- We discussing the new special edition Nintendo Switch Lite - Hyrule Edition. Pretty out of the blue announcement, given the time for the Switch family, or is it? We take a look at Nintendo's current dilemma to uncover the reason why we are getting another special edition for the Switch, the Switch Lite in particular.

Keep this bad boy sealed until a couple years later and you'll be making a fortune. 3DS Hyrule Edition going for over 2k (sealed) where I live.
@@MuxMaxmou Exactly!! That’s what I’m saying!! This is not just another switch, it’s a true collectors item. People don’t realize the importance of items like this and how much of an investment that are. I’m almost tempted to buy 2 tbh so I can have one as a display on my shelves lol
It is. Of course, Nintendo obviously profits from this, too. Don’t forget that you are limited 1 console per person. You’ll have to fiddle around to buy more.

Honestly, the OLED and the Lite models are the best entires. Switch 2 should take notes and be offered in just those tiers...

only in march 2025 and they could also push it later. im not surprised they do this considering nintendo seems to try make money alot with all the old remakes and using zelda to make a limited edition like they did with the regular switch. some buy everything zelda and it will sell again even if i think the lite is the switch for the poor and is not that great really.
I didn't know the original Lite was released with Link's Awakening, but it is a good combo with the special system / related game title releasing close - what I was thinking of was Zelda: Tears and that "SE" Oled. Something that also came to mind was the simultaneous release of the PS2 slim (PSTwo) just prior to GTA San Andreas back in 2004 when maybe people had waited to get the system or wanted a backup.

Why pre order this? There will be like 100 of these in each store. Just buy it on release day. Just like the animal crossing bundle one, plenty on shelves. Nintendo will be selling these as long as they still have stock. They are just trying to get ride of old stock and keep the sales going. As someone who used to collect stuff. It all just collects dust eventually, expecially if it is something that isn't worth much. My stuff that is worth a lot is stuff that I bought without the intent to collect but because I liked it.
@@DiremagicSo basically waste of money. No need of collecting something that is mass produced and easy to obtained. People did that with the animal crossing V2 switch thinking it was some limited edition now there are thousands of them in the wild. Not really that collectable.

I have a Switch V1 but decided to buy a switch lite last week for about 97 USD and do not regret it. It feels much better to grip imo and find my self picking it up more than my V1 since I don't use docked a whole bunch. The Hyrule edition lite is very expensive here in Australia so I decided to get a normal lite.
I preordered it and the switch lite hyrule edition and plus it also comes with 12 months for switch online plus expansion pack

I only have one Switch Lite (and a couple of regular and Oled Switches), so I jumped on the pre-order for this one. I love to play the lite on the go, and this pretty edition will be my back-up unit, should my original one break in the future. I'm thinking ahead because I have many games and will be playing them for many years to come. If your unit breaks in a few years, it's smart to have a back-up because they will be very expensive to replace in a few years.

I'll be buying this console. I'm 33, and I have not purchased my own switch, but have been feeling the nostalgia for my old gameboy advance. I shopped around for the OLED model a year ago, but it was too big and clunky for me, and I had no interest in the dock feature. I'm planning to purchase the lite with the zelda game release and am planning to download a bunch of my old favorite gameboy games (like golden sun, and pokemon). I don't care if new games will be released for the next console, because for me, this is going to be a nostalgia device for me to play at my leisure and have in my purse. I think this is what Nintendo might be aiming for, a very specific target audience to reduce the stock of their switch lites before the new console release.

I like the lite for the portability and at least for me, it feels better as a handheld than my oled. So the oled stays connected to the T.V. and the Lite goes wherever I go. I am getting the Hyrule edition, too because it's uh well Zelda :)

As a collector yes it’s a must have, I already own every Zelda edition console released so far.
I'll get the switch lite, and put taki udon's oled mod in it.

16. Twitter rebranded to X.
17. SML got sued by Nintendo.
18. Windows 11 released.
19. Skibidi Toilet.
20. Lego and Fortnite Collab.
21. There has been 11 generations of iPhones.
22. Technoblade Died.
As someone who hasn't owned a switch yet I'm tempted to buy a lite. I am planning on saving up for the switch 2 but I really want to play these games now.
Nintendo hasn't given out the information for Switch 2 yet and the price will go up when released so it's still good to buy the Switch Lite Hyrule edition. I own an Oled Mario edition but will definitely buy the Switch Lite Hyrule if I don't have to save up the money for my video editing course.
A switch lite would still be a good buy imo because even if you get a switch 2, the Switch Lite is better for traveling and isn't as heavy (assuming switch 2 will be bigger than og switch.)

