    Speedy train on my bucket list. Pretty good price for top class, but economy looked good, and for only a 30 minute ride, not sure I'd splurge. Nice perk on getting better seats on the feeder train. Alan travels with a first class woman, so he always goes first class!❤

      Since then we’ve taken third class and its a bargain to go so quickly. I just wish the station in Jakarta was more central or at least went to the airport as it’s a bit inconvenient where it is. But even with Jakarta traffic it’s still faster for a lesser price.

    the reason why the speed train access is not close to the city is because the speed train's REL is very special and different from regular trains.
    automatically it will be difficult to make a new track through the city center and destroy people's houses just to pass through the fast train.
    actually if you are from Jakarta airport, you only need to take the airport train and get off at HALIM then continue with the fast train. the fast train does not need to go all the way to the airport which would actually be difficult to make a new track, because the direction to the airport is already full of construction.
    and in the future the fast train will be continued to Surabaya, the city before BALI.
    actually for the price difference, it is not a matter of worth it or not. but it is a cross subsidy to fulfill travel costs.
    for those who feel rich, it is better to buy first class, for those who travel because of office work then you are better off using business class because it is paid for by the company.
    but for me, even though I am not traveling for work, I still choose business class because it is not too crowded and is still in the quiet category.
    to work on the way it is better to take business class or first class which is more private.

    • @ayngelina
      @ayngelina  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn’t think about the rails being different but that makes so much sense.
      When we took the whoosh back (economy) we took a shuttle from Halim to the airport but are you saying there’s the airport train that also connects to Halim? It could have saved us an hour.
      Also I think if you want the fewest people in your car 2nd class is best at 450k

    16:28 Because the city of Central Jakarta is already very densely populated and it is difficult to Evicting land and move 1 million people,so the station was built in city East Jakarta.
    Also in Bandung high-speed rail stations also built on the outskirts of the city.
    But East Jakarta can't be called a suburb. With a population of 3.3 million and a density of 18,000/km2 (46,000/sq mi)
    And connected by LRT Jabodetabek to Depok, Bekasi and South Jakarta

    It is amazing how Indonesia has such modern infrastructure and technology, but Canada does not...
    The reason why it doesn't originate at the city centre is due to the cost of tunneling, and at times the groundwater might be too high or unstable. They could have constructed an elevated station but I am not familiar with the urban landscape of both cities you were in. In Japan, many Shinkansen stations are outside the city centre, such as Osaka, Yokohama, Aomori, and Hakodate to save costs. The new Chuo Shinkansen under construction originates in Shinagawa, outside of Tokyo's centre.

    Okay so first and business look REALLY nice but I don’t think I’d even spring for anything beyond base Economy. That’s a half hour train ride for that part of the journey. I used to stand on Chicago’s el or city busses for an hour at a time. I’m thinking if the trip was at least over an hour I’d spring for the extra fare

      We took the train again after I made the video and we paid economy. It was also great and fast. But surprisingly none of the cars have wifi, maybe it goes too fast? I don’t know if other high speed trains have it.

    This train won't make profit for 40 years at least according to statistic and plus they need to maintain operation cost. There's still local train goes 38 times per day which is enough not to use hsr unless you are in hurry. Also, they borrowed money to build so technically it's owned by china. Now is still an exciting phase with tons of propaganda so will see the truth in 1~2 years later. then we know what actually happened. Obviously, 1M passengers in 2 month is too low and debts will be built up for sure. For obvious calculation, whoosh making $300,000.00 debts every month.. They focus on speed in many ways instead of the practicality. They shouldn't have compromised to make train station in the cities.

    • @ayngelina
      @ayngelina  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I took a quick look to see if HSR are profitable elsewhere but the general consensus is that transportation is a cost, not something that is always meant to be profitable.
      That said around the world there are HSR lines that are profitable operationally, but more difficult to find one that's still profitable while burdening the cost of construction and this is where China comes in with its Belt and Road Initiative. That said, I do think HSR as it expands across Java could be much more useful as people will depends less on flights as long as the economy cost is comparable.

      @@julesherman6802 Hope this can be a joke but don't they need to pay back to China? How are they gonna pay off the debts if no profit?? If Indonesia built this HSR by themself just for a negative legacy then no profit should be fine.
