    Great video, as always. I liked the player role quiz very much. I was correct both times. 😁
    A friendly video request: Can you maybe make a video on how you do your match preparations, for example, adjusting to different opposition play styles ? That would be great.😊
    I have watched all of your videos so far, and they helped a lot.☺
    Keep up your great work.

    really great walk-through and insights. diagnosing the issues and changing the roles to combat is usually not my style due to my terror of my tactical familiarity bar but it was really cool to see the difference they made. I would also love a version of this for the in possession instructions and when to use them and the out of possession instructions and when to use them to solve issues you see in game. I would also love to see you diagnose in game issues in a 3 atb formation as i think that is the hardest base defense to set up and adjust.

    You can't imagine the pleasure of playing FM in one monitor while watching your lesson on another, Teacher! So much that Real Madrid just scored against me as I was not paying enough attention! 😂😂😂 just one suggestion: I know you don't like the 3D engine, but I still believe you are missing something without it: body language, view direction, tackling... give it a try with vertical scrolling with wide zoom and high camera.
    P.S.
    I am exploring a trick you might test: if you offer a player a new contract, in the promises screen, you can promise him to play in his favourite role. Even without completing the transaction, that's the only way I know to know the player's favourite role. No idea how much important it is but maybe it is.
    Thank you! This is the most important of your videos since now, because it might spread the "full time" religion 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤

    I find the biggest simple change to my team during a match is a change from 2FCs, 2MCs to 1FC, 3MCs (or 2MC, 1 DM), if I am being overrun in the centre of the field. With 3 MCs I will have 1 on At or Mez, the centre one as def or BWM and the last on a sup or BBM instruction. I will also go from a play down the flanks to a mixed play to make use of the extra midfield man.

    Great video as usual!
    Question: do you care too much about the player attributes when switching their role during the match? For example, if you’re playing a rather slow DM or someone not the greatest while roaming (or two), would you be wary before making them a VOL or something similar? Same goes for making your defender a Libero, as not all defenders especially lower league ones are adept with that role.
    I guess the opposite would be true, if you had a shorter and faster striker would you think twice or choose anything besides target forward?
    Thanks!

    • @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker
      @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker  ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      thanks for the really good question! I like to switch player roles around and what can help out the tactic. I touched on this a little bit in a recent video, but in my River Plate team, I had a great Libero. However, his backup wasn't as good in the role. I still wanted the Libero's movement in the tactic regardless of the player, so that's where player instructions come in. I told the backup to dribble less and shoot less, so I still get the benefits of the player role, while limiting what the backup isn't so good at. That could be an approach you take. Hope that helps :)

    I am curious about positional familiarity. I like the idea of adjusting roles and duties to exploit what you're seeing, but wouldn't that be detrimental to the players role familiarity? What if you don't have the player to suit the role you want to employ mid match?

    • @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker
      @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker  ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      funny enough, I was literally just reading about this in the FM24 manual. To paraphrase what it says, there is a small hit to the player's effectiveness, but they'll still be able to perform the different role and duty. Say you've got a player that you usually use as an Inside Forward but you switch him to a Raumdeuter. It's a different role, but they're still playing in the same position on the wing, so there's an inherent familiarity that the player will have. There is a much bigger penalty if you played him out of position, say as a defensive midfielder.

    Good job sir, as always! What I ve noticed for my creative attacking squad is that balanced doesnt work, it just allows opponents to be dangerous and attack me while i am not creating and scoring enough to win matches. Using Positive instead, gives me 60% ball and loads of chances / goals which then leads to comfy wins, even with other big teams. On top of this, messing too much with player roles seems to confuse my players, they seem to like being kept on what they’re used with.

    Love these videos. Given the evidence of tactic testing, how do you ignore the meta instructions that simply seem to favor the match engine? (e.g. shorter passing, high press & high line, get stuck in, etc.) I always find myself going back to what works well with the match engine even though it's much more exciting trying out new formations and instructions.

    • @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker

    Good to see a MOTM performance by Birmingham, Alabama's Chris Richards (I actually attend the same church as his parents).
    Loved this video, but it got me curious. I usually stick with the same tactic (something I arrive at over time, not a plug-and-play), and it's something I know works for the most part. Still, on occasion, my players will just drop terrible performances (often on the road, but sometimes at home), and I'll lose a game I shouldn't, get blown away by someone I should be on the same level with, or barely scrape a result against a team I should beat easily.
    Do you think making the *correct* tactical adjustments can overcome this? Or do you think the game just deals us a bad hand sometimes? Either way, I'm going to try and use this to be a little more proactive when I feel one of those dips coming. Thanks for the video!

