      Did you bend the tips of the brake pads? Some people say you should bend them but some people say not necessary

      Just make sure every time you take it out of the salt water before you store it that you rinse the trailer brake and disc that's really good that's going to make it last a lot longer

      @@OutOnTheReef Thank you!!!! Capt. One last question - what wheel bearing grease do you use on the EZ lube hubs and how often do you replace it? I am using the blue Lucas Marine Grease and replace it in the middle of the season and end of the season and before our major trip we take yearly.

    Just watched your video and thanks for the tips. However, never use antiseize on the caliper bolts. They can and will back out. My son did this on his brakes and he learned the hard way.

    Those Stainless Steel pins require Loctite only per the manufacturer. Also they should be Torqued to 40ftlbs. Never use anti-seize unnecessary especially if doing a yearly inspection.

    Most people in S. FL running their trailers without brakes. I didn’t want to run that liability, so installing electric brake kit I ordered last year. Currently had surge but wanted to try this out, lets see if it lasts at least a year lol.

      i know the brakes are very important to avoid a accident and im sure ir will last you a year just wash them with fresh water often cap.

    You forgot to lub your insert under your caliper bolts. Very important step. That is the reason one pad isn't worn

    Great video! I’ve heard ceramics not good for boat trailers? Is this true. In your experience? More heat? I hate how much dust my organic stock pads create. Trying to find solutions and was leaning to ceramics

    hi captain i always wanted to install same for my trailer but soon i will once all things with covid 19 settle down since there is no shipping now from US to UAE. i think its better to paint the calibers to keep rust away and to give sanding to disks. stay safe

    I have the exact brakes as you. The same thing happened to mine. Only one side same one as yours. I went to the others and I could Pop them all apart. Deemaxx brakes have stainless steel pads that are only about $20 more for a pair. Your replacement you installed is going to be bad again very soon. Next set get the stainless backed pads so you can hopefully go few years instead of only one like we both did.

      i could not order them i went on the web and saw them but websites ware scammers in 2 cases so i gave up and just purchased the safe for now but i will love to find them, if you have a link please share it with me thanks👍👌

      capitan cada ves que yo tiro el trailer en la marina le hachaba agua pero con esto del civid cerraron el agua y no puedo flusharlo ,,,,,lo que estoy haciendo ahora es con una botella de dos galones que es una bomba con spray le hecho agua co el producto de salt away y por lo menos no lo dejas con sal los frenos

    Coje los Calipers lo lijas y los pintas con buena pintura resistente al Moho.
    No se si la vista me falló, pero veo que el liquito de frenos esta bastante sucio, eso le resta mucho la capacidad a la hora de frenar. No vendria mal hacerle un Flush al todo el sistema de frenos. Saludos Cap.

    The manufacturer recommends putting loctite 262 on those bolts. Isn’t anti-seize the last the you want on those bolts if the manufacturer says to put loctite on them? Just curious. I’m not a mechanic

      it helps them later if you need to removed them again they don't get locked in

      @lching7491 lol cap. You will do fine and wile you wait for your pads to arrive put some w-40 on those bolts so that way os easy to remove, just a tip.

      To know the size of the pad you need to measure the drum or called Continental with your serial number

    My trailer is less then year old, I take extremely good care of it but lately I’ve noticed some of the rims getting hot after a trip when normally they are no more than warm. Is there something I should be lubricating or cleaning on these brakes, mine appear to be in very good condition and I can’t understand why they are heating up sometimes.

      One question captain you think the bearings may need some greasing cause that could be also why the rims getting hot

      @@OutOnTheReef good consideration but in this case I can smell the distinct smell of burning brakes and it’s intermittent. my bearings were also recently serviced, I’m quite certain it’s the brakes and I feel like they are just not disengaging as much as they should. I’ve never liked trailer/surge brakes for that reason.

      @@OutOnTheReef You can do some research, I know the Wheel Bolt Pattern is Ford. Weve put Ford Ranger Rims on 5 Lug Trailer Hubs.

      I dont have a link but look at google unde Dee Mexx disc pads and you will see the yellow one the reason I don't have a link it's because I bought them at a local store

      Open the reservoir of brake fluid and you have to force them out but be careful you don't scratch the disc too much , hope this works cat let me know if it did👍👍☕

      It's a good idea, but they were pretty old already and Rusted

      My rotors are rusted, is it okay to just replace the pads itself and maybe sand the rust off the rotors?

    That is terrible in one year did you call the trailer builder. I’m gonna check mine cuz my wheels lock up if it sits to long. You might want to get wheel locks so you don’t come in and your trailer is up on blocks
