I was diagnosed with REM sleep disorder about 10 Years ago I act out my dreams I’m fighting all the time I have broken my foot kicking out as I used to do martial arts I have been chased by tiger dinosaurs I hallucinate see people in my room, I dived out of bed straight into the brick wall and severely injured my neck vertebrae, I have to lock my windows at night as I have tried to climb out the window, it’s a constant nightmare my Dr put me on Melatonin and Clonazepam that has helped but it’s not under control!!
I want ask a question. I am a binge alcoholic for a decade. Whenever I try to stop drinking, on that very night, I go through REM sleep a lot. Which is frightening. Mostly appears just after few hours from going to bed. Sleep paralysis is also associated. Is it going to be harmful for me as I feel very depressed and on anxiety on the next morning. Thanks.
Hey, I’m 16 years old and I have insomnia. I have this problem more than 2 and half years now and it’s still increasing. Sometimes I don’t know when it’s already morning but I feel like I haven’t slept at all and my mood gets so frustrated and irritated and also I feel weak, and sometimes I couldn’t fall asleep so I stay all morning. I’m a sportsman so I really need recovery so please help me and I have so many things to say about this sleep thing.
Try meditation 10 min preferably before sleep and unwind before going to sleep that is 30 or 40 min before sleep try not to touch your mobile or watch somethings that excites you(also use blue light filter on your mobile) and try not to eat dinner close to bedtime (preferably 2 hrs gap) .Lastly dim your lights/turn off in your room 30 or 20 mins before sleep and make your room cold.
I either REM sleeped a minute ago or fell asleep.I was whachting youtube and "fell asleep" the I saw my history, two videos I didnt whatch but rember turning on.Scary but told my mom and she said it was REM sleep.
I get too many dreams, even when I am taking a power nap. Each time a dream gets over I wake up. I can remember them as well. Is there something wrong with me?
Bro that happens with me also and i have too many dreams and i can remember them tooo....and girl believe me we are lucky to have so many dreams and remember them coz we have rem sleep and our memory is quite good because of which we can remember them...there is nothing wrong with it!😄😄
*Question:* What about *waking or being woken up* (by alarm clock or person or pet or whatever) *at different stages of sleep?* Is it my imagination, or is it that if someone is woken during REM sleep (or another stage?) he/she has a day that doesn't go smoothly, actually is more prone to agitation or to be clumsy or forget little things or make mistakes; whereas, completing a stage or waking in a different stage, the rest of the day goes so cool and smooth?
Is there a way for me to be less aggressive when I sleep? Every time I have friends over or have sleepovers with my sisters, they always say how they wake up to me punching them (plus I somehow wake up with my legs to my head or in a ball) but I wanna stop this lol-
I have REM sleep disorder I have dived out of bed straight into the brick wall as I was being chased by a tiger, I used to do martial arts when I was younger as a consequence I was having a dream that I was sparring put out a kick and broke my big toe on the headboard, I have found myself on the floor many times, I have even been chased by dinosaurs lol, I know it sounds crazy but its a dangerous condition when you have no control over what your body does when your asleep, my partner and I went to a wedding recently we stayed in a Holiday Inn on the second floor, my partner woke me trying to get out the bedroom window, luckily they did not open, i am on quite a lot of medication at night under Leicester hospital, it’s a very difficult condition to live with, I fear going to sleep at night !
I was put on clonazepam and setraline. Clonazepam help me tremendously so I could sleep. Setraline help me with anxiety during daytime. You mentioned that antidepressants affect REM sleep. I discontinue setraline a year a ago with doctor advice so I kept using clonazepam in the morning for rebound anxiety. So I did my research and melatonin and clonazepam is what they used to treat REM sleep. I was planning to get back on setraline .. I you have more info let me know.
I get sleep paralysis alot i sleep with cover over my head and when it happens it feels like someone is standing over me but i cant talk i can't move its very scary
Is the muscle paralysis that we experience in REM sleep only a human attribute? I watch my cat sleep and they look like they are trying to catch something. The paws move, their facial muscles twitch, and they sometimes chatter. Or is all of that during a dream in non-REM?
A Monthly Stats showing in my Sleep Tracker Device shows Average 1Hr 15Mins(REM Sleep), Deep Sleep is 1Hr15Mins,Light Sleep is 5Hrs. Plzz is this Normal.? But throughout the Day, I feel Fatigue and Sleep Deprived.
If I can’t remember a dream for a long time does that mean I am not dreaming?? I read heavy use of THC makes you lose rem and only deep sleep. I’m angry all the time.
Just heard the last sentence. I also saw a comment about a smart watch to find out. This is important….I am curious to see if it’s true it needs to be out there so people understand what is happening to them. The medication they chose for sleep and anxiety is actually making it worse!!
Hi Makenzie, any time you have a change in your normal sleep patterns, it's a good idea to see a sleep specialist to get a definitive diagnosis. There are many common sleep disorders that occur in all stages of sleep. A specialist can help you figure out when your episodes are happening during sleep and why.
