Me too, I just replaced my Makita worm drive that I used for 20 years (no damage to it) with the 36V rear handle saw. Every bit as good as my worm drive. So' I've gone full line of cordless Makita tools. 36V and 18V, same charger and batteries for both... brilliant!!
Hilti is the best but very expensive, I still using Makita because the can give you amazing quality in a reasonable price. Milwaukee is expensive but not same quality as Hilti. For the price of Makita you can buy 2/3 same product of Hilti... -> I'm going to keep working with Makita.
I've worked with all of those brands over the years. I would rank: 1H, 2Mak, 3Mil, Best ratio quality/price: Makita, Best Batteries: Hilti (couple of months in Van, wintertime , Temp fall till -5Celsius (Europe) still runs), Makita was empty in one week i the same conditions, (storage and use). Milwaukee, visible lost of quality and power compare to old stuff from Wisconsin, sadly
Dear Lachino, many thanks to you. We need your support to do more tests. In fact, we did another one on the batteries lately. After the water test, we put them in a plastic bag for 3 months!! Then we take it out. Only Hilti can be use after such extreme test. I am pretty amaze of the result as well. Come back and see more video from us!
I like milwaukee tools . m18 fuel has 5 years warranty. We burned 2 sawzalls and milwaukee gave me 2 new sawzalls . I m not sure about other countries but here in Minnesota I can bring an broken tool to the service center an get new one or fixed. we doing a lot off work I spend over $ 5k for my milwauker tools but it worth it .
Hilti can not be compared in capacity because they use a 20 volt platform compared to the milwaukee and makita 18 volt platform 18v X 5ah = 90wh 20v X 5.2ah = 104wh

I find milwaukee better and more robust than makita(I dropped makita brand because of failing batteries after 1 year) and Hilti tools are twice the price of the other 2 so yeah put hilti up against similar priced manufacturers!
Those tools have very different price, characteristics and batteries. HILTI is 22V vs 18V to begin with. It has 12 battery cells instead of 10. In my mind, Hilti uses 22V system instead of more common 18V to support their agressive "most powerful" marketing even power isn't that needed. Also all companies have different politics regarding battery volume. While Hilti or Bosch equips their tools with pricy top-notch batteries, Makita usually has cheaper accus with less A*h to make tools more affordable. PS русским привет :)
Great video and test but kinda unfair with different battery voltages. Hilti is on a different class. Rare to see them at a local lumberyard/hardware store. I see it as an commercial industrial tool where the rest are a more suited for the contractor and serious DIYer.
Holding a Hilti is like holding a brick. I don't care that the battery will die easier on my Makita, it's very lite and after a day of working on ceilings you are grateful for it.

Hey, nice test. Could you do a Makita battery test: 1.5; 3; 4; 5 (Ah) by screwing one type of screw or by drilling holes with one drill bit. So that you can answer how much time you can work on one and how much on the other battery. I am thinking about choosing a 3 or 4 Ah battery and paying extra for a 4Ah battery how much I would gain. What I find about Hilti is there Drill bits, grinding wheels and saw blades are superior to other manufacturers. So in your test did you use the same bits, grinding wheels and sawblades in all the units or each manufactures specific items?
Do not forget the new'ish Makita batteries also cut off the juice with quite still some left in them to protect the 18650 lithium cells in them, they also have a easier way in for water cause the super fast RC chargers blowing air to them. Me I think batters last a bit better too if running them in the older "slow chargers" which makes sense in this world and got exact same phenomena for my mobile phone if charging via Oppo quick charge or via slow USB cable (PC), not just once but do so for cycles, perhaps a week straight and difference is obvious. Want lots of time on a smaller drill like the DHP483 a 1850B still give you a very small and handy drill, like a 12v machine running on 18 but Hilti/Milwaukee batt at the bottom would ruin that even more. Point is they are small, but hey all 3 brands are great just different and this replication of wear and tar is not natural at all, you will notice once working with them for years and years and if reaching this stage you simply did it all wrong and need to fess up to that and take better care of your tools, or maybe did not pay for them? Normal wear is natural, this simulation speeding up wear and tear is not. Believe me, or not as you like we see dead Hilti batteries too at the company, question is if swapping for a new for free is worth the extra cost over buying a brand new one and get 2 for 1 depending on where you life of course? Like always we often sew much cheaper hardware in the states, if that goes for Hilti I know not but here they are twice the cost or near enough. Your choice, they are all great but 2x biggest batt do last longer than x1 if taking that into consideration and your stuff last?
All of those companies do NOT use their own cells . Most likely they are Samsung cells with a custom made container. The CELL is the battery NOT the case that the company makes to house them.
The batteries battle is not fair. I have no idea what area you would like to test? Endurance? Performance? Anyway, performance and endurance are affected by the tool and accessories. Concrete holes drilling test are the worst one. Performance is greatly affected by the drill bit. The factory setting of speed and torque of the hammer drill will have so much impact on the battery life.
Just replaced 6 makita batteries with similar if not worse damage, 3 of them 2 years past warranty. Didn't pay a dime. Also, makita's warranty is 3 years, not 3 months.

Good point, a 22v CPC have got 12x 18650 in them do they not? Makita using Samsung cells count nominal 3.6v I thing so x5 give 18, so if Hilti 18650 (whatever cell they use) count nominal 3.7v x 6 that would give us 22.2v in series, both have 5 respectively 6 more in parallel but yeah again good point indeed and hence should have some extra juice on board.

