Except these 2 stroke nitro engines won't ever get any extra filling in the cylinder, the exhaust port is the last one to close, meaning whatever you try to force in the cylinder always escapes. In other words, your "boost" is always being blown out the exhaust port. So it's pointless from a performance point of view.
Two strokes, especially multi cylinder ones are almost impossible to boost. People always point to snow machines and water craft but I think the complications with isolating boost from fighting the bottom of a piston as much as it helps the top of a piston makes it a temporary benefit at best. A nitro motor is kinda doing all it can do already. Especially one without rod bearings or piston rings.
add to that : no lubs on bearing ? no wesgate ?no kooling ? and look how much the fan is shaking this can not work its just a turbo looking fan turning free with exauste gaz , a cool looking gadget without any other effect than cool looking :)
You need the expansion chamber for a 2-stroke to assist in intake and exhaust through the ports. Bolt the turbo onto the end of the stinger of the tuned pipe.
Tune according to temp. Get a temp gun. I've been out of nitros for a bit, but I would tune mine to run 230 degrees. Old school way spit on the head and if it boils off 3 seconds or less to hot.richen up. As long as you see a decent steady smoke coming out you should be fine. When these things sit and idle they will load up with fuel. As far as transmission there is a grub screw in there with a ball and spring to adjust when it shifts. Poke around you'll see it. Out shift sooner. Tighten to shift later. If to loose it will start in second. To tight it won't shift out of first. Hope it helps. I started out with a redcat tornado bb.

Word of advice by temp gun to monitor temp most rcs run 200 230 on good tune but if u want it to stay running ditch the turbo it's cool but it's novelty you'll never get it to run perfectly it gonna only run good on full till there's just not enough adjustment on the stock carb also u need to have the tune pipe those motors need it to run proper iam not a expert but I've done about everything to one through past 35 years and out of 40+rcs I only have 3 nitros any more just got to be a hassle and burning up motors aren't cheap anymore u want more power go with bigger engine will get a better results but after super charger turbos and nos was best and 40 plus motors u get a better results not to discourage anyone but there not designed for force induction now the bigger aviation planes and motors that's little different but u better have big pockets keep up great work and have great day.
Possible lack of air at top end. If it's sizzling your at the lean side. But the balance between fuel & air mixture may be off. What's the diameter of carb verses the turbo. I would make sure the intake on turbo & carburetor measures the same. Hope this helps.
If it's running too hot it needs more fuel as the fuel is what gives it the cooling. If it's an SH engine they aren't the best and can be a PITA to tune. On some cars the wrap around clutch can drag quite a bit which can cause it to cut out. If you run a faster idle this can help even though it means the car will be trying to run away all the time but it will stop it cutting out. You should be able to hold the brake on without it cutting out
It’s getting hot because it’s too lean on top, and it’s too rich on tge bottom. The glow plug is only used on startup to heat the combustion chamber. It really needs that tuned expansion chamber pipe to make power

I suggest perhaps making a new downpipe & face it down, I can imagine fuel/oil sitting in it bc of the blow through, needs a way to escape my guy. Have you tried flipping it over after a run to see if any spills out the dp/exhaust??

I have two tk-10rs. I have the first generations and one from stuff they were experimenting with. They actually don't build any boost. There was a man that modified one to build boost though.
Need an expansion chamber for the engine and get a temp gun to help tune the engine! Obviously leaning the engine out will make it run faster but will also lean it out and make more heat!
Not bad but definitely work on your exhaust pipe . Not making any more power but looks cool . And i remember correct with the two speed transmission screw need too turn it in to tighten the spring. Basically when the gears are turning it will pop the lock bar in make the second gear get the power . So i would turn it all tue way in amd then back it out 3 turns and then start her up and do a on the stand test and you should hear it shift
First make sure to get the Engine hot before start atleast 200*F so you can Start Tuning the High speed needle lean it one Hour each time until you reach high Rpms that will solve your transmission shifting aswell Transmission clutches open up at a certain Rpm Second once you got The High speed needle Settled you move onto the low speed needle one hour at a time leaning it out once you get the Snappy bottom end Turn the Low speed needle clockwise 45 degree and low speed needle should be set it also make sure you have 1mm of Throttle Opening on the carb .
You should add a mini bike NOS kit the c02 ones, set it to purge to the turbo inlet. You can add a servo to activate the NOS, a quick 2 sec shot should not hurt the engine but a 10 sec spray will kill it
My advice would be to return high speed, low speed and idle back to default factory setting. Then run her up n down a bit n start tuning with just the hig speed. Once thats runnin ok, fine tune with the low speed and then bring down your idle... U want plenty blue smoke
Because of the sound I think, the two turbine wheels (intake / exhaust side) are not connected wich each other. So the exhaust and the intake flows are simply rotating the paddle wheels.... ;)

