    These videos and videos generally are so useful knowing beforehand what you need to do and know, only had 4 lessons so far and on roundabouts, was in a much quieter area and turning left and right before, but so much to think about especially in more busier roads and coming onto a roundabout and having to slow, hoping it all comes together. I am a worrier generally, so I hope things gel

    Even though I passed my driving test a year ago in a different country, I still find these videos on the UK driving test very interesting for some reason.
    I do wonder though, in the UK, when parking, are you allowed to look at any sort of parking assist related items that may come with the car? Like looking at the backup camera with the guide lines etc.

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, we are allowed to look at the cars rear view camera - but we can’t rely on it, so must continue to look around the car for nearby hazards. The only thing we can’t use on a driving test is ‘auto park’ systems!

    14:50 when you leave the dual carriageway.. How do you know that road is the national speed limit? I was looking out for signs but didn't see any.. If there is no sign to indicate speed after leaving a road, do you assume it's the same?

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The national speed limit applies everywhere, unless we are told there is a lower limit. So when we leave a dual carriageway (with a 70 limit) we must know that the speed limit will be 60 on the single carriageway road. There won’t be any signs, as we are still in a national speed limit area 👍🏼

    at time 4:04 you break suddenly without checking any back or side mirrors; of course I understand that you were focusing on the safety of the pedestrians crossing; but when a learner does that might fail him for that is that fair?

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you watch again you'll see me check the centre mirror at 3:59, so I already knew what was following us. The traffic light was green at all times, but even so I started braking as soon as the pedestrians started to cross the road, and ensured the crossing was clear before I got there. Anyone on a real test would be fine if they reacted in that way - what alternative do we have if someone walks in front of us?

    I wonder if it would be considered a fault to set the cruise control @72 mph, to account for the speedometer showing a bit more than the actual driving speed?

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool

    Very good drive, quite a few unnecessary gear changes though I.e third to second but then having to select first, in effect the third to second is a guess in hoping that is the required gear, better controlled braking can remove the guessing.

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just like to use the extra ‘engine braking’ that 2nd gear offers when driving at low speed or when approaching junctions.

    • @laddie-1479
      @laddie-1479 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You misunderstand, I’m referring to when approaching a hazard and selecting 2nd gear but you don’t use it to drive because you have to wait, you then have to select 1st to move away so the change was unnecessary I.e the gear didn’t control your speed as you were already braking nor aided you in any way.

    At 3.40, the driver should have stayed on the left side to go straight as the left lane had straight marker . Am I correct?

      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The road markings at that roundabout show that either lane can be used to go ahead.

    What gear ideally should you go round a roundabout in? In my parents car, I go round in 3rd but my driving instructors car I go round in 2nd so just wanted to know which was better.
    Great video, helped a lot. Hoping to pass test after the lockdown is lifted and driving tests resume.

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That depends on a few factors - but really whether the roundabout has good visibility or not. If we can't see very much, approach in 2nd - but if we can see that it is clear then we might use 3rd on larger roundabouts. This video might help: th-cam.com/video/8NeJZFiMwzQ/w-d-xo.html

    Good Evening.
    I have been watching your TH-cam videos when you use your manual vehicle and I wanted to see if you can give me tips on turning left and right .Whenever I approach roundabouts I always tend to find myself doing well with lifting the clutch up with gear selected beforehand while not approaching too slow but when it comes to turns I either brake too late with lifting clutch up before turn or too early with lifting clutch a while back from turn.I used to coast quite a lot but I wanted to change that so I watched TH-cam videos on downshifting but I just can’t grasp it fully with approach speed and gear selection on turns.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Brandon Haslett

    i have my test on 15th of september, and i have some problems with downshifting. In your videos u just skip gears when u downshift, like u go from 4th gear to second, but in my lessons the instructor taught me from 4th to third to second and so on. But i get very stessed. ehen i am like in 4th gear and i have quickly to stop . So any advices coukd be welcome. Thanks

    Hi I’ve got two questions regarding ADI test. Can I drive 30 mp on national speed limit roads?
    Can I put on sunglasses while on test?

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don’t need to drive in a particular way for the ADI part 2 test, or even the standard learner driving test. Just drive safely and you will pass. Sunglasses are fine if you prefer to wear them. Drive at whatever speed is safest for the road / weather / traffic level - the speed limit is not a target, only the maximum speed allowed.

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool

      On a normal learner driving test you are allowed 15 driving (or minor) faults. The test to become a driving instructor is harder, with only 6 driving faults allowed.
