Totodile was one of my earlier favorite starters. I never got any pokemon handle games until X&Y came out, but seeing Totodile, and having that chance I'm excited!! I loved Totodile in the anime so much it was dumb(then they gave me Treecko.. and that became my favorite starter ever.)
But what if turtwig fairy/litten fighting/totodile steel. Fairy beats fighting beats steel, then you can reverse the triangle unless litten is fire/psycho or fire/ghost
But keep in mind rowlet was introduced at the start of of gen 7 so like 2016, and legends arceus came out at the end of gen 8, which was 2022. So it wasn’t that recent
@@metamaxiswhat do you mean? Typhlosion & Decidueye had no Japanese influence until they got their Hisuian forms. Cinderace is a soccer player, & soccer has huge ties to all of Europe.
@@metamaxis Pretty sure they had no Japanese-specific relationship until they made the Hisuian Evolutions Other than Samurott being named after "Samurai"
If this is accurate, well... I could see these being the final form. Feraligatr: Water/Fighting. Look at the muscles. Inceneroar: Fire/Fairy. Theres a french legend about Fey Cats. Also, Puss in boots. Torterra: Grass/Steel. Because it completes the Type-effectiveness Circle. Fire>Grass>Water Fairy
I like the picks, and we actually have grass and water pegged as the same combos. The issue is with Fairy, Fire resists, steel, meaning a Fire-Fairy type isn't weak to steel.
Turtwig, Litten, and Totodile sounds like some Great Picks. Turtwig is probably gonna be my choice but that may change based on the designs and typing of the final stage evolutions
Interesting, I tend to go in without seeing the finals, love the discovery along the way. But that's the beauty of pokemon, we all do have our different ways of experiencing the games.
I’d have to see the final forms, but of the 3, Litten is my favorite. If I like a certain final evolution, I’ll go with that. If not, I’ll get a Litten and either jot evolve it or only evolve it into Torracat.
i don't like seeing the final evo's because it ruins it the surprise you get of evolving a normal starter that then turns into a completely different thing also it makes it way easier to decide as if you saw the final evo but like another starter before you saw a final evo you would just pick a starter that you don't really like.
No matter what anyone says, I am not going to settle on anything until its officially revealed. Having said that, all three are cool and it would be cool if we actually get these starters.
I'm normally inclined to agree, but this is an official TCG set, it also isn't the first time TCG's dropped some new pokemon before they were revealed normally, a few paradox mon were shown that way. A lot like with movie's plots, we can see how the next one's going to go by looking at the paper trail of the future projects. In this case, it's TCG release schedule.
Man, the only three starters on any PLA TCG sets were the hisui ones. This is as close to confirmation as it gets because Pokemon were the ones that design the TCG stuff. And they gotta get that stuff out sooner because TCG power creep sets.
@@metamaxisThe previous set with the Hissuian starters was released after the starters were revealed. Z-A will only release in 2025 and most likely in the later half, there's no way this is a sneak peak. They just grabbed three popular mons
I don't believe for a second that a TCG wrapper means they aren't using Empoleon as a Starter in the _French_ Legends game. I'm still waiting for something official.
Serperior even more so. Just as Samurott was designed with Japanese culture, especially samurai in mind, the Regal grass snake pokemon is an allusion to Louis XIV of France.
I feel like Serperior, Empoleon and one of the other Fire Starters (not sure which would be French enough besides the already Kalosian Delphox) will have an Important Role in the game, but Not as Starter Pokémon. I see these Three as the Partners of either the Rival or Antagonist of the Game, with them obtaining the ability to achieve Mega Evolution (or possibly a New Evolution Type like it) as a Surprise when having to face it...
Hear me out: Torterra - Grass / Steel Inceneroar - Fire / Ground Totodile - Water / Fighting All of these are typing we haven't had for evolved starters yet (if I remember correctly) Edit: I commented this while half way through the video
Your argument against Cinderace being the fire starter in ZA is kind of flawed. You say it's because we just recently got Cinderace in gen 8, but you forget that Legends Arceus had Decidueye as the grass starter and it was introduced in the gen prior to Arceus.
It's not just recency, there's one other larger part of is that I didn't include here be cause it's one, far more bullet proof, and more comprehensive in the exclusion.
I hope so cuz if these the starters and if I don’t like torterra they all getting boxed for a Kalos starter cuz Totodile and litten are some really mid picks
It after seeing a theory I do believe we will just be getting the Kalos starter based off the theory of more mega stones is due to the ultimate weapon firing a second time
@@jerrynelson3779did you say totodile, the single BEST johto starter, is MID? COMPARED TO WHAT? Totodile is a great pokemon, And definitely deserves some attention. It's also the single most popular gen2 starter. That's said, all 3 johto starters are monotype, making them perfect for New Forms.
I am thinking they may go this route, because of how much hate Incineroar got from being bipedal. They could make it fire/ground and make its ability prankster. It seems like a good mischievous sort of ability for a cat.
While I got into Pokemon with Kanto, Johto was always my childhood region because I turned 10 when it originally came out. Kalos became my favorite region as an adult so I will be very happy if Totodile is a starter choice. To play a starter from my favorite childhood region in my current favorite region will be really amazing. Even if I think Piplup was the obvious choice because of it's Napoleon background.
Think of things like this... wouldn't it make more sense for the Pokémon based on a Historical Villain of France to be the Partner of a Rival or Antagonist?
Imagine this variant of Incineroar is somehow broken in VGC than vanilla Incinaroar. Or just make it broken in singles so Incinaroar can rule the world!
