These were always called the SC3's, with the previous version being called the SC2's (the one with the removeable velcro forefoot strap, & separate padded ankle piece). A Nike rep who visited the store also told us back in the day that if there was a visible window, there was always a separate forefoot air unit. They provided us with loads of air units to show to customers also. I remember the orange part of the tongue being a silky material too, that one looks a little rougher to the touch?

Yes, I copped crap from everyone over the choice. But when your parents are poor & you have large feet, you make the financial choice.

Had these in the 90’s and recently my wife found some and hooked me up with a pair as a surprise. May be/sound corny and I don’t care but they immediately took me back to when I first got a pair. I actually like pretty much all of the color schemes, too. These, Barkley’s, Pippen’s, Rodman’s, Shawn Kemps, David Robinson’s Dee Brown’s Pumps and all of the MJ’s are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Strange. I have the previous release still on ice and the materials feel fairly good. I believe they went down in quality. Love these though! Also to mention, the foam feels incredibly comfortable on my pair, so much that I think it's phylon instead of PU. I sized mine half down and they're perfect too. So I guess sizing changed here
These shoes had a "moment" but really did not sell anywhere near the AT1 did. The magic was gone, Nike had crafted tennis shoes for Andre Agassi and no other player tried the SCs. I remember customers not liking these due to the stiffness issues from the sole to the uppers. ImHO Nike did a "cash" grab with this shoe; the leather and materials on most of the shoes had declined but thr plastic "tape" straps really took the cake. Great ad campaign and a lackluster shoe that had no place on any court...barely a jack of all trades and a master of nothing! We had excess inventory for a LONG time!
These are my youth! I had Air Trainer IIIs in high school. I'm so glad Chris likes these. To me they encapsulate 90s fun. I remember the leather being fairly thick but the stitching wasn't always super great and they eventually fell apart. But damn I loved them ❤️
The BEST pair of shoes I’ve ever owned! So comfortable. I wore nothing but then for about three years of my 20s. Now as a man close to 60 I see that I can have a pair, noice!
Back in the late 80’s and 90’s, I was a big fan of cross trainers. My first pair was the one that featured Bo Jackson in the medicine ball color-way. Right now, I’m in the process of trying to secure the shoe you just featured, but in the KC Royals color-way.
I had those exact shoes when I was a kid and they had heel with a separate forefoot air unit. The Air Trainer 1 is the only trainer with full-length air that I can think of unless it's visible like the Ubiquitous max or Pillar. I'm always suspicious if there is forefoot air in retros as we all know how Nike skimps on stuff unless someone cuts them in half to verify. Keep up the great work you two!
Man. I've had so many SC trainers over the past decade and the only complaint I have is the 🤬 midsole paint SUCKED after awhile. *Edited* yes, the Auburn color is for the University he went to in Alabama. Auburn tigers

I'm currently in Green Acres mall looking at these right now. As an 80's baby, these are a must-have. I'm just trying to figure out if I should order them in a size 14 because I don't want them to be too small when they arrive. I'm a 14/15 in most of my footwear.
I been had the black & blanco Bose but the paint on the heel started peeling put em away it’s too hot in Los Angeles for black leather material & the toe began to crease nostalgic not comfortable
I got the last retro of these and the paint started peeling around the heel pretty early on, so I haven't work them as often as I'd like to. Copped a new pair last week so now I can wear the old pair more often and not worry so much if they get beat up.
Found them today at Foot Locker. I normally take an 11, but they had a 10.5. I tried them on and they fit perfectly. Love the shoe. Big fan of Bo also!

The graphic is accurate. The retros were renumbered, for example: Air Trainer TW became the Air Trainer 2, Air Trainer SC became the Air Trainer 3