    • @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker
      @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      well tell his parents I was very proud of him after that performance haha. He changed the game. As far as your question, I've got a (hopefully) intriguing response :)
      I think FM is incredibly realistic, especially in terms of how it handles results (as much as we may not like it haha). There will naturally be dips in form, results, player performances, etc... as the season goes on. For example, say you're managing Chelsea and things are going great. In the last 8 games, you've won all 8 with a goal differential 26-8. Just absolutely dominating. Up next, you've got matches against Everton, Fulham, and Ipswich. Mid table and relegation candidates, so it should be easy wins right? Well, you lose two of them and are only able to draw the other one, so you've had a shocking dip in form. This is what happened to Chelsea in real life.
      All that to say, some matches you're just destined to lose haha. I try to control the things I can control (tactics, man management, match prep, etc...) but outside of that there's not much you can do. Also, I realized this reponse may be more than you wanted but I always think it's a fun discussion haha

    • @jacoballison5039
      @jacoballison5039 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker I think you're right. It's probably also common to anyone who manages in the Premier League on FM. It's hard to get players on a level so far ahead of everyone else (especially in early seasons) to expect to dominate game-after-game.
      But also like real life, when things go wrong, it's not always clear if the issue is a tactical problem or a personnel/performance problem. I'm a United fan and well acquainted with this dilemma.

      TLDR: Press conferences give great clues, you should have a defensive version of your tactic against good opposition, and deep block 523 is very annoying.
      So i know it isnt a popular answer but the press conferences can give you a clue if their is a risk of complacency in the squad by asking you about it. when that happens i like to emphasize that we are focusing on not being complacent in the press conference and then i tend to give the players a arms wavy cholo simeone type yelling before the game. i also like to hit the dont be complacent just because we won team talk even if they get sad faces from it. Not sure if it helps but it seems to be better.
      with regards to tactics, when the game warns you about the bad weather, it is useful to not try and be tippy tappy about it and be a bit more direct, unless you use a geggenpress in which case you want the bad weather chaos. Looking at the oppositions predicted formation is really useful to plan how to make adjustments in your tactic to not be stifled, even if your not a full match evangalist. for example, the 343 with the 4 across the dm line is very hard to break down, and common by the AI when faced with a superior and in form opponent. Even if you wait for a patient opening you can just end up with a 1-0 loss or 0-0 because they want to suck you up to hit you on the counter. So sometimes using your forward as a poacher or AF to push their defense back and then try to send runners behind and beyond their defensive line from the midfield will open up spaces for your other players to try to get shots from near the edge of the area, either outside or in. He will have a bad rating, but its because he is being essentially a forward water carrier to try to open up space for his team mates in behind, i.e. doing a jaime vardy.
      with regards to the superior opposition, knowing when you need to play a midblock can help quite a bit, and be careful of mad pressing as they can have too high of composure and technique to be rattled and will just pass right through you. Other times going full klopp can be good if they like to pass it slow, i.e. tika taka or control possession. with average oppo away from home i expect them to have the ball more than me and set up for either a fluid or direct counter style to try to hit them on the break. Cautious is an underated mentality in my opinion.

      Either can work, but going against a back-3 someone has to be the sacrificial player haha. You need to occupy those defenders, so an Inside Forward cutting into 3 defenders may not bring much, but and overlapping run in behind might.

    I’ve got a question that’s kinda tricky though and it’s for the mobile version (that’s what I play currently). It seems the Libero never works on that. I’ve tried all sorts of formations with 3 or 4 in the back and I’ve tweaked team instructions a lot but they just never get forward as a libero should. Any idea what I could do to fix this? Thanks!

    • @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker
      @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker  ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      thanks bud for the comment and support :) I'm not too familiar with the differences between standard FM and mobile FM, but as far as your question is concerned, I will say with a Libero, the area in front of him needs to be free to be effective. The biggest culprit to limiting the effectiveness of a Libero in your tactic is a holding midfielder teammate in front of him. So next time you try the role out in a formation, try using some midfielders that either get up the field or move into wider areas; that should hopefully give the Libero some more room to work. Hope that helps!