I don't think it's likely to happen, I've got a video in the works going over this in greater detail, but all pokemon that are oppressive, to even just strong but not oppressive are on a very precarious edge. We saw from things like MegaChomper, a loss of just a few stat points all but obsoleted its existence. Base Incineroar had a very complex layering of factors that made it so strong in VGC, the likelihood of them being able to threat that needle again with a different type combo, since Dark-Fire is actually quite good especially defensively, something few other combos bar one really can match.
@@metamaxis yeah I figured that would be the case, it’s just funny to imagine it. Maybe we will get the Fire/Fighting Incinaroar we always knew he could be
It'd be funny, but Godzilla's amusingly weak to ice in his classical incarnations. It's why he was able to be put in hibernation in Godzilla Raids Again.
A lot did, and largely why I didn't think it would have even been those two. Since they're too low hanging fruit. It's too obvious, and whenever 'leakers' make claims that quickly out at the gate, you can quickly dismiss them. Pokemon's been throwing curveballs, and I love it.
@metamaxis was talking to a group of friends and they're thinking whoever already had 7 star raids won't make the ZA club. So if that were the case, Scorbunny and Piplup are definitely cut. It's an interesting thing to go off of at least if that's the possible case.
If we see a raid for Chimchar or Snivy, then it's anyone's game. Litten is getting a raid so this could be debunked in terms of "ZA starter in raid could be last." Let's see those curveballs, Gamefreak
Okay so I don’t think these are our starters. Here’s why. Legends Arceus came out January 28th, 2022. Astral Radiance, the card set that had the starters featured on the fun packs, released in Japan April 8th 2022 and internationally May 27th 2022. For astral radiance it makes sense that the starters are in there, it was a yet unreleased set with Hisuian pokemon featured in the set. It was based on Hisui. Thing is…Temporal Forces released earlier this year, January 26th/March 22nd 2024. It doesn’t feature any Kalosian pokemon because Z-A hasn’t released yet. It makes sense that the fun packs would feature Turtwig, Totodile, and Litten because the set has all three of those starter lines within them as their normal forms. This wouldn’t make sense at all for being the starters since this isn’t a Kalos based set. We’re looking for a set that releases soon after Z-A, not one that released a year prior. It will likely be two or so sets after Surging Sparks internationally, since that releases November of this year internationally. If Z-A does release in February I mean. If not then we’ve got like…another 4-6 expansions until the end of next year. We’ve got the Japanese Super Electric Breaker coming in October which seems to be part of the international set Surging Sparks, and then Battle Partners in January 2024. If we’ve got a February release for Z-A it’ll probably be the Japanese set after Battle Partners that we’ll find our starter Pokemon on the packaging of. :) Of course I’d love a Kalosian Litten but I’ve gotta burst everyone’s bubble here. Save your excitement for Japanese leaks of the set after Battle Partners at the soonest.
something i thought was interesting was that i saw a theory that incineroar could be a circus cat, or like a cat version of the man who gets shot out of a cannon in performances.
If we look to history, the eiffel tower was built for the paris universal exposition. The illumis tower could be in its building phase in the game, so we could see many people coming from other regions. This would give the opportunity to get starters from other regions as an exotic curiosity
A STRANGE THING TO NOTE: Both cyndaquil and totodile are from gen 2 Both Rowlet and Litten are from gen 7 And yet Oshawott (5) And Turtwig (4) Are distinct. Guys i really think they like gen 2 and 7
The gen 2 attention is definitely because they recognise the need to buff the gen 2 starters The gen 7 attention though is probably because those are the third members they keep having their “best” ideas for. They cooked with the Hisui trio, archer/swordsman/shaman, let’s hope they’re cooking with the Lumiose trio
Honestly i feel like totodile might be water/dark just for anime sake alone. Totodile is so sunny and cheery, him having an aggressive counterpart would be an interesting spin on the pokemon. If not that i could see him being water/dragon since the list of that combo is so small. And it would be a rare case in terms of being a starter.
Massive unpopular opinion: But I really would like some official effort to give Chikortia another chance to shine. Plenty of fan games have gave it some redemption, and tbh I'd never pick it if I had a choice, but that's also the reason why I'd want to pick it
The thing is, it couldn't fix Meganium, even a mega wouldn't fix Maganium, because it wouldn't Meganium getting a stat bonus. That and to make a Chikorita evolution workable, it would need a massive change in it's statline, drop 5-10 from both defenses, 2 physical attack and maybe some speed and put that in special attack. MAYBE that'd help. But they've never done anything that drastic, its maybe 10 points for a variant's stat change.
@metamaxis I use meganium in OU and can do pretty good damage with it. Meganium isn't supposed to be an attacker. That's why people like cinder and newer mons bc they're fast and do massive amounts of damage. Meganium is supposed to be tanky and require thinking. It's supposed to be stall Mon. If they gave it fairy typing or even rock and give it flower veil, boost it's HP and defenses meganium could be liable. Even if they bring back aromatherapy again with flower veil it could be a great tanky support
Every starters almost always been offensive. If you look at them all, their highest stats are offenses, exception being Blastoise, Meganium, Snivy, our of a total of 27, they have always been offense.
Making totodile dragon isn’t overkill if they make the turtwig a steal type so he could counter the dragon typing but yes that does mean he gets a 4x weakness to fire
The issue isn't defensive on the grass starter, it's defensive on the water type. It's that it isn't just the triangle of the three starters, it's the starters and the rest of the region. It's the reason no starter has ever, or will, be sub-typed dragon. The water to be weak to all the grass types The fire weak to all the water types The grass weak to all the fire types. It's not so much an internal triangle thing, but external as well.
