This is her Magnum Opus! She is a lyrical genius! As alot of hip hop reactors say, "She's a rapper with a guitar..."
    And today's her 35th Birthday. 🎂 Great reaction!!🙏

Liz Rose cowrote All too well and many other of Taylor's debut songs. Actually All too well was the last song Liz Rose cowrote.
In an interview, Liz Rose said young Taylor was so good and clever that she had only to help her sort the lyrics she had already written. She added that she really enjoyed working with Taylor.

Taylor writes all of her songs by herself and even when she has co-writers in a room with her over 80% of the song she already did by herself and they are there mostly as editors. She also co-produces all of her songs and usually keeps a very small team of producers to work on her albums. Taylor's big hit singles create a very incorrect image of her an an artist, she usually picks the most vague radio friendly stuff as singles and keeps all the good stuff on her albums. So to get a hype around Taylor i would listen to one of her albums. In my opinion her albums Red and The Tortured Poets Department are the best to showcase who Taylor truly is an artist - writer with profound deep and introspective lyrics, singer with a very emotive expressive voice, and a very versatile artists able to fit in any genre you throw at her.

I think you will like her Reputation era in terms of genre. I recommend "Ready for it" "I Did Something Bad" "Don't Blame Me" and "Endgame". I recommend you watch the live version of "Ready for it" of the Reputation Tour. Look for "Taylor Swift- intro + Ready for it Reputation Tour" also "Don't Blame Me Reputation Tour"

"why did that chorus part lowkey give me chills?" because it's All Too Well 10. The story is that she came to rehearsal crying one day and instead of starting to rehearse she started to play the piano and sing THIS. her band joined in while this flowed out of her. when she was done, her mom went over to the guy at the sound board and asked if he happed to have been recording. YES. he did. with very little work it became ATW10, and with a lot more work it was cut down to 5 minutes.
One of my favorite songs is My Tears Ricochet (Long Pond version). It's about the betrayal of her old label head (who was a close mentor to her through her career) who not only refused to sell her the rights to her first 6 albums, but sold the label with her album rights to Scooter Braun, who had been cruel and gotten other stars to join into the cruelty. It was a record exec selling rights to another record exec rather than to the artist, but also a very personal betrayal. Taylor spoke out about the betrayal and was scorned for whining about a standard business deal. Standard business routinely screws over the artist. Taylor turned it into a hauntingly beautiful song.
My other favorite song is FLORIDA!!! with Florence and the Machine. insanely good.

You like Ye because he’s a poet, so…
If you’re a fan of poetry, it doesn’t matter who’s delivering the verse. Real recognize real, right? She’s a poet. People say she a rapper with a guitar. She plays the 6 string, 12 string, electric, banjo, piano, dabbles in drums, writes all her music, produces it, writes and directs her videos, sends Christmas presents to her fans and visits sick kids in the hospital. Honestly, is there anything she doesn’t do? The love for her is real, because she’s real and really talented. Great reaction! ✨💜✨

I’m a 44 year old woman been married 23 years and this still hits home for me. I haven’t felt that level of heartbreak in decades but lord when I hear this 10 minute version I might as well be 19 years old and sobbing my eyes out over an older guy that played me the same way Jake played Taylor. This song is timeless and gut wrenchingly beautiful.

Thanks, Justice! You gotta check out 'INTRO + READY FOR IT "...and you will not be ready for it. It's how she opened her Reputation Tour after everyone tried to cancel her due to the Kayne & Kim scheme where they edited the video to make it look like Tay was lying. She wasn't, and boy did she clap back. In the Intro you hear actual comments made by the media. She gave those 'reporters' front row seats. 😆