I pre-ordered one. 😊 I‘ve got a Switch oled which I hardly ever use in handheld-mode, because it is just too big and uncomfortable to hold.
Although the Switch 2 may come soon, I presume it will take another 1-2 years until we‘ll get a smaller handheld version of it.
I‘m a collector and a player so I‘ll keep it as a spare for my old Pokemon edition which has seen some wear and tear. But I don‘t intend to sell it for a profit. For that purpose I bought some of Nintendo‘s shares in the stock market. 😎
I agree that the oled is not comfortable as a handheld. The Lite feels much better in the hands! I pre-ordered the Hyrule edition and love the feel and gameplay of the Lite that I've had for years.
PS2 ran for 12 years. Not sure why most content creators focus on seven years with the switch. Personally, think if they reduce the price, they'll get the lead

OLED on these guys is a great idea! Might be too late for them to implement that, with them working on the new console though.
Putting an OLED on this will increase the retail price of it. It will increase by at least $50

The hyrule edition was really tempting since i love the Zelda franchise, but since it doesnt come with the game and its two hundred bucks i decided to buy the Aloha edition for 159 which comes with a game at least. With that saved money ill get the new zelda game when it releases.

What you guys think would be the resell value for this console ? I feel as if the switch especially switch lite has been on a decline for demand. So would this collectors switch even be worth much after release ?
Well the 3ds consoles have skyrocketed in resell value in recent months. Especially the limited editions! The games too! So perhaps years down the road there will be a collector willing to pay top dollar for an unopened Hyrule switch lite. We also don't know how many are being manufactured or how rare they will be. I guess time will tell.
Why are we getting a Nintendo Switch special edition? Because we always get special editions of systems. That's why. There's no secret reasoning behind it. It is just something that always happens. I'm getting one even though I already have the Switch and the Oled. I've been wanting a Switch lite since day one but couldn't decide on the color until now.

I use a modded 3DS my brother has a switch but I never invested in it myself. Kinda annoyed the did away with virtual console and moved to a subscription service. I’m waiting for this new successor console, I hope it’s a new platform versus an evolution of the switch design. I find the switch aesthetically as a console very unappealing
Only way i would get a switch lite if they made an oled version with stretched oled screen with better battery life. Right now im enjoying my regular oled that share with bro.

Because they sell well. Also games run better on the Lite. Less judder and it looks better on the smaller screen. I compared side by side and like the Lite better. Sound is not as good but I use earbuds.

The switch and switch lite SHOULD be replacing the 3ds. The new console will be docked only.
The Switch 2 will be backward compatible. Otherwise, they wouldn't keep releasing new games
Ngl it’s coming out on my birthday So I said fuck it imma jus buy it😭 yes ive already have a switch since 2017 but honestly it’s not as portable as id like. (I don’t play Zelda that much but once I get the switch I’ll be sure to get botw) (played a bit of it and had fun but idk if I’d like a top down game) honestly i just really like the color and I’ve been meaning to get into Zelda so rn and I think it’d just be nice to have a more portable system (plus it’s battery is probably better than my 7 year old switch that I never really take out the dock unless I can bring a carrying case) plus all my right joycons are funky and don’t like handheld mode(Idfk why) so maybe a lite would be better for that too
The color on this one is great! I will say the battery on Switch Lites are noticeably shorter than the OG Switch, so I would recommended having a power bank, or having the charger with you. Zelda is a great series! Hope it works out for you.

I love lite switch is like PSP but better 😄 it's way comfier than normal switch, I wish they allow the tv cast tho - not necessarily as attached to stand but just mirror the image, and more memory - if would have those I would pay as for normal switch just to have smaller frame with same functionalities (even if still less powerful)

switch lite is bad and having a special hyrule edition doesnt make it better. you can play your orignal switch on handheld mode so i never understood why buy this lite version which cant be played on a big tv and has joy con issues.
Cause it’s cheaper, way more comfortable in hand to play. The people that buy it don’t want to play it on the tv. Simple really
@@jaeaugustiine its really not much cheaper and the lite has a smaller screen and the joycon are non detachable. i really think its a waste to get a lite instead of an oled or a regular switch. you can use a controller which makes it like a steam deck and its way more comfortable that a switch lite.
@@maniaque37 why would u need detachable joycons when you only want to play handheld in the first place. Oled is a whole 150 dolllars more a lot of people can’t afford it or would rather spend that 150 on actual games. It’s a perfect handheld. Oled is amazing too but I have both and enjoy playing on the lite for longer periods of time just cause it’s more comfortable.

@@rass302 my opinion is different. you can have a regular switch and use it also as a handheld and the screen is better and you can remove the controllers which is much much better. there are some controllers you can use that make it look like a steam deck. you also can use the regular switch on a tv. switch lite is for those who dont have money but its not as good.