try to find a air filter the car could be loosing prime I noticed excess air in the fuel lines this should intern create positive vacuum if that is a true turbo, and the exhaust goes back into the engine through the carburetor in this case, and you’re going to have to run it rich because under full boost, it’ll lean out to the proper ratio honestly, I have had a few nitro rc’s I’ve never had great luck with them, but this is my limited knowledge small sidebar a rich nitro engine will last longer a lean nitro engine will be slightly faster I believe you’re running your Car lean nitro’s are a lot closer to diesels than they are gasoline the fuel is the lubricant. verses on a diesel, the lubricant is the oil, but there’s lubricants in the diesel fuel to keep the injectors from just destroying them selves
Also a carburetor that isn't designed for a "blow through" application is going to have a hard time keeping up with fueling. Especially under load where boost pressure in theory will increase more, therefore creating a higher fuel flow demand without the carb being setup to have a jet reference for this situation.
Hi cool vid, I did notice that the blue carb fuel feed line has air bubbles in it and dripping fuel, also if a nitro engine runs for a short time then stops on overheating then probably at the end of its life 😉
So it’s already got a ton of air so you need to pump the fuel faster and atomize it so it has as much fuel as air, there needs to be a balance, that’s why cars are tuned
Hsp looks like a hpi rs4 nitro clone. You may be able to look up parts and or clutch adjustment. I have a rovan 5b which is a hpi 5b clone and the parts are interchangeable.
You have three set screw for tuning. One is idle adjustment, one is top end and one is lower end. Have to tune them all. Your leaning out top end by the look of it but the lower end is too rich by the look and sound of it

The tuning window is much smaller and less forgiving than a 4 stroke, but still works great especially with EFI and properly sized fuel systems. Skidoo and Polaris are both now offering factory turbo systems on their 2 stroke snowmobiles with full factory warranties. I own one and it's amazing!
Hey I don't know if you know this about nitromethane but if it's raining out or you're close to water or ocean has a big effect on the tuning makes it run really rich just so you know those are things to take into consideration so if it's raining you're definitely going to have to change some settings is Nitro cars are badass they sound cool but I don't have the energy for it anymore I don't know that's just me like I told you before they make a great centerpiece for the coffee table and I had a supercharger kit for mine as well the belt was an O-ring looked cool what did not work at all
So watching it die and you pulling fuel over and over, I am wondering if it is having issues mixing intake and exhaust. You gotta figure, the turbo isn't really a turbo when it comes down to it so I doubt it is sealed on the interior so the exhaust gasses could be going back to the intake. Try pulling it off without changing anything else and see how it runs?
It's entirely more likely that the carburetor isn't setup for a "blow through" design. Meaning it has no boost reference and jetting to compensate for atmosphere pressure increase in the intake. Under free rev notice it's fine. Once it's under load, boost pressure increases, therefore creating a higher fuel demand that the carb simply doesn't have a reference to compensate for. Look up "blow through carburetor"... I'm old and been doing this a long, long time. Since before fuel injection was on cars 🤷🏻♂️

