mario fans everywhere. Like I can even see the inspiration from Mario Maker of all games! Anyone saying Wonder is trash either hasn’t played it, or doesn’t realize what the game was going for. Not every game needs to be this huge AAA blockbuster 3D to be S tier. And Super Mario Wonder has taught me that.
5:11 What you’re saying here makes sense. I wanna try and elaborate on that (using Kirby as an example): Kirby and the Forgotten Land, being Kirby’s first big 3D adventure, was HUGE. But that obviously took time. And if they’re gonna to the exact same thing again, it’s still gonna be a while. So titles on the side were a great way to keep fans busy, so they rereleased Kirby’s Return to Dreamland on Switch (and I thought it was amazing). But for Kirby, most of the series history was 2D platformers, and the whole 3D transition is still new ground. And it’s not to say that transitioning to 3D and STAYING that way is a good idea. Sonic tried that, and people haven’t stopped saying that it’s slowly turning the series to ash. I personally think that 2D has the exact same appeal as 3D, but just achieves that appeal in a different way. My favorite games of all time are 2D. But that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy 3D outright. I just keep a sort of balance to enjoy the things I truly love. People just need to understand that no genre of game is reserved for a specific platform or audience, and that any game can be enjoyed with the right merits I’m sure not everything I’m saying would make sense, but I just wanted to get my thoughts out in the best way I can. TL;DR, 2D still is viable and any game is enjoyable with the right merits. These people just need to I guess widen their views. (Good vid btw)

Some Sonic games were a little lackluster just as some Mario games were. But both have gotten much better in recent years.

🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
That's because they're not as prone to reselling older titles like SEGA does, While I am more of a Sonic guy I respect what Mario goes for though tbh most of the Mario games are repetitive and have the same story plot over and over awhile Sonic goes for different villains and stories
Even if some of the games failed at least SEGA tried, I'm not saying Nintendo doesn't try and Peach Showtime is a good start they hardly change up the Mario formula
But fans make Nintendo sound worse then what they actually are
these aren't mario fans, they're tourists
Fax they don’t even make up any of the major mario fandom
This is literally a repeat of what happened in the godzilla fandom earlier this year.
They are Marion't fans
Wait 6 more months when people are praising Mario wonder for being awesome
I think you're close. But real opinions do change. And the loudest opinion isn't always the majority.
This guy is on to something. But calling Mario wonder a mobile game is kind of crazy.
@@JBLilPaper
That's fair. Faking hot takes definitely does not apply to everyone who criticizes these games.
Can’t people just be satisfied
Of course not, we're humans.
@@rockowlgamer631 true
Nope! A world where people can be grateful is only in a alternate universe
I wish
Think of all that work the developers put into their game just to get criticized😭😭
For Mario Wonder, the reasons I dislike it are more like nitpicks, tbh.
Like, every character plays the same (aside from Yoshi and Nabbit, who are "easy mode" characters - though I don't get why Easy Mode isn't just a toggleable thing).
I also felt there is just some Power-Up drought in Wonder (Fire Flower, Elephant Apple, Bubble Flower, Drill Mushroom... oh, that's it?)
Then, of course, the actual elephant in the room - the bosses.
Sonic fans and Mario fans be joining together from loving games one moment to hating games another. It all came together to this.
The reason people liked the old games is the fact that there wasnt as much negativity and people took the game for what it was
Yea, I honestly just blame the internet (or ig just social media) at this point for making it easy to spread negativity
And that's not just for Mario games, but the gaming industry as a whole, everyone's too busy shouting "gAMiNg iS DyiNG" whenever a bad game comes out, as if bad games were a new thing, and then proceed to generalize that to saying even the good games we have now aren't as good as the older ones
I personally think the Switch is Nintendo's best console, and I'm pretty sure someday we're all gonna be nostalgic for it, like, even the Wii U is getting there now...
However, these are some of my favourite Switch games I’ve played so far (in no particular order)
1. Zelda: Breath of the Wild
2. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
3. Super Mario Odyssey
4. Super Mario Maker 2
5. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
6. Pokémon Legends Arceus
7. Super Mario 3D World (not played Bowser’s Fury yet)
Games I own but have yet to play:
1. Skyward Sword HD
2. Link’s Awakening
Games I’d like to play in the future:
1. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
2. Super Mario Bros. Wonder
3. Pokémon Scarlet/Violet
4. Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom (on release)
5. Mario VS Donkey Kong

To make us miss the koopalings of course, and it’s working. I miss the koopalings.
Bosses were likely not a priority when making the game.
@@Crafty_boy70that's pretty much the problem with every mainline 2D Mario game. Why can't the devs evolve past this lazy mindset by now?!
For real
@@oliverhurt3418 First of all, defaulting to calling the devs "lazy" is a stupid and reductive. Such ideas are a plague in the gaming community. There could be many reasons why bosses in 2D Mario are bad. It could me that they didn't prioritize it and ran out of development time. (Bear in mind that this game _was not,_ in fact, developed over 10 years.) It could be that the devs simply aren't good at making bosses. It could be that they don't care about bosses, and only add them by necessity. Or it could just be that momentum platformers like Mario don't make for good boss fights.