Kalos' legendary trio are loosely based on Norse Mythology. Here's my input: Tortera could represent the World Tree Yggdrasil, Inceneroar could be based on Berserkers or Surtr, and Totodile could be based on Jormungandr. As for the typings, any would do fr. We still get to have the fire, water, grass typings.
Zygarde 50% is Jormundgandr. Totodile could reference the Jotuns and a new legendary for the missing part of Yggdrasill, Niddhogr. Personal I think that legendary would be an ice poison type with the levitate ability as the counter to the Aura Trio
Not....now it works. they made thousand arrows because it's go to way to hit flying pokemon, it's as simple as just they made a move that's unique to zygarde because its unique. The idea of ZA wasn't a thought in their eye a decade ago when XY was made.
Legends ZA is an interestering. In addition to regional variants, because we are in the early stages of the region that introduced mega evolution, we are expecting them to re-introduce megas or something similar. Which means for the pokemon they decide to include, they may have a regional form, a mega, both, or neither.
I dobt this will happen for this game, but personally I want to see the sub types just rotate around the starter wheel, with the starters ending up as fire water, grass fire, and water grass. 1. I could see todidile ending up based off a moss covered swamp gator 2. Turtwig being a marsh that was set on fire, or said tank idea but it is fire type for the explosives 3. I have no idea what litten would be. Steam feels like a copout because of volcanion, but I like the idea of a cat cozying up with some hot tea in a french cafe
The issue with that is twofold, Fairy-fire isn't weak to steel, and Water dragon isn't weak to grass, thus completely obsoleting the point of the starter type trio in the first place.
Turtwig was my first ever starter pokemon. I’m so exited to bring my oldest partner on another adventure with me. I’ll have to do another playthrough with totodile though cause I love the Pokémon so much.
I thought this one was gonna be hard since Turtwig is my go-to starter for Sinnoh and Litten is my go-to starter for Alola, but Totodile not only being my go-to starter for Johto but also being my all-time favorite starter... My jaw dropped when the water-type for ZA was (hopefully) announced. I really hope this turns out to be official.😭
If Turtwig becomes a grass/rock type then it'll be the first grass/rock since since Lileep and Cradily, the only other one they've ever introduced being very recent, which is Ogerpon's cornerstone mask variant. It's a very unique typing since both grass and rock have 5 weaknesses, but putting them together you actually only get 4 weaknesses left, since a lot of their resistances nullify each other.
Fun fact, before Pokemon Legends Arceus came out, a Pokemon card pack called “Sword and Shield: Astral Radiance” came out with Oshawott, Cyndaquil, and Rowlet on it. So it can only be speculated that the Pokemon card pack called “Scarlet and Violet: Temporal Forces” that has similar configuration to the sword and shield pack that the follow could be the starters for Pokemon Legends Z-A, which are Turtwig, Tododile, and Litten. But again, this is speculation as it’s just similar packs but different starters, and it happens to be coming out not long after the announcement of the new Legends game.
That is what a lot were thinking, largely because the influence of 'leakers' going for the most obvious ones, and people repeating that over the last six months. To the degree its become an almost accepted fact. but logically, why would they have two Pokémon based on different French rulers, and then sports.
@@metamaxis you're right. I like snivy and piplup. scorbunny is the obvious fire starter 2nd is Litten. But I'm not gonna be surprised if all of them are not. Whatever it is make sure one of the jhoto, unova and sinnoh.
for torterra I think we might see something like part fire ghost ice or fairy think about it. the main focal point of torterra is the ecosystem on its back. sure grass/steel rock ground makes sense on its current design and colors but that doesn't mean that's what they will make its regional form into. I think the design team is going to focus on the trees on its back and they could go anywhere from dead trees and gravestones(ghost), trees on fire(fire), icy trees(ice), or flowers and some cherry blossom tree(fairy)
We got 1 fire/ghosts in a row in Hisuian Typhlosion and Skeledirge. I'm just now realizing that as I just finished The Indigo Disk. I'll probably clean up anything else I want to do in SV then I planned on going back to PLA to either finish th le post game or just start the game over with a different starter.
I predicted this pretty well idk how 💀 My logic was Hisui being Gen 4 Gen2 starter 2 gens before Gen 7 starter 3 gens after Gen 5 the gen after So I thought we’d get A Gen 4 A gen 9 💀 And a Gen 7
I don't think its anything as complex as that. It's actualyl a relatively simple reason those 3 were selected, because gen's 1, 3 and 6 were already off the table, both kalos' base starters, and regional megas would be a problem. gen 8 was off the table because regional GMax forms that left only 2, 4, 5 and 7. And with gen 5's likely remakes coming, that knocks 5 out.
Grass/fairy Fire/steel? Water/Dragon Technically not a perfect type triangle but could definitely work(if totodile actually is water/dragon I’m definitely picking it if not then I have no clue)
Your idea would actually work and it's kind of sad that we got a Fairy type starter already when we haven't gotten a dragon yet. That being said, i would prefer that Chikorita gets the Grass/Fairy treatment with better stats but other than that this is the perfect type combos we have yet to get for starters.
Two issues, fairy-fire isn't weak to steel, and Dragon-water would obsolete the base type triangle, which is the point of those three starter types picked. The reason no starter's bee dragon is hands one member a default superiority. Mega Zard and Sceptile not withstanding, because those were introduced literal decades after first introduction of the starters, not to mention the associated point of fanservice.
As mentioned, a dragon starter as is present a problem on its own. That's the reason base Charizard wasn't made dragon back in gen 1. It hands a single member of the trio default superiority.
