    Here's an updated foot workout and stretch video :) This one is a bit more ballet styled and includes a few more of my favorite exercises. They are gentle exercises and stretches you can do everyday to improve your foot flexibility and strength as well as prevent injury and improve your posture, balance, and health overall. Maintaining healthy feet is crucial to your mobility! Take care of your feet, they do a lot for you :)
    If you're here just to improve the look of your feet for dance, that's fine too! Nicely pointed feet will lengthen your lines! Having good arches for dance comes easier when you have the right genes for it, but that doesn't mean you can't improve the look of your own feet. My feet would not be nearly as good if I didn't work them out and stretch them every single day. I have worked hard to improve my feet and have always been keen on having higher arches for ballet. But please be careful, don't overwork them.

    The anatomy of your feet is pretty amazing. They look almost more like hands than feet at times because of the way you're moving them. Pretty fascinating.

      freddybeer I know there are excercises, and they do work at improving flexibility, etc (I used to be a dancer), but although they did help a great deal, I just don't have the genetics to get them where I wanted-- short of breaking my feet intentionally, lol! Thank you, though, for the tip!

      +Videoprosuperstars You shouldn't feel bad. Feet are full of muscle, ligaments, and tendons that can pull the bones when you exercise them in certain ways. When I was a kid I had really flat feet. They hurt all the time. I exercised them a lot and they're a lot better now.

    • @mulchuepfer
      @mulchuepfer 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +BrainToMush Are you honest to yourself? Maybe you improved a bit, but in general it's a question of the bones in your foot - how they are shaped.

      +mulchuepfer I definitely have arches now when I didn't before. They aren't high arches like some people have, but I don't have constant foot problems anymore like I did years ago.

    Lots of comments about how beautiful her feet are - and they weren't kidding! Perfect toes, slender high arches and those legs look like they could kick a guy through a wall! I thought ballet made girl's feet look awful? These look toned to perfection!

      I used to dance and have several friends who do dance, and it depends on how well you take care of your feet. If you dance a lot en pointe or are just beginning your feet will blister but if you wear a specific jelly like half sock it cover your main bones in your pinky toe and big toe preventing blisters or bruises. Hope this helped and also if you wear regular ballet shoes you should not have any blisters.

    • @freddybeer
      @freddybeer 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't do ballet. I'm a guy who doesn't do ballet, lol! But that's interesting. Can you wear something now that will prevent the more serious damage? I guess so many years on your toes will result in some sort of consequence......I take it you really look after YOUR feet, Madison? Lol! If you didn't tell a person, could they tell by looking at your bare feet, that you danced?

    • @SmittenKitten.
      @SmittenKitten. 9 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      freddybeer She's right, it depends on how well you care for your feet, and if you dance a whole lot, you care less about how pretty your feet look out of pointe shoes than in them. Her feet are absolutely lovely though, agreed!

    • @freddybeer
      @freddybeer 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Do you do pointe, Kitten? It seems a shame so many things girls LOVE like ballet and high heels absolutely DESTROY their feet! I mean, there's only so much you can look after them, right?

    • @SmittenKitten.
      @SmittenKitten. 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      freddybeer Not anymore, I'm afraid (although I wish I had kept up my dance training!). You're so right about the destruction of feet! I love keeping my feet pretty, it's actually quite important for me, but yes, there is only so much one can do, but really, a little care goes a long way. Haha. :)

    So glad to find a second foot stretch video of yours! It seems like no matter how much I work on stretching them out, they still get super cramped when I scrunch my toes in (kind of like you're trying to make a fist with the foot)...I just counter-stretch them to combat it, and keep repeating, but it's frustrating how much rehab they seem to need.

    Will this make my feet stronger for walking/running? Because my feet tend to hurt so I was wondering if this would help lessen the pain as well while making my feet stronger.

    • @BalletLisa
      @BalletLisa  9 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      FunnyFaceJenny I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure as I don't know what kind of pain you are experiencing and I am not an expert haha but yes it believe it will help with that. Will strengthen various parts in your foot like your arch and toes used for walking and running... I hope that will help lessen your pain. I would suggest rolling out your feet a lot as well before and after you go walking/running. :)

    • @somefuckstolemynick
      @somefuckstolemynick 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would say yes, lots of people have stiff and weak feet from using only modern shoes (look up the barefoot running movement if you haven't already) which immobilized and supports the foot way too much. These exercises might actually be a really good way of training your feet to cope with the strain transitioning from a modern heal strike to (what in my opinion is better) a forefoot strike. I would be a bit careful with the stretching though, people dancing ballet have quite impressive and extreme flexibility in their feet, and that much really is not necessary for running, it might actually be detrimental. But you won't get that flexibility over night of course, it probably requires months or even years of intensive stretching, but it might be a good idea to just keep it in mind. And also, try just walking around barefoot as much as you can, it's really good for your feet! :)

    • @trumpetmama82
      @trumpetmama82 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with the barefoot running movement BUT, unless the runner has very good Achilles flexibility, it can lead to forefoot stress fractures.

    • @somefuckstolemynick
      @somefuckstolemynick 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Louise Furukawa Yes, a person starting with barefoot running really needs to start carefully to let the body adapt and build up sufficient strength in all the relevant muscles and tendons. It's really really easy to get hurt if one switches to a minimalistic running style without drastically reducing their normal running distance, and increasing it gradually.

    Greetings. I'm coming over here as a martial artist who practices an art which uses toe kicks (Uech Ryu). I knew to look here as many of my students through the years came from ballet. They obviously had great training.
    This is a wonderful video; thanks so much for it. I must admit a guilty pleasure of being mesmerized by great technique and wonderfully developed physique.

    I'm a guy, but I'm totally jealous of your amazing feet! So soft, like baby feet and no tensions at all. I suffer from overpronation and since I haven't exercised them (thinking it was futile) since I was a teen, they are totally stiff, in the muscles.
    I think you could easily suggest this training program to _anyone_ who cares about their feet, since it's a vital part of your body, like people couldn't think of. So, not just exercises for those who are into ballet dancing. :)
    I fell in love with this video. Of course, it was partly because of your feet and legs, but the exercises are so natural and great.

    though i was thinking that some of these would help for my chronic plantar faciaitis -- i can not help but be awestruck on how much flexibility, strength and control a dancer must have just in the feet, just amazing thanks for the post and eye opener and yes a lot depends on the feet -
