Thanks for the video. Im going to be changing my belts soon. I love my old tri lever . I was very fortunate a friend gifted it to me around 10 years ago and i really dont know how i went on without it. I restore old machinery for a hobby and the old girl is used for all sorts of things . After watching this i feel confident i can change the belts with ease.
Glad it helped Steven Good to hear your hobby is to restore old machinery, and keep them going. Good luck with belt change, I think tri levers are brilliant, some don't get on with them but it's when they don't have the tensioning mechanism correctly adjusted Let me know how you get on with it when you do it.👍👍👍👍👍👍 regards Kev
Thank you I didn’t previously understand the method of tension adjustment. I’m thinking your Derby rather than Yorkshire, Love the Fred Truman accent and the projects I’ve a Sweat pea to finish, also Thank you and good health, from the lockdown capital of the world, 220 days so far since Match12, 2020
hi Ron Thanks for watching and commenting, appreciated. Glad it helped, the mechanism appears to be more complicated that it really is, to people who have never delved in to it. How far are you in to your sweet pea project, ive just finished my metre maid, and now learning to drive it, just had my 4th run out. Your correct with Derbyshire, where's the capital of lockdown then!!!!! Take Care regards mr f
Damn it, changed my belts last week, now can't get the lathe to spin now, so wondering if I have the top pulley off alignment, I didn't adjust the thrust bearing so, so might need to look at that.. Was an easy enough job changing the belts after watching your video, so it must be something easy surely.
Hi TW Were there any shims under the bearing caps, there usually is, and in different thickness combinations so if there mixed up this may be the cause, other than that slacken the thrust bearing and adjust in stages keep trying till you get the correct adjustment, good luck it won't be anything major if it was running okay beforehand. cheers Kev
Hi Mr.F Thanks for the detailed overhaul. As they say 'it's easy when you know how'. I'm getting along well on the bending rolls. They are very sturdy. Catch you later on your next video. Regards and take care. Emanuel
Thank you I now have a good understanding of how the lever system works, and congratulations on the wonderful condition of your Myford . Brilliant for the hobby engineer.
Hello Mr. F, Thanks for this... I fear I will be messing around with my head shock as soon as I find a replacement backgear as I have just seen mine has some teeth missing... whilst I have it in bits I may as well change the belts... and then all should be tickety boo for the foreseeable future. Take care. Paul,,
hi Paul Thanks Good luck with finding one, if you can't find one it will be a repair job. Yes, while its off if the belts are worn you may as well change, don't get stung for the belts though i got mine for £13.30 delivered, had another quote for £40 + VAT + Postage!!!!!!! Rip off merchants🤣 Take care mr f
What ho Mr F, Interesting system, i wonder if they would bothered if VFDs had been about? Personally i hope so, at least if it goes wrong you can see where the problem is on mechanicals. ATB c
Hi Mr F. Great series of videos, really enjoyed watching. Wondered if you could help? My original ML7 headstock oilers are missing the top lever caps and internal plungers. Can’t find anywhere that shows how they look or work. Any chance you could make a short video to.explain their operation. Was thinking that I might be able to make them. Look forward to seeing you undertaking some projects on your lathe. Regards Mark
hi mark thanks for feedback it's appreciated I havn't got time at the moment to do a video but will do one once i have time, i think there is some video's on YT by others, just search (myford oilers) Let me know how you get on, and will help as soon as i get chance Cheers Kev

Thank you too Johan, for watching and commenting, it's appreciated. No special oil really, just a good quality light to medium viscosity oil, the main thing is to clean and oil regularly. Thanks again Kev ( Mr F's W)