The Switch has the best original Mario games and Mario remasters. The Switch is what saved Nintendo.
I think they’re both great. And they should get either deluxe versions or sequels for the switch 2. However for wonder, they should go back to the previous formula
Ah, yes, Mario Wonder the game I completed only in a few days along with getting a 100% on my file.
When I first saw the wonder trailer, I was skeptical about it, since it was so different. But when I actually played it, I loved it! Seems like some people kept that feeling that i did unfortunately.
I loved the Mario community for so long because of their creativity and share of their love in the games, but recently we've been losting it
Wonder does have at least one big problem that we can all agree on though, that being the lack of save files.
It’s not like they’re disconnecting with fans… yet people still will ain’t gonna like it.
Now that's my favorite Mario game of all time.
honestly, idc abt other people, if i like it then ill play it. and nintendo has been COOKING!!!
I think, the Main problem is simply that we fans, after playing throught the game. Time passes and the we think about how much potential was missed. And then we get upset that the potential was left behindert and criticize far too late or to much. Because: nintendo should have investiert their time in something more useful or something like that. I wish Super Mario Odyssey's main collectibles were more rare and valuable. Super Mario Odyssey moons are found all over the kingdoms, and are just as common as groups of purple regional coins.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is better than Super Mario World.

Super Mario wonder is one of the best Mario games of all time hands down

In an ironic twist sonic fans are not being too harsh on Sega lately, I mean they still always complain like every fan base does but it hasn’t been insane. Sonic fans are praising Sega for not rushing the development of the newest sonic game, really the only complaints are going to paramount because of the sonic movie 3 trailer’s absence
@@thebrickbros.1294Ever since Frontiers was able to jump back up despite its issues and criticisms, it was still a good Sonic game at least. For the movies side of things… yeah it’s kind of an issue here.
@@justinyoon2840 oh I was talking about sonic X shadow generations, not frontiers but you do have a great point.
@@thebrickbros.1294 The only time that the Sonic fans have been complaining most of the time was Forces since the game had tons of backlash. Thank god from Frontiers and now Sonic x Shadow generations aren’t getting tons of backlash so far.
@@justinyoon2840 I wouldn’t say it was the only time, clearly you don’t know this fan base as well if you think that forces was the only complained about game. Sonic 06 was one of the worst games of all time and nearly ruined the entire franchise, sonic and the secret rings was a pretty terrible game.
I WAS THE FIRST
I’m literally playing wonder
No I was
You were both about 10 seconds after me, I have screenshots showing the seconds
Nah lol
@coastercube838 Bro I literally looked right as I posted the comment and it said no views and when it refreshed it said I was before everybody else but maybe were before me idk youtube is weird sometimes
@@beefryvioligamingandmore there’s always some lag, I really don’t care that much. I just hate little 5 year olds saying “first” whenever a video gets uploaded
I actually am one who loved Odyssey tze first time i played it. However 7 years later i tried to replay this game and noticed more of its flaws. Most of the time it feels like collecting Korok Seed from Botw with all those easy to collect moon. I also miss more bigger challenges. For me Odyssey is worse that. SMG1, SMG2, SM64 and SM3DW
Calling Mario Odyssey mid is a blasphemy
Definitely! That's way too much praise.
@bethanyh1637 bait used to be believable
I played through all of Mario wonder once and haven’t played it since, lazy bosses!
I AN YAPE
THE YAPE IS HERE
“Mario odyssey is too easy” 🤓☝️

"my opinion is right, therefore, your opinion must be wrong": the video
finally, a sane person
Holy cow someone who gets it
But their opinions ARE wrong. "Android game"? Really?
@@Josue_S_6411 android game is a bit far, but every other criticism is completely fair.
5:11 What you’re saying here makes sense. I wanna try and elaborate on that (using Kirby as an example):
Kirby and the Forgotten Land, being Kirby’s first big 3D adventure, was HUGE.
People just need to understand that no genre of game is reserved for a specific platform or audience, and that any game can be enjoyed with the right merits
I’m sure not everything I’m saying would make sense, but I just wanted to get my thoughts out in the best way I can.
TL;DR, 2D still is viable and any game is enjoyable with the right merits. These people just need to I guess widen their views.
(Good vid btw)
