I love it, this is the second time I've seen this restoration and it's perfect. I now have my own Myford and I'm looking forward to having some time to start a project like yours, thank you very much for your work, it's such an inspiration.
Awesome. I just bought an ml7 that needs a bit of attention to the oilers and the apron. Your video's really helped me understand my lathe a lot better. Thanks👍
Four years later, looking at the subscriber count sitting at 101,000 while listening to Geoffrey express gratefulness for 500. lol I am brand new to machine shop work and this video series was tremendously inspiring to me.
Geoff, I’ve been mesmerised watching you work your art on the Myford - as a craftsman myself I doth my cap and knuckle my brow in thanks to you. Best regards Mic of Brechfa Knives - Wales UK
I found your channel on my vacation. Its a very beautiful summer here - which is not often. I have watched now this series, drill press, German ratchets and Land Rover series, out of my precious vacation time. Thank you for these videos - they are awesome.
While sitting here in Jupiter Florida USA on a Sunday in Feb 2019 I binged all of your videos on the restoration of this beautiful piece of machinery ........what a great and interesting project Well Done !!!!!!
I've really enjoyed this series of videos. Stumbled on them when wondering how a Myford saddle is constructed and found them really well edited and entertaining.
Thanks for this excellent series Geoffrey! It was invaluable to me while I rebuilt my 1957 Myford ML7 here in Canada. Looking forward to your next rebuild. You’ve also inspired me to add an iPad as a permanent fixture in my shop to reference TH-cam videos like yours. Cheers! Gord in Victoria
Although I don't plan to restore my Myford 7 as it is in pretty good shape, I did learn a lot from your series. It will be very useful if I ever do need to repair or replace a part. Great job.
What a gorgeous restoration. Your attention to detail, respect for its history, sense of humour and editing skills make this series and your channel so enjoyable. You're quickly becoming one of my favourite channels.
Excellent series. Great photography (no wobbly handheld camera or views of your back and no annoying rock soundtrack) relevant comments and very informative with witty touches. Great work, thanks a lot for sharing it.
Watching your videos, has been a real joy. I am disabled due to a back injury, and greatly miss being able to get out into the shop and work as I once did. Following your progress, as you have returned a beautiful piece of machinery to fine working order, has scratched that itch vicariously. I look forward to what you do in the future. Thank you, and best wishes for the days ahead.
A beautiful and painstaking restoration. A am a volunteer restorer and demonstrator of equipment at a museum in the UK, so I know how difficult and time consuming it can be to accomplish a good result. The Myford takes me back 50 years to my student days when I used a Myford 7 for one project. I look forward to your future projects.
Just finished this series. Man was it enjoyable! And for a new youtube channel, through the roof production quality. I already know I'll be binging the rest of your videos and am eagerly awaiting new series in the future. You've certainly earned my subscription. You may not be interested in this, but I'm sure there are those of us who would love to chip in to a tip jar, patreon, or the like, to help buy some of your replacement parts or human liquid fuel of choice. Just a small way those of who are able can show some of our gratitude to the time and effort you spend. Just food for thought.
That was just the best restoration video series i have ever watch! I really like how you work and how you explain everything! I sure hope to see more restoration soon! :) Keep up the great work!
Nice workmanship, I got same lathe two years back. I was not so luck with wiring on mine. Its shielding was crumbling and dropping off. So converted it to 400v 2/3rds hp motor with a wall control panel. Have left old electrics on the lathe. Just so it can be restored to factory condition. Paint work is pretty nice condition so left it for now. Off out to put to work today. I am total amateur in this world. But enjoy the actual making an designing, And while on that subject Enjoyed the video. Thanks for doing it, and saving that Lathe
Great job you've done on the myford. I have a 4 inch tool room myford from about 1941/42 I bought and got working again. It's nothing like as good as yours, but it's great to get them running again. Best wishes from the UK
Mr Croker Sir Thank you for inspiring me to hunt and purchase my very own Myford ML 7 1952 here in Crazy Durban-South Africa. My restoration project, albeit partial, has been a very fulfilling one with your help of course-Bucket list item number 76 ticked. Keep up the great work....will now definitely subscribe. TH-cam with generous people like yourself have also helped me in other endeavors like black-smiting- leg vice, forge, anvils and tongs found, restored and functional. God Bless Raj Hooblal
Excellent series, I need to repair the back gear mesh on my 1970 ML7. The disassembly & reassembly videos are invaluable. Thank you. Watching from Ireland!
Beautiful work. Your video work is excellent, pulling good focus where it should be and none of that autofocus wanderings that so many TH-cam are plagued with. Thank you for sharing your hard work and passion.
Watching old tools being reborn is so satisfying to watch. Glad you made this channel. I've got some old tools I am restoring too. You've inspired me too pick up the pace. Keep up the good work.
I bought my brand-new Myford ML7 (sixty-eight pounds Stirling if I remember correctly) when I was about 20-years old to make parts for electronic and radio projects. I'm 81-years old now, but I can still remember the touching and fitting of all the parts, and even the smell of the paint! After a couple of years I rented it to a friend for three months , which stretched out to be another couple of years, when he bought it from me for one hundred and fifty pounds. I wonder where it is now.........?
