Wyman Manderly in the show: “We can’t stand up to the Freys and Boltons”
Wyman Manderly in the book: “Little Walder has been murdered? What a mercy! He would’ve grown up to be a Frey!”
Fr! Yet another character that D&D let fail instead of actually showing layers
It is very stupid how every single great house in the North pretty much loved the Starks so much so that they would willingly follow a bastard if they had their name, yet they refused to do anything about the Red Wedding. They even have two sayings, “A Stark must always remain in Winterfell,” “The North Remembers,” that pain their steadfastness towards Starks into reverence yet they refused to avenge their fallen King. Even Lady Dustin who hated Eddard knew they wouldn’t let that slide, and suggested they treat “Arya” better.
@@MADLADCOMICSthe whole of the north is buttfucked by D&D. if there's one thing the north cares about above all else its honour and the lord paramount brance is widely beloved which is a contrast to the 6 other kingdoms. there's absolutely no way that the north would have rejected jon and sansa in favour of peace, quiet and licking their wounds.
the north would have been chomping at the bit to get behind jon and sansa against the bolton's and why wouldn't they? tywin was dead and the rest of the 7 kingdoms was in turmoil, they wouldn't have had any repurcussions and the boltons no support. and more importantly they would have righted a wrong, the north all knew that roose/boltons were behind the red wedding and had killed robb.
but nope, just have the north unrealistically sitting back and being all sad.
such a stupid decision imo. yes, it allowed a standout performance from bella ramsey but the battle of the bastards could still have happened EXACTLY the same way - except the majority of the north, albeit severely weakened from war would have been included in the script. just swap out a few wildling costumes for northern armour, sprinkle around a few banners and include the unimportant lord glover being one of the many peppered by arrows and boom job done. it at least sticks to the rigid northern morals of honour and duty.
The Dragon Demands used to have a full video on his channel where he analyzes the Battle of the Bastards and D&D's statements surrounding it, and he came to the conclusion that the only reason the Battle of the Bastards ended the way it did and not with the North turning on the Boltons is because they ran out of time when filming. Lyanna Mormont's speech about the North remembering should originally have been Wyman Manderly's, whose actor was originally cast for a speaking role but then surprisingly demoted to an extra. The video is unfortunately down right now though, because The Dragon Demands is redoing it.
@@ezdub5762 One of the problems the Northern houses have is that they simply have nobody left. Alys Karstark says so many men went south with her father and never came back, there was no one left to harvest the crops. The new Umber force is mentioned to be either really old or really young men.
Roose purposely preserved his forces and let other houses lose manpower, so it could be a question of the North losing an entire generation at Robb's wedding and not having the men left to fight.
The Freys: "Who would do such a thing?!"
Lady Dustin: "Who wouldn't?"😎
Books : "The North Remembers"
Show : "The North kinda forgets..."
I was laughing reading the comments, then I read this and shake my head
Seriously. I know I'm beating a dead direwolf, but... HOW?! Those first few seasons to that "end"? More money and attention than ever... like, I really, genuinely don't get it.
@@dylanmonstrum1538D&D were going to direct or write I can't remember which one but it was for star wars so they rushed GOT on purpose, they ran out of source material so they decided to just end it, but even Disney realized they were terrible so they cancelled the deal
Lady Dustin is a very interesting character. She's highly intelligent, capable and was almost the lady of winterfell if her father's ambitions bore fruit. I wonder what would have happened had she actually married ned while brandon was still betrothed to catelyn. She definitely would have been far more level headed that cat, that's to be sure. But she can really hold a grudge. She's still vengeful against ned for bringing back lyanna's bones, but not her husband's, who went with him to retrieve his sister and fought and died by his side, and now buried somewhere near tower of joy. Same for Ramsay, she hates that one with a burning passion since she fully believes he offed domeric, who was roose's first son, and whom she was very fond of.
She was Domeric aunt
and i thought she was nothing but a hypocrite and traitor
Highly intelligent ? We barely know her. She is not dumb, that we can say.
she was fond of her nephew.
