The Tuned Air internal elements are Skydex cushioning "pods". Skydex is used as cushioning flooring in boats and various mats etc and other OEM usages. IIRC was also used in some late 90s early 00s Airwalk skate shoes and one brand of running shoes which the name brand escapes me. Skydex was started by 2 former Nike employees who developed the tech.
I have a pair and tbh they are pretty comfy. I like the cushioned footbed on these, its flat but cushioned pretty well. Different feel from let's say the air max 95 type air unit which imo is top 3 most comfy air max of all time.

Those Shox with the Foam were the Shox XT, they were the Shox for cross training to go with the R4 and BB4. There was a Marshall Faulk Rams colorway floating around on the internet back then that I wanted, but they never dropped.
The tuned air max/ TN line is the result of a collaboration between Footlocker and Nike and was designed by Sean McDowell. In the UK we used to call them and the air max 97/ 98 "One Tens" because they all used to cost £110.
Interesting, I'm French and in France we called the Nike Air Max Plus "Requin" (Shark in English) because of a specific colorway "Neutral grey/Royal Blue" and obviously it shape, some storytelling in this comments section!

I'm not even going to bother trying to get these because of that sown-on tongue. Whenever Nike makes a slip-on-style build (other than Huaraches and Prestos), they're always WAY too tight on my foot. No high arches, no wide feet, just thick and less flexible. Bummer. I love these.

These are so comfortable and look way better in person even though they already look cool in videos and pictures. This is my new favorite shoe! I like that the heel is secure and they aren’t that narrow. I have wide feet so I was worried they would be too tight but they’re perfect tts