A beautiful result, very well done. The format is good, the editing also and the explanations of any mistakes made should really be useful to someone (maybe me) attempting the same restoration. I've given up trying to explain to my wife why I watch and enjoy this stuff.
I'm so thankful for all you guys that decide to take the time to show your craftsmanship for us! I've been watching many of these step by step guide videos and I really like your work and presentation. The little use of music makes it better viewing and higher understanding along with your voice over explanations. One of my other favorites is "hand tool rescue", he does much the same as you've done here, and it seems he likes your work as well! Thanks for this great series!
Hand Tool Rescue His Stahlwille restoration has been sitting in my recommended list for a month now. Watched the drill press series and was impressed. Recognized the Stahlwille thumbnail and felt dumb for not checking it out sooner.
Hi there. I have just been through this series. What a marvelous job, you have done! I own a late just like that. My late father worked as a sales representative, and sold a new lathe and a welder to some sort of school where they train mechanics. In swap for the new gear, a Myford ML7 and a ESAB MIG welder was traded in. Nobody wanted the Myford so mi dad brought it home, and then nothing more happened. When we cleaned up his shead after his death, i took the lathe home at my place. I miss a lot of parts, among that the complete set of gear wheels to adjust the speed of the apron. And i will have to do the same kind of restoration, that you have done. You have shown the way Mate!
Well done, good onya mate, truly a joy to watch this restoration on a time honoured little machine. You're a Land Rover owner so you must have patience and persistence with a drop of tenacity. Cheers Peter
Mate, what are you talking about? Land Rovers are super reliable… so long as you don’t encounter darkness and rain together… or expect to change from third to second… or travel uphill…
Finally someone who takes restoration of these old beautiful pieces of artwork seriously that was a phenomenal restoration thank you for showing us how it's done the right way please do another we enjoyed watching your work
your skill is bloody awesome. I just successfully won an auction on ebay. A Taiwanese made 70s rip off of myford. I will pick it up next weekend from 250km away remote town. Finger cross to see the condition. Hopefully in good condition and save me some efforts. Thanks for your videos and they are really inspiring me. Regards Cheng from Canberra
What a wonderful series thank you for the effort. I acquired a ML 7 with the intention of refurbishing but the nerves got the better of me, I am a South African, I suppose you could say I "choked" 😁. Thanks to this series I now have the confidence to proceed. Thank you so much.
being a south african seems to me would be diligent, in finishing this lathe to make cannon shells for self defense, or if not, tools for a quick escape, to namibia. Soon fleeing or standing with cannon will be world wide for people of our ethnic background.
Great restoration, just watched the whole series this wet Sunday morning. The paint finish is stunning. Look forward to bingeing the rest of your projects.
Just bought on of these in Oz. It's already been refurbished (not to the exacting standards here) but these videos are a great way of getting to know the thing. Thanks!

With the restorations, machining and the Land Rover your channel seems pretty much perfect for me. Just caught up on this restoration series after watching the instalments of the drill press restoration first, great work on this one and I look forward to future videos.
Myford restoration what an absolutely wonderful job lot of hard work but well worth it in the end especially for such a wonderful lathe like the Myford you should be very proud of your efforts I don't think I would have managed it I think I. would have mixed up all the bits ha ha ha well done young man.
Please, restore that lovely Series you got there with the same attention to detail. It reminds me of the Series IIA 88'' Lightweight my dad used to own. I love that car (and so does he, so he'll most probably get himself one again in the future). Lovely channel, I've subscribed immediately!
I've watched this series and have really enjoyed it. I have an old Kerry Super eight to restore, I should think that much of the methodology you've used in the Myford restoration will be handy! I'm lucky enough to have a near mint ML7 so it's good to see how the inner working work, lubricant points and mitigate wear!
Fantastic Geoff. Am going to miss the updates on your ML7, but all the videos are proving very handy for my restoration. Finished spraying all the parts this evening so perfect timing :-) Looks fab, happy turning!!

I'm lucky enough to have a near mint ML7 so it's good to see how the inner working work, lubricant points and mitigate wear!
Thanks Alec. Good luck with your project.
incredible series. Can't wait to see that land rover restoration
Fantastic Geoff. Am going to miss the updates on your ML7, but all the videos are proving very handy for my restoration. Finished spraying all the parts this evening so perfect timing :-)
Looks fab, happy turning!!
Great, the fun part is putting all the nice painted parts back together.
It's a thing of beauty, looks better than new. Bravo!
Thanks Asvarien!
Such a amazing peice of machinery to be restored and used
This is definitely one of the best restoration videos on TH-cam. A perfect mix of cinematography, explanation, and incredible restoration skills.
Thanks Nicholas, appreciate it.
What a fun rebuild. I enjoy your sense of humor 😊
Cheers Issac
I have really enjoyed watching your restoration videos. Please keep filming them. Very interesting content . Filming excellent.
Absolutely brilliant series.
I have just inherited an ML7 so found this invaluable.
Wow, super cool. Definitely got that old-school vibe.