@@ousseynougueye5949 just read her chapters lol, she's politically astute and speaks her mind very well. Even roose bolton advices ramsay to keep in her good books, she's a woman who never forgets an offence and has the mind and patience to seek vengeance when the time comes. Her husband died by following ned stark, but couldn't have his bones returned the way lyanna's was. So when ned's own bones are on the way to winterfell to be buried, barbrey tells theon those bones will never reach an honourable grave, just like her husband's didn't. It's only because she hated ned stark that she's willing to be with the anti-stark faction, but I'm guessing once roose is gone and ramsay becomes lord bolton, she'll turn her cloak on him as she loved domeric
Wyman Manderly: *I'm not stuck in here with you! YOU are stuck in here with ME!*
He came here to kick as and eat “meat” pie and he is all out of pie.
Well now I can only picture a giant The Blob sized Wyman Manderly filling a room like a laughing, gleeful flabalanche flesh tide and ending both the Frey and Bolton lineages instantly
@@orbitalbutt6757 HAHAHAH!!!
"They dishinored us!" Insults can be mended with reparations but betrayal and murdering of guests? No sir that is a whole different animal
Indeed. Their error in judgment and the outcome that came of it is all a consequence of Walder Frey's pettiness, greed, and the delusional belief that they strong, powerful, and well connected enough to get away with it.
To be fair, this "dishonor" was just an excuse. The real reason was how the war went on. If Robb was winning, Freys would have swallawed their pride and stayed by his side. Walder just wanted to be on the winning side, thats all. @@Tyler_W
@@oldy4080wrong, robb dishonoured freys even worst he wedded a westerner a very lesser house than freys, cat pointed this out..robb was a fool tho
@@user-qv4bp7vg6u House Westerling is far more famed than House Frey. They date back to the First Men, while house Frey existed only for 600 years. Yes, currently the Freys are richer, but they're just upjumped due to the crossing they hold, while the Westerlings are far more nobler, there was even a Jeyne Westerling that was one of Maegor I's queen. The previous comment is correct, the Freys are butthurt because even with all their money, they're not as respected as poorer houses of nobler lineage.
@@alexpopa5436 the same arguement u re making is what rob told cat, and that's exactly what got him killed...its not about morals, house frey don't hv honour but they re currently a greater house than westerlings, frey has control of the bridge a v important passage, and has 6k swords, westerling has only 50 swords, cat told robb that that everyone has been shitting on freys for years, to add salt to injury robb married a lesser house..rob's stupidity got him killed
"The North remembers, Frey" - lady Dustin. Yeah, the Frey's are done...
Especialy whit what Cat/Stoneheart is about to do
Lord Wyman is just too smart and too much of a unit to die.
His folds saved his life lol
Its hinted in the book Lord Manderly had three Freys killed cooked into pies and fed to their kin at Winterfell as revenge.
It's still funny to think about the freys naming themselves after Targaeryans
They are out of options so. 😅
They should go back to their Sesame Street roots.
@@nunyabiznes33 fr they got someone named elmo during the dance of dragons
@@dariuschavez8555
That were Tullies.
@@dariuschavez8555Elmo Tully and Kermit Frey 😂😂
I will never forget how Wyman Manderly fed a Frey his own sons. Manderly's are the real bro's.
Fun fact: Lady Dustin has personal serious grudge against house stark, but house stark is so much loved that she has to put away the grudge for a minute to scold the freys.
Its more for ned cause not bringing her husband bones home but i think she will remain loyal in the end
@@johnnyboogalo4897 she has grudge against brandon, who took her maidenhead n dipped.
Not house stark just ned and she is very smart she realised that ned stark sons are still alive when she went to the crypts and saw the missing swords
She has every reason to be.
@@WobblesandBean she doesn't, who still don't know wht happend at tower of joy.
Bro the line "The North remembers" is 🥶
Ironically the Freys could have eventually being lord of Riverrun without the infamy of the red wedding by simply marrying Roslin with Edmure and Roslin having Edmure's children. However Walder Frey was too egoistic and short sighted to clearly see the consequences of breaking one of the most sacred rule in the realm.
The Freys will forever carry such stigma and no houses in Riverrun will respect or even bow to their rule without force.
Walder wanted to be Lord of Riverrun, he never wanted his children to inherit anything thats why he lived so long and had so many kids so they would all fight over it all. The epitome of selfish
No because the kids would be Tully's by name
@@D3ATHSTR0PRODUCTIONS True but only Tully in name. Like the Lannisters marrying Cersei to Robert their children will be supporting House Frey.
