  • I thought I'd take a moment to record while working on a client project/bag pattern prototype to show you the method that I came up with for welt pockets that has no visible zipper tape inside the pocket and does not use a facing for installation.

    Thank you! Thank you! I’ve watched dozens of videos for this task and don’t like the exposed zipper edges inside the pocket. You have solve the problem. This is a real game changer for me. Thank you so much.

    Thank you for this tutorial. It is very well done. I clean my sewing space after each project because it gets blown up every time! That is why I love my own area.

    What a beautifully tidy pocket/zip! What machine are you using? And what foot did you change to? I have a new industrial, but haven't been brave enough to change the foot...Thanks for your wonderfully clear instructions!

      Hi! I'm using the Juki DU1181-N. It's a compound walking foot and my main bag making machine. I switched to a zipper foot. I'm happy to help you anywhere I can!

    This is a great way to do these! (Although I may have to buy shares in a DST company!) lol I don't know how to add a photo to a comment or I would!

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do use quite a bit of DST. There are areas where most people clip that I just DST it and sew. lol

    Beautiful, do u cut the zipper front by hand or on a circuit cutter, I have a scan n cut and really need to learn how to use it to cut, zipper facings and connectors xx

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I cut this one by hand, but I do have an SVG for it. I just didn't want to pull the Cricut out for only this simple cut.

    Great video! Thanks so much. What thread do you like to use in bag making?

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use a bonded poly thread. You can find a link in the description of the video.

    What size and brand of DST are you using? Love this video!!

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The DST I use is scotch brand in the 4mm. There's a link for the online shop where I get it in the description box. She has it in a few different sizes. I usually keep a couple sizes on hand for different uses.

    Great job! Thanks for sharing! What is the name of the lining fabric?

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!
      For my linings, I like to use waterproof canvas. This particular one is Ottertex WPC from Fabric Wholesale Direct.

    Did you just place the DST around the outside of the box you drew?

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I drew my box, cut my center and up to the corners, placed the DST around the outside of the box, then folded the cut edges out over the DST to hold it in place.

    What machine do you have. I desperately want an industrial but I just don't know what to get.

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The machine I'm using in the video is the Juki DU1181-N.

    What size material did you cut to go around the zipper?

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me it will vary from bag to bag. This particular one is 1.5" tall, by 11" wide. The opening for the zipper is centered and is .5" tall by 10" wide.

  • @diedre20020
    @diedre20020 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are you using a #5 zipper

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am. It's almost all I use now.