But it's a $30 keychain that is most likely a fancy whistle that may not only be boost leaking like crazy but also forcing bad air back into combustion. One idea to check would be to take the turbo off, blow through one side while plugging the other side to see if it is holding any kind of pressure.
don't know if you figured it out yet on top of the trans there is a hole should have a flap over it.that the adjustment for the 2 speed.it ' easy i have 2 of them there a blast.
The time and then the way that transmission work have a lot to do with your RPMs can adjust. We're not thing is properly tuned that thing should be snapping and moving you have to research how to adjust the shift points I'm not tranny so much I have forgotten anyways best of luck to you
You tune a Nitro Car with a temperature gun. As a rule, if you hear fuel sizzling in the crank case after shut down it's too lean. I would be very surprised if any turbo a person could buy that small will do anything but restrict airflow. Boosting intake pressure would be a surprise to me but I've been wrong once before.
Did you ever think that maybe the turbo is restricting the are being that it's so small I know ASE certified mechanic but maybe it is a restriction. I think it's cool as hell I maybe that the problem.. the motor naturally aspirated Ken probably pull air faster then the turbo can pull through those little tubes.. food for thought have a good night buddy
With my nitro when I would hear it sizzling it was because my glow plug was bad and it wasn’t tight enough so fuel would come out where the glow plug is
Nitro engines do not benefit at all when it comes to this type of technology. The only thing that happens is that they blow through more fuel because the pressure (if that thing even produces any) pushes the air/fuel mixture into and right out of the combustion chamber. And...... you got rid of the tuned pipe. The pipe DOES increase the power of a nitro engine and it also is a part of the cooling of a nitro engine.
Probably doesn’t help that with the exhaust pointed the excess oil runs back into the engine instead of the exhaust. I bet if you turn it upside down oil will run out.
I think you should research 2 stroke engines. You have basically detuned it. there is a reason you don't see turbos on 2 strokes. All you are really doing is blowing fuel mixture through the motor and into the turbo, doing no good for adding power. And by taking the expansion chamber off you have removed a working supercharger.
Yes your expansion chamber is the heart of the whole system that's where you get your power bands from it's like an instrument take that away I think you should leave the turbo on but Hollow it out and make it as a showpiece because from my experience when I tried to supercharge my Nitro car it just did not work very well these engines have transfer ports and expansion chamber's you can modify Pistons skirts change the timing you can do all kinds of cool tricks to these motors but you just have to understand how the expansion chamber and the transfer ports and all works as well so little difference in a 4-stroke or regular motor
How would that be possible it’s impossible you’ll get any boost. You cannot boost 2 stroke engines because when the piston sucks in fuel mix the exhaust port is also open so if you tried to force air (turbo or supercharged) excess air will escape through the exhaust port. What you’re doing here is just putting excessive air with no room for fuel to combust properly this is why it will bog down or turn off
Turbo's and superchargers are only working on 4 stroke engines if you have one with more cilinders ' you can use more turbo's and connect them . Carburators i dont like ' its better to build an air / fuel injection system like the the tractorpullers have ' with a valve for throttle and injectors for giving fuel in the intake .
No ' they will not work ' maybe they think they work ' but i doubt it. Polaris can do what they want ' on small two stroke rc engines it will not work .
I just saw the skidoo turbo kits . They only work with ecu. But i still doubt it that they work on small rc two stroke engines. I tryed it many times with home made prochargers ' only thing the engine did was getting very hot ' and rewen the piston. I even tryed it with cooling ' like water injection . I bought 2 of those turbochargers like this guy here use . I will use them like a set on a multiple 4 stroke engine . If all go well i can get lots of boost ' so i need to adjust the heads of the engine ' and put stronger valve springs in them ' and make a manifold with methanol injection ' and valve. Then i will use 4 turbo's ' and then we will see if the power is higher then the stock engine. If you want to see more ' then search for Dingo tractor puller ' then you see the turbo setup i will use

Yes early systems used a blow through carburetor setup, these worked but were usually very finicky to tune. The tuning window on a 2 stroke with boost, yes there are supercharger kits used too, is very narrow compared to a 4 stroke. The setups have become much more reliable nowadays with EFI, extra injectors and properly sized fuel systems. So much so that the 2 major manufactures offer them with full factory warranties. I own one and it runs amazing. You generalized and said "boost" only works on a 4 stroke, all I did was point out that that is in fact false and give you an example. Now, whether or not this guy can make his little nitro RC engine with a key chain turbo run right is another story. I applaud the the guy for trying anyway.
Move your fuel pressure port on the exhaust to the exhaust header, before the turbo. The drill that cork out of the exhaust! Right now your restriction restricts flow through the turbo, and your turbo is the exact restriction you need for fuel pressure. And the restriction the porting needs, unlike that idiot suggests! 😂
It will never run properly without a expansion chamber ,turbo looks cool but probably a waste of time, it might be a cheap rc but it still needs the same Nitro tuning principles 😊😊

you can adjust the shift point on the transmission.
Whether or not its faster or slower you should really do a power comparison for with or without the turbo.
Think of putting a turbo in your car just smaller so think smaller, like is there enough fuel compared to all the air getting pushed in?
Just think. Nitro fuel makes its own air

There is no scream from the turbine, and the air entering the engine is not pressurized and does not work.

Maybe to ensure a good air to fuel mix do a video on making a mini carbeurator or coding a mini control unit for air to fuel ratio

You should put a Foxbody Body on that thing!

I would be very surprised if any turbo a person could buy that small will do anything but restrict airflow. Boosting intake pressure would be a surprise to me but I've been wrong once before.