Her best Era is up to the listener as she has so many different sounds; Folklore, Midnights, and TTPD are my favorites. Reputation is a LOT of people’s favorite.
The 1989 into Reputation back to back was so amazingly jarring though to go from light/sarcastic pop into the darker tones of Rep.
Reputation is the post-Kanye/Kim phone call and the ‘TS is over party’ hashtags and Kanye fans spamming her social media comments with snake emojis until she had to turn off the comments and she disappeared for a year and out of nowhere came back and dropped Reputation in a post that said “There will be no further explanation, there will just be reputation”
    Song Recs by Album
Folklore: Cardigan, Exile, Invisible String, and Hoax
Reputation: Endgame (Ft Future and Ed Sheeran), I Did Something Bad, Don’t Blame Me (great live version from Rep tour worth a watch/reaction), Getaway Car, and Dress (for some sexy Taylor).
Lover: Death by a Thousand Cuts, False God, The Archer
1989: Style, Clean, Wildest Dreams, Now That We Dont Talk, Is It Over Now?
Midnights: Lavender Haze, Maroon, Vigilante Shit (do lyric version before live version; it’s about her catalog being sold out from under her to an absolute skeeze), Midnight Rain
TTPD: imgonnagetyouback, thanK you aIMee (it’s about Kim K), Down Bad, loml, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, The Prophecy, The Black Dog

Throwing in another vote for Into/Are You Ready for It Live from the Reputation Tour, followed by I Did Something Bad, also from the Reputation Tour. That’s how they were played on the tour, and that album - Reputation - is her response to the Kanye/Kim drama. Both songs are lyrically fantastic and will blow any remaining preconceived idea of TS clean out of your mind!

Taylor has written or co-written every song on all her albums. She wrote the entire Speak Now Album by herself at the age of 18-20 just to prove critics wrong that she couldn’t write songs. She was the youngest person at age 14 to have a publishing contract to write songs for other artist in Nashville. She is a lyrical genius! She is the only person to win a Grammy for Album of the Year 4 times for Fearless, 1989, Folklore & Midnights.

It's cool when people come in with an open mind to listen and try to understand "the hype" as they usually do get it, even if her music isn't for them.
She's a songwriter first and foremost and has said she wouldn't do what she does if not for that. She was hired as a songwriter by Sony music publishing in Nashville when she was 14! She uses her song writing as a diary and so a lot of her work is very personal, but far from all of it is about break ups.
Over time she's crafted her other skills through hard work and practice. She's a grafter. Her singing, playing of guitar and piano, her dancing, producing of her music, directing her own music videos, all to ensure her vision for her music, through her albums, videos and tours are hers.
She said if she's going to fail she wants it to be on her choices and her vision.
She's also a really savvy business women, having turned the tables on the music industry on multiple occasions, figuring out where they gain profit from their process and taking control of it herself. That's how she's made her billions, but also she's very careful to respect everyone who contributes and makes a point of looking after her people from her band, dancers and backing singers to the truck drivers on the tour.

It's important to note that not all of her music comes from her personal experiences. Everyone seems to believe the music video and lyrics for You Belong with Me are based on Taylor's life and that's not true. She wasn't the one hoping to date a football player. She spoke about Death By a Thousand Cuts in her NPR Tiny Desk concert. The lyrics came to her after a number of her friends went through breakups and she was reading about breakups, and I think she saw a great show about a breakup. It's another haunting song that is NOT about her personal life. Folklore and Evermore have some personal to Taylor songs such as Marjorie about her grandmother, but mostly those albums are based on imaginary characters, regardless of what some fans believe.

you should definitely check out some of her other music. you'd be surprised. most people are.
this is an amazing song - if you can actually put yourself through the 10 mins again.. theres an "all too well the short film" directed by taylor and it really paints the picture of how the events happened and means so much more when you can put visuals to the story.
she writes almost all of her own songs and always has. definitely worth checking out more of her stuff.
"reputation intro + ready for it live" would be a great place to start. then maybe "end game ft. future and ed sheeran."
great reaction! :) i admire you for actually admitting it's good. a lot of people can't bring themselves to do it - and just picture old taylor when she was singing country songs with an acoustic guitar. she can pretty much do and has done any genre now. great job! :)

