Good video and great cameras too, congratulations to Ailish for passing her test. I failed my 3 mock tests but learnt so much from them and passed my test last week. I’m now so nervous driving on my own but a friend sat with me and will keep going out til I build my confidence with it.
Congratulations on passing your test. Take your car for just a wee run round the block yourself, that'll build your confidence up. When I passed my test, I just went round to the local Co Op a couple of times. Then I went to Peebles (8 miles up the road) It did take me a while to get the confidence to go out alone in the car. These days I prefer to be on my own!
I passed my driving test a few years ago first time with only 2 minors. Shortly afterwards l had a crash which wasn't my fault. I ended up losing all my confidence with driving and sadly gave it up. Currently watching these mock test videos and it is helping me to feel more confident and determined to get back to driving, Thank you Advance Driving School for these brilliant videos.
30:39; why a driving fault for giving a left signal when going ahead at a mini-roundabout? It is the first exit and she is helping the oncoming red car by confirming where she is going.
Because it’s wrong! The Highway Code says that we should not indicate when going ahead, except to leave the roundabout. Making up our own rules could confuse others - in that case others might think she is stopping, or taking that driveway on the left.
Really good video with excellent context throughout it helps me as a learner to get my skills to better level, well done to ailish for passing her test good job well done to you keep the videos coming there a great watch.
13:18 when was this filmed? Only I practice in this carpark regularly because it's very near to my house!!! Are examiners using it on actual test routes?
Thank you for detailed videos.I passed my test today .My advice would be get familiar with local test routes so you will be confident.Always look out for Stop sign.Creep out for better view .
Advanced Driving School. At 20:16, it is the instructor who's wrong on both counts. The pupil did take the "second exit" as he instructed on the roundabout. And it's not sign posted either!
@@AdvanceDrivingSchool The point is, "Bury St Edmunds" is the "first exit", and the driving instructor called it the "second exit", as I already indicated earlier at 20:16. This must have confused the learner driver into taking the wrong exit.
No - there is a small exit marked at 9 o’clock on the sign, so Bury is the second exit. We have checked with the local test examiners and they treat this roundabout the same way. 👍🏼
If the road was clear then maybe - but since there was traffic ahead and it wasn’t worth overtaking before our exit I didn’t think it was worthy of a fault.
Well done Ailish for sharing your mock driving test with positive feedback and pleased you passed the real test. I’ve been watching your many driving videos clips for a number of years and impressed by the quality of fleet of cars driven. Which car gives you the most driving pleasure? These cars seem to be light, fun and engaging. I passed my driving test after the third attempt in the early 90s driving a noisy diesel powered Nissan Sunny with heavy steering and gear changes. Matt, do you recall which car you passed you first driving test? 😊
5th driving fault at 30:33 , she was taking the first exit but that was straight ahead and indicated left ! I think it was correct but don’t know why she got a minor for that ?
The Highway Code says that when going ahead at a roundabout we shouldn’t indicate before the roundabout, and only signal to leave. Therefore indicating left before the roundabout was incorrect, so a minor / driving fault was given.
Good Luck, just keep calm and tell yourself " I can do this" Don't stress if you think you've done something wrong. If they make you do the controlled stop, don't forget to check over both shoulders as well as ahead and in the mirrors before moving off and when reversing keep on checking all directions and over both shoulders.
We use TomTom for lessons and mock tests, so it's similar to the real test. All test routes start and finish at the test centre! Watch our mock tests for routes you can practice 👍🏼
In 30:28 video my instructor said i need to indicate to help other driver that i'm going ahead straight ahead 1st exit. I never thought its a driving fault
The pedestrian was visible long before we got to the crossing. The fault was given for unnecessarily braking suddenly with a car behind. It would have been safer to continue driving.
Ailish knew she had failed the mock test when she had to brake suddenly at the zebra crossing. I think that she must have known this and it led to the other mistakes. At least she passed the real test. Congratulations to Ailish for passing just a week later.

When a sat-nav says 'turn left' it doesn't always mean to take the next road on the left. There are often other roads before the turn we need to take - so use the sat-nav's screen to help guide you.
We should only do that when absolutely necessary - there is usually a better way to help the emergency vehicle that doesn’t break rules and cause danger.
I'm glad to hear its not your preferred method too, its rather sloppy to see people learning and driving in such a casual way, Full and proper control at all times should b a must it was when i passed my test 2 decades ago @@AdvanceDrivingSchool
She is driving way too slow 25/30 and 45/70. Why haven't you marked her down for this? My examiner has failed me for this. There were a lot of bends on road.
It all depends on whether the speed is appropriate for the road / conditions / hazards nearby. Don’t ever think that the speed limit is some kind of target. On clear straight roads in good weather we should ensure we drive confidently and keep up with the flow of traffic, but we must slow down for tight bends / hazards etc. Just drive at whatever speed seems safest for that situation. 👍🏼

Have another look at the sign at 20:27 - we needed the exit marked for 'Bury St Edmunds'.

25:39 on the dual carriageway (A14) would she get marked down for driving too slowly?
If the road was clear then maybe - but since there was traffic ahead and it wasn’t worth overtaking before our exit I didn’t think it was worthy of a fault.

My driving test is booked for a Friday at 12.38 hoping the traffic will be light 🤞🤞
Mine is at 9am, hoping there's lots of traffic
8:00 doesn't stop though
13:50
Why does he keep asking to pull up?
Why would you stop there?
On a real driving test you will be asked to stop at the side of the road at least 3 times, to see if you can do it safely.
In 30:28 video my instructor said i need to indicate to help other driver that i'm going ahead straight ahead 1st exit. I never thought its a driving fault
We don’t agree. Indicating left when going straight ahead might trick others that you are turning into a driveway or stopping.
@@AdvanceDrivingSchool thank you for this
Amazing, God bless truly!
5:50 So she stopped suddenly for someone who appeared suddenly and she fails 😒
The pedestrian was visible long before we got to the crossing. The fault was given for unnecessarily braking suddenly with a car behind. It would have been safer to continue driving.

I’m confused at 4.51 the satinav said at the roundabout turn left then turn left but the road to the left said no left turn
When a sat-nav says 'turn left' it doesn't always mean to take the next road on the left. There are often other roads before the turn we need to take - so use the sat-nav's screen to help guide you.
Can we stop in the bike lane in case of an emergency? For example, when the ambulance or the police come
We should only do that when absolutely necessary - there is usually a better way to help the emergency vehicle that doesn’t break rules and cause danger.
@@AdvanceDrivingSchool that is, if there is no bicycle in the back. If the ambulance is also coming, we can stop. Thanks a lot. Is it right?

It’s not our preferred method of steering, but if it doesn’t affect the car control it won’t be given a fault in a test.
