Everyone making jokes have probably never really experienced this. It’s the most terrifying feeling any human can handle. It’s no joke.

Abby Aguilar I've been having it for quite some time now , I cant remember exactly when it started but it has certainly been happening for a few years , and each time my reaction is different , sometimes I'm calm and just wait for it to go away , sometimes I panic and try as hard as I can to wake my body up , sometimes I don't even know I was having it until after I wake up , there are even when I'm just like "oh well here we go again" , nevertheless it's an eerie experience every time and it's hard to not think about it or just go to sleep afterwards

A good tip for people getting sleep paralysis:
When you feel you can't move just keep your eyes closed even when hearing creepy things etc because you can easily try to get back to sleep as long as you keep calm

That's what I do too. The moment I see the creepy figure I just close my eyes again. There was this time where I feel them shaking my bed aggressively. I literally thought there was an earthquake at first. I was about to scream and then I realized that I couldn't. I also tried to move but still can't. I closed my eyes then opened them again. That's when I saw the creepy lady in black standing beside my bed looking at me. I closed my eyes then tried to focus on how I'm going to wake myself up.

@travelguide8991guess I’ve always been lucky sleeping downwards when getting sleep paralysis.
Last night however it was terror, for some reason i couldn’t sleep, I laid and tossed 3 hours without the ability to sleep, and around 4 I was so tired, but still couldn’t fall asleep, after one final positioning move I started to drift away, instead of feeling the urge to move i instead felt this heavy feeling, having had paralysis before I knew exactly what had happend, but stupid as I am I still tried to move and realized the horror of being stuck, i started to panic, it got harder to breath and I fought with my last strength. When I finally could move I immediately slumbered and got paralyzed again and everything repeated, it was like deva-ju. This happened 4 times before I got up and just felt dead and shaken to the core, I just sat up the whole night without being the slightest tired, when the sun came up I slumbered away.
One part I left out for traumatically reasons was the 4th/last paralysis, which finally woke me enough to get up. After the third deva-ju I moved slightly up so I saw my window(and the darkly lit northern forrest) I can’t explain what it was but it was large evil and resembled a wendigo.
I tried to scream but nothing happened, I swear it laughed and showed it’s teeth before it float away.

I've suffered from sleep paralysis for as long as I can remember. It used to terrify me because I grew up thinking I was being haunted by a demon. Didn't really talk to much about bc I thought people would think I was crazy. When i did talk about it, I'd get the "it's just a nightmare." Usually the paralysis alone is scary bc I'd feel/see a presence and it would feel like it would put a hand on my chest, holding me still and knocking all the air out of me. One of the scariest episodes was when audio kicked in and i kept hearing a voice repeating non-stop, "kill yourself, you wanna die" as if it were trying to convince me to commit suicide. All I was able to do was lie there crying...then I'd repeat a prayer until it went away.
When I finally searched the internet and came across videos like this, I was able to identify it. Now that I understand that it's no demon, it's occurred less. When it does happen, it's scary but not as terrifying as before. My wife can hear me trying to call for help when it happens, so she's able to wake me up. She's a keeper 😆

I am similar. I've found that during the "attack" i can control 2 things. One is my breathing. I can take deep breaths (most of the time) and the other is I can make sounds.....like moaning. My wife is under strict orders to yell, hit, shake, punch me, whatever it takes until I'm fully awake and able to move. I got a keeper too....over 43 years!

Also I've found that some nights, if I go back to sleep too quickly, I fall right back into the same paralysis and THAT......oh that really is distressing. Fortunately that only happens like one in seven or so times. Hope you don't have that too. Thank you for responding. I’ve learned to control it over the years, first time I was just a baby boy and I truly remember how terrified I was, like you’re barely able to open an eye lid and see through. It’s an absolute awkward feeling but if you take deep breaths in between and as you exhale try to kick your whole body and usually it snaps out of it. But if you’re panicking and your hearts starts to race because you don’t know what to do , I believe someone who’s unhealthy can have a heart attack out of this .

Don't forget to mention the loud buzzing vibration that pulsates through you. If you try to move you end up having sensation of falling, rolling or floating out of body. Sleep paralysis is almost a common thing to me for the last 2 months. One thing I've learned from past sleep paralysis experiences is that to fully wake myself from my sleep paralysis is to force myself to breathe very deeply then release it and repeat it over and over for about 3 time or more until you can move one of your body parts (i'd recommend your finger/hand/arm) to lure my self to wake up and then you'll be concious again( based on my experience). I promised myself not to try to go with the flow and force myself to sleep at times like this, because when I had this sleep paralysis, I had to breathe manually(maybe this isn't the case with you), what I mean by manual is that I need to have the desire/will to breathe in my brain so that I can actually breathe (unlike when you are fully awake, you can breathe naturally unconsciously). Sometimes, when i focus myself to sleep during the sleep paralysis, I find my self forgetting to breathe, so the only option i have is to force myself waking up
LATEST EXPERIENCE: recently I was trying to go with the flow and trying to let myself sleep but what happened suddenly I saw the white light fading and suddenly my ears heard a buzzing sound (take the flashbang sound in Counter Strike game since it is the closest to what I was experiencing) and it's getting louder and louder until it hurt then I forced myself to get up with a quick breath deep breath like I usually did before. That was my most recent experience ever 'till now. I'm speaking facts here based on my own experience, I haven't done any researches aswell so this just a pure impression of what you would be facing when you're in a sleep paralysis. So let's get in this together and raise this comment so maybe someone can get some research on this. It'll be good if i can hear your experiences aswell.