I think that an interesting idea could be a fairy varient of one of the starters, where they have been used as mascots so much they have evolved to be more marketable
Those 3 make more sense snivy and Piplup where inspired based off french knight and napoleon and scorbunny is inspired by European football Also I was thinking of steel type would be great for snivy and ground type for would be for piplup and for scorbunny would get electric with its fire typing since bunny are quick creatures
Like with any recent starters, I need to see final evos and typings. I chose Totodile and Litten during their respective generations. Totodile was selected for 2 reasons. A. Least amount of weaknesses defensively B. I like Crocs/Gators visually. Litten was chosen cuz of my adoration for cats great or small. Plus I use mainly 👻, 🌑(dark), and 🧚♀️ types. I hope the type combos of these LZ-A starters will be fun. This is a long winded way to say I'm undecided. 🤣
Really wanted Snivy, and if not him then Chikorita, those two really deserve some love. But Turtwig is fine! I already know that I want to use Fennekin (assuming it'll be available in the wild) so it'll just be a toss up between the Water and Grass starters for me LOL. Great video!
I think it was a smart choice on GF's part not to go with Piplup, if this is the case. I will also say I'm a bit Biased to piplup, it was the first starter I ever picked. Two main reasons one being it was too obvious, it was a great way to discredit ''leakers' because most of their thoughts tend to be predictive guesswork, something the last year and change has showed to be the case. And the second being they already have limited starter slots to pick from, if they went piplup, it would knock Twig out of consideration, leaving chiko, Serp (already a low hanging fruit that goes hand in hand with the first reason), Chesnaught (a base kalos starter) Deci, who already got a variant, Rilla, and two grass starters who already have megas. Realistically, there were only 3 picks, Twig, Snivy, Chiko. It gives the a lot more flexibility
I believe the starters of LZA would be the natural starters of Kalos. The reason is that unlike Hisui, which was a newly found region with only a few people getting control over Pokemon, Kalos is getting developed after the destruction caused by the ultimate weapon which indicates that 1. A lot of new Pokemon, primarily inhabitants to Kalos would get a Mega From (including the starters) 2. The starters would all remain the same as they won't change the tradition because of some development in the cityscape.
Would be pretty cool if turtwig’s regional variant was grass/dragon and going the design route of the tarasque, but then again that might be a little too OP outside of a mega.
I think torterra could be grass/fairy with references to cherry blossoms. Totodile could be water/electric to symbolize godzilla, and incineroar fire/steel. I know the last one doesnt make much sense, but it ties into the point about france and steel, and it keeps the type triangle intact.
Litten. Dark and Fire are some of my favourite types, cats are some of my favourite animals, and Incineroar is a *beast* that I am absolutely in love with. I hope it’s still a battle machine, but it would be really funny to see a calm Incineroar.
I know most were hoping for that, but I think that's the common community repeated mantra speaking. Every since ZA's been announced that's the line people have been repeating and hyping up, much like with Piplup. While it would make the most sense, it also would be the most obvious. And that's something Game Freak seems to want to steer away from. As a two fold means of one discrediting 'leakers' who have said that for months, as well as keep from just having the set of three starters from PLZA be from the same regions as PLA, Alola, Johto, Unova for PLA, two repeats here with Alola-Johto-Sinnoh.
I think that's the crux of the issue. A bit of wanting something to be true. I would love to see Snivy get something in the game, it's special to me for reasons that are hard to explain, but it was a friend of mine's favorite, and I won't go further. But there is a point of needing to separate hopes and wants for something, from what is the best evidence so far about it's outcomes. I hope we get something for Snivy, but there isn't much in its favor that aren't equally as attributable to others that didn't make it.
Considering how Kalos has a lot of norse mythology elements to their legendaries, it would be cool if Torterra became a Grass/Fairy with a smaller-scale yggdrasil tree of life, which also fits the theme of the World Turtle, a myth that also inspired Torterra itself
I'd like that, though it is worth noting, Yggdrasil is already the basis for Xerneas. It's possible, but I don't think they'd go the basis of one legendary reused for a starter.
The only reason those three starters are featured on the pack art is because the fun packs always include three random Pokemon, and those three happen to be in the set. Please fact-check before making a video like this and don't get your Pokemon news from Light
I saw this card pack months ago and nobody believed me that this had a high potential of being the starters. Something else I realized is all these starters are from the same gens as arceus
I think i, might’ve cooked (idk this is my first time doing this) but if GF were to give the starters new names, which i feel they should, they should go with: Torterneur: Grass/Steel (Last Knight Pokemon) Incinamaur: Fire/Fairy (Twisted Fortune Pokemon) Feralisqur: Water/Dragon (Fearsome Draco Pokemon) Torterneur came to me after hearing the time period of which Z-A would be taking place, mid to late 1800s. A time period when knights didn’t have much relevance anymore due to new technologies. Considering it’s massive bulk i imagined it proved very useful for protective support in war, causing its ground type to change into steel to better deal with the flurry of attacks and be a better shield, after better tech was made they had no more use as there was just better methods, causing most to pass of old age or wander off, leaving few Torterneurs left, its name also derives from Seignuer, meaning Lord, which seems to be a higher tier knight. Incinamaur was the hardest one to come up with, its a mix of Madagot and Egyptian Mau, Mau meaning “Sun” and Madagot being a magic being that takes the form of a sphinx cat, they’re usually evil unless you let them eat and drink first at a meal. I imagine Incinamaurs being both the protectors and troublemakers to the less fortunate that happen to run into their natural rival, Feralisqur’s wrath, as they’re both highly territorial and aggressive. Finally Feralisqur, it’s based on a mythical beast known as “Tarasque” that’s a hybrid of mutiple land animals and reptiles. I like to imagine Feralisqur becomes a very, very hard to control Pokemon in its final evolution, that only the most fearless warriors or trainers can tame, with a very capable adversary as a reward. Please anyone, read this, this took a bit of time lol😅
We've got a project on this in the works. But a hypothetical mega incin would actually be a complete joke. It wouldn't have any of the things that actually make incin good, namely no held item.
