    This is a really good scanner, I have this exact model.... I was able to program a push start keyless keyfob with no issues and took about 10min, So this scanner is capable of programming key fobs and keyless fobs for who ever is looking to get one.

      I have a 2017 ram with push button start. You think this could program it?

    Fantastic! My wife's 5.7 Aspen has been having some issues that could be pointing at the PCM as well as my Journey that needs a new key programed. Looks like the D8 is in my future. Great video, sent here by ScottRods.

    Thank you!! Dart is different, but your tutorial helped me and now I have deleted the key from the previous owner (they can’t find), programmed two from Amazon and paired the old key as well!

    Nice!. When I got my Xtool, I was worried I might also need the key reader tool @$500, but that is just for cloning keys. So you would use that if you had a shop and a customer came in without their vehicle. Happy to see how easy it is to program new keys.

      Agreed, cool to see that it can rad the pin. On newer Crysler vehicles that has the SGW, there would be a few more steps.

    That’s the same reset method I had to use for my 86 BMW 335 ES, I had to leave the key in the on position for an hour

      Had the same issue with rabbit GTI - the problem was with fuse - the pins was dirty. Just replaced regular fuse with new absolutely nothing was wrong with old fuse…. Crazy but it solved the problem….

    I have the d7 and can program keys to this truck also but can’t do it for 2013+ can you check if yours can?

    • @solargarage
      @solargarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I will need to order some new keys, but yes once I can get some new fobs I can try on a 2016 that I have.

    • @Hugolopez732
      @Hugolopez732 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@solargarage that would be great if you could do it, it just go in and see if you could read the pin before you order them, because I have a d7 and used to be able to pull PIN codes for a 2013 ram 2500 and a 2015 ram 5500 that I have but can’t anymore, they took that feature off the d7 with an update they did.

      @@solargarage or just hook up the scanner and see if it lets you pull the pin

    • @solargarage
      @solargarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry for the delay. I updated the D8 with the latest software for a Dodge and the D8 does not have the option to read the pin on a 2016 2500 that I have. I then went to a 2012 1500 and it does and can read the pin just fine.

      I can't speak to the D-7 as I do not have access to one, but it does look pretty close to the D-8. The specs on the D-7 does list key programming as an option.

    • @DogGuy19
      @DogGuy19 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The D7 can do it. They have also done a biig update for the D7, giving it a lot of the D8s special functions/

    Good video showing what buttons to push on the D8 to make it work ... but ... there's no video of how to program the FOB/KEY. Do you plug it into something somewhere (how do you plug in a FOB) or scan it with something, ETC? I'd really like to SEE how a KEY or FOB is actually programmed in addition to what buttons are pushed on the D8. Thanks

    • @solargarage
      @solargarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For these style of fob's they get placed into the ignition switch and the fob is then use to switch the ignition to the on position. The programming/pairing of the Fob with the vehicle is done by the D-8 and the security system in the vehicle, while the fob is in the ignition switch.

    • @rogwinkler1230
      @rogwinkler1230 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@solargarage Thanks for the reply however your post "For these style of fob's they get placed into the ignition switch" does not answer my question "HOW do you plug in a FOB" and with no video showing that process I can't grasp how it works. Thanks anyway.
