It looks good, I recently bought a brand new tiny credit card sized Kodak P&S (an FZ55) with a 16mp CMOS sensor and 5X optical zoom for £80, it looks and feels like a toy but it takes really good photos with good color and contrast due to its modern sensor and AF/exposure system. IF ONLY the internals were inside this body with a viewfinder, but there is a tip, the Kodak FZ55 is way better than you might think (apart from the slow F3.9 max aperture)
The motion detection function would be actually pretty amazing for something like filming birds or other animals. I used to have a gorgeous birb coming to a bird feeder I made two winters ago. I really wanted to take a photo of it, but it was quite easily spooked and it flew away every time it noticed any motion. It looks like this cheap camera would be quite handy if I had it back then.
I thought this was going to be a 'rip off scam' story. Its not a fake because they dont claim it is a Fujifilm X100V or put a Fuji logo on it. For $35 its OK if you accept its limitations, maybe for a child or just to have some fun. Fujifilm won't even sell you an X100V lens hood for $35

I get surprisingly good photo results from mine indistiguishable on facebook from those from a Leica, it is light and easy to use with good autofocus and very sharp pictures with good contrast as long as you do not use the 'zoom' or pixel peep, ideal for taking everywhere even the beach and freeing oneself from photo technique so as to concentrate on the image and the composition. The colours are very good. The downside is reliability in that that some pictures taken seem to get lost and do not transfer to lightroom so it is a toy in that respect but much easier to use and more fun for taking pictures than a smartphone.

That's got a phone sensor in it so you're better off just using your phone. As for the zoom, X100VI hasn't got one either. And focusing is fast because with that tiny sensor everything is in focus anyway.
I thought the same thing. Though, it's heavily discounted and the original RRP was apparently $99, so perhaps they're just cutting their losses and trying to shift the units they have?
@@TomCalton they still profit at $35. I've been to china and there are countless warehouses just full of old and terrible electronic components that nobody wants. More than you can imagine. So on one hand, it's kind of good if someone is making something from basically e-waste, even if it is crap.

I’d be curious if the 4K framerate issues are related to cheap supplied SD card? It might be frame limited due to write speed, have you tried a faster card for science?
It reminds me of those Russian "toy," cameras you used to be able to buy back in the film days. Minus the horrible lens aberrations and light leaks of course.... 🤣
My current "camera" is a nearly 15 year old Fuji hn25 with a smudge on the internal lens. I love the old digital look, but without the ability to take the lens off to clean it, or 1500 bucks to spend on a new camera.. this is looking pretty good as a hiking/climbing/ general "it's not the end of the world if I break this" camera.. I can't forsee getting anything else of this quality for less than 50 bucks. What do you think?
I think it's better to gift an old "soap digital" camera from Canon than this thing. Unless you live in China and you don't have some very old used cameras locally. I think it could be used as a cinema prop... For example if some "street photographer" is being hit or falls accidently and it breaks it's nice old Leica (by the script). Obviously you'll not use a real Leica/Fuji (anything valuable) in a budget cinema :)
If they sorted out some of the photography issues, stuck to 1080p removing the "4K" features and priced it around the $/£50 mark it could be a decent buy for someone wanting a cheapo camera they don't care if they drop off a bridge. As it is though, a waste of money when any smartphone will give much better images.

Both of them I’ve found pretty small and power lens to keep them very minimal as a side piece to my wife’s canon r6 mark ii and my m50. Just curious or is it an overkill to even purchase one of those at all? We like the vintage look since modern cameras are very detailed it’s nice sometimes to just have soft retro pictures with minimal editing/none at all.
