- Hey my Name is Paul i am a Fulltime Filmmaker from Germany
This channel is mainly about #filmmaking and learning about videography.
Still, great vlogs will come and I'll take you on this new journey :)
My main camera is the #LumixS1h with which I film most of the time.
The Lumix S1H is a full-frame mirrorless camera designed for professional video production. It can record in various resolutions and formats, such as:
6K (5952 x 3988) at 24p in H.265/HEVC codec with 200 Mbps bitrate1
5.9K (5888 x 3312) at 30p/24p in H.265/HEVC codec with 200 Mbps bitrate1
4K (4096 x 2160 or 3840 x 2160) at 60p/30p/24p in H.265/HEVC or H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec with up to 400 Mbps bitrate1
Full HD (1920 x 1080) at 120p/60p/30p/24p in H.265/HEVC or H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec with up to 200 Mbps bitrate1
The Lumix S1H also supports 10-bit 4:2:2 internal recording and 10-bit 4:2:2 HDMI output, as well as V-Log, HDR/HLG, and various monitoring tools1. It has a 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor, a Venus Engine processor, a 5-axis in-body image stabilization system, a 225-area DFD contrast autofocus system, a 3.2-inch fully articulated LCD screen, a 5.76-million-dot OLED viewfinder, and a dual SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot2.
The possible successor of the Lumix S1H, the Lumix S1H Mark II, is rumored to have the following features:
A 34-megapixel full-frame sensor that can record 8K (8192 x 4320) at 60p in H.265/HEVC codec with ProRes RAW support3
A new autofocus system that uses phase detection and artificial intelligence3
A built-in ND filter and an improved cooling system3
A USB recording option and a CFexpress card slot3
A release date in March or April 20233
These are just rumors and not confirmed by Panasonic, so take them with a grain of salt. The Lumix S1H Mark II could be a game-changer for filmmakers who want to capture high-resolution and high-quality video in a compact and versatile camera. However, it could also face competition from other 8K cameras, such as the Nikon Z9 and the Canon EOS Cinema R5 C45.

Thoroughly enjoyed this, Paul. Many thanks! It’s clear to see you’re talking from the real world perspective and are not just another youtuber out there. I’m still at the beginning of the journey, just got the S5M2 and love to check out your professional insights. From the things you mentioned the internal ND filter would just make everything much easier and would be a great help. Also the focus on the quality of the image rather than the pixel count is important. And yeah, the false colours would be terrific. Regards from the Czech Republic
Greetings to the Czech Republic 💓✌️ thank you very much for this nice Feedback. I see it like that. A Smartphone even can also record in 8k 60fps. But the image looks terrible.
And some cinema cameras record only in 2k. And the image looks like magic 🫡
What do you want for the S1h ii?
1. At least another stop of dynamic range
2. Internal maximum ProRes 4444XQ 12 bit recording codec (I just hate it when some professional cameras only top out at 4:2:2 10 bit recording)
3. Faster rolling shutter, or global shutter.
4. Updated autofocus.
5. Internal ND filters.
6. Internal RAW recording, either ProRes RAW or BRAW.
