As a Filipino, I love Singapore. I travel there every 2-3 years for vacation because there is always something new everytime I go back. And I don’t know what they mean about Singapore not being Asian enough when in fact, it’s a melting pot of different Asian cultures. I can go to one hawker centre and feel like I’ve traveled to four different Asian countries in one lunch hour. Don’t sweat it, Singapore - you’re beautiful as you are.

Yeah as a Malaysian I make fun of Singaporeans (it’s a national pastime for us) but hate? Nah. Malaysians cross the causeway every single day to earn money in Singapore, and we are similar (minus the food. Don’t start claiming unless it’s chili crab, that’s the one we Malaysians don’t claim).

You're definition of not rich is perhaps you can't travel to Europe or Japan twice a year or get that latest Iphone 16 this year while you're using last year's. Other SEA country definition of not rich is literally will starve to death on the streets with no roof over their heads. Singapore needs to be LOUD because we are so small. We need to SHOUT because we need to get the world’s attention. That’s how our pioneer leaders build the nation to what it is today. We are a miracle because we are so small we should not even exist as a country. No SEA country came to our help when we needed help most so why should we give a damn about what they think of us now? Also don’t be so naive to think that our closest neighbours are our friends. Even Thailand doesn’t issue long term visa to Singaporeans.
There are hundreds of thousands of tourists every year visiting Singapore and you guys get bothered by a few so called influencers who don’t like us?

I just visited Singapore, back only today. It was a wonderful experience. It's super clean, functional and aesthetic. A lot of Asian cities can learn from how it's managed. The weather can get pretty warm and humid, but all the malls and MRT and pretty much almost every other building is air conditioned for you to get a respite from the heat. There was only one rude cabbie. Otherwise, I found all Singaporeans to be very polite. There is no doubt that Singapore is relatively expensive. So if you want to have a good time there, I suggest you stop converting SGDs to your local currency. You'll have a much better time. :) Love from India.

Personally, I think for those tourist who commented "bad" about Singapore, I take it as an compliment. The reason being because they have very high expectations before coming here. So the slightest unpleasant incident, piss them off. It is just like customer expectations and experience. If you being known as the top, a bit of "slack" is big thing. If you are always know to be below par, a bit of improvement will create the WOW factors.

Maybe it's cause recently, SG paid Taylor Swift to not perform in any other Southeast Asian country when touring Asia, so a lot of profit went to SG in terms of tourism and stuff. Some criticism has already been brewing since SG developed amazing tourism facilities like Changi, Jewel, and Sentosa and became one of the more advanced countries in SEA and even the world... So maybe this recent incident acted as a catalyst to bolder and more widespread hatred towards SG? Competition is in the blood of Asians, and to me, this is just ASEAN giving its competitor a major side-eye lmao

On one hand Singapore stands out from the rest of ASEAN but if one actually goes to Singapore and read about its history, it isnt much different from its neighbors. Its not like the country was always "westernized" and it isnt anymore western than Tokyo or Seoul.
Although the country is small, you can find a slice of the rest of SEA within it. Being an exchange student and having limited knowledge about the country made my trip more fun since I mostly explored by myself. I remember walking into the Burmese enclave within a mall and being completely surprised that it exists there. And also the small pockets of Vietnamese businesses and Filipino ones. Also the golden mile complex too; im happy to have gone in there before it closed down.

I would say when one society lack of order and corrupted one , its unwise to be given a democrazy
When i facing two choice about which a leader that i want , a leader that rules with iron fist but shows tough love because he deeply cares and the leader is clean , uncorrupt , strict , smart and visionary or the second type , the leader that doesn't way too strict , smart or visionary but corrupt and giving a guarantee of wide democrazy
And i choose the leader with a tough love with qualitative dictatorship over the mediocre but the weak ass democrazy
Personally i like the model of successful dictatorship / successful authoritarianism approach (( like Singapore does )) ,
Because this approach is like a leader with strict tiger parent approach that educating the rational mind of its people , because if want to creating a successful country with sucessful society it requires both smart leader and smartly educated people , cuz if not , things won't go balanced

I care that our fellow Singaporeans don't know how much sacrifice every one of us has to bite through so that our children live happier lives in Singapore. Back in the 1940s, our neighbours opened up their legs (borders) for the Japanese imperial army to march through them. If they had even resisted the invaders like us, perhaps their founding leaders would be as wise as Lee Kuan Yew. Also, we don't have resources, as compared to our Neighbours, and instead of working harder like us, our Neighbours choose to vote for a Govt that gives them the most welfare (Bumiputera policy) and fuel subsidies.

Malaysian here! This video damn funny but I think the rest of SEA are just jealous of SG la hahaha. Honestly Singaporeans should be proud that they're a developed nation! Spread love and support one another la SEA, why so much animosity 😂😂

These comments have been going on for the last 50 years. Many forgotten that we have helped them develop economically and politically. If you question the facts here, just find out how many industries aznd companies we have invested in in your countries. Are you sure you want to bite tje hands that feeds you.

Opinions are like a...holes, sorry, I mean aortas. Everyone has one. Some are clean and some dirty, like all things in the world, take what is good and throw away the bad. Listen only to those who can express their cogent arguments with logical conclusions, articulated and conveyed with eloquence and elegance, both in style and in diction.

You have to revisit a question asked by Minister Mentor Lee Kuaw Yew. He once asked a western journalist why is he so very extremely interested in Singapore. Is it because Singapore is very successful? There are tons of small countries around the world but why aren't them getting all the attention. Brother YEOLO, I have to speak the truth and it is ugly. I hope your heart can take it. Singapore is hated and gather many negative remark simply because Singapore is doing better than many other countries. Who says Singapore is allow to do better than other countries? Who give Singaporeans the right to live more comfortably than other? When other countries citizen cannot catch up, they will dedicate their entire live to the destruction of Singapore. This is just human nature. I am living beside you. You live better than me. My psychology will travel in this direction : ---> From: (a) I like Singapore to (b) I am happy for Singapore to (c) I envy Singapore and is proud of Singapore as my neighbour to (d) I envy Singapore to (e) I am jealous of Singapore to finally (f) I HATE SINGAPORE because I don't have what they have. These psychological movement of neighbouring countries citizen from point (a) to point (f) reflect the natural human psychology and instinct that echo the teaching of old Chinese saying that " NO HUMAN BEING LIKES TO SEE ANOTHER HUMAN BEING LIVE BETTER THAN HIM . " Such is the natural state of the Human Species. There is nothing we can do because we are fighting against human nature. The day Singapore stop becoming better and drop to the same level as SEA and other countries, oh trust me, they will love Singapore. Human Being are very ugly. Accept it.

We really need …to listen to listen to listen…and see how we can come together as ASEAN.
    WHY? Because :
    1. Pacific NATO may happen faster than you think
    2. Being crushed between China (and BRICS+) and USA ( U.K. Europe and Down Under + NZ)
    3. We have more in common as ordinary people than divisive forces would like us to believe
    4. Together we can progress faster

Let us reflect on our behaviour when we are overseas. It is really insensitive to those common folks working hard and still struggle to made ends meet when we gi "cheeping" around. And those ugly and uncouth behavior, its crazy to shake and rock our cars to pump another litre of petrol!
Having said that, have the geopolitical awareness that we are perceived to be the "smart rich" b***h on the block, and understand why we need a strong military, advance technology and a united people to act as a deterrent to those harbouring bad intentions.
