I've had a similar issue with my helmet in the past. Adding a hidden plate over lapping the bottom edge of the visor onto the padded lining does wonders.
This is exactly it. I was one of the counters during that portion of the night, I was on counting for strike landed by Daniel. Brett did a good job and moving his shield to intercept many of the strikes during the match.

Personally, I think if your gorget and aventail are insufficient, that's on you.
I think the issue with throat protection is in the shape of the helmet. It's deflecting the strikes downwards.
