Saving bikes, one at a time!

This bike came in with a bearing that had literally exploded in the frame. This caused the inside of the driveside crank arm to rub against the bottom bracket cup, completely destroying the teeth, which is what allows you to remove the bottom bracket.
Luckily enough, the non drive side cup came out just fine and the bearings had separated from the spindle, so the driveside cup was the only thing g left.
Being chromoly cups, they are extremely strong, so I went to work on it with a Dremel and some cutting blades. You have to be careful to not cut into the frame. But the easiest thing to do is to cut a few different channels into the cup. Eventually these will come out and then you can remove the bulk of the cup.
I did a good and didn’t mess up any threads on the bottom bracket shell. So the new bearing cartridge went with no issues. Now this bike is ready to hit the streets again.