      Gegenpress I like to use that high tempo, direct passing style. Get the ball and pass it quick up the field; the trade off with gegenpress is their players will be out of position chasing you around, so try to take advantage of that with the team instructions. No Nonsense roles are also good for getting it up the field quick.
      And yep! usually opponent in possession, pressing them is a good counter.
      If they're in a low block, I like players focused on roaming and movement :)
      hope that helps!

    I ended a lot of games with 20 shots, 10 on target and 0 goal
    It's so frustrating
    The chances are there, so i feel like theres nothing to correct. But the goals are not getting in

      sorry to hear; it's for sure a super frustrating aspect in football manager. I hope to make a video on improving chances in the future if it's any consolation

    hey i have a question i play fm from.version 19 to 24, i play the most in 20 your style is my favorite because one feels like a real manager, reacts during the match etc. But my question is whether in older versions 19 to 23 this style of play works because in 20 I almost never have situations like you, I mean, for example, that your actions look.different your players play through balls, your.players.better.movement make better throws in my 20 most actions are shots from a distance almost no such through balls nice actions as with you I played little in 24 that's why I ask. Fm 24 have a lot.better.me or i dont. know.how to play xD. Greetings

      I play practically identical to you, I have players well matched to the roles, etc, that's why I ask, is it only this style of play that works in 24 or are there other rules in the older versions, although I read on the forums that people played the older versions with little instruction, etc, but I say the most difference is the construction of actions, movement players (players in your game cut a lot of defenders for through balls), and through balls, I didn't see actions like yours in older versions, unless it's because I play the worst team in the 2 English league and I'm betting on being the first to be relegated to the lower league and the players can't do that kind of action, but I guess you don't play some strong teams either.

      @@alfredrobaczkiewicz8559 great question! As far as I know, the styles and philosophies will be able to transfer over to past FM's. However, what isn't in the older versions is the positional play. So I think you'll see less movement, especially when players leave their assigned position. As an example, in FM24, if you have a Full Back push up, sometimes you'll see a Winger drop to cover. You don't see a lot of that in older FM's. That's the big difference
      And always happy to meet another who loves playing this style of FM!

      @@TheDeepLyingPlaymakerLet me tell you, I checked today fm 19,20,21 there is absolutely no positional play, in 22 I start to see good things, players are cutting, looking for free positions, thanks to that through pass appear immediately, Thanks again for the videos and best regards I have a folder of all your tactics :D I took pictures of each video exactly there are 170 of them :D In general I had a problem in 19,20,21 watching the matches of course in full because I always watch in full, I couldn't do good changes of team instructions etc I felt that it doesn't do much, in 1 match in 22 I immediately felt that it works differently similar to you in the videos! Glad I checked it out today I won't waste any more time on 19,20,21 I'll see if 22,23 definitely works as it should.

    Are you ever going to be copying real life managers tactics into the game for when you're running out of ideas?

      I don't know if I'd ever do a 1:1 recreation of manager tactics, but I'd probably do something like the concept or ideals of different managers. I'm particularly intrigued by older concepts from the 70's, 80's, and 90's :)

    Really informative thanks, I will give this a go - usually I rush through matches only viewing key highlights.
    How do you train your players? Since for me they are usually (eventually) 100% adapted to their standard role in the team, changing their role in the tactic will show the "adapted" bar go way back, and the whole team being slightly less adapted to the tactic. I assume the tradeoff between situational role necessity (given the state of a match) hard trumps your player and squad adaptedness to the standard tactic?

    • @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker
      @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Generally for my proper saves I'll have a main tactic that and I'll use that most of the time. And adjust in some select matches.
      And yea, your team does take a hit in tactical familiarity. But it's like you said, there are tradeoffs. I think of it like this: let's say you use your normal tactic that you're familiar with and you've got a 50% chance to win going into a match. Doing sweeping changes knocks you down to a 25% chance to win. But the benefits of adapting to the opponent bumps you back to 50%. So all in all, it's a wash.
      Hopefully that made sense. It at least made sense in my head haha

      @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker yeah that makes total sense. I just struggle changing player roles because "green bar goes down" feels bad to me even if I don't know how bad it is in real terms in the match, lol.

      There has been some analysis on different match factors to win percentage such as player fitness, morale, player position knowledge and team tactic familiarity. In all of the that the team tactic familiarity was the least important factor in the success rate of 2 identical teams playing each other.
