    I like that you included the problem with the gluing. Troubleshooting problems or advising how to avoid them is where the real value is for these kinds of videos.

    Thank you for this. Yours is the most practical, realistic video I've seen on this (very common) problem. Further to your video I am going to use your exact approach. Just looking up materials now. Best of luck with the videos :)

    when the adhesives tack off to quickly and strings the between the two surfaces, use a blade to slice through the glue to separate

  • @rohangangar6210

    A few tips:
    1. Make sure to glue and smoothen properly, do not, I repeat do not put the fabric on the glue in one instance. Go slow and make sure you do not have any folds or wrinkles. I have a wrinkle and it ruins the whole look. Trust me, be careful as that glue will not give you any room to remove and re-install.
    2. The B pillars, between two doors, are easy to move if ya need, just pull the two panels back to form a triangle. They will unhinge and the top grey one will fall, later when reinstalling form a triangle and just put them from the vertex straight back in (make sure hinges are aligned).
    3. The lights will not turn on when the screws are taken off so.. don't worry!
    4. Make sure you clean the old headliner COMPLETELY! It is really dirty, I found a rag and your bare hands can work (for mine at least)
    5. The headliner is made of foam so be careful when getting it out of the car, also there will be wires connected with tape at the top un-tape it and you can always re-tape later (the wires are for the lights)
    6. When cutting holes for handles and stuff make sure you make the holes big enough almost as big as the whole since you need to get the screws and bolts through.
    Leave a like if this helps!

      You can use a paint roller to get out wrinkles.

    nice job...I get the impression some makes/models have different 'ceilings'. I have an older Mercedes and I believe it's just fabric that attaches, unlike yours which has the ceiling molding that the headliner attaches to. Anyway, I was impressed with your pretty positive attitude during the whole affair...and it looks pretty damn good...thx for taking the time

    Hey bro or anybody else if you spray it on the hard surface and then spray also on the foam. It will bond better. All you need to do is spray both surfaces wait 5 minutes and it will be good. I use this technique to make costumes. It works great.

    My problem is that the clips and clip mounts break off. And, none of the clips want to line up when pounding the trim back in, breaking off more of them.

    I just called around here for a headliner job. The guy I previously used has retired; he charged $275 in the summer of 2020. Now in 2021 when I called around they were saying 3 MONTHS waiting list and a minimum cost of $500. So it looks like I'm doing it myself, instead of paying the arrogant thieves around here.

    Mine seems like it isn’t sticking like it should and I waited 10 mins for it to dry. Doesn’t look like it’s taking the form of the actual headliner either, any tips or I’m doing fine...

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you let it sit for too long. That stuff is really sticky, and should have no issues with it binding. But if you waited 10 minutes, it probably dried.

    Can you use a rotary wire brush attached to a drill instead of using the hand held brush?? Or is that to rough?

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Tang0Fox1 the drill may be a bit much... You could try it though. Just be careful not to eat into the stiff material of the headliner.

    I'll be honest with you. I replaced the liner when I bought the car used. Now after the hot sun, and 6 years, it's sagging again. But this time... FK the liner, am gonna just paint it with plastic paints or something heavy duty. Liner will just keep wasting away!! The dumbest thing the car industry invented. CARPET ON THE CEILING??