Personally, I'm thinking that this theory isnt going to hold water (i wouldnt mind it) simply because two of the three starters share a generation with the legends arceus starters(totodile and cyndaquil = johto, litten and rowlet = alola respectively). If they were going to go that route they may as well make snivy the grass option.
We've got somethign in the works on why there are only actually 4 regions to pick starters from in this case. there's a lot of things that automatically knock out 5 other gens, most of those being the same reasons the PLA starters were picked.
I agree with another video prediction of going back to French roots as Lumiose City is in Paris. They predicted Scorbunny, Piplup, and Snivy. They been inspired by something that represents France; Soccer, Napoleon, and European Royalty.
Theres two issues with scorbunny and snivy, which we're going into in another video. there's actually 15 starters that can never get regional variants, and as such, never be starters for a legends game.
I'm torn between Toto and Terry D: I want them both. I agree with you that the typings may come out like one of those combinations, they seem the most logical, but honestly I'm hoping for something like Grass/Fairy, Fire/Steel, and Water/Ground. I know I'm taking this a step farther with this one too, but I can't help but think that if they are starting a pattern, the types of these starters COULD be a hint at what types the starters from gen 10 are going have, even if mixed up a little
Be pretty neat to see grass/steel, fire/fairy, and water/fighting for the starters. Fire/fairy would also be a unique combination and if it is a regional variant of Incineroar, that doesn't mean it can't be a shorter. It also means each starter given the individual types make for an interesting dynamic where the primary type matchup still applies normally, but the secondary types act in reverse to the primary type (except torterra on incineroar, because fire resists steel and it would be a neutrality, but that's beside the point) I'm honestly suprised they haven't done something like this yet, and I hope they do it for ZA
With Litten I kinda want to see a play on The Pink Panther. The Pink Panther is a movie about a phantom thief in France with the name of Charles Litten who is trying to steal a gem called the Pink Panther. For Incineroar’s typing I’m thinking Fire/Fairy with an emphasis on a phantom thief build of stealing and trickery instead of brute strength.
How do we know that the Final Evos of the Starters will even the be the same? Gen 9 introduced the concept of Split Evolutions based on Regional Variants. Technically, Pokemon Company never said when Z-A would release other than it would be in 2025. It's also possible that the cards are being released to stoke the flames of the hype, and not have anything to do with the release date of Z-A.
Treeco was my first ever pokémon and I have picked every grass starter since. Looking at these options, Z-A is definitely not breaking that pattern, lmao
Im hoping they go with a different type chart for the starters Electric, Fighting/Ice, and Poison/Rock is a perfect lineup for weaknesses and advantages and would be a neat switch up
So we alredd know what the 3rd games starter r going 2 b since they just showed us 2nd gen 4th and 7th they rilly droped the ball sad day when u see the next 3 starter if this is right.
I just hope they let us have our Pokémon follow us around like in Scarlet and Violet. I was so disappointed when I found out they don’t do that in Legends Arceus
I'm really happy because I was wanting Litten to be a starter, but I was expecting Litten, Totodile, and Snivy. I did not expect Turtwig, and all I can say is they did Snivy dirty. Litten and Rowlet are Gen 7, and Totodile and Cyndaquil are Gen 2. One would expect for them to finish the trio and go with a Gen 5 starter, but apparently not. A part of me is hoping there was an error, and they put Turtwig instead of Snivy by accident. Which is strange because I like Torterra way more than Serperior, but I still would rather complete the trio and make it whole.
I think that's a part of why people seem to be resistant to the idea of it being Turtwig, because we like patterns, and we don't like when they aren't fulfilled. But it was likely a relatively simple decision to go with it. Snivy was both a too obvious pick, and in the grand scheme of things, gen 1 and 3 starters (since regional mega problems), as well as gen 6 were already off the table. Gen 8 and 9 were likely too recent to warrant consideration. by picking a gen 2 starter, that knocked that out, and picking a gen 7 knocked that out, not to mention PLA already used the ROUND boi. Leaving only gen 4 and 5. The same broadly holds for the other 2 starters, as well as marketability since pokemon makes a LOT of money off merch. Chikorita isn't nearly as popular as Turtwig or totodile. There's also the possibility of Unova remakes, which could be why they didn't do another Unova mon so soon, since it will be back shortly anyways.
I'm thinking grass steel water fairy and fire fighting French lore has the Tarasque. It's a dragon beast creature that has a lion head a turtle body and a serpent tail. Which would be all three of these starts put together, probably where the inspection came from
Totodile is a monster of a Pokemon in the series and is one of my favorite starters due its good move pool around it, if these are the starters for Z-A. My pick is Totodile for Z-A. Cyndaquil was my starter in Legends Arceus.
I'm a simple man. I see Totodile as a starter option, I pick him
Unfathomable based.
Chad discovered, friendship established.
Same, My first ever Starter on Pokemon Crystal 😅 have always been my favorite ever since
Totodile was one of my earlier favorite starters. I never got any pokemon handle games until X&Y came out, but seeing Totodile, and having that chance I'm excited!! I loved Totodile in the anime so much it was dumb(then they gave me Treecko.. and that became my favorite starter ever.)
