In the wake of Redfall, Xbox has been on a lot of people's minds, and not exactly for the best reasons. Let's talk about it. Follow me on Twitter: / thencsmaster Sub to Bearded Banter Podcast: / @beardedonebgn
That Phil Spencer interview was just such clown mentality. The idea that losing 8th Gen to Sony put them in some unrecoverable position is stupid when you consider Nintendo... the REAL losers of 8th Gen due to Wii U, were able to come back strong with one of their best selling systems yet. And hmmm... how did they do that exactly? With g a m e s. Yeah the hybrid gimmick was extremely enticing and helped the Switch's strength... But games like Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, and the like boosted its cred exponentially. That's Xbox's problem. Outside a few decent exclusives here and there... there's nothing to entice buying their hardware as much anymore. They have to fix that, or settle being behind unless they get very lucky.
Even if I’m not an Xbox fan myself, I can 100% agree with this vid. One thing Phil Spencer said that I largely disagree with is that “people don’t buy consoles for the games.” While this might be true for like the average joe who only plays games like CoD and Fifa, for dedicated gamers™️, what attracts them over playing on PC is the console exclusives. Nobody would buy a PS5 or Switch if they weren’t constantly delivering big, critically acclaimed games, but they most certainly are. Last year Nintendo dropped Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Splatoon 3 and TWO Pokémon games, and Sony had Horizon Forbidden West, Stray, The Last of Us Part 1 and God of War Ragnarok. Whereas all Xbox had last year was High on Life, Pentiment, Tunic as a timed exclusive, and uh…well, that’s actually about it! Which are solid games, but definitely not huge Triple-A system sellers. And this year Nintendo and Sony have huge upcoming sequels to some of their most beloved games with Spider-Man 2 and Zelda TotK, while Xbox had Redfall, which was a disaster by all means, and so now all that they’re riding on is Starfield. So tl;dr, Xbox definitely need to get their shiet together if they want to remain relevant in the coming years for this console generation.
I mean, I own a PS5 and a Switch, and even a Steam Deck now. I’d consider getting an Xbox if they actually had exclusive games I wanted to play. Any third party games I could just play on my PS5 already, so that’s not a factor. That Indiana Jones games? Looked cool, but we haven’t heard shit about it in 3 years. Same with that Wonder Woman game, Fable 4, Perfect Dark, etc etc. no information about ANY of them in years. Sony’s PS5 library isn’t great, but at least I know Spider Man 2 and Final Fantasy 16 are coming this year, like damn. To say that Good Exclusive Games don’t sell consoles is just wrong. EDIT: Also, “Good Exclusive Games don’t sell consoles”? *Laughs in Nintendo*
I’ve been on Xbox for a long time and even I can agree that despite the Series X/S being a decent upgrade, there’s not much incentive around it aside from making certain games from the One locked to 60 fps and perform better than it did previously So little Series exclusives
I know Sony got hammered on due to the mediocre disappointment known as Forspoken in the beginning of 2023. Though, to be honest, that’s more the fault of Square Enix.
I think a problem with the Xbox is that they’re trying to make the Xbox into a second windows pc and seem to not realize or care that that’s not what people want an Xbox for and that’s not why people like the Xbox cuz if people want something that’s basically a computer they can just get a computer
I guess this aged like milk cause Xbox made a good turnaround that showcase was really great!! Fable, Avowed, Cyberpunk 2077 phantom liberty, Hellblade 2, Clockwork Revolution, Hi fi rush got a new update too and also starfield got my attention now so im ready for that as well!

I'll never get over how the best Xbox game released in years was shadow dropped for $30 with little to no marketing. (Anyway, play Hi-fi Rush.)

Coming to this video nearly a year later, and the ouch that was Starfield being mediocre makes Microsoft's position even more precarious.
I know Sony got hammered on due to the mediocre disappointment known as Forspoken in the beginning of 2023. Though, to be honest, that’s more the fault of Square Enix.
Well...this has aged either well or poorly according to who wanna see it
Hmmm, idk guys, i feel like he's trying to tell us that this is not a hate video, not 100% sure yet tho 🤔
I gotta preface with how hostile console fanboys are LMAO
