Even though I passed my driving test a year ago in a different country, I still find these videos on the UK driving test very interesting for some reason. I do wonder though, in the UK, when parking, are you allowed to look at any sort of parking assist related items that may come with the car? Like looking at the backup camera with the guide lines etc.
Yes, we are allowed to look at the cars rear view camera - but we can’t rely on it, so must continue to look around the car for nearby hazards. The only thing we can’t use on a driving test is ‘auto park’ systems!
@@meaw1999 We use the cruise control whenever we are in a fairly hazard-free area and want to maintain the same speed for some distance - which might be 30, 50 or even 70.
14:50 when you leave the dual carriageway.. How do you know that road is the national speed limit? I was looking out for signs but didn't see any.. If there is no sign to indicate speed after leaving a road, do you assume it's the same?
The national speed limit applies everywhere, unless we are told there is a lower limit. So when we leave a dual carriageway (with a 70 limit) we must know that the speed limit will be 60 on the single carriageway road. There won’t be any signs, as we are still in a national speed limit area 👍🏼
at time 4:04 you break suddenly without checking any back or side mirrors; of course I understand that you were focusing on the safety of the pedestrians crossing; but when a learner does that might fail him for that is that fair?
If you watch again you'll see me check the centre mirror at 3:59, so I already knew what was following us. The traffic light was green at all times, but even so I started braking as soon as the pedestrians started to cross the road, and ensured the crossing was clear before I got there. Anyone on a real test would be fine if they reacted in that way - what alternative do we have if someone walks in front of us?
Excellent videos. Just one observation. May I ask why you chose to hold up your hand on two occasions to keep the sun out of your eyes, instead of using the sun visor? One was whilst pulling up on the side of the road, which involves steering input and is safer with two hands on the wheel.
@@AdvanceDrivingSchool How do you find the ST as a learner car? I'm a PDI and considering using mine as an instructor car. Are you willing to share fuel costs per week and what insurance costs to expect?
The ST was a fun learners car! The engine was great (difficult to stall and plenty of power) and it did about 40mpg on lessons. However it had a very firm ride and the alloy wheels were very vulnerable. It’s retired from lessons now, but we still have it. 🚙👍🏼
I checked my left blind spot as I was moving to the left, in case of any traffic joining from the slip road. There was no need to check the other blind spot in that situation - and actually neither of us did it.
Hey, cool video. Can you tell me how do you affix those - Camera: GoPro Hero 8 (x2) & Hero 7 Black (x3) in the car. And by the looks of it you have one filming behind driver, one through windscreen, one footwell and one dashboard? right? Thanks for you answer in advance
I wonder if it would be considered a fault to set the cruise control @72 mph, to account for the speedometer showing a bit more than the actual driving speed? I just recently passed the instructors individual driving test here in Latvia, so it is interesting to see how it is in different countries.
You would probably get away with it - but why risk it? There is no rush to complete a driving test, so don’t think you need to drive right at the speed limit everywhere.
@@AdvanceDrivingSchoolIt’s dangerous because by you turning your head at a high speed who is looking ahead? I understand you turning your head when you are moving off. But on a dual carriageway? I thought thats why you have your side mirrors and a slight look 👀 to the right yea but a full shoulder turn.
If we have a safe following distance to the vehicle in front, it is safe to look to the right for a second - it's no different from checking your mirrors or your speed. If we don't check before changing lanes we could miss someone in our mirror's blind spot and put us in danger of a huge accident. This video explains further: Changing Lanes Safely: th-cam.com/video/eRTAxottBkY/w-d-xo.html 👍🏼
Very good drive, quite a few unnecessary gear changes though I.e third to second but then having to select first, in effect the third to second is a guess in hoping that is the required gear, better controlled braking can remove the guessing.
You misunderstand, I’m referring to when approaching a hazard and selecting 2nd gear but you don’t use it to drive because you have to wait, you then have to select 1st to move away so the change was unnecessary I.e the gear didn’t control your speed as you were already braking nor aided you in any way.
I would like to see her in the driver's seat and let me have the test done on her. I bet that she will have just as many faults or even more than anyone else's. No one is perfect. We have to admit it.

In your videos u just skip gears when u downshift, like u go from 4th gear to second, but in my lessons the instructor taught me from 4th to third to second and so on. But i get very stessed. ehen i am like in 4th gear and i have quickly to stop . So any advices coukd be welcome. Thanks
You don’t need to drive in a particular way for the ADI part 2 test, or even the standard learner driving test. Just drive safely and you will pass. Sunglasses are fine if you prefer to wear them. Drive at whatever speed is safest for the road / weather / traffic level - the speed limit is not a target, only the maximum speed allowed.
On a normal learner driving test you are allowed 15 driving (or minor) faults. The test to become a driving instructor is harder, with only 6 driving faults allowed.

Hi I’ve got two questions regarding ADI test. Can I drive 30 mp on national speed limit roads?
Can I put on sunglasses while on test?
You don’t need to drive in a particular way for the ADI part 2 test, or even the standard learner driving test. Just drive safely and you will pass. Sunglasses are fine if you prefer to wear them. Drive at whatever speed is safest for the road / weather / traffic level - the speed limit is not a target, only the maximum speed allowed.
Can you use the cars own stat nav, or does it have to be a old style one you attach.
The examiner brings their own sat-nav - as they have the test route pre-programmed 👍🏼

Only 5 minor mistakes allow? 26 june is my test date at 9 will be very busy in my town. Dont know what gonna happen.
On a normal learner driving test you are allowed 15 driving (or minor) faults. The test to become a driving instructor is harder, with only 6 driving faults allowed.

Sorry but that’s too far from where we live. Maybe your instructor could film or drive one with you?