100 percent its lean you added more air throwing off the fuel air mixture long as its got some smoke to the exhaust you should be safe.
Did you ever think that maybe the turbo is restricting the are being that it's so small I know ASE certified mechanic but maybe it is a restriction. I think it's cool as hell I maybe that the problem.. the motor naturally aspirated Ken probably pull air faster then the turbo can pull through those little tubes.. food for thought have a good night buddy

RB Innovations tried this about 10 years ago but did not work on nitro engines but the nitrous did !!!!
With my nitro when I would hear it sizzling it was because my glow plug was bad and it wasn’t tight enough so fuel would come out where the glow plug is
Nitro engines do not benefit at all when it comes to this type of technology. The only thing that happens is that they blow through more fuel because the pressure (if that thing even produces any) pushes the air/fuel mixture into and right out of the combustion chamber. And...... you got rid of the tuned pipe. The pipe DOES increase the power of a nitro engine and it also is a part of the cooling of a nitro engine.
The 2 stroke needs the expansion chamber of the tuned pipe, to help with scavenging.
Probably doesn’t help that with the exhaust pointed the excess oil runs back into the engine instead of the exhaust. I bet if you turn it upside down oil will run out.
Probably why you’re hearing sizzling and why it’s bogging out.
I think you should research 2 stroke engines. You have basically detuned it. there is a reason you don't see turbos on 2 strokes. All you are really doing is blowing fuel mixture through the motor and into the turbo, doing no good for adding power. And by taking the expansion chamber off you have removed a working supercharger.
but it looks cool… and honestly this nitro car is just a novelty, a cool shelf item lol all my electric cars are faster and wayyyy less hassle 🤘🏼
Yes your expansion chamber is the heart of the whole system that's where you get your power bands from it's like an instrument take that away I think you should leave the turbo on but Hollow it out and make it as a showpiece because from my experience when I tried to supercharge my Nitro car it just did not work very well these engines have transfer ports and expansion chamber's you can modify Pistons skirts change the timing you can do all kinds of cool tricks to these motors but you just have to understand how the expansion chamber and the transfer ports and all works as well so little difference in a 4-stroke or regular motor
With 2nd gear the thing would have been really bad!

How would that be possible it’s impossible you’ll get any boost. You cannot boost 2 stroke engines because when the piston sucks in fuel mix the exhaust port is also open so if you tried to force air (turbo or supercharged) excess air will escape through the exhaust port. What you’re doing here is just putting excessive air with no room for fuel to combust properly this is why it will bog down or turn off
Turbo's and superchargers are only working on 4 stroke engines if you have one with more cilinders ' you can use more turbo's and connect them . Carburators i dont like ' its better to build an air / fuel injection system like the the tractorpullers have ' with a valve for throttle and injectors for giving fuel in the intake .
Not true. Skidoo and Polaris both offer factory turbos on their 2 stroke snowmobiles. They are amazing.
No ' they will not work ' maybe they think they work ' but i doubt it. Polaris can do what they want ' on small two stroke rc engines it will not work .
I just saw the skidoo turbo kits . They only work with ecu. But i still doubt it that they work on small rc two stroke engines. I tryed it many times with home made prochargers ' only thing the engine did was getting very hot ' and rewen the piston. I even tryed it with cooling ' like water injection . I bought 2 of those turbochargers like this guy here use . I will use them like a set on a multiple 4 stroke engine . If all go well i can get lots of boost ' so i need to adjust the heads of the engine ' and put stronger valve springs in them ' and make a manifold with methanol injection ' and valve. Then i will use 4 turbo's ' and then we will see if the power is higher then the stock engine. If you want to see more ' then search for Dingo tractor puller ' then you see the turbo setup i will use
@@martinstouten6662 People have been running turbo's on 2 stroke snowmobiles for 15+ years starting before EFI like today. It's nothing new. Yes early systems used a blow through carburetor setup, these worked but were usually very finicky to tune. The tuning window on a 2 stroke with boost, yes there are supercharger kits used too, is very narrow compared to a 4 stroke. The setups have become much more reliable nowadays with EFI, extra injectors and properly sized fuel systems. So much so that the 2 major manufactures offer them with full factory warranties. I own one and it runs amazing. You generalized and said "boost" only works on a 4 stroke, all I did was point out that that is in fact false and give you an example. Now, whether or not this guy can make his little nitro RC engine with a key chain turbo run right is another story. I applaud the the guy for trying anyway.

You're exhaust needs to be change its to high so you have that used up oil that is still staying in the system it need to escape

Move your fuel pressure port on the exhaust to the exhaust header, before the turbo. The drill that cork out of the exhaust!
Right now your restriction restricts flow through the turbo, and your turbo is the exact restriction you need for fuel pressure.
And the restriction the porting needs, unlike that idiot suggests! 😂
It will never run properly without a expansion chamber ,turbo looks cool but probably a waste of time, it might be a cheap rc but it still needs the same Nitro tuning principles 😊😊
its running terribly because it has no exhaust it just has a pipe. its supossed to have an expansion chamber