@@linziannaYes, that's why I said he was short-sighted. He single-handedly destroyed and vilified his house forever for short-term gains.
@@neilsonhans4763 yeah but it would still be a Tully ruling the River lands. They might have frey blood but everyone would recognize them as Tully not frey
I'm not questioning your honor, I'm denying its existence!
So much better than Arya randomly killing the freys with no training.
No training? Brother the whole season before that scene she's training
@@PrinceIsot she only switchd into ONE body. most of her training was to just listening. there's no way she would be able to wipe out everyone like this
@@stevenhedge2850 lol what? So just say "I don't remember"
@@stevenhedge2850 they literally show her fighting the Waif EVERYDAY while blind, I'm pretty sure once she got her sight back she could fight pretty okay 🤣
Did you even watch the show? Lol Arya had a full season+ of training 🤦♂️
Wyman Manderly casually baking people into pies 😂
Barbary Dustin is one of the few Northern Lords who doesn't even like the Starks btw. Now imagine what the other Northern Lords must think
Isn’t her grudge against Nedd personally for not being back her husbands bones or even telling her where they are. Brought back the horse, but won’t tell her where her husbands bones are. She has very good reason to not like Nedd.
yes, Ned was prick, instead of returning the bodies of his companions he thought returning a sword of the man who helped the kidnapping of his sister was better than returning the bodies of the companions who died for him
@@johnnyboy3410 we don’t actually know what happened there, as a reader we are meant to question the whole thing, as it goes against Ned’s character.
@@SpottedHaresthat and also she was in love with Brandon Neds Brother, he took her virginity and left to marry cat.
That Theon chapter was insane. Arguably the best in the series
shane-yeah, that Theon chapter and the Forsaken chapter...they are INSANELY good.
Jaime: How goes the siege?
Deavon: Boring. Someone should order an assult.
Jaime: And our "friends" of Frey?
Deavon: Could be some of them could do with a good bit of dying.
Using them on the front lines
Big Walder killed little Walder. Thats why big Walder has blood all over him, even though little Walder was in the snow and his blood was frozen…
Not sure if this was super obvious, but I loved that when I found it out!
It is Little Walder who was killed, the Big one is an OK lad who can’t stand his cousin becoming like Ramsay.
I think it’s Ramsy who killed little Walder in front of big Walder
Ramsy hates the Freys for trying to take over the dreadfort
@@fel_zharost you’re right! Don’t know how I did that. I edited it. Hope I didn’t confuse anyone haha
Thing is they tend to remember grudges and hold slights to their honor above all else. But in actuality they don't remember anything that might've passed hundreds of years ago. If they did we'd probably know more about this white walker greenseer business.
The Others were actually 8.000 years before the current affairs in the books. And even if the Maesters got it wrong, several millennia passed between the two invasions of the Others. The first invasion happened at the end of the Age of Heroes, even before the Andals had landed. The Others were encountered by the First Men.
I wish we had a moment for Lady Lyanna and Lady Barbrae in the show. I wanted to drive home how deep Northerner sensibilities really run.
It was a crime cutting Wyman from the show. Imagine Brian Blessed Santamaxxing eating Frey pie
I could Imagine Brian Blessed being Mors Umber too, thought Ian McNiece would be perfect for Wyman Manderly
@@flyingrancidm00nfish7 had him mixed up for Ian McShane for a second and I was like wut?
Ian MacNiece just makes me think low rent Richard Griffiths, who was a Yorkshire legend, but is also dead
Yeah, what the f*ck did they think would happen later. Did they really think that they can get away with it. To inflict sure inhuman horrors during an event that is supposed to be sacred. How short sighted.
Man Arya's show revenge felt so utterly hollow, D& D just clearing the board
I want to know why Lady Barbrey Dustin wasn't in the show.
TWOW will be glorious! ❤️

@@mayureshrasam1708You don’t have to write that every single time.
@@ousseynougueye5949 I am writing it for first time.
I don't get why the show chose to avoid this story line. They had source material and chose to ignore it. They had it all to make a good secomd half of the show. They made game of thrones fail
An anime that's completely accurate to the books would be awesome.
Some parts of the show would have to be left in. Tyrion's wedding night for example.
Maybe the Martells are able to get away with something like this, but a minor house like the Frey's?
