I shot a music festival today with the Shinobi and the GH6, and was annoyed AF that I couldn't get the focus peaking to show on the external monitor, so I had to keep opening up the flip screen to see what was properly in focus. Won't have to do that at tomorrow's show now tho! 😁 You've just gained a new sub out of me too.

Do you need to set 32 bit floating point when you are editing log? How about when editing 8 bit log vs 10 bit log? Should I always set 32bit or only when I editit something above 8 bit? I'm asking because my computer seems to struggle more with 32 bit float point as opposed to 8 bit. How about using 32 bit float full range vs 32 bit video levels? When should I use one vs the other?

My reason is pretty simple. Around 2007 Vegas was on par with the other NLEs (Premiere, Final Cut and Avid), but it had an advantage, that it didn't require a powerful machine to run, it was simple and most importantly it was stable. Almost 2 decade later most of what I wrote is not the case anymore, but being very familiar with the software, it would take me a lit of time to learn the other NLEs. I tried transitioning to Da Vinci, but it was very different and because I was already working on an important project, I decided to just upgrade to Vegas Pro 21. The biggest difference is that now Vegas is not stable and it does require a pretty powerful PC to work on it. The constant crashing is the most frustrating thing, but I still hope one day I will receive an update that will make it more stable. If that does not happen in the next few months I'll probably have to switch to something else. The crazy thing here is that I'm not even doing anything very complex. It's almost constantly 8 bit rec709 in either 4k or 1080p, but it's still crashing multiple times a day. That is the main reason why I avoid shooting in 10 bit, even though my camera can easily do it. Please Magix fix that or at least make it when it crashes that it's saved at the point of the crash.

Meh, the S9 could be a nice addition for L-Mount users, but it's price makes it mostly a bad choice as it actually costs the *same* as a S5II! Also the small form factor of the S9 makes no sense as long there are no real small/light FF lenses. Even the 20-60mm kit lens is quite bulky on it and the new pancake 26mm f8 with manual focus only is a bad joke - the S9 is full of bad compromises. For beginners I'd recommend to just get into MFT instead. E.g. the G9II for also about the same price and comparable in weight and size with a lens attached. And you get way cheaper, lighter and more sensible lenses available.

In some of your travel videos earlier in you library, you shot in HLG - which was fantastic. What are your thoughts on using VLOG vs HLG in high dynamic scenarios? I find myself using CineD2 with leeming luts burned in in camera on the S5ii - it's easy for me as a novice- but HLG intrigues me - like, can you safely mix HLG with other color profiles on the same timeline when editing? ....all that said and asked - I enjoy your videos. Do you still prefer the same settings on the S5ii?

The S1 and S1H are still the best value in 2024 for people seeking for the best image quality.

Ich denke Vegas Pro war doch schon bevor Magix das gekauft hat qualitativ relativ "meh" geworden, die letzte Version die ich hatte war 2015 oder so - Resolve Studio ftw - einmal bezahlt (USB Dongle) und Updates bisher waren alle inklusive..

Will this lens work well in very low light situations? Where it is pitch black except a few RGB lights on each side of one’s face and an overhead key light just lightly lighting up ones head. I’m shooting a music video with this vibe. Would the front of their face be detailed and sharp in such a minimal lit up situation? I have an S5 II and been using a 20-60 kit lens and it’s looks decent but not detailed or sharp. Thanks!

I can confirm that the Lumix 24-70 is an outstanding lens. I have had this for a couple of days. I am curious about the coming large aperture standard zoom of Panasonic. It is announced in their lens roadmap but further info is still not available. Apart of the PRO-lens-Zooms I like the 14-28, the 70-300 and the 28-200.

3:03 Wait, what? You have NR in V-LOG. At least in S5 IIX on my camera. It was not working on a review sample, but it works on my retail one. Also - yea, I use V-LOG always, but I absolutely love colors it provides and absolutely despise the colors STD gives me. To me it looks disgusting, like a Canon base profile.

If you really want to know how I rate......... I Charge $60 for 10 pictures and $200 for a 10 min video $500 for a 4 hour wedding pictures and $850 for a 8 hour wedding pictures. $650 for 4 hour wedding video and $1000 for 8 hr video. I live in a small town. My favorite is the $60 for 10 pictures. Usually less than an hour of pictures and I can edit all 10 that I like in less than 30 mins. Small town travel time is 20 mins top. So i'm ranging about $30 per hour. But one month I set my goal to only be 100 $60 dollar pictures only. Got that completed in less than 2 weeks. Took the rest of the month off and it was amazing. video with the lumix S5 is amazing I just need to get better with it. But when I do and I can edit fast like a pro I can pretty easily triple my income. The Lumix S5 is the best camera I have ever owned and it's going to take the Lumix S2H or Lumix S5iiix to make me switch for the price I got this camera at.