@@Sleepopolis the thing is, that is my normal sleep pattern, at least for me! And I also talk in my sleep alot to and have this twitchy thing. I think I probably do have a sleep disorder that's been passed down (thanks mom) but hey! What are you gonna do with it?
Oftentimes when I feel drowsy yet I can't manage to sleep, I tried focusing into my breath and detach everything in my mind except letting it flow and think freely. Though I am completely conscious, I happened to notice my eyes rapidly moving round, up and down, side to side. I don't think it's REM? Or is it? I thought of testing it if it still be happening if I just let my eyes open, I thought it won't, but it did. Is it normal?
is there anyway for us to shorten the sleep cycle? a little bit of my personal experience, there are times when i wake up in the morning and feels like i don't get enough sleep and i'll just hit the snooze button (it's bad i know) and what happen is really weird.. i'm sure i feel like i'm falling back asleep, like into a deep sleep and when i wake up i thought "oh no, i must've miss my alarm since i didn't heard it anymore after i hit the snooze button" but when i look at my phone it's only been 1 minute since i hit the snooze button (my snooze last for about 5 minutes). the weird thing is i feel refreshed as if i have slept for 7 hours during that 1 minute. i can't control this and it just happen randomly.. i experience this a few time already. anyone else who has the same experience as me? and if anyone else know about the theory behind this or better, how to trigger this condition, mind sharing it with me?
I have researched and I can not find the answer, someone please help! For the last 3 nights I have got between 7.5 to 8 hours of sleep but the entire time I am in deep sleep. Is this normal?
dude if they can build a virtual reality head set that can put as in REM sleep and upload video games as dream to our minds ....maaaaaaaan that will be epic
Hello ma’am I want to ask you to that whenever I sleep in afternoon I have dreams that seems totally real and I want to react on it then later in dream I found that it is dream so I want to wake up but I can’t coz I feel I went into deep so it’s difficult to wake up and when I wake up I feel that I got paralysed for a few time what the thing is that it only happens in afternoon time Plz tell me what it is ??
Please sb answer so i took acid and in my sleep I felt like I died and I couldn’t wake up I tried saying mom but nothing would come out now I’m scared to gts like I would never wake up again
Very interesting info. I snow plow during the winter and my sleep gets all messed up. I haven't slept much over the past few days and I always seem to turn into a zombie lol I'll have to work on getting more sleep to keep my rem in good working condition. LOL
Unfortunately, because REM sleep is the last stage of sleep, there is no way to enter it more quickly. You can encourage healthier REM sleep by reducing or eliminating behaviors that suppress it, such as consuming alcohol and other substances such as opioids and cannabis, being exposed to excess light during sleep, shift work, and jet lag.

I think this is a good overview of REM sleep. I have issues with sleep so I'm not sure it's anything I didn't know. I know that when I get inadequate sleep, my short term memory is affected.
Same here
REm sleep is critically important and some are blessed that they can achieve REM state in a quick power nap.
Damn, this is a pretty good video! Unlike other random videos from other channels, this is actually informative, and it covers mostly everything!
i hove sleep-apinmia, will it affect REM sleep if i don't use a CPAP?
I started using a CBD product and now sell it cuz it's been wonderful. I always get to REM. No nightmares, no waking up to check my alarm. I have had no episodes of sleep paralysis. I love it
what is that CBD??
@@judy8822 it's basically weed that doesn't get you high, just makes you relaxed
This was all very interesting. I am surprised by a few things. I didn't know that Rem sleep is so important. It is crazy that someone could be violent during sleep. Thanks for all the great information.
I bought a new smart watch to track my health. And in a month it says I haven't received any moment of REM sleep. I dream vivid dreams some horrible . sometimes I kick in my sleep or Because I'm dreaming of being attacked .. remember the dream for days or weeks. I'm seen a RPN on advice and am advised I need a sleep study. since I was a child my sleep.schedule has been off. I fell more comfortable sleeping in the day than at night. I have for over 4 decades. I just know being exhausted all the time sucks. And lack of the ability to concentrate on anything is not fun. I get like 3 hours a day of feeling normal the rest is a blur.
I had sleep paralysis during a nightmare, I was half-aware and was so terrified of the nightmare that my heart started beating like mad and was breathing like I was being suffocated, and for some reason I could hear the dogs and cats from my house trying to claw their way through the door to get out in a hurry.
The other day I acted out a dream while I was asleep and accidentally smacked my wife's body. She wasn't hurt, but I wonder what stage of sleep I was in when it happened. Great info.
As a person who’s on antidepressants and had a sleep study done. I only spend 0-5% in REM sleep.
Thanks.
I did not know there was such a thing a rem sleep disorder, very interesting...thanks for the info.