    I'm sharing my experience
And how I deal with it..
At first, I was scared of this
I was scared to go to sleep after experiencing it..
Sometimes I wished someone could just shook me up so that I get awake..
    I was scared earlier,
Because I didn't knew what was this..
But now after understanding it.. It Has helped me to deal with it better..
So now, when I get a sleep paralysis.. My mind knows it..
I say to myself , that you know this happens and it doesn't last for long.. Its just your mind thinks that you are dreaming so he just switched off your movement so that you don't hurt yourself lol😝..
So it calms me down a bit..
Then I try to move my fingers and eyes, hoping to break the sleep paralysis..
    Sometimes it works
    Sometimes it doesn't..
When it doesn't.. I again get scared..
But I tell myself.. Don't worry.. Don't fight with it..
    Just relax..
And then I don't try to fight it.. For some seconds..
And after that, I again try to make little movements, to give my brain signal that "hey.. I am awake..! Just turn on the movement switch lol.. I'm not dreaming "
    And vola..
    I am out of it..
So next time.. If it happens with you..
Just remember that it is okay.. Don't need to get panic..
    😊..
Try to get enough rest.. Because it happens to me when I don't get enough rests lol..

I just experienced sleep paralysis for the first time this morning while waking up. It was terrifying! So I’m trying to understand it better. I was sleeping and dreaming on my side/stomach with my back to my bedroom door, when suddenly my eyes popped open and I heard the very overwhelming, pulsing, high pitched ringing, as I was trying to make sense of what was happening to me I suddenly felt this crushing fear of a presence that I could not only sense but hear walk closer to the end of my bed. As I tried to roll over to try and look at whatever it was, that’s when I realized I couldn’t move at all just my eyes, which only intensified the fear. It was at that point I knew that I was in sleep paralysis. I have a cousin who has told me all about it because, it has happen to him since he was a little boy, he said it would happen 2-3 times a week! I couldn’t imagine! I was 100% sure that there was something there, I believe that once I knew that it was in sleep paralysis I quickly snapped out of it sitting up in bed gasping for air. Truly terrifying! I’m lucky I didn’t have any hallucinations of any entities. But I could definitely feel something behind me!

What sleep paralysis acctually is: your body preventing from moving in your dreams and real life at the same time. (Basically you move in your dream, but sleep paralysis makes you unable to move in real life as you are in a dream. This stuff thats considered sleep paralysis is just a dream inside a dream with your sub conscious leaking in.)

  • @MrCpete84
    @MrCpete84 2 ปีที่แล้ว +183

For anyone experiencing this phenomenon....I read a book about sleep paralysis once a few years ago. It stated that when you fall asleep on your back you leave the front of your body "exposed" and this in a more vulnerable position and more likely to enter sleep paralysis. On your back you're positioned in way to where all you have to do is open your eyes and your point of view experiences the whole room...and whatever may or may not be there. The book suggested trying to sleep on your stomach with a heavier comforter or blankets or whatever you prefer. Just make sure it's heavy enough to make you feel "safe in your bed". I tried it and haven't had a sleep paralysis experience but once in the last year and a half. And even then it was mostly my fault. I haven't slept in almost 3 days and was hallucinating slightly before I even went to bed. Consistent, quality sleep is another key.

You have read a wrong book.
Sleep paralysis occurs mostly when you're laying on your back and your hand is on your chest, it puts an unnecessary pressure on heart causing disturbance in blood flow. Our brain reacts to it in the form of sleep paralysis.
Secondly, it can occur when you lay down on your arm and the blood flow is restricted.
Avoid using heavy blanket, it can put more pressure on your chest. You can literally die of heart attack in sleep by doing such nonsense if you're a heart patient and feel sleep paralysis more often.
I have been experiencing sleep paralysis since I was 14. I'm 37 years old now. My best advice is, always lie down to the left side. Try to breathe deeply as soon as you realise that you're trapped again.

It usually happens to me whenever I try to go back to sleep after waking up, especially if I’m still really tired. Sometimes I literally can’t go to sleep for a while, because it’s just a cycle of entering sleep paralysis. I’ve thankfully never had any hallucinations or anything like that, I just get stuck feeling like I can’t breath. One time my lips were kind of closed together, and my nose was stuffed, so I was struggling to get oxygen. That’s the worst when that happens.

I used to get terrible sleep paralysis episodes nearly weekly during my entire first year away at college. Never felt the stereotypical “pressure on my chest” or “sleep paralysis demon”, but being fully awake yet unable to open my eyes or control my body was absolutely terrifying. It happened so much I eventually developed a method to get myself out of the paralysis-instead of immediately panicking when I’d “wake up”, I’d try to calm myself and count down from 10. I’d then pinpoint a specific part of my body (usually my big toe or index finger) and focus all my energy in trying to move that part. Eventually I’d be able to move it and slowly gain control of my body again.

