By the way all the vocals in the song are him. The deep bass, harmonies & higher harmony. I saw this live. It's amazing. There are live version on you tube. He loops the deep hum. When you see him live he will always do the lower harmonies and it just vibrates. His music is so beautiful & soul touching. Please check out "Otherside" which shows his higher range & his new song "It knows me"...in all his music it's him doing all the vocals. Live he has his band singers and it's great as well. Kevin says Avi has the unique ability to hear sound spacing & placement...Thanks for the reaction & explanation.

    Wait... did somebody say AVI?!
    😆 You're so funny!!
Wow, I wasn't expecting this reaction and I'm glad you did it 'cause I admire this guy's talent so much. I like and second your appreciation for low/deep voices (even though my favourite singer is a tenor, but this is another story...) Your analysis was interesting and I actually turned on the subtitles because I didn't want to lose something (English isn't my first language) Thank you! I'd like to suggest you his brand new song "It Knows Me", it's a good one. Thanks again! 🙂

There is a live version of this on TH-cam (looks like it was recorded in a small club.) Another group you should react to is Acapop! Kids. This is a new ac capella group put together by Scott (from Pentatonix) as well as a few others that they've worked with. They only started releasing videos a few months ago so there aren't many out. I'd recommend 'High Hopes' or their queen 'Bohemian Rhapsody/Somebody to Love' medley.

  • @jeancaldwell5391

I love the power in Avi’s voice in the beginning. He isn’t singing loudly, but so much control and power. Avi was on tour when COVID-19 Hit and it became obvious that large groups were an invitation to spreading the disease. I believe I attended his last concert, in Phoenix, before he and the other musicians touring with him decided to cancel the rest of the tour. Just before he announced the cancellation they all went to TH-cam Space and recorded several of the songs from the tour and his new EP. You can see the whole mini-concert, but he has also done Official Releases of several of the songs individually. It’s a great opportunity to react to a live performance. He has also posted some music recorded at home, with just him and his guitar. The past several Saturdays he has done live chats around noon ET on various formats. Of course he also sings a few songs too. I’d love to see you react to any of them.

The one thing that most singers ( I think ) miss about this version is that the only instruments in this is like the one kick drum and a brief section of an organ. Avi tracked the backing to this vocally .....that is pretty much ALL him ....those massive bass drop and slides in the backing track are Avi ...he is an instrument almost as much as a beat boxer ...as well as an amazing vocalist. ( pretty sick range too)

Not sure if anyone mentioned this before: Avi is a trained/schooled? Operasinger. Another thing he does is overtone singing. He broke the sound systems at several occasions. Do you know Tim Foust from Home Free? He can sing as deep as Avi but is also brilliant in the higher range. At "ring of fire" from Home Free, Avi is a guest so you can compare them.

LOL!! You're dealing with fanatic addicts here on your pronunciation perfectionists. You want guaranteed death threats try saying you don't like something about Pentatonix music. They'll hate you forever, even if it's true.
Hope you note, all the background harmonies are him as well. He sang (or hummed) all the parts and multi-tracked it. Some ears aren't tuned for it at first, but through most of it is a very deep descending slide. It's what gives the hollow sound to the whole thing. That's him as well, of course, but if you get a chance to listen to the theme song for the movie Blade Runner 2049, Wallace version you will hear that same descending slide. That's our Avi as well, hired to do that while still with Pentatonix.

If you want even more seriously low notes, check out Tim Foust (pronounce the ou sound as in ouch). He is the bass singer for Home Free, them and Pentatonix are my acapella loves 💜💛💜💛 (with some Citizen Queen and Acapop! Kids sprinkled in). Tim’s low notes in Home Free’s cover of Man of Constant Sorrow will make your ovaries threaten to explode (at least, they do mine!). Tim also collabs with Peter Hollens for a cover of Misty Mountains from Lord of the Rings. And if you look closely, the very last note actually makes the camera vibrate slightly 😱😱.
The sheer talent in Acapop! Kids is phenomenal. Their age range is 8-15. Their cover of Into the Unknown really pulls at my heartstrings, I love it so much. Another one of theirs I love is Bohemian Rhapsody/Somebody to Love.
Citizen Queen are a 5 piece all-female acapella group. Soprano Nina, mezzo-soprano Hannah, alto Kaylah, contralto Kaedi and beatboxer Cora - she is also an amazing singer, check out their cover of Bad Guy. But I would first start with their Evolution of Girl Groups video. And their cover of Never Enough. That one makes me cry every time. Hope I’ve given you some food for thought!

Many of his songs have a unstated, and yet oddly blatant Christian meaning. The lyrics are really profound and simple at the same time. His songs are lyrically and musically crafted in a very primal and imaginative way. This is so appealing on every level. And the voice is magnificent. I think that maybe Avi is from someplace else. . .

Hi Laren, I love when you make fun of the Trolls ( I was laughing out loud with you on your intro) . Can't use the additional adjective when describing Pentatonix I guess. (ha ! ) and thank goodness you are now pronouncing Ave correctly ( lol good lord , how can so many people be so foolishly petty? Just sayin ) I had a woulda , coulda question for you. The female in Pentatonix (Kirsten) did a video with an ex fiance and a very sophisticated A Capella group from Florida called
Voctave. If I could pretend to put you in the center of this song , let's say for a performance somewhere, how would like ? Would you be able to enjoy it at all or would it be an arduous task ? The reason I ask is it is more of a pop format and your background is Oprah,.which is extremely disciplined. My gut feeling is that for you to sing in a pop would probably not be a stretch. I am guess here. I was just curious as this is very well done and just be part of that has be gratifying at some level, even if you are an Oprah specialist,. Thoughts ? Here is that link, I would describe Voctave as a rather well accomplished and extremely well arranged A Capella group. They are not beginners. See what you think.. th-cam.com/video/zLMeDUBKmBs/w-d-xo.html