Yes!!!!

I don’t think recency is a problem because rowlet was a legends arceus starter one gen after it was introduced
A very good point, though it is worth noting all of the Legends Arceus starters were starters with some element of japanese specific relation to them.
But keep in mind rowlet was introduced at the start of of gen 7 so like 2016, and legends arceus came out at the end of gen 8, which was 2022. So it wasn’t that recent

Hadn't thought of that, now that'd be interesting. Incineroar with a sword.
Equally amusing, and horrifying.
@spiderlord19b You are definitely on to something....
I just hope they adjust its design a bit.

So Fire/Steel type?
If this is accurate, well...
I could see these being the final form.
Feraligatr: Water/Fighting. Look at the muscles.
Inceneroar: Fire/Fairy. Theres a french legend about Fey Cats. Also, Puss in boots.
Torterra: Grass/Steel. Because it completes the Type-effectiveness Circle.
Fire>Grass>Water
Fairy

Totodile would probably be mine but yea can change based on final evolution
i don't like seeing the final evo's because it ruins it the surprise you get of evolving a normal starter that then turns into a completely different thing also it makes it way easier to decide as if you saw the final evo but like another starter before you saw a final evo you would just pick a starter that you don't really like.
Wolfe Glick shitting his pants at the prospect of a Mega Incineroar
@@tpfoxCastro they just grabbed 3 random starters one of each type, riiiiiiggt.
Totodile pleasee
@@lianaverwood9810 Imagine having to fight an Empoleon conquering its way through Kalos, lol.
Hear me out:
Torterra - Grass / Steel
Inceneroar - Fire / Ground
Totodile - Water / Fighting
All of these are typing we haven't had for evolved starters yet (if I remember correctly)
Edit: I commented this while half way through the video
Man literally said all those lol.
And we've already had Water-Fighting, Quack Quack thing.
Amusingly, these are what I proposed as what I think are most likely.
But we have had a water fighting type, Quaquaval, But the others are free.
Water/dragon would be really cool too for totodile
The issue is that would destroy the starter type triangle.
Yeah, but, this is the Legends format
The devs seem to have more freedom to innovate & do some fun stuff
Your argument against Cinderace being the fire starter in ZA is kind of flawed. You say it's because we just recently got Cinderace in gen 8, but you forget that Legends Arceus had Decidueye as the grass starter and it was introduced in the gen prior to Arceus.
It's not just recency, there's one other larger part of is that I didn't include here be cause it's one, far more bullet proof, and more comprehensive in the exclusion.
Joe confirmed these himself, they are not leaks, they did the hisui starters once they had been revealed, they just do a trio of 3 popular mons

Except we already have a Godzilla-inspired ice-type Pokémon in Baxcalibur.
Fuck man I neeed
And we already have an Ice type move that causes burn.
Expected Snivy and Piplup, but the lineup isn't bad if this is true.
Of course I’d love a Kalosian Litten but I’ve gotta burst everyone’s bubble here. Save your excitement for Japanese leaks of the set after Battle Partners at the soonest.
Totodile isn't my favorite starter, but it is a water-type, so I'm contempleting picking that one, if this is the starters we get.
I can see Turtwig getting Grass/Steel evo, Litten getting Fire/Electric or Fire/Ground evo and Totodile having Water/Fighting or Water/Rock evo
I could see this, especially since they would be 4x weak to each other lol

something i thought was interesting was that i saw a theory that incineroar could be a circus cat, or like a cat version of the man who gets shot out of a cannon in performances.
If we look to history, the eiffel tower was built for the paris universal exposition. The illumis tower could be in its building phase in the game, so we could see many people coming from other regions. This would give the opportunity to get starters from other regions as an exotic curiosity
A STRANGE THING TO NOTE:
Both cyndaquil and totodile are from gen 2
Both Rowlet and Litten are from gen 7
And yet Oshawott (5) And Turtwig (4) Are distinct.
Guys i really think they like gen 2 and 7
Less they like gen 2 and 7 and more because other factors we'll be covering in a later video, it excludes about 5 gens.
@@metamaxis Fair, Gen 2 is honestly one of the gens that need more attention
The gen 2 attention is definitely because they recognise the need to buff the gen 2 starters
The gen 7 attention though is probably because those are the third members they keep having their “best” ideas for.
They cooked with the Hisui trio, archer/swordsman/shaman, let’s hope they’re cooking with the Lumiose trio
A regional variant wouldn't buff the gen 2 starters, it's introducing a new pokemon, not a gen 2 pokemon.
Its a nonexistant combo for starters because it on its own obsoletes the type triangle.
We already have Dark paired with every primary Starter type. No more please 😭🙏
Interesting. At least in current form, these three are all more physical based Pokémon.
Massive unpopular opinion:
But I really would like some official effort to give Chikortia another chance to shine.
The water to be weak to all the grass types
The fire weak to all the water types
The grass weak to all the fire types.
It's not so much an internal triangle thing, but external as well.
This isnt an actual leak, fun packs will normally have three starters on that pack, as they are in the set.
Well, the world tree is already Xerneas. But I love the thinking
Zygarde 50% is Jormundgandr. Totodile could reference the Jotuns and a new legendary for the missing part of Yggdrasill, Niddhogr. Personal I think that legendary would be an ice poison type with the levitate ability as the counter to the Aura Trio
Issue is that Thousand arrows bypasses levitate.