Your only covered for the 2 years, and even that is a dicey situation, since companies like this will simply say that the tool has been abused, which is not covered. Hilti pre-authorizes $90.00 on your cc for any repair, not including shipping back to you, which is over $40.00. I had a reverse switch that was stuck (jammed) on an impact driver and they charged me $130.15. I was shocked. I am not in construction, am a simple homeowner and my driver looked brand new and was not used very much at all. They charge the max for any repair done. THEY determine the manufacture defect, which is a defect in the manufacturing process of a specific part that directly resulted in the failure or malfunction of the tool. You would basically have to be a forensic scientist with an electron microscope and look for fatigue fractures like an FAA plane crash investigator to determine such a thing. In short, think of it this way: Your covered for battery failure for 2 years if your lucky and they don't say that you improperly charged them. It has to go in for diagnosis either way and you get to pay $40 plus for shipping, just for a small drill or driver. If I could do it over again, I would just get a Ryobi for less than half the price, use it until failure and toss it.
I see that you used a Hilti insert on all of them. The difference would have been even more if you used the same brand bits with each tool. Hilti bits are the best. Nothing comes close.

MASTER ALLEY just for your information in my area they change the Milwaukee batteries for 3yrs NO QUESTION ASK. Might be different in your country. And metal saw milwaukee makes one. The american version ia the 2782-20 more performant then hilti and makita

Some people really like HILTI, I've always thought they were really uncomfortable to hold for more than a few minutes of hard use. Maybe it's just my tiny hands.
I have to agree on this. After trying Makita, Hitachi, WORX, Devon, I found Hilti is larger for big hands. Smaller handle are less tiring for me especially for long period of work
I use Hilti at work where the company pay for all the tools. And makita and Hitachi at home where I pay for the tools. It's like having three (all beautifull in their own way) wives!
All of the tools are good quality. The Hilti came first in testing followed by Makita with Milwaukee in last place. Considering the real world price the Milwaukee gear had the lowest price followed by Makita with Hilti tools costing much more than the other two brands. For home use the Milwaukee tools are the clear winners in every category as long as the batteries are kept out of cement mixers.

i just bought hilti impact wrench SIW-22A arrived tomorrow. but i choose the small battery 2.6 as they are more lighter than 5.2. if the batteries performance different i would like to have 5.2 ah.
You would only notice on heavy loads like angle grinder or circular saw. On drill drivers (depending on usage) and impacts the smaller capacity 2,6Ah keep up pretty well and are lighter.
To the uninformed this probably looks like a good test. The truth of the matter is that there is a lot of variables that aren't controlled here. For instance amount of pressure being placed on the cutting tools directly affects motor load and current draw on the batteries. Batteries are a bit like the lottery even within the same manufacturer, the manufacturers purchase the cells inside the packs from whoever they can get the best deal at the time. Tool batteries can have 2 or 3 or even more different types of cell spread across multiple packs depending when you bought it, could be LG, Samsung, Sony or whatever else kind of cells the tool company wanted at the time.
I have Makita and im extremely happy with them,batteries are very good in quality,and power tools are powerful and reliable, I totally recommend them.

Love the batteries in the concrete mixer. A real test. In framing/construction, we do put all tools to the test, all the time. I am a Hilti fan.

You would basically have to be a forensic scientist with an electron microscope and look for fatigue fractures like an FAA plane crash investigator to determine such a thing. In short, think of it this way: Your covered for battery failure for 2 years if your lucky and they don't say that you improperly charged them. It has to go in for diagnosis either way and you get to pay $40 plus for shipping, just for a small drill or driver. If I could do it over again, I would just get a Ryobi for less than half the price, use it until failure and toss it.
I see that you used a Hilti insert on all of them. The difference would have been even more if you used the same brand bits with each tool. Hilti bits are the best. Nothing comes close.

We have very minimum support, information from many brand before, people buy tools base on mouth to mouth data. And metal saw milwaukee makes one. The american version ia the 2782-20 more performant then hilti and makita

Some people really like HILTI, I've always thought they were really uncomfortable to hold for more than a few minutes of hard use. Maybe it's just my tiny hands.
I have to agree on this. After trying Makita, Hitachi, WORX, Devon, I found Hilti is larger for big hands.
Smaller handle are less tiring for me especially for long period of work
I use Hilti at work where the company pay for all the tools. And makita and Hitachi at home where I pay for the tools. It's like having three (all beautifull in their own way) wives!

All of the tools are good quality. The Hilti came first in testing followed by Makita with Milwaukee in last place. Considering the real world price the Milwaukee gear had the lowest price followed by Makita with Hilti tools costing much more than the other two brands. For home use the Milwaukee tools are the clear winners in every category as long as the batteries are kept out of cement mixers.

i just bought hilti impact wrench SIW-22A arrived tomorrow. but i choose the small battery 2.6 as they are more lighter than 5.2. if the batteries performance different i would like to have 5.2 ah.
You would only notice on heavy loads like angle grinder or circular saw. On drill drivers (depending on usage) and impacts the smaller capacity 2,6Ah keep up pretty well and are lighter.

To the uninformed this probably looks like a good test. The truth of the matter is that there is a lot of variables that aren't controlled here. For instance amount of pressure being placed on the cutting tools directly affects motor load and current draw on the batteries.
Batteries are a bit like the lottery even within the same manufacturer, the manufacturers purchase the cells inside the packs from whoever they can get the best deal at the time. Tool batteries can have 2 or 3 or even more different types of cell spread across multiple packs depending when you bought it, could be LG, Samsung, Sony or whatever else kind of cells the tool company wanted at the time.