I’m able to fall asleep in some cases within a few minutes. My eyes start moving right away (I’ve videoed it) Is this normal?
I either REM sleeped a minute ago or fell asleep.I was whachting youtube and "fell asleep" the I saw my history, two videos I didnt whatch but rember turning on.Scary but told my mom and she said it was REM sleep.
Is it normal to sometimes stop breathing during the REM sleep stage?
I need to reach REM sleep more often for longer periods. Thanks for the info.
I get too many dreams, even when I am taking a power nap. Each time a dream gets over I wake up. I can remember them as well. Is there something wrong with me?
Bro that happens with me also and i have too many dreams and i can remember them tooo....and girl believe me we are lucky to have so many dreams and remember them coz we have rem sleep and our memory is quite good because of which we can remember them...there is nothing wrong with it!😄😄
@@kirtijain1365 yeah I feel lucky...but sometimes its very annoying...becoz. sometimes I wake up 3 to 4 times during sleep and wake up exhausted...

What is the remedy for ram sleep
*Question:* What about *waking or being woken up* (by alarm clock or person or pet or whatever) *at different stages of sleep?* Is it my imagination, or is it that if someone is woken during REM sleep (or another stage?) he/she has a day that doesn't go smoothly, actually is more prone to agitation or to be clumsy or forget little things or make mistakes; whereas, completing a stage or waking in a different stage, the rest of the day goes so cool and smooth?
Is there a way for me to be less aggressive when I sleep? Every time I have friends over or have sleepovers with my sisters, they always say how they wake up to me punching them (plus I somehow wake up with my legs to my head or in a ball) but I wanna stop this lol-
I need some REM sleep after working 13 hours...
I have deep sleep problem .. I can't hear voice when some one calling .. I need solution

After how much time REM sleep starts after going to bed ?
How much it useful for memory consolidation?
Didnt really answer the question :( how many mins do I need?
I was put on clonazepam and setraline. Clonazepam help me tremendously so I could sleep. Setraline help me with anxiety during daytime. You mentioned that antidepressants affect REM sleep. I discontinue setraline a year a ago with doctor advice so I kept using clonazepam in the morning for rebound anxiety. So I did my research and melatonin and clonazepam is what they used to treat REM sleep. I was planning to get back on setraline .. I you have more info let me know.
Good Maam, thank for sharing... I experience this. It is scary
I get sleep paralysis alot i sleep with cover over my head and when it happens it feels like someone is standing over me but i cant talk i can't move its very scary
Some anti - depressants stop REM sleep. How can that be healthy for anyone?
Is the muscle paralysis that we experience in REM sleep only a human attribute? I watch my cat sleep and they look like they are trying to catch something. The paws move, their facial muscles twitch, and they sometimes chatter. Or is all of that during a dream in non-REM?
I have heard of sleep paralysis but never had heard of it called REM atonia
A Monthly Stats showing in my Sleep Tracker Device shows Average 1Hr 15Mins(REM Sleep), Deep Sleep is 1Hr15Mins,Light Sleep is 5Hrs.
Plzz is this Normal.? But throughout the Day, I feel Fatigue and Sleep Deprived.
So, the eyes are moving to follow the action of the dream?
As a natural bodybuilder, REM sleep is crucial for me
Can you know if someone is in REM sleep ?
If I can’t remember a dream for a long time does that mean I am not dreaming?? I read heavy use of THC makes you lose rem and only deep sleep. I’m angry all the time.
Just heard the last sentence. I also saw a comment about a smart watch to find out. This is important….I am curious to see if it’s true it needs to be out there so people understand what is happening to them. The medication they chose for sleep and anxiety is actually making it worse!!
Very interesting! Thank you
Thanks very helpful...
Also, sleep paralysis happens during rem and sleep walking happens during nrem.
I guess my REM ain't working right because I have woken up to me sipping a drink or even punching. Why is that? I also wake up with bruises?

Sleep paralysis. Very normal thing
how i want get a lucid dream ?
If you don't think you dream or maybe it's just that you don't remember your dreams, does it mean you not having enough rem?
Looking good 👌
Very interesting info. I snow plow during the winter and my sleep gets all messed up. I haven't slept much over the past few days and I always seem to turn into a zombie lol I'll have to work on getting more sleep to keep my rem in good working condition. LOL
How shall I enter the REM stage quickly, so that I may require less sleep ?
Unfortunately, because REM sleep is the last stage of sleep, there is no way to enter it more quickly. You can encourage healthier REM sleep by reducing or eliminating behaviors that suppress it, such as consuming alcohol and other substances such as opioids and cannabis, being exposed to excess light during sleep, shift work, and jet lag.
Is whether or not you remember your dreams an indicator of if you had a lot of rem sleep?
I remember this one time I slept for like 5 hours
Thanks Rose. Great explanation. Congratulations on your initiative to expand on this fascinating niche topic of sleep and themes around it.
I’ve been having a lot of rem sleep recently