@@metamaxis exactly. Zygarde developed thousand arrows because of this new legendary. Lore wise at least
I could see a fire/fairy Incineroar leaning into a ballet dancer esthetic
I dobt this will happen for this game, but personally I want to see the sub types just rotate around the starter wheel, with the starters ending up as fire water, grass fire, and water grass.
1. I could see todidile ending up based off a moss covered swamp gator
2. Turtwig being a marsh that was set on fire, or said tank idea but it is fire type for the explosives
3. I have no idea what litten would be. Steam feels like a copout because of volcanion, but I like the idea of a cat cozying up with some hot tea in a french cafe
The issue is a sub type system like that would completely go against the reason the type triangle exists
It’s gonna be fire fairy, grass steel, and water dragon
The issue with that is twofold, Fairy-fire isn't weak to steel, and Water dragon isn't weak to grass, thus completely obsoleting the point of the starter type trio in the first place.
Turtwig was my first ever starter pokemon. I’m so exited to bring my oldest partner on another adventure with me. I’ll have to do another playthrough with totodile though cause I love the Pokémon so much.
Oh, I'm going with Totodile, for sure. Turtwig has me intrigued, but it's not even a close second.
Same
I thought this one was gonna be hard since Turtwig is my go-to starter for Sinnoh and Litten is my go-to starter for Alola, but Totodile not only being my go-to starter for Johto but also being my all-time favorite starter... My jaw dropped when the water-type for ZA was (hopefully) announced. I really hope this turns out to be official.😭
Torterra=grass/dragon
Incineroar=fire/fairy
Feraligtr = water/electric
But only 2 resistances and walled by Steel.
7:50 correction, paldea has a dark starter, Meowscarada
I said there's a dark starter been introduced every gen other than Galar since Gen 6. that includes Meowscrada
@@metamaxis you said "except for Paldea" as well

Great but I'm guessing snivy, scorbunny and piplup
That is what a lot were thinking, largely because the influence of 'leakers' going for the most obvious ones, and people repeating that over the last six months. To the degree its become an almost accepted fact.
but logically, why would they have two Pokémon based on different French rulers, and then sports.
@@metamaxis you're right. I like snivy and piplup. scorbunny is the obvious fire starter 2nd is Litten. But I'm not gonna be surprised if all of them are not. Whatever it is make sure one of the jhoto, unova and sinnoh.
@@metamaxis You make a good point but this is the Pokémon universe. Logic is rarely important in decisions.
for torterra I think we might see something like part fire ghost ice or fairy
think about it. the main focal point of torterra is the ecosystem on its back. sure grass/steel rock ground makes sense on its current design and colors but that doesn't mean that's what they will make its regional form into.
I predicted this pretty well idk how 💀
My logic was
Hisui being Gen 4
Gen2 starter 2 gens before
Gen 7 starter 3 gens after
Gen 5 the gen after
So I thought we’d get
A Gen 4
A gen 9 💀
And a Gen 7
I don't think its anything as complex as that.
It's actualyl a relatively simple reason those 3 were selected, because gen's 1, 3 and 6 were already off the table, both kalos' base starters, and regional megas would be a problem. gen 8 was off the table because regional GMax forms
that left only 2, 4, 5 and 7. And with gen 5's likely remakes coming, that knocks 5 out.
I always choose the grass type starter because its my favorite type.
Grass/fairy
Fire/steel?
Water/Dragon
Technically not a perfect type triangle but could definitely work(if totodile actually is water/dragon I’m definitely picking it if not then I have no clue)
I believe it's Scorbunny, Snivy, Totodile, or Empoleon.
I hope so cuz these picks in video I hate with a burning passion
I’d be fine if totodile gets in
Those 3 make more sense snivy and Piplup where inspired based off french knight and napoleon and scorbunny is inspired by European football
Also I was thinking of steel type would be great for snivy and ground type for would be for piplup and for scorbunny would get electric with its fire typing since bunny are quick creatures
@@animefangirlj6073 scorbunny is a issue due to gmax problems but piplup and empoleon are too obvious

This is fake. The pack art shown was on a pack of the Temporal Forces set and that pack art is nowhere to be found in the pool of official pack arts.
my glourious king turtwig who cluthed me up against cythia
Like with any recent starters, I need to see final evos and typings. I chose Totodile and Litten during their respective generations. Totodile was selected for 2 reasons. A. Least amount of weaknesses defensively B. I like Crocs/Gators visually. Litten was chosen cuz of my adoration for cats great or small. Plus I use mainly 👻, 🌑(dark), and 🧚♀️ types. I hope the type combos of these LZ-A starters will be fun. This is a long winded way to say I'm undecided. 🤣
was psyched about litten, then you said totodile and I screamed, I can't wait! my first ever starter, I love that little guy.
3:37 why is destroya here

Really wanted Snivy, and if not him then Chikorita, those two really deserve some love. But Turtwig is fine! I already know that I want to use Fennekin (assuming it'll be available in the wild) so it'll just be a toss up between the Water and Grass starters for me LOL. Great video!
Many thanks. We tend to do move videos on our second channel, and generally more in depth on those topics, but I'm glad you liked this!
I’m kinda sad that there’s no piplup, I’m hoping totodile is fake, or atleast piplup can be obtained somewhere in the wild.
Piplup, Snivy, Litten, or Scorbunny work for me...
I believe the starters of LZA would be the natural starters of Kalos. The reason is that unlike Hisui, which was a newly found region with only a few people getting control over Pokemon, Kalos is getting developed after the destruction caused by the ultimate weapon which indicates that
1. A lot of new Pokemon, primarily inhabitants to Kalos would get a Mega From (including the starters)
2. The starters would all remain the same as they won't change the tradition because of some development in the cityscape.
if it's my boy totodile water type all the way
Would be pretty cool if turtwig’s regional variant was grass/dragon and going the design route of the tarasque, but then again that might be a little too OP outside of a mega.
