Mate, I've probably said this elsewhere on another of your videos, but it definitely bears repeating: This video is four years (and a pandemic apocalypse) old and yet it has given me information (like most of your tutorials) that I just *cannot find anywhere else* - and info which is perfectly current!! Your instructional stuff is so very thoughtful of the noobs like me and very well paced. I love that you take that little bit of opening and closing effort to explain from ground-zero to the finish. Sure, there are a lot of S1 instructional vids around but they either assume an innate starting knowledge or jump topics/procedures without finishing any - which can leave a beginner really scratching his (or her) head :) Many many thanks for the effort you have put into these. All the best with your endeavors
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a message, Ishtiaq. I appreciate your support of the channel and all the best in you music production journey!
I must tell you that not only want to thank you for your videos but how well and simple they are and I have learned so much from them , once again .THANK YOU !!!!!. Bottom line everyone has to do their homework .
Sooooo articulate and precise... thanks!!!!!! This is pretty complicated as far as my simple human brain is concerned, but I was able to follow along for the most part- thanks!!!!
If you put some events in...the modulation....how do you delete the line. Even when you delete the points the line is still there set at what ever value
That line will always be there as it represents the current, static position of whatever particular parameter you are working with. So, for instance, if you're looking a an automation track for panning, the pan position is always going to be somewhere (center, left 50, right 25, etc.) , so, the line will always be there to represent that value, even if you don't have any active automation points, etc. Hope that makes sense...
isn't it easier to go top left corner and after you touch the parameter you wanna automate and click "A". or drag the little hand wherever you want the automation track to be dropped out? cuz in that top left corner everything you touch in S1 gets highlighted there making it available for automation...just saying
Hey, DJ. Not sure what you mean by "stake", but my first thought on automating the pitch of a sample would be to load it into any sampler/sample player like Sample One, for instance, and then just automating the Pitch Bend wheel. Hope this helps?
Hi Quanta Just wanna ask if its possible to put automation on A bus or FX Channel for example I have a drum stem and Its routed on the Bus and that bus has a EQ and I just want to put a filter EQ on that and remove it after, is that possible? or should I make automation track and put that filter EQ and connect that automation on Drum Tracks and not on the bus? Thanks!
Great 2 videos about automation! Do you know if it is possible to automate midi channel switching to have multitimbral instruments on a single track but different channels (16) of that track?
Hello! My automation doesn't move along with my tracks/region when I move my tracks which leaves the automation out of sync from where I want them. So how do I get my automation to move along to my tracks if I select all and move all my tracks forward (112 tracks) too many tracks with automation other wise I would do it manually
Yes, click once on the parameter of your VST and then in the parameter display window (top, left corner of song page) you will see that parameter listed. Click and drag the hand that's in that window to the automation lane in the pattern editor window. That will create the lane. Now, I only tried this with a Studio One VST but hopefully it will work with 3rd-party, as well.
sorry I've another question how can I put an specific time into fade in and fade out?, I can do it manually with mouse but I need to have it in an exact way such as putting time on it, thank you for your time!.
Why is my automation not working? 😔. I think I disabled it. But idk how to enable it. I already recorded the whole project that includes 10 instruments.
Great Vid.. Is it possible to quantize automation points? Say my quantize settings are set to 1/1 , essentially I could just draw an automation point and it would land directly on the start of each bar. I'm able to do this in Reason DAW.. Or choose 1/2 1/4 etc.. points will sync directly on the those beats when I draw automation points close to them. However when I try this in Studio One, the points just fall anywhere and won't sync to any rhythmic beat/slice. Is there any way to achieve this? I like to be pretty precise. So really adding automation 1/1. It would be nice to have it sync right up and I not have to manually adjust the points. Sorry if that was very confusing! lol
Yes, you should certainly be able to accomplish this in S1. A few things to look out for is to be sure that your "snap to grid' feature is turned on. You can toggle this on/off by pressing "N" on your keyboard. Then, just be sure to set your quantize value to 1/1, or whatever you'd like to use. Also, keep in mind that near the quantize value, you will see "Timebase" and "Snap". If above the Snap area you see "adaptive", then this could affect how your automation is drawn in depending on your zoom level. You may want to change this from adaptive to quantize in the drop-down menu. This will then assure that your snap to grid will make use of the quantize value that you have set when you're drawing in your automation data, no matter what zoom level you are at. You could even set it to bar, and in this way, no matter what your quantize value is, it will always add the automation points by bar. Hope this helps.
Not sure about that...I've, for the most part, tried to stay away from mac products. So, it'd be hard for me to provide a comparative and accurate view.
I use a program called OBS. In order to record audio from Studio One with this software I do have to use the built-in Windows audio. ASIO is not able to be recorded.
Yes. Click once on the send amount level/bar to make it appear in the parameter display window all the way in the upper left hand corner of your song page. It should specifically say "Send Level". Then click, hold and drag the hand icon that is in that same parameter display window, to the track column. This will then create an automation track that you can add the automation to. This is at least one way to go about it.
isn't this too much work compared to studio one 2 where you just only touch whatever you want to automate and then option A to create the automation track?

Is there a last tweaked option like in fl studio ? Some of my synths have 100s of options and searching for the good parameter eats a lot of time

Is a way to automate note fx like The repeater on and off

Would I have much trouble in studio one 3 if I've been using garageband for a year?
Not sure about that...I've, for the most part, tried to stay away from mac products. So, it'd be hard for me to provide a comparative and accurate view.

Automation is working fine but when i export the mixdown it comes without the automation. Somebody know why? I need this as an emergency :S
Set Automation to "write". That should work.
I cant automate a volume knob on my 3d party VST, with these methods?!
How to Automation Auto-tune in studio one ??????
can you automate the send amount on a channel ??

Right. I just put up a new no frills video, per your comment, showing how to quickly record automation...

Still to this day no way to automate the pitch shifting of an audio file (audio event)? This is a major facepalm...