Yes, the main trait of Taylor is that she writes her own songs. She even says that she's not a singer who writes her own songs, she's a songwriter who sings what she wrote. That means that the main thing for her is the lyrics, it has always been 😊

  • @sarahgray6157

The best era of Taylor is highly subjective and she's made fantastic music at every stage. She doesn't have a bad album and there are very few songs that could be considered filler or should've been cut. But what you like depends on your genre tendencies, where you are in life, and what mood you're in. Just know that this woman has somewhere around 230+ songs spanning from when she was 15 to now being 35. She's solo-written or co-written every one. Her songwriting is her foremost craft and what has always made her worth listening to.

The reason why it hurts her that he broke up with her because of age is she know damn well he will date someone as young as her in the future. It was never because of age, he was being a hypocrite, the line “i’ll get older but your lovers stay my age” which happened to be true.

The best Era for Taylor is the closest to what your own age is. Her fans have been growing up with her going through the Eras with her, so it's so relatable to what's going on with people her own age. I'm 50, and I never really got into her music real deep, just knew I liked what I heard, but when I heard TTPD, omg, did I relate to so much of what she's gone through. It's made me go back and really look into her music. Maybe you should start at 1989 (the original version and then Taylor's version, because it's more mature) and move forward from there. If you have kids, start them on her first album. Let them grow up with her too.

Yes, he broke up with her because she "was too young," and that made her want to die because it's BS. He already knew her age, so that is not a real reason, and he chose something she couldn't possibly change. It's a common tactic older people use on younger ones. He likely did this to multiple girls. Make it seem like it's their fault for being younger when he's the one who chose to date them.

She writes all her own songs. It’s rare to have more than two people in the writing credits on her songs. Her lyricism is phenomenal and has only gotten better over the years. For storytelling, try the folklore album. The Reputation album was her comeback after the Kanye/Kim drama. She’s not very nice about them, so if you’re a Kanye fan you may want to start w something else, until you’re hooked. Midnights is a great album too. You kinda need to know her to appreciate the brilliance of Tortured Poets Department.

If this songs lyrics catch your heart, you need to dive into her newest album, TTPD. That album has gut-wrenching lyrics.

You should listen to "The Manuscript" from her newest album (The Tortured Poets Department). It's a look back at this song/relationship now as a 34 year old woman. (She just turned 35 a few days ago.)

You really should listen to the lyrics in her song “so long London.” If you life fire lyrics. React to that one. It’s on her new album TTPD.

Which era is the best era.. all of them, all the eras! Different eras have different styles, different qualities. I’m listening to different eras at different times and depending on what I’m looking to hear in the moment.
And yes, she writes ALL her music (and others)

Look at the body of her work. She wrote all of it unless she had a co-writer there with her. I can’t imagine what her phone notes look like 😂

I didn't count how many times she said "I was there etc" in the outro, but i can almost guarantee she sang it 13 times.
13 being her lucky number, but it's also been 13yrs since it happened right?
Because she rerecorded this at 32yo, the same age he was when he dated her.
It also fades out gets softer each time representing each year that has passed.
So even after all this time, he still hears it, just not as loud.
OMFG I think it was 13 times 🤣🤣🤣
    She's a savage man 😅

The story behind this one is that Jake (30 ish) dated her (20 ish) and broke up with her because she was ‘too young’. However, it’s now almost 15 years later (he’s like 45 now) and he’s STILL dating 20 something women!
She writes all her own lyrics, although sometimes with help. The entire ‘speak now’ album was self written out of spite 😂. And I personally think that the current era of Taylor is best - she’s constantly evolving and she gets better every time imo.
She’s often said she writes her best songs about the worst men. Yes, she *really* loved him , and she does such a good job of capturing the pain. I love this song (one of her best ever) and your reaction was great :)