I want Snivy, Popplio, Chimchar
I think torterra could be grass/fairy with references to cherry blossoms. Totodile could be water/electric to symbolize godzilla, and incineroar fire/steel. I know the last one doesnt make much sense, but it ties into the point about france and steel, and it keeps the type triangle intact.
We need a treeko starter
I think that's unlikely at least for the issue of potentially introducing a regional mega variant.
@metamaxis no I say it can fit with the it starting with the letter "T" they all start with a T
Litten doesn't start with a T though?
Litten. Dark and Fire are some of my favourite types, cats are some of my favourite animals, and Incineroar is a *beast* that I am absolutely in love with. I hope it’s still a battle machine, but it would be really funny to see a calm Incineroar.
I rather think snivy could be one of the starters than turwig
I know most were hoping for that, but I think that's the common community repeated mantra speaking. Every since ZA's been announced that's the line people have been repeating and hyping up, much like with Piplup. While it would make the most sense, it also would be the most obvious.
And that's something Game Freak seems to want to steer away from. As a two fold means of one discrediting 'leakers' who have said that for months, as well as keep from just having the set of three starters from PLZA be from the same regions as PLA, Alola, Johto, Unova for PLA, two repeats here with Alola-Johto-Sinnoh.
Sounds like Riddler Cluless talking more than anything.
Him and centro really harping on that copium.
But I think snivy deserves to be in legends za
Trust me, snivy will make a comeback
I think that's the crux of the issue. A bit of wanting something to be true. I would love to see Snivy get something in the game, it's special to me for reasons that are hard to explain, but it was a friend of mine's favorite, and I won't go further.
But there is a point of needing to separate hopes and wants for something, from what is the best evidence so far about it's outcomes.
I hope we get something for Snivy, but there isn't much in its favor that aren't equally as attributable to others that didn't make it.
This is not news this is some guy who wanted to post a video about his speculations
im taking totodile BUT im useing home to get all 3 >:)
Tododile w
I think i, might’ve cooked (idk this is my first time doing this) but if GF were to give the starters new names, which i feel they should, they should go with:
Torterneur: Grass/Steel (Last Knight Pokemon)
Incinamaur: Fire/Fairy (Twisted Fortune Pokemon)
Feralisqur: Water/Dragon (Fearsome Draco Pokemon)
Torterneur came to me after hearing the time period of which Z-A would be taking place, mid to late 1800s.
Part of me is hoping this doesn't mean these are the starters. At least, I don't want Litten as a starter
I’m terrified of the possibility of mega Incinereroar 😰
Seeing Litten makes me hope they do something like they did with Galarian Meowth where it has a whole new evolution rather than just a regional form.
TOTODILE LETS GO!!!!!
No thoughts, head empty.
Only chomp.
Totodile squad
I'm torn between Toto and Terry D: I want them both.
I agree with you that the typings may come out like one of those combinations, they seem the most logical, but honestly I'm hoping for something like Grass/Fairy, Fire/Steel, and Water/Ground.
I know I'm taking this a step farther with this one too, but I can't help but think that if they are starting a pattern, the types of these starters COULD be a hint at what types the starters from gen 10 are going have, even if mixed up a little
1:54 nah ground
Torterra is already a ground type
Brother he is already ground
@@questionableclips215 I know but still
@@Mario-s5z3o really?
fym 'but still' theyre not doing the same thing twice😭🙏
Be pretty neat to see grass/steel, fire/fairy, and water/fighting for the starters. Fire/fairy would also be a unique combination and if it is a regional variant of Incineroar, that doesn't mean it can't be a shorter. It also means each starter given the individual types make for an interesting dynamic where the primary type matchup still applies normally, but the secondary types act in reverse to the primary type (except torterra on incineroar, because fire resists steel and it would be a neutrality, but that's beside the point) I'm honestly suprised they haven't done something like this yet, and I hope they do it for ZA
I select… Chikorita, Litten, and Sobble.
It's also possible that the cards are being released to stoke the flames of the hype, and not have anything to do with the release date of Z-A.
i was really hoping for chimchar
I screamed when the water type wasn’t mudkip 😭😭😭
There's a slight issue with Mudkip ever getting a regional variant....
Treeco was my first ever pokémon and I have picked every grass starter since. Looking at these options, Z-A is definitely not breaking that pattern, lmao
THANK THE FCKN LORD i’ve been waiting for my boy totadile to come back 😭😭😭😭
Im hoping they go with a different type chart for the starters
Electric, Fighting/Ice, and Poison/Rock is a perfect lineup for weaknesses and advantages and would be a neat switch up
It'd be interesting, but the thing is they like preserving the triangle. And those other types interfere with that.
I'm thinking grass steel water fairy and fire fighting
French lore has the Tarasque. It's a dragon beast creature that has a lion head a turtle body and a serpent tail. Which would be all three of these starts put together, probably where the inspection came from
As a Gentwoer, I’m both contractually and willingly obligated to pick Totodile.
Totodile is a monster of a Pokemon in the series and is one of my favorite starters due its good move pool around it, if these are the starters for Z-A. My pick is Totodile for Z-A. Cyndaquil was my starter in Legends Arceus.
I still believe the starters in PLZ-A will be from the Starters who still does not have 7 star Mighty Raid yet in Scarlet and Violet.