What i face is maybe i woke up once while sleeping but again got back to sleep . The moment it's time for me to wake up. I wake up but i can't open my eyes. I try to talk but i can't talk. I can feel my parents talking around me i feel like i am sitting but that's in my mind actually i am still lying. I try to talk but i can't even move my mouth. My paralysis story:
Because of quarantine I've been waking up a lot later; like 3:00-4:00 p.m., but I was woken up at 9:00 a.m. to say bye to my father who was leaving for a trip. I was up for a bit but then fell asleep on the couch downstairs and woke up to my brother telling me to wake up. He was shining a flashlight in my eyes but I couldn't open them and could only flutter them. I couldn't move and I was really confused and wondered if I'd gotten coronavirus and this was a side effect or something or if I had broken my spine and would never be able to move again. My brother walked away and I tried to call his name but I could only gasp (bruh). I eventually tried moving my fingers and once I could wiggle them a bit I was completely fine; I never want to deal w that again though please, especially not at night :(

I've experienced sleep paralysis a couple of times now. Most recently, I experienced it last night. I was only asleep for 30 minutes when I felt myself become aware of my surroundings. I was in my room, sleeping next to my boyfriend in our bed and i felt terrified. I couldnt move, i couldnt talk, i could barely breath. I tried so hard to call for help, but i couldnt open my mouth. I tried to wake my boyfriend up, but i couldnt move. I heard him wake up, and he said something weird that didnt make any sense. I then shot up, waking up completely and I could talk. Next to me, my boyfriend was sound asleep; he hadn't woken at all, so I'm assuming I was hallucinating or still in a dream like state. It's really the most horrible feeling I have ever felt, being aware of my surroundings but not being able to move or talk.

    • @AndreaMay27
      @AndreaMay27 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I'm also a very active lucid dreamer. Sleep paralysis seems to only happen when I realize I'm dreaming, but dont want to be in the dream anymore. For example, the first time it happened, I was graduating High School again. I had a very bad experience after high school, and I didnt want to repeat it. So I tried to convince everyone I wasnt supposed to be there, but no one believed me. Then, all of a sudden, I was trapped in my room, and I couldnt move, I couldnt talk, and I was terrified. I felt awake, why couldnt I move?! My boyfriend slept next to me, unaware the panic I was in. I tried to scream, to say something.. but I couldnt. But, this was last time was more terrifying. It lasted longer, and it was weird believing I was receiving help, when really I wasnt.

Weirdly enough it always occurred whenever I sleep on my stomach, instead of my back. One night I tried very hard to sleep comfortably and I was very afraid of going to sleep, expecting to experience it again, and just before I closed my eyes it happened. At that point I wanted to cry, I didn't want to sleep and I grew tired and scared of experiencing it every single night. I wasn't hearing any strange noises, until a very painful pressure was pushing me, and couldn't breathe well.

Just telling a little story about my sleep paralysis, when I went to sleep one night I started feeling that I was actually drifting into sleep paralysis, it was scary as hell because it felt like someone was right next to me. I also felt that someone was lifting my hand up and down as if it was floating or smthn. After I got out of it, every time I attempted to sleep that night it kept feeling like it was gonna happen again every time I closed my eyes almost as if I was being forced to stay awake, that was the first time I've ever been that scared of sleep paralysis since I always get it so frequently. I stood up the whole night because I was paranoid, but when I told my mom she told me to start praying at night and so I did, and that's when I stopped getting it for some reason. Till this day I always wondered if it even was sleep paralysis. :/

So my expirence was like that I’m christian and I’m only a kid I was on social media(tiktok) and saw videos and then i started to see weird videos Abt witches it was like really scary 3 videos I saw I forget it and wanted to go to sleep even my light was up then I just stared at my wall and was slowly starting to sleep but I didn’t sleep it’s hard to explain then like a Diashow these TikTok I saw came and I began to hear loud noises and like a frequency but a lot scarier and it’s hard to explain I couldn’t breath I couldn’t talk I couldn’t move and I was awake and it was not in the rem phase or something and It was the first time in my life then I started to scream the name of Jesus and I woke up the reason why I belief it was the devil because the bible STRESSES Abt not having any contact to witchcraft or to be careful what I see or hear SO I belief it was a lesson and this happened because I saw these videos

Can we talk about the creepy physical sensation, too? Like.. You feel than someone possessed you and you feel so weird in your entire body, like someone or something is inside you, I can't explain but it's really uncomfortable and you just want it to end. It's like a bad trip, because I did a bad trip one time and I swear it's the exact same sensation I felt. But I felt it during 3 entire hours during my bad trip trip. Literally.

I had sleep paralysis soooooo many times. So when it’s occurring, I tell myself “you’re having sleep paralysis remain calm”. So one time when I knew I was having it, my room looked like it had a huge dark hallway and voices were telling me to COME COME COME WALK DOWN. I told myself “I’m gonna go because I’m not scared BRING IT ON!!!!!!!” I ended up getting scared AS HECK and started saying GOD GOD GOD