I doubt the Martells would break guest right granted they are not as ridged as the north when it comes to that but still they can back up what they say the Freys not so much.
@@jaderounder the martells would be a bit more subtle than having your troops murder everyone. sure they would use scorpions in beds, or poision
She doesn't even acknowledge him; what he says. Manderly's "The North Remembers" speech is Lady Dustin's. Manderly was quoting her to Davos-Barbrey was at White Harbor while Davos was there. Robett Glover is HER man. Glover IS the Hooded Man, there to inform Barbrey and Manderly that Davos is back and Rickon is at Barrowton. Barbrey has an army forming up at Barrowton. In Barrowton is where Rhaegar Frey {and crew} is tortured, questioned, and then made into a pies. THAT would leave a trace if done anywhere else. THAT is the REAL reason the Sad Wedding was moved to the Ruins of Winterfell during winter. I LOVE Barbrey-I am betting SHE is the 3rd Queen that Little Finger is talking about, NOT Sansa. There is going to be a Queen in the North, and her name is Barbrey Dustin-she is going to kill Ramsey while he is Lord of Winterfell. I do not think she intends to harm the Starks. Pretty sure she is trying to clear the collapse in the crypts and she is also returning Ned's bone home. Roose is helping by not interfering. Roose is going to skate-Barbrey and Manderly are blackmailing Roose. They KNOW he stabbed Robb. Soon, they will be the ONLY ones that know that truth in the North. Barbrey is VERY careful about who she kills, where, and when. SHE is the one who told Manderly about Guest Gifts. It was Barbrey who schooled Manderly on the history of the North. THAT is why Davos gets uncomfortable during Wyman's 'speech'-Wyman was qouting Barbrey for reals.
Proof?
@mrj4082 I don't know how to show proof for a work of fiction-but we can totally talk it out! There are HUGE indicators that Barbrey has been working to take the North. The biggest being that the wedding was moved from Barrowton. But it goes WAY back-to when Ned comes back North after Robert's Rebellion. Ned went to Barbrey Dustin's right after Starfall. He went to Barbrey for help-whatever the Ned did at Starfall-he finished at Barrowton. O-I almsot forgot to mention-the Dunc and Egg stories play into this as well. Especially Rohanne Webber.
The Freys made many enemies with the other noble houses. 😂
It is really a shame that the series will never be finished.
Lady Dustin is the shit. lol
Freys regretts it because their backs become sheaths for Northerns' Knives.
I have an unholy obsession with House Dustin, and it all started because i like their sigil 😭
Suffering a dishonor doesn't make it right to commit a greater dishonor.
Book Freys will learn that very soon.
she is terrifying
They deserved to be afraid 😨 😱
This is what it's like when everyone hates your guts for your betrayal...
Why is that last illustration of Lady Dustin doing things to me
If you like that look up lotara sarin she’s your kind of gal
I think the reason the Freys were such incapable idiots was because Walder Frey was an incredibly selfish father, neither did he want them to be capable of anything nor did he want them to inherit anything. There are hated characters, or stupid characters but some characters are just grotesque.
Ugh i just wanna see Stannis take Winterfell and defeat the Boltons already!!!
Who'd Robb marry if there wouldn't be an agreement with the Freys? Had anyone think about that?
Good question, probably some southern house on the fence about which side to join during the war. What would make the absolute most sense, but probably wouldn't work because of who he is as a person, but Robb being betrothed to Shireen. Joining Stark and Baratheon against kings landing it would be a wrap. But Stannis would never be okay with one of the kingdoms being independent, as its his duty to defend the realm.
Another good one would be Arianne Martell, after the death of Viserys. She would still get to be a queen, and then Dorne would join with the north and take out the lannisters like they dreamed of.
We fellow Theon?
What's up with Barbery Dustin ? Do you think that she will remain loyal to the Boltons? I feel like she is ready to change side in any moment.
She is a wild card and super paranoid
Didn't one of the boys from House Blackwood die in the Red Wedding as well?
Most of the Northern and Riverland houses lost kin at the Red Wedding.
The Freys are pariahs for eternity at this point.
I have to ask, Has ever existed a Frey that doesn't suck?
Lady Sabitha Frey?
AI is obvious here.... Could you have checked the audio script?
No clue wt hell is being said but I like the soundtrack xD
